12 RV Parks near Samson, Alabama
May 2017 - $17.00
Guy had a stroke so not very talkative but very nice. Cute spot off the beaten path. Spacious pond/lake on premises. Grassy with trees. Waived the $2. Washer/dryer. Backed in. I don't know about the wifi. Seems to be working; I hooked to an open one. - Asha Wise
Mar 2014 - $15.00
Passport America rate. We stayed five nights. Staff friendly, live on site. Laundry OK. Not the most spic-and-span modern facilities but we liked this place for total peace and quiet. Easy access and nice walking. Sites grassy but with hard surface. Cement patios. Wi-Fi excellent (we were parked near rec room). We would definitely stay here again. - rvbravo2
Feb 2018 - $50.00
Older gay campground that is a little overgrown but the new owners are working on it. I typically would have given the campground a middle rating due to the newness but the owners have the attitude that if you don't give an outstanding rating don't bother coming back. So I cannot rate them above a poor rating as the $ value is lacking. $100.00 for 2 nights is extreme. The road into the campground is disturbing, the trash was never dumped from the garbage cans, the site is majorly uneven 8" drop had to use 2 "2 X 6"s & levelers and the sewer hookup was higher than the rig. - Campin Kayak
Jul 2016 - $25.00
This is one of the best RV parks we have stayed at!! The owners were very sweet, they treated us pretty much like family. They invited us into their home and we talked for hours. They would take my 2 year old daughter riding on their golf carts (of course I rode also).
The park was very clean, and quiet!! Laundry room was clean. My husband loved the lake/fishing!! Will definitely be back if we are near Geneva, Alabama again!!
They looked after me and my daughter while my husband worked during the day. When it would start storming they would check to make sure we were okay and asked if we needed anything!! Wifi worked great.
The owners kept the park very clean, he was always outside doing yard work!!! She kept the flower beds really pretty, hope we can visit with them soon!!! - Shelby Shoemake
Jan 2016 - $35.00
This place was not clean and very noisy. We were looking for a relaxing vacation and this place was anything but. Owners were rude and unfriendly. - Ron and Amy
Jan 2011 - $18.00
The owners have done an excellent job of cleaning up after the previous owners. Both are the kindest, most helpful and gracious owners we have encountered. Everyone is very friendly. The grounds are landscaped nicely and well kept. There are a number of long timers who are also helpful. They have added a club house for get together. Two docks available for fishing. Landing is available with a recommended $2 launching fee. The lake only allows electric motors - no gasoline. The campgrounds are literally out in the country closer to Geneva, AL than Defuniak Springs, FL. - MOexpat
Oct 2015 - $28.00
I gave a satisfactory rating because the park is in transition from state to city and there are some maintenance issues because of it. State has pulled out the laundry facilities and slacked off on maintenance. Lake side sites were $35 while across the road were $28. All sites have water & electric, level and tree lined. Our B was the smallest camper there, about 4 other sites had 5'ers, all other sites were empty. 28 total sites. We had a beautiful lakefront site. Hope this park doesn't fall into disrepair. - garmp
May 2015 - $35.00
Great State Park on Lake Jackson. Awesome views, great lake for kayaking. Sites are dirt and gravel, somewhat level, lots of trees and moss. Bath house nice and clean. Sites are close with a few pull-thru. Stayed in a 40 ft Motor Home. Will stay again. - gleLOAL
Oct 2014 - $24.00
Friendly staff. Most sites are back-in. Beautiful setting with views of the lake from all sites.
Cable was fuzzy. Satellite depends on site due to the trees.
