20 Parks near Theodore, Alabama
Jul 2008 - $25.00
Without going into great detail, allow me to merely state that were were treated rudely by the owner/management. The available amenities are in poor repair, the landscaping had been let go badly and the grass was un-mowed. We were infested by sugar ants throughout our stay. This is more of a long-term stay park with lots of mobile homes interspersed among the RVs. The park sites are not level as the park is located on a slope. The office doesn't keep an regular hours. Next time we'd rather drive an extra hour out of our way to avoid this miserable park. Why it is rated by Trailer Life I can't imagine. - oRV
Nov 2007 - $22.00
Although close to Mobile, this is not a campground. It is a full time trailer park with 8 sites for transients. The park is for sale and the owner/manager does not seem interested in renting out overnight spots. In fact, he was downright rude. No restrooms, no facilities and a very narrow road make this a poor choice for an overnight stay in Mobile. We will not return. - lmg
Jun 2007 - $20.00
We were here only 1 night but it was comfortable and nice. - fdr
Mar 2016 - $15.00
While this is a "no frills" kind of campground, we enjoyed our month stay. While the majority of campers here are permanent, it was like it's own little community and everyone welcomed you with a wave. Marlene and Jimmy, the park managers were welcoming, helpful and just really nice folks. There are 3 washers and 3 dryers, a bit expensive at 1.75 each but they were good sized. We used the showers once (last day of stay), they were functional with good pressure and hot water, but while clean, they could definitely use some updating. Great little park for a couple of nights or a couple of weeks. - Outlaw Pilots
Jan 2016 - $25.00
I'm not sure why this park has not received any reviews since 2013, but it is still here and has spots available for daily, weekly, or monthly. We pulled in for two nights and stayed for two weeks. Make sure to ask about weekly rates as they do not advertise them over daily rate. This park is dated, make sure to wear your flipflops to the shower (as we are self-contained, we did not use the showers but we did walk in for a look). There is laundry on-site, we did not use it, but the machines looked to be in okay condition. The wifi was amazing! Our connection was never slow or interrupted. The only thing about this park that I will stress is that it is located in a neighborhood. I would highly recommend that big-rigs take Howell's Ferry Rd and making your turn onto Dover, this will allow you to avoid the low hanging trees through-out the rest of the neighborhood. - FueledbyFreedom
Oct 2013 - $32.00
Manager was friendly and helpful at check-in. They only take checks and cash, no plastic. I just stayed overnight, so didn't check out the full park. Wi-Fi was reliable and moderate speed (I was two spots away from main office). Many of the spaces appeared to be longer-term residents, but the grounds were well-kept and virtually spotless. A convenient, quiet, nice little place for an overnight stop. - FrankTX
Apr 2014 - $25.00
Generally run down with many permanent residents. We were parked in one of the pull throughs at the front of the park. Tried to dump tanks but had to stop as they were having major problems with the septic system for this area of the park. Don't care to expand on that subject any more than I have to. Lots of noise during the day with traffic coming and going and sirens passing by on the street. Not a park I would recommend staying at. - DennisD
Nov 2012 - $25.00
Staff friendly and helpful. Many large trees. Mostly permanent residents. About a dozen pull through spots up front for pass-through rigs. Gravel pads but all slope up-hill a bit; requiring raising the back end (which I don't like to do on jacks) Wifi is fine. Cable fairly good on local channels but not most cable channels despite their extensive list. 30 amp voltage on the high side, approaching 128-130 volts. - 26Isata
Apr 2012 - $22.00
Not much for what I would call fancy, BUT it was a decent place to hook up and feel fairly safe for the night. Did use laundry room and it was OK. The place seems to need to be kept after, and maintenance brought up, but it was quiet enough and worked out for us. Sewer outlet near rear of space so bring extra sewer hose and only one outlet on each site. Looked to be many long term campers here. It was right off I-10 close to the exit so it is easy to find. - JohnNLinda
Jun 2016 - $22.00
Great place for an overnight stop. It was clean, quiet, friendly staff, and level. Would stay here again. - junmy3
Mar 2016 - $22.00
Very nice, quiet, friendly no-frills campground. Owners very nice and grounds were clean and freshly mowed. Did not give a 10 only because the sites and roads were not paved. About 7 miles from Bellingrath Gardens and not too far off interstate. Perfect lay-over for travelers, as several campers here were. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.
