This appears to be an older park. There are some holes in the paved roads but not near as many as we've encountered in AK. The road noise is really bad from the Glenn Highway which is nearby. It starts at about 5 AM and continues until bedtime. The electric sites are closest to the highway. The sites are all shaded and have been stabilized with gravel. There wasn't much traffic inside the park until later in the evening. Since it doesn't get dark till near 11 PM, many rv's come in late at night. We did see a police car ride through as well as one pass by two private security cars at the same time. There was quite a bit of foot traffic and an old Honda riding around late at night that had no tail lights. Many of the dry camping sites are closed due to bear activity in the area. We camped at Centennial Park Campground in a Motorhome.

All kinds of shopping and restaurants in Anchorage which include Costco and Sam's Club. There was a VZ store near the park. All kinds of activites. We went to the Anchorage Museum but didn't allow enough time to see it .

Stayed here 3 days while seeing Anchorage. I have mixed feelings about this park. Nice woodsy campground with level gravel spacious lots. The staff are nice & friendly. BUT! There are several glaring problems with this park. There are a lot of transients wandering through this park night & day & they will steal anything they can get their hands on. Big bear problem in the park. The road noise from nearby Glenn Hwy is deafening & nonstop. The theft problem is so bad they have a guard patrolling the grounds every night. They ask you to report anyone that looks like they don't belong there. It's a shame because it has the potential to be a very nice park. it was the least expensive of any park in town. We camped at Centennial Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Very friendly staff. We had black bears destroying the trash dumpsters twice. Very entertaining. The park was never full but only about 1/3 of sites have electricity. We camped at Centennial Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Campsites are wooded, level, clean, nice sites with power, picnic tables and fire rings. Park personnel are friendly and helpful. The bathrooms and showers are horrible, dirty, and basic. No soap to wash hands with nor hand dryers of any kind. Anchorage should be ashamed to claim it as a city park with bathrooms like these. We camped at Centennial Park Campground in a Truck Camper.

We stayed here for two nights and although we only had an electric hookup (the power was good per our PI EMS) we really enjoyed this municipal park. Except for some road noise from the close by Glenn Highway it was quiet and we liked the woodsy feel and a bit larger than normal campsites. Perhaps they have changed staff, but we found the staff very friendly and they seemed to take pride in their park and did have staff patrolling. It was convenient to the places we wanted to see in Anchorage. While I personally think $35 per night for only an electric hookup is a bit high, it is Anchorage, Alaska! We would definitely stay here again and recommend this campground. We camped at Centennial Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Definitely go see the Alaska Native Heritage Center just across the Glenn Highway from the campground. It is definitely worth the cost of admission, which was $43 for two people with the senior discount.

Scary! This is by far the worst campground we have encountered in the last ten thousand miles and two years of camping. The restrooms were filthy, one set of restrooms was closed because they "couldn't keep them clean." The staff does not seem to care about the facility. The park appears to be a homeless camp, and vehicles come in the evening to use the restrooms after the staff leaves. We would not return under any circumstances. We camped at Centennial Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Do Not Stay here. This place is not safe. Police arrived our first evening to investigate something in a nearby tent. Police were patrolling regularly the 2 days we were there. I have never been in a campground that needed police protection, but this one has it. The majority of campers seem to be homeless people. Many sites are so full of junk, it looks like the "campers" have been there for months. One "camper" walked around the camp carrying an 8-foot spear, an 18 Inch knife, bear spray and 2 dogs. Another walked around with a pit bulldog who had a metal muzzle. Not exactly your camper types. Then there is the nastiness of the place. I had to put on rubber gloves and clean the trash off of our site before we pulled the trailer in. The bathrooms were literally filthy when we got there and by the 2nd day they had never been cleaned. Trash cans overflowing and never dumped. This place needs to be closed down by the police. If you value your camper and your personal safety, do not stay here. We camped at Centennial Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a city park which is trying to update it's amenities. It now has 21 sites with electrical service, within the past 4-5 years, but still no water. Compared to the other RV parks in Anchorage, it is a gem! At least there are trees and you aren't slide to awning with your neighbor. The staff here is more than willing to work with you, (putting you into an electrical site at the first opportunity) and very helpful. The bathrooms leave a lot to be desired though, dirty and old. I wouldn't use them unless I was desperate. I would stay here again. We camped at Centennial Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here because the park has hot showers. However, from the beginning, this park scared us. Many of the people camping here appeared to be homeless and our site was filled with broken auto glass. We were afraid to leave the trailer here for fear it would be broken into. Staff was friendly. We left after one night to find a safer place. We camped at Centennial Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Nothing special. Only 2-3 pull through sites. Not level. Old city park, that is basically run-down and in an old part of town. OK for a night or so. Not worth the price, but not much else worthwhile in Anchorage. We camped at Centennial Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a city park. The sites are older but do-able for a large rig. No power but water and a dump is available. It was quiet but does have some long term rigs. Nice staff. A good option if driving through or for one or two nights. Many rental class C units stay for the night before drop off. We camped at Centennial Park Campground in a Motorhome.
