I stayed here one night in pull through site 39 in the Catoma Loop. This park has two loops -- Antioch and Catoma. They are quite different. I was in the Catoma Loop which is newly renovated and very big rig friendly. The sites are paved, very long and spread out, and have sewer connections. The Antioch Loop has much smaller sites and tighter turns on the road. Both loops have sites with water views but there is no swimming. The two loops are completely separate. Site 39 was huge with a grass lawn and woods behind and a sewer hookup. It was totally level. The only downside is that this campground is quite a way from the main highway for someone just stopping the night like I was. Verizon was passable at best. Electric and water and sewer were perfect. Price reflects a senior pass discount. We camped at Gunter Hill COE in a Motorhome.

We are already making plans to come back to this park when we can stay longer This has to be the best park for the value of any park anywhere. FHU and large level concrete pads. Staff was very helpful and friendly. We stayed in the Catoma Loop on the Alabama River. We camped at Gunter Hill COE in a Motorhome.

Absolutely beautiful escape campground. Sites are all concrete, many arced pull-thrus and all with sewer in our section. Very cooperative management. Nice pavilion to walk down and view the river. Local TV works fine, but no wi-fi and a weak Verizon signal. Still, a place we would eagerly return. Only 15-20 minutes to downtown Montgomery for excellent sight-seeing and history study. We camped at Gunter Hill COE in a Fifth Wheel.

We stopped here for a few days on our way to FL. This is a very nice Corp park. The Catoma side is great for large trailers and RV's. the roads are paved, very large concrete back in and pull thru sties that have full hook up including sewer. Many large trees making the sites shady. The park is quiet and clean. There is a dollar general store at the entrance making it nice if you needed a few items. Montgomery is a short drive. For those with boats there is a nice boat ramp access. We will stop here again. We camped at Gunter Hill COE in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in Catoma Loop section of the park. The sites were cement, level, spacious, and clean. All sites had at least some shade and degree of privacy. This is one of THE cleanest campground that we have ever stayed at. The park was very quiet the weekend that we stayed. We were able to pick up a lot of OTA channels on TV. Verizon phone service was very good. Internet reception varied from 3G to LTE and was slow at times; there is no WiFi. We left on a Monday and there was someone thoroughly pressure washing the picnic tables. A work camper was cleaning each empty site--fire pits, grills, and picking up all debris at the site. The only con is the Montgomery County road going to the campground has several low hanging trees that need to be trimmed. We camped at Gunter Hill COE in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for a week as we were passing through the area. Having come from Florida, we couldn't believe how spacious the sites were! This space would have accommodated three rigs in Florida. Beautiful campground with lots of trees and along the river. We took the advice of other reviews and stayed in the Catoma Loop. We road our bikes through the other loop, and it definitely is very different. Not terrible, but older, roads not as smooth, turns might be tighter for bigger rigs, etc. We had a picnic table, huge patio area, fire pit. Other campers seem to be regulars there, people who live nearby. Everyone was friendly. It's way off the road so there's no road noise, a nice quiet campground. We would definitely stay here again! We camped at Gunter Hill COE in a Motorhome.

Large long shady cement pads. We stayed in #44 in the Catoma Loop for4 days. When you walked out the door you were facing the woods but could still see what was happening around you when sitting out. Sites have good room between them. #36 looked to be the best site because it was long and on the water for fishing. The other loop is an older part of the campground very wooded and close together but did have some nice water sites. Would stay here again. We camped at Gunter Hill COE in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in the Catoma Creek campground, very nice, new campground. Since we are not self-contained, showers and bathrooms are an important criteria. These were individual (private), very clean facilities. The sites are incredibly long, with plenty of space between sites. When we pulled up to the lady standing at the check-in building, she turned around, went in the building and shut the door. Not the friendliness expected in the south. We camped at Gunter Hill COE in a Tent Trailer.

Gunter Hill Campground, near Montgomery, AL, is in a beautiful setting with really nice, paved and large sites. Some of the sites are the longest we have seen. May of them offer nice lake views. The only negatives are a poor Verizon signal, a neighboring race track that can be noisy at times, and getting a satellite signal from some sites is impossible. The positives far out weigh the negatives. This is a popular campground and reservations, especially on weekends, is a good idea. You want the Catoma loop if possible - it is newer and has full hookups. We camped at Gunter Hill COE in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a very nice and clean campground. The sites were spacious, plenty of trees gave shade and privacy, all hookups worked perfectly, and plenty of trails left opportunities for nature hikes. As a full time RVer, my only complaint was the lack of access to the internet. We camped at Gunter Hill COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Gunter Hill has two loops: Catoma and Antioch. Catoma is the newest and nicest! Most sites in this loop are level, large concrete or paved surfaces, and large enough to handle any size RV. There was plenty room between sites. Antioch loop is older, gravel sites, close to other sites, and many appeared unlevel. This loop does not provide sewer hookups. Our site was clean, even the fire pit! It was wide and long enough to handle both our TV and TT, with plenty of room to spare. We were away from the any of the playgrounds or buildings, so it was quiet and peaceful. Would stay hear again any time in the future; hopefully, longer next time. We camped at Gunter Hill COE in a Travel Trailer.

This is our first stay in a COE park and the best part was the price of $18 with our Federal Park pass. We were in the old part without sewer, the new loop has sewer at each site. The camp host were very nice about allowing us to choose a site based on the levelness of it. It was similar to a state park in that it is close to nature with lots of trees and a lake. We chose this park as a base to tour the historic sites in Montgomery. It's about a 10 mi drive to the downtown area. We stayed on the Antioch Loop which is the older of the 2 loops. There are no sewer hookups and no pull-thru's on this loop, But it is a nice camping area. We had a back-in site overlooking the water. The sites are nice and long and well-spaced. They have a nice fire pit, BBQ, picnic table and lantern hook. We drove through the newer Catoma Loop, much nicer. Nice concrete pads, full hookups and some pull-throughs. We would stay here again, but we'd try to book early enough to get on the Catoma loop We camped at Gunter Hill COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you want to tour the historic sites in Montgomery, you can drive down to the Convention & Visitors Bureau, which is an old railroad station. They have a free 30 min movie. They also have several free parking spots, and they'll give you a free parking pass for one of the 6 on-street parking spots right in front of the Capitol building. From there it's an easy walk to most of the sites.
