9 Parks near Samson, Alabama
Mar 2014 - $15.00
Passport America rate. We stayed five nights. Staff friendly, live on site. Laundry OK. Not the most spic-and-span modern facilities but we liked this place for total peace and quiet. Easy access and nice walking. Sites grassy but with hard surface. Cement patios. Wi-Fi excellent (we were parked near rec room). We would definitely stay here again. - rvbravo2
Jul 2016 - $25.00
This is one of the best RV parks we have stayed at!! The owners were very sweet, they treated us pretty much like family. They invited us into their home and we talked for hours. They would take my 2 year old daughter riding on their golf carts (of course I rode also).
The park was very clean, and quiet!! Laundry room was clean. My husband loved the lake/fishing!! Will definitely be back if we are near Geneva, Alabama again!!
They looked after me and my daughter while my husband worked during the day. When it would start storming they would check to make sure we were okay and asked if we needed anything!! Wifi worked great.
The owners kept the park very clean, he was always outside doing yard work!!! She kept the flower beds really pretty, hope we can visit with them soon!!! - Shelby Shoemake
Jan 2016 - $35.00
This place was not clean and very noisy. We were looking for a relaxing vacation and this place was anything but. Owners were rude and unfriendly. - Ron and Amy
Jan 2011 - $18.00
The owners have done an excellent job of cleaning up after the previous owners. Both are the kindest, most helpful and gracious owners we have encountered. Everyone is very friendly. The grounds are landscaped nicely and well kept. There are a number of long timers who are also helpful. They have added a club house for get together. Two docks available for fishing. Landing is available with a recommended $2 launching fee. The lake only allows electric motors - no gasoline. The campgrounds are literally out in the country closer to Geneva, AL than Defuniak Springs, FL. - MOexpat
Oct 2015 - $28.00
I gave a satisfactory rating because the park is in transition from state to city and there are some maintenance issues because of it. State has pulled out the laundry facilities and slacked off on maintenance. Lake side sites were $35 while across the road were $28. All sites have water & electric, level and tree lined. Our B was the smallest camper there, about 4 other sites had 5'ers, all other sites were empty. 28 total sites. We had a beautiful lakefront site. Hope this park doesn't fall into disrepair. - garmp
May 2015 - $35.00
Great State Park on Lake Jackson. Awesome views, great lake for kayaking. Sites are dirt and gravel, somewhat level, lots of trees and moss. Bath house nice and clean. Sites are close with a few pull-thru. Stayed in a 40 ft Motor Home. Will stay again. - gleLOAL
Oct 2014 - $24.00
Friendly staff. Most sites are back-in. Beautiful setting with views of the lake from all sites.
Cable was fuzzy. Satellite depends on site due to the trees.
The sewer on my site was backed-up and unusable. - jnateg
Feb 2017 - $35.00
Many of the sites have back in lake view--beautiful! Hike across footbridge to a small island--fun! Cable TV! Staff is friendly and helpful. We have returned several times. Staff are friendly and do a great job! - sp123
Jan 2016 - $40.00
Sites are mostly with beautiful lake view. Sites Reasonably sized and well spaced. Grounds well kept. Staff friendly and helpful. Cable TV is great with numerous channels. Smaller park that we enjoy immensely. During October 2015 stay friends of the park put on a great scarecrow display along the walking/hiking trails. - sp123
Nov 2015 - $28.00
This is a very nice park. We are in space 29, which is a very wide and long gravel pad. We are in a 41' motorhome with slides on both sides, and we have plenty of room to accommodate our exercise pens that we use for our pups. The park has WiFi, but it is slow, and the signal is weak. We have a strong WiFi booster, but even with a good signal, pages load slowly, but they do load. The park also has excellent cable, with over 100 channels, which is something you don't usually see in a state park. The town of Opp is rather small, and has a few fast food restaurants, and only one grocery store.
We are staying here only one night this trip in route to our next destination. We will most definitely stay here again, and will likely spend more time here the next time we come through. - Mike Hopkins
Dec 2016 - $27.00
Older park with many snow birds. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Big rig access with no problems getting to park from HWY 10. Older bathhouse. Small kids park and small dog run. Free park wifi 1-2 meg download speed max. AT&T 3-5 meg max. Level to gentle slope on most of the larger sites. Sites are situated so that your neighbor pulls in from opposite side of street, passenger sides of both rvs facing utilities. I did not mind because the front yard area is larger this way. Would return again. - On the way
Aug 2015 - $35.00
Great staff, poor Wifi, and friendly campers even with lots of seasonal campers. We pulled in with a slow leak on a truck tire. They pumped in enough air to get me the 8 and 1/2 miles into town and called to tell them I was coming. Found more damage than a slow leak so we put on two new rears which we were planning to do this in winter. We stayed 2 nights and they even sent someone to our sight the first night to see if we were okay and to let them know if we needed any more assistance. We will stop here again. - Mr. Camper
May 2015 - $28.00
We enjoy this Rv resort for holiday and long weekend getaways. The owners have created a nice campground with lots of amenities.
Sites are grassed with concrete patio slabs, well maintained.
We have a 32' motorhome and have never had a problem. We have always gotten a 50 amp pull through.
Clean pool, exercise room, friendly staff and volunteers. Live entertainment on Saturday nights which was great for a local place, talent surprised us.
The full timers and those that reside in cottages Keep their places well maintained.
This weekend they had a bbq and Memorial Day ceremony.
Great place to overnight or stay a week. Our grandkids love the pool, playground and fishing dock.
