If you arrive at night, like we did, the drive into the park and to the camp area will seem eerie, as there are no street lights along the way and few signs of civilization except for speed limit warnings. The grounds have a dozen or more camp sites with water and electric, although some had the water shut off when we were there in early Nov. If you have to use restroom facilities, they are available at the beginning of the road that leads to the camp sites, which means a longer hike for relief than at most camp grounds. Take a flashlight if you're going at night, as there are no streetlights along that stretch. There is one streetlight at each end of the campground, however. There are no showers, just toilets and a sink, kept clean. The grounds are surrounded by forest and are quiet (except when motorcyclists are on nearby trails). There's no vegetation encircling each site, so there's no privacy. Each site has a concrete area for a picnic table and RV. The grounds are several miles from stores, restaurants and service stations. The grounds apparently are closed Mon.-Wed., so we were asked when I made reservations to call a park employee an hour before arriving to get the code to open the entry gate. We paid the next morning. I'd definitely return when in the area. We had a partial hook-up, with electricity only. We camped at Minooka Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Just an overnight stay at a relatively new small park. As others have said, the focus here is on use of the trails. Rate reflects the fact that the site did not have a sewer connection. Everything is well-maintained. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only problem is that none of my GPS apps could find this place. The turn-off was clearly marked, so no need to worry. Very pretty and quiet place. Would stop by again. We camped at Minooka Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Wanting a weekend-getaway spot close to home, we drove 20 miles and backed our RV into one of many available concrete RV spots. Each space has a firepit and picnic table along with the normal water, electric, sewage hook-ups. There are no 'shade-trees' around the campsite just yet, but some have been planted. RV spaces are far enough apart to avoid eaves-droppers, but close enough to see into your camper [NOTE: pull your shades down!]. No bath-house on the site, but there are unheated, block-style restrooms at the trail heads. We weren't there to enjoy the many ATV trails; however, our investigation of the park revealed a clean, well-organized area with the trails clearly marked [although, it would have been nice to have a spot-light on some of the signs, as they were difficult to see in the dark.] and, several pavilions for gatherings and gravel parking areas for ATV haulers. Trails are mid-level difficulty and clearly marked for operators. The lake walking path was wonderful and quiet on the cold, late October morning. The ATV riders did not show up until Sunday, late-morning after the rain, and we were pulling out to leave. All-in-all, a family atmosphere meant to support the ATV trail system. Definitely a 'keeper' in our book! We camped at Minooka Park in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

Park is actually an ATV, dirt bike, and horse trail park. Campground is on paved road and each site has wide concrete pad. Very level. Of the 18 sites, 10 have full hook-ups. The motorcycle trails are several miles long and far enough away from campground that you rarely hear them. Has nice fishing lake and 1 mile walking trail around lake. Sites are large and very well spaced. They will allow your to have tent campers (friends) on your site for $10.00 per night. Price above reflects senior discount. Most sites are very wide with paved back in. A couple of pull-throughs. Only issue is campground is fairly new and very few trees for shade. Park ranger lives in campground part of the year and daily checked on all the campers. We will stay here again. We camped at Minooka Park in a Travel Trailer.
