2 Parks near Woodville, Alabama
Oct 2015 - $18.00
We were looking for a camp site for the night near the Unclaimed Baggage store in Scottsboro, and this was close and on the way. We arrived at the state park at night without reservations but the gate to the park and visitors center was closed. We were about to leave when a Ranger pulled up behind us and pointed out that we had passed the campground road a few hundred feet back and we could just pick a spot and pay in the morning (just watch for the small campground sign on the right just after you make the last turn to the park road). He then helped us back into one of the electric back-in sites, which were actually pretty wide and long enough to allow us to keep our 16' Camper and pickup attached.
The sites are all grass, entered from a gravel loop road. The electric and water sites appear to be back-in, and there are a few primitive pull-through sites inside the loop, mostly used by tenters and class B vans.
The restroom was well lit and clean. They hope to get a dump station next year, but there was none available at this time.
This would be an excellent spot for a visit to the nice caverns at this state park, they are just up the hill at the visitors center. - johnhag

Nice while passing through. Highway noise. Great hosts. Would stay here again, if in area. - Bubblehead651

Located adjacent to US Route 72 with easy access but this does result in some road noise. Interior roads and sites are gravel and well kept but tight for a 40 ft motorhome. Most sites appear to be reasonably level. Power and water pressure were good. The sewer connection was several inches above ground making dumping somewhat tricky. The Wi-Fi signal was weak at our site and we could only access the Internet intermittently. The bathhouse was modern and clean; the laundry appeared serviceable but had no a/c and was hot during the day. They have a salt-water pool which was one of the cleanest I have seen. The fitness center is tiny without a/c, making it unusable when we visited. They do not offer cable but do rent Direct TV receivers though not every site has a dish. Sites are satellite friendly. There is little or no shade. We had 4G reception on AT&T. The park is pet-friendly with a very small dog run. This park seems best for 1-2 nights while traveling on US Route 72. In that circumstance, we would stay here again. - wmbarryd

Interior roads a little narrow and new gravel was still mushy. A bit noisy from Hwy 72, but overall a quaint, rustic park with FHU and maintained neatly. You'll giggle at the "fitness center & tanning salon". - rvrrat520