Lot spacing was nearby with some shade. Site surface was grass and features a picnic table. - Countrygal1
Feb 2016 - $21.00
Park is nice with large, level grass sites and a small pond. Owners are very nice. Full hook-ups. Pull-throughs and back-ins. Quiet. Our biggest issue was NO wifi and no cable - both of which are advertised as existing. We left after one night because we were looking for a place with wifi. If that had been working, we would have stayed longer. - DrM Traveler
Jun 2015 - $30.00
It was difficult navigating the narrow, tree-lined roads in our 42' motor home towing our car. If there were a better choice in the neighborhood we would stop there, but this is it for that area.
It is fairly easy to reach from I-65.
Noise was not a problem. - Pamela R.
Nov 2012 - $30.00
We used this as an overnight stop and, as such, it worked OK, but I'd never stay longer than overnight. This park is mostly permanents with tight, cramped spaces. The trees need major trimming. The lady in the office was very pleasant and helpful, however. Nothing at all special. We will probably not return. - Gypsy Turtles
Jul 2010 - $29.00
Overnight stay. Arrived 4pm, and escorted to our site quickly. Used Good Sam discount. Site was very level. A kids party was going on upon arrival but they stopped as quiet hours started. Park is full of a lot of permanent residents. Most of them are very well kept. All were friendly. We could barely hear the traffic from our RV but walking the dogs you can definitely hear it. Nice large trees and birds abound. Enjoyed the stay. - SiteCR2
Apr 2016 - $20.00
We arrived late and could barely understand the speech of the park kiosk attendant and the instructions on how to find our site (he was out of maps) so we got on the wrong road and had an ordeal turning our 43' bus around. Went back to the kiosk and no one was there. Some helpful campers gave us directions to find the campground and then we were shocked to see how narrow the pull-through actually was. We made it by backing in and managed to get hooked up. Since it was only overnight, we did not see anything more of the campground or the surrounding area except for some questionable characters around us. Wish we had stayed in the Walmart parking lot. I would not recommend this to anyone except as a last resort. - coloradoflyfisher
Nov 2014 - $20.00
Of all the parks we stayed at on our 5 month trip through the south this is one of only two where I would probably not return.
The park was a typical county run park. a little run down and need of a little clean up but overall not bad.
Unfortunately it is in a really run down part of town. Venturing to and from after dark seemed like a really bad idea. The roads in and out were not in very good shape. - digger2280
Jan 2014 - $22.00
Stayed here for one night only. Was good for the price. Very woody, sites not real close to others. Getting to the park was kind of through a residential area, but not too bad. Going out was through a more iffy part of town so I was glad it was morning and not midnight. Would probably stay again if needed overnight. - lpoebowen
Jun 2016 - $40.00
We've traveled from Phoenix, AZ for the past 8 days and this was the most expensive campground. It also had the best view and nice tall pines, so it was worth the few extra dollars. No internet, but level site pads for pull-throughs. Full hook-ups made it easy to set up. Would recommend. - Caro
Jan 2016 - $32.00
Rate reflects 15% senior discount given except Sat. Full hookups, free wifi. Easy on and off I-10. Some noise from Mobile Bay Causeway truck traffic, yet mostly quiet. Site #6 offered clear view for satellite signal. No sugar ants this stay because it was so cold. Fishing pier. Good birding. Security gate currently not working. Standup grills. - SunStar203
Jan 2016 - $38.00
Rainy weekend but site drained well with no standing water. Wifi was weak, but Verizon 4G was four bars so hotspot worked well. Staff was friendly and inviting. Bathroom was clean when we arrived. No fire rings, but a grill was mounted in each site. Picnic tables well built and functional. Sits right on the bay with no highway noise from I-10. HD TV received many channels by air; no cable TV available. - ArmyColonel
Jan 2016 - $42.00
The sewer hook up was not standard. The entry pipe was too small for standard connections so we were unable to use sewer. I assume if we'd ask they had some sort of adapter but we discovered it in the morning when we were getting ready to leave and didn't feel like dealing with it. There was no picnic table. In backing in we discovered that there was a change in the angle of the pad so that when we unhooked, the truck was angled downward to the trailer. - sp123
