Love the park! Sites are close together and it's a tad run down (like many AL State Parks) but it's dark and quiet at night and the sunrise over the lake is beautiful! - MSSW

I was able to make reservations after repeated calls. This indicated to me that no one is there the majority of time. Despite leaving many messages I was never called back. I kept trying and finally got someone. The road to the park was very narrow. I did not see how any RV coming and going could pass on that particular road. That was quite a concern. Then I arrived at the office and no one was there. A note said just find a place and someone would be by to collect the money. I used the restroom at the office and they were very dirty and the toilet didn't flush. The lots seem very close with narrow distances between the lots. It had a beautiful lake nearby but with the entrance in and out being a safety concern, the condition of the office facilities and the lots not being what I found favorable, I turned around and left and found a private campground. I was very disappointed as I had read such favorable reviews. This campground is on my list of places not to return to. - HMathis58

The spaces were level and long enough for my 42 ft 5th wheel and still had my truck in front. The spaces are within 50 feet of the water and each space had a campfire ring, picnic table, fantastic water pressure and full sewer hookups. There were no bright lights so the view of the stars at night was great. The park is first-come, first serve and they do not take reservations. Lots of folks seem to like this place for horseback riding - as we have seen several trailers show up and folks head up on the trails on horseback. The roads were easy to navigate. This park was re-opened recently and the local county and local folks have taken over management from the state and they're making it very comfortable. There are no trains, roads or other noises to bother you and it's great for fishing or just relaxing. - Don Self

I was the only rv there besides a pop up in a different area. Host said I could choose a different spot since not many campers. But all the waterfront sites looked fine to me. The park is well kept and easy to move around in a large rv. It has a fence because of the steep bank of the beautiful river. No major roads are near, it was very quiet. the host was extremely accomodating. Nice park. - maine charactor

Lovely park, host took us in her van to the best site in park. Lot 15. Rate reflects America the Beautiful senior rate. Get local directions. GPS won't get you there. 5 miles on old paved road. Started to turn around several times, but glad I didn't. This place is a gem! - Genecolleen
Apr 2013 - $18.00
This is a nice COE park with large trees, large sites, kids playgrounds and access to fishing. This is a very nice park and apparently is only full during summer weekends. They even have laundry facilities. What great value. It would be a nice place to spend some time and television is available via antenna. Access signage is a little inadequate so be sure you have good local directions. It is best to come from the Selma entrance. We would certainly stay again if in the area. - lrp374

Mar 2018 - $12.00
An excellent park overall. Typical of COE, it is we designed and built. Sites are spacious and level. Electric and water hookups work well. There is an abundance of facilities including a boat ramp, multiple boat docks where you can tie up your boat, multiple playgrounds, multiple bath houses, water overlooks, a sports court, etc. Almost all the sites are on the water. There are five pull through sites (2, 24-26 and 36), of which only 36 is on the water side. The bathrooms and showers are OK, but they really need to get a power washer in there and just clean the heck out of it. The playground equipment also needs power washing. The gate staff was friendly and helpful. - MNroadie

We really liked this campground. It is an older campground with fairly narrow roads, but we made it through just fine with our long bed pickup and 40' fifth wheel. We had a very long level pull through on the top of the hill. They did specify that sewer hoses had to be off the ground. Nice and dark at night except for a few people who felt compelled to leave their outside lights on, even when they weren't outside. Bathrooms were very clean although just one bathroom/shower for men, and one for women. Good laundry facilities. Very nice clean pool. The hosts were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and gave good advice about where-to-go and what-to-do. Free movies and books to borrow. We would stay here again. - Hoopy Frood
Aug 2018 - $41.00
The lady at the office was extremely friendly and helpful. She was cheerful and led us to our site with a smile. However, the roads were very bumpy and pretty narrow for our MH. The site that we were assigned was pretty level, very shady, and very long. We were in a 42' MH. It was pretty expensive for what you get. - Gunny69
Sep 2017 - $31.00
We've stayed here in our motorhome several times, most recently as evacuees from Florida during Hurricane Irma. The owners are great and very accommodating. They have several spacious sites for large RV's up in the back of the park. We didn't use the bathrooms or showers but they appeared clean and well tended. All in all, a very nice experience. We'll be staying there again. - jackndoe
