Small campground located near the airfield in Mobile. A number of permanent residents in the campground. Campground is very clean and well maintained. The owners live next door to the campground and are on site every day. Our site was a pull through with access to the southern sky so that we could receive a satellite signal. We did not use the restrooms/showers or laundry in the park. We would stay in this campground again if we are in the area. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Great place to buy fresh seafood nearby: Dip Seafood about 1 mile from campground.

Big rig friendly with level sites. Easy access to I10 and I65. Laundry and Wi-Fi were good. Showers were small, dirty, and old. No dog park but several large fields to walk dog. Campground was a good place to ride bicycle. Local drivers seemed to be in a hurry and not like motorcycles. No problem using our satellite. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Walmart, restaurants, and other shopping within 10 miles. Very convenient to downtown Mobile which is a pretty city. Visited the Mobile Carnival Museum and learned that the Mardi Gras was originated in Mobile and 25 years before New Orleans Mardi Gras.

This is a wonderful quaint park right off I 10 in Mobile. Very convenient to get to all areas around the park. Owner Charlie is on site and greets you with a welcoming smile. Sites are gravel- the rig area was nice and level. The gravel between sites was not, so it made sitting in chairs a little difficult. Nothing a little grading wouldnt fix. They offer free wi-Fi which was good. Office is clean, and houses a small laundry room- 2 washers, 3 dryers. Pretty much a no frills park, but we felt safe and secure and met many nice people. No picnic tables on sites. The only reason I did not give 5 stars for cleanliness was some of the permanent rv's and mobile homes are in disrepair, and sites were cluttered with junk. The park itself is well maintained, garbage bins at each site, and satellite reception was good. Highly recommend this small, southern charm park. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We golfed at Azalea City Golf couse in Mobile. Nice course, reasonably priced, but they did not tell us the greens were plugged and sanded. Nice scenery. We also drove 25 miles into Pascagoula Mississippi. We golfed there at Pascagoula Country Club. A 9 hole municipal course that is still trying to bounce back from Hurrican Katrina. Ate lunch at Bozos-crawfish! Very good.

This is a nice, quiet little campground. The gravel sites are level and roomy. We only stayed one night. Our pull-through site was long enough for our 36' Class C with our Ford Escape in tow, and there was plenty of room for a larger RV. It only cost $25.20 with our Good Sam Discount. The people are very friendly. The building where the office is located is actually a park model home. The office is the living room. There is a kitchen next to the office. You go down a hallway, and there is a small bedroom which is now used as a library. There are two washers ($1.50) in the hallway and three dryers ($1.50) in another room that was once a bedroom. I also looked in the bathroom. All are very clean. The only problem was the road into the campground. You have to go half a mile on a very narrow paved road to get to the campground. The roads in the campground are also narrow. To avoid the difficult turn onto Old Military Road, turn into the driveway just before you reach Checkers. It goes through a large parking lot with an exit onto Old Military Road. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Park is run down and barely worth the overnight fee. WiFi is fair at best and cable is very limited. For those traveling west on I-10 exit 25B is a left side of the highway exit. Be prepared. Sites are not level so have lots of wood to level. There are lots of trees and even millions of leaves on the ground. Maintenance isn't high on the priority list here. WiFi is weak early in the day and gets worse as the day progresses. Cable is very limited. We will not be staying here again. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Staff was friendly. Seemed to be largely long term or permanent residents. A little off the road, but easy access to I-10. Traveled in 40ft with toad, did not have to unhook. Had shade trees and grass. Site was gravel somewhat level but we did need our jacks. Okay for an overnight stay. Were loud pickup trucks coming and going but it did get quiet after about 9 or 10 PM. Sites on either side empty, could have been a bit tight if they had been occupied. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Stopped here in a 39 ft motorhome towing a car for an overnight stay. Long level pull-thru; great wifi (but we were parked close to the office); everything fine. The only reason not rated higher is because a little tight maneuvering getting in here and around but still possible. Nice and close to I-10; manager was very nice and helpful. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Didn't leave site except for walk around nearby subdivision.

We stayed here for a couple nights while visiting Mobile and Dauphin Island. Good proximity to both. The park is in a residential area and quiet. We have dogs so it was a great area to walk them. And we could walk to the river which was nice. There are guide a few full-timers but they all were super friendly. The sites are gravel and fairly level, mostly shaded. Charlie, the owner, was very helpful. I have read other reviews about the tight turn into Old Military hwy, cut thru the Checkers parking lot, much better angle for you big rigs. Would stay here again. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Very shady, reasonably level. Broken concrete pad where table should be. Host is very hospitable with information and brochures about area. Reservations necessary. Cable TV good. WiFi is weak. Noise from airplanes and trains did not keep me awake. Easy access. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Historic city of Mobile, Gulf beaches.

As stated the park lies at the end of a residential area but we were pleasantly surprised!
Easy pull in (41' 5th wheel) level gravel sites. Clean campground - very few extras but THE WIFI WORKED GOOD!
Would easily stay here again for a few nights. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is nearly impossible to reach in a large (40') motor home, especially if towing. Making the right turn from the main road onto the side road leading to the campground is impossible without dragging your car over the curb. We will definitely need at least an alignment if not more work done on our car after that turn.

The site we were given was tight. Office personnel was pleasant but that couldn't outweigh the difficulty getting to the park, tight sites, and difficulty leaving the park. We will NOT stop here again. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Difficult turn onto Old Military Drive as it is only 2 lane road. My rear wheels on our motorhome went over the curb as did the toad wheels which I usually have enough skill to avoid. Only waiting for oncoming traffic to clear could have prevented it. The park itself has narrow paved roads. Most sites are "long term". Overnight sites have shared hook ups which puts your rig very close to the one on your drivers side. However this is a quiet, restful park. Distant train noise was very faint. No traffic noise. Friendly staff, clean park. Just a place to park. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Made reservations with this park and specifically told the person I spoke with that I am in a 35 foot RV. She said call when we were 20 minutes out. OK I called three times, no response. Three hours after we departed the host called and said she forgot to take her phone with her.We arrived at the campground. The site number she gave me had a car parked in it, and too small, very close to the other campers and full of mud. We called again no answer. This park is full of permanent trailers that are very close and not taken care of. Many could not let out their awnings because they were so close together. There's no place to unhook your car. I will not stop here again. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

This was our second time staying in this park. The owner lives on site and is very friendly. The rate is less expensive if you pay in cash. When we arrived, we were allowed to select which site we wanted. We chose one with lots of trees. There are sites with no trees. The site was gravel and fairly level. Our satellite could not receive a signal because of all of the trees. There is cable available. There is a short trail at the back of the park leading to the river. Both times we stayed here, we were on a long vacation and stopped for a couple of nights (mainly to play golf in the area.) We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

This park was a surprise. It's in a residential neighborhood surrounded by woods and the Dog River, like a state park. The manager has been here forever and treated us like family. Yes they have cable and Wi-Fi, both work fine. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.