Sep 2015 - $14.00
Nice park with level concrete pads. Good hook-ups with convenient location. ATT signal for cell good & good Wi-Fi signal. Location is close to Fairhope & 30 minutes from Gulf. Will definitely stay here again. - Smooth Running
May 2014 - $30.00
The park is very clean and the bathrooms are the nicest I have seen. Great place to stay while visiting Fairhope and Mobile. The staff was very nice and helped us with our dog problem. We were so thankful for her assistance. Would stay here again and so should you. - mga60tw
May 2008 - $26.00
This park appears to be going through some change. The sign at the entrance says Bay Park RV Park. All the literature and the web site says Alabama Port RV Park. Office is an Anchor Realty office. They have approximately 10 new concrete sites that they are listing as RV sites for sale. All of the others are either back in or pull through gravel lots. The lots are level and easy to get into. The bath house is a mess. On the men's side, the toilets are not clean and several do not appear to work. There is one shower that has a curtain and appears to be used somewhat regularly as there are personal bath items left in there permanently. The building appears to be of fairly recent construction and it looks like they just did not finish it nor maintain it. The woman's side is of a similar condition according to my wife. There is an abundance of garbage around the perimeter of the park and the dumpster is overflowing. Park personnel are aware of it as they were mowing the grass close to it today. The park does have potential to be a nice place, but I cannot recommend it in it's current condition. - mwallace61
May 2016 - $18.00
Very nice with paved roads and gravel sites. Long back in and very long concrete pull thru sites. On Hwy 90 and 2 miles off I-10. Many towering trees for almost complete canopy of shade. Only a few sites with satellite signals. Cable tv, antenna TV good, no wi-fi. Good cell signal. Nice pool and large on-site fishing pond with walk path. Good on-site restaurant. OK for big rigs. Mostly seasonal rigs but well maintained. Park clean and staff helpful. Will stay there again. - Pepper Dan
May 2016 - $18.00
A very neat and clean campground with mostly spacious sites. Some sites are all concrete, but ours was a level limestone pull-thru with a concrete patio. Entire campground is shaded with lots of huge oak trees and I loved all the squirrels running around. Mostly permanent residents living here, but all campsites are clean, no outside junk, and no real old nor FEMA campers. Friendly neighbors, a nice 12 acre fishing pond, new pool and a restaurant with good food on grounds. Sites did not have picnic tables, BBQ pits nor firepits which we don't use anyway unless grandkids are with us. Did not use laundry or bathhouses, so cannot comment on this. I recommend and will definitely stay here again - but will request to be further away from the noisy, busy highway next time. - Countrygal1
Apr 2016 - $29.00
This was a one night stay. I requested, and received, a pull-through lot. It was tilted hard to one side. There were two large trees, one on either side of the lot. I had to move the trailer a couple of times to clear the trees with the slide outs. The trees were 22" away on one side and 12" on the other.
There was a sewer leak in the lot next door with sewage pooling to the surface. The garbage dumpster was full and had food, trash and other debris all around. It apparently had not been cleaned up for quite some time.
There were two cable connections at the service box. One in a box, one hanging loose. Neither one worked. I complained at the office and the lady working there told me she would have a maintenance man come look at the problem. He never showed up.
The Wi-Fi was not working and during my visit to the office, I asked about that also. I was told that due to all the large oak trees in the park, sometimes it was very hard to get a Wi-Fi signal. The Wi-Fi antenna was on a pole in the lot next to ours so that excuse doesn't work.
The "park" itself has some beautiful trees and there is a lake that we walked our dogs around. But there are a lot of long term residents and some of their trailers are really trashy.
Even though we only stayed overnight, we won't go there again. If you advertise that you have Wi-Fi and cable service, I expect them to work.
I also expect a "RV Resort" to be neat, trimmed and clean. This place was not. - Crabman