Paved roads and escort to your site. Free wifi and cable. Full hook up. - Gatorgrammie
Jun 2012 - $25.00
Pulled off the highway looking for an overnight stay. Found this park way out in the country. Beautiful setting with super friendly staff. Great diving area available along with swimming and recreation. Great, off the beat spot for family vacationing at a reasonable price. A,lot of people staying there, but surprisingly quite at night. If I ever traveled through this area again, I would not hesitate to stop. - Jeff MacDonald
Jun 2007 - $18.00
Very primitive, much sand, roads were in disrepair, sites poorly marked. It took us 50 minutes just to get checked in, staff was new and not very professional. This is an excellent Dive site, great swimming area, kind of small. We left a day earlier than we were supposed to. Hopefully they will bring this park up to standards soon. - jericbarg
Jun 2006 - $27.00
Yuk. Sites were awful. Electric boxes falling apart. Only saving grace was the swimming area. A cool spring. I would recommend staying somewhere else and day visiting because this campground is terrible. - skycop
Feb 2017 - $17.00
I wish there was a way that I could add a picture to this review because it is so beautiful here. This evening I sat outside on the dock near my campsite listening to the crickets and the frogs welcome in the night. The picturesque view of the lake shown pink and purple as the sun set, and as the light faded the stars began to twinkle. An occasional dog barking or child playing echoed with the night sounds, but the peace and serenity of this tiny little campground has made it one of my favorite stops. The campground itself sits on the edge of the lakefront and our site was spacious and easy to get into. Lola, the owner of the campground, was super sweet and went out of her way to make us feel welcome. I would highly recommend this little gem and hope we can come back again someday. - TheCampingFamily
Dec 2015 - $15.00
Very friendly staff, only a couple of nightly sites so calling would be smart to ensure a spot. I only saw 2 drive through sites and mine was long but this campground would be a better fit for smaller units, maybe less than 38 ft. Quiet setting and extremely well kept right on the lake. No sewer hook ups but they did have a dump station. Many long term rigs but it was neat and clean and well run. We will try to return and stay longer. Only a couple of easy driving miles off the freeway. - weighit
Apr 2013 - $15.00
See June 2012 review for more info. This CG is no 10, but is a very good value with Passport America. We paid $12 plus $1.50 for cable (a pretty good lineup appx. 65 stations) and tax so it was $29 for 2 nights. The Wi-Fi was very good. The area is not the best and the town like many others does not offer much. The CG itself has lots of old dated trailers, but we had no problems. Everyone pretty much keeps to themselves here. There are two sites that have side but side hookups and no sewer. The one facing the pond is not bad. We were in the other and very close to the sites on either side. These are the pull through sites and the largest. Not very big rig friendly so I would not recommend it for anything over 38'. We would stop again if passing thru the area. Overall a solid value with PA and a not a bad place for a night or two. - Bob and Inga
Nov 2015 - $20.00
Great little overnight spot if you are in the area. They have a few big rig friendly sites and you do. To have to unhook your car. Owner has you call when you get off the freeway and she gives directions and mets you outside the campground. Then takes you to your spot and ensures you get level. Right on lake and you can sit on deck and enjoy the water. - Buspuppies
Mar 2015 - $19.00
Clean level gravel sites. Well spaced on gentle slope to lake. 30/50 amp service. Very quiet and private. The proprietor is very helpful and friendly. We would stay here again. - allure 470
Mar 2015 - $22.00
We pulled in for only one evening but the view, friendliness as well as peacefulness of the park kept us another day. A piece of Old Florida. A lovely deck on the water with tables and chairs to sit an enjoy the lake. - Dave's Wife
Jan 2017 - $43.00
We have spent many visits at this park's sister resort, Camp Gulf. The owner and managers have been working on this park for two years to bring it up to Camp Gulf's standards. This is a beautiful location in a peaceful location out of town, but only eight miles with easy access. We were there to teach an advanced RV inspector training class, as we will be in February and March. The clubhouse was perfect for our needs! The facilities are brand new, the sites are concrete with services on either side so you can choose which way you want to park and have services where you need them. Most sites have a great view of the lakes and many are lakeside. The managers are most helpful in working with is to make our event a success! - Howard Jaros
Nov 2016 - $43.00
This campground is the epitome of my dream campground. I am so happy I found this place and will definitely return for a longer stay even though I live in Colorado. The campsites all have views of this beautiful, serene lake. The sites are paved and very spacious. You should see the bathrooms! I can't say enough good things about Twin Lakes...except I'll be back! - Sammy23
Oct 2016 - $43.00
Twin Lakes Camp Resort is on the smallish side but it is nestled among pine trees where each RV site has a view of either Holly or King Lake. Construction of new RV, tent and tree house sites are underway. When entering the park use caution and creep forward as there is large diagonally oriented speed bump which will cause your vehicle to rock side to side, the longer the wheelbase the more prominent the rock. Each pull thru or back-in site is full hook up with 50/30/20-amp w/breakers, water, at least one sewer hookup and cable TV. The cable TV is a mix of analog and digital and is weak at some sites. We used a cable TV amplifier to get a viewable picture. Sites where rooftop satellite dishes can see the sky are few in number but portable dish users may have an easier time. We were able to use our DISH service but only for standard def programming. The wifi works well and we had 3 out of 5 bars on our Verizon devices. Staff is friendly and helpful. And this park is very quiet and dark at night...star gazing is amazing. No swimming in the lakes but you can rent a boat or launch your own or fish from the shore or docks. All sites have at least some shade during the day. There are showers and a pool which we did not use. We will definitely stay here again. - rk911