The sewer on my site was backed-up and unusable. - jnateg
Jan 2018 - $40.00
This is a nice state park beautifully set on a lake created by a nearby dam. Most of the spaces are on the water, with a few, mostly larger spaces above the main area and away from the water. All the spaces are blind-side back ins. We came with a larger fifth wheel (36ft), and backing wasn't easy in the only spot we found left when we arrived (we had a reservation, but at Frank Jackson a reservation is just a hunting license for any open spaces -- there are no reservations for specific sites). The hookups were good (50 amp power, water, sewer, and cable TV). The TV cable offered many dozens of channels, some in full HD. It was the dead of winter when we were there, so we can't offer any opinion on boating or other water activities, but I suspect they are nice. The town of Opp is very close by, but other than a few fast food choices, there's not much shopping. Andalusia, about 15 minutes west, has a Walmart and somewhat more varied offerings in the shopping and restaurant categories. We'd gladly stay here again provided we arrived much earlier in the day to get a better space. - Bbsanmob
Sep 2017 - $32.00
This is a beautiful state park, most site beside the lake. I had a very nice pull thru site with picnic table and fire ring. The utilities were very well located and worked great. The cable tv was also good. Did not try wifi. The bathrooms and showers were modern and clean as a pin. They also have some nice walking trails thru the woods and around the lake. Very quite and a great place to spend some time. - trav
Sep 2017 - $35.00
Very nice little park with full hook-up including cable. Many shady sites back up to the water, mostly back in with a few pull-throughs, but long enough that we did not have to unhook. Bathrooms were very clean. We picked out site after we drove in, and they came by later to assign it to us. That was nice so we did not have to drive back out to the gate. Kind of pricey for a state park, but we liked it & would come back. - R&S
Apr 2018 - $41.00
Stayed one nite, location is very quiet and perfect for a one nite stay. Lots of seasonal and park models. We were put in a deluxe site though we only asked for a regular pull thru site. We were charged for the deluxe site. Sites are VERY tight, you can reach out and touch your neighbors rig. We were never able to connect to the wifi even after calling the office. Many young children unattended by adults both at the lake and in the streets playing. This is not a fault of the campground. Nice walk down to the lake and office staff was very friendly. We would stay again for one nite while passing thru the area. - Hogladyrider
Feb 2018 - $30.00
This is a real nice park in a rural area of the Florida Panhandle not far from Interstate 10. The staff was very courteous and friendly at check in. Many snowbirds at this location in February and we could see why. Well maintained facilities. It is in many ways like many fish camps I have visited, but it is a very nice one. The hedge alongside our site separating us from our neighbors complicated our positioning and hookup a little. - one_strange_texan
Jan 2018 - $17.00
We just started snowbirding and are delighted with this park. It is very clean, feels safe, and offers a lot of activities for the 55+ set. The $17/nt rate reflects the $520 monthly rate, which includes electric, water, cable, and Wifi. I would have rated the park higher if the WiFi was a bit more reliable. And a word to the wise: if you plan to stay here for all or part of the winter, better put your deposit in by late summer. It fills up fast. - Poodles
Apr 2018 - $25.00
I'm from Panama, and my family was down from Atlanta. We picked this spot to meet up with each other for a weekend. To be clear, this was a fun weekend, but make no mistake, this place caters to divers, not campers. Gorgeous springs, diving rentals, a swimming hole, lots of activity going on all the time. They also have cabins and houses to rent out. The sites are not clearly marked, but are easy enough to get in and out of. Kids had a blast in the water. No lifeguards though, so be diligent. Overall, we do plan to go back because of the diving/swimming portion where we can camp, too. But if swimming/diving aren't priorities for you... you may want to look to other places as the campsite is not the priority for this area. - JJGibbs
Jun 2012 - $25.00
Pulled off the highway looking for an overnight stay. Found this park way out in the country. Beautiful setting with super friendly staff. Great diving area available along with swimming and recreation. Great, off the beat spot for family vacationing at a reasonable price. A,lot of people staying there, but surprisingly quite at night. If I ever traveled through this area again, I would not hesitate to stop. - Jeff MacDonald
Jun 2007 - $18.00
Very primitive, much sand, roads were in disrepair, sites poorly marked. It took us 50 minutes just to get checked in, staff was new and not very professional. This is an excellent Dive site, great swimming area, kind of small. We left a day earlier than we were supposed to. Hopefully they will bring this park up to standards soon. - jericbarg
Feb 2018 - $17.00
Little old park needs renewal. A lot of permanent residents with dogs and children. Very small place RV. I do not recommend this place for people who like silence. Our place was without picnic table and very close to buildings. - Obcy
Apr 2017 - $17.00
Very nice park!!! Friendly helpful staff. Great WiFi and cable tv. Beautiful lake setting, quiet and peaceful. Very clean restroom, showers, and laundry. I stayed only two nights but hoping to stay a couple months next winter. - kccwoodworks
Mar 2017 - $17.00
What a nice little campground. Older park with mostly long term residents, some run down units. There are a couple cabins and a family unit which I didn't see. Rustic but so clean there weren't even any cobwebs anywhere in the restroom! Showers have very odd configuration. There are 2, but you have to walk through the dressing area of the first one to get to the one in the back. Owners are very friendly. There was work being done in the next site shortly after we arrived, but both the owner and the workers apologized for the noise. There is a nice dock where we sat and watched the turtles swimming in the lake, which is a bit overgrown near the shore. Good cable, iffy wifi, T Mobile signal was sporadic. Sites were wood chips and gravel. A bit of a ride from the interstate through an older community, but it was a good relaxing stop for us. We would definitely return if we are in the area. - mizchiz
