This park is in Anchorage Alaska... Not a lot of choices. Golden Nugget has an entire section that is permanent residents. That section does not appear to follow the same rules. Most of the permanents have decent RVs but a few in need of major repair. Lots of things under their RVs, and on the outside. Looks pretty seedy. With that said, fairly quiet and somewhat safe. Costco right across the street. Fred Meyer's and Walmart close by. Nice areas around to tour - the earthquake and a few others. Not as bad as some make it.. We camped at Golden Nugget RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park has an A side and a B side separated by a low fence. The A side is a trailer park with some sleazy trailers. The B-side is for RVs, with level gravel sites and FHUs. Like other Anchorage "downtown" RV parks, this one is located in a somewhat seedy part of town... most of Anchorage seems to have a homeless population problem. Staff was functional, not attentive. There was a security vehicle with flashing lights making occasional rounds, which was a good thing. OK Verizon; wifi worked when not overloaded in evenings. I notice some sites with broken glass in the gravel sites so I don't think they were cleaning them at all. We camped at Golden Nugget RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Kincaid Park has lots of walking and biking trails in Anchorage. Flat Top Mountain has good overviews of Anchorage, if it's not too windy and cold (as it was when we visited in late May). Potter Marsh was a bust for wildlife viewing. The Bridge restaurant was OK for seafood and a walk along Ship Creek - king salmon season had just started and there were anglers galore.

You are close to food stores and Costco . If you want to get a manicure it's 3 blocks away . Park needs to repair their roads , a ness. Also they didn't have 1 recycle container , we were with a group and stayed 3 days a lot of water bottles and cans could of been collected .

I had a back in gravel site. It took one, 1 inch board to level side to side. Small patch of grass on each side of trailer; there was a picnic table provided. AT&T worked very well. WI-FI was excellent on both my cell phone and laptop. About 11 over the air TV stations. Would stay here again if traveling through. We camped at Golden Nugget RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very large park. Sites separated by very small patch of grass but no real privacy between spaces. Bathrooms were clean but smelled bad so did not use. WiFi was off and on, but sadly more off. The park is very convenient to shopping, eating, and visiting Anchorage. There is a nice city park across the street. Laundromat was large and reasonably priced. Parking our truck once we disconnected took most of our "yard" space. We camped at Golden Nugget RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This essentially is a trailer park. It has two sections. One more refined and the other (where we were sited) a dump. 80% of the sites in the dump are occupied by full time residents who seem to not be required to follow the rules. Sites are close and gravel but the full hookups worked well. Good news? Costco is right across the street and Fred Meyers and Wal-Mart are two miles away. Relatively easy to access. We had reserved a second stay on the return from the Kenai Peninsula but have cancelled to go on to Willow on our way to Denali. We camped at Golden Nugget RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are two Costco stores in town. The one across the street is not as well stocked as the one just off Old Seward Highway on the way south. That one has easy in for fuel (diesel was $2.27 a gallon on July 10, 2017). Another Fred Myers and well-populated mall are also nearby.

We came in late around 11 and paid the 40 dollars for a very small slot with only electric. Very expensive for that. Next day asked to dump shower water and pick up some fresh water in the truck camper and was told this was another 5 dollars. Never have I had to pay extra for dump and water at a commercial site. That is the main reason for bad rating. Otherwise a plain, very average RV park. We camped at Golden Nugget RV Park in a Truck Camper.

After reading the other reviews, I am thinking most of those were written by folks who have not done much camping in Alaska private campgrounds. Compared to most of the other private campgrounds we have stayed at in Alaska (which we try to minimize), this one is a decent value. We were in 191 along the back fence, which was a level 30A back-in with room for our 35 foot rig and tow car. The bathrooms and showers were clean and functional, the laundry was reasonable (for Alaska) with plenty of machines that worked, and there was plenty of shopping close by. We camped at Golden Nugget RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here twice in 2017, once going south and then on our return trip from the Kenai. This is a large park, and the transients like us are put on a side where there are good sized sites. We had wifi, but used our antenna for local tv. It's next to a public park that has a path to a school field which was great for our dogs. Although outside the main city, there are more stores, restaurants, and places for supplies. We would recommend this campground. We camped at Golden Nugget RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Unfortunately, if you're a large rig and want electric then this is the only game in town, and they know it. The rate is way too high for the quality of the park. The roads are paved which is nice, but narrow with a lot of cars parked alongside, so maneuvering is difficult. The gravel sites are very tight & short; ours had a very low spot so we had to use blocks under our jacks. We couldn't fit into any of the pull-throughs as they said they were 45' but couldn't have even been 40'. We ended up using 2 smaller sites (back to back) and turned it into a pull-through. There is grass between the sites, but the dandelions were about a foot tall and it seemed like they hadn't mowed at all. There are a lot of full-time residents with junky lots even though their 'rules' say you can't have anything like that. The WiFi never let me connect for the 4 days we were there. Our Dish satellite worked if you could aim between the trees. The location is very convenient to Anchorage and stores, but is located on a main boulevard across from Costco so there was a lot of traffic noise, sirens and motorcycles. In addition you're right under the light path from the airport, again more noise. If we had any other choices we would stay somewhere else, but unfortunately we don't. We camped at Golden Nugget RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Spaces very short, very close. Restrooms old, very dirty, not clean; 16 yr old didn't even want to take showers in restrooms. No nightly entertainment as mentioned on their website. Internet didn't work, reported several times, staff said nothing's wrong with it. Folks live there year round. They also own the trailer park attached. You can not wash motorhome at park. Spaces are very tight. Close in. Request a back in if you have large trailer. Requested 50 amp got 30. They were pretty full and we did not make advance reservations. Pleases to get 30. Site was nearly level where we parked but under the uncut grass where steps are is an uneven hole. Difficult for disabled wife. Stayed 4 nights heard close gun shots on two. NOT from within park but VERY close. First night had rubber ball cover stolen. We camped at Golden Nugget RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This park is located close to town. Sites had room between RV with a grass area. Pull thru sites were closer spaced than back in sites which we had. Water pressure was not great. Overall all this is a good park for this area. Sites were level. We camped at Golden Nugget RV Park in a Motorhome.

This park is conveniently located in an Anchorage suburb fairly close to anything you'll need. Unfortunately, it's also nestled in among a large area of mobile homes so be crime aware. Sites are level gravel & short for today's rigs. My back in was barely 35' long so I had to park my pickup between my RV & my neighbor's with just inches to spare. The pull thrus are slightly longer at perhaps 40' with about 12' & some grass between rigs. Tow cars are scattered helter skelter as folks look for space. The interior road was paved and wide enough to make back ins fairly easy. No cable TV at our site but you'll get several channels over the air. Park has wifi that works when it wants to. The laundry was very large & reasonable at $2.00 washer. Verizon had a strong signal. Overall, this park met our needs despite tight parking. We camped at Golden Nugget RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The price above reflects their stay for 8, pay for 7 nights deal. We had a back-in spot which was fine to get into though the sites were close. Parking our Jeep was a bit tight when our neighbors had their vehicles at their sites also. The hook-ups were fine and easy to use. The site was level and had a picnic table provided. The wi-fi was as good as many other parks - sometimes it worked, sometimes, not. The campground was convenient to shopping and to sites in Anchorage. We would stay again if in Anchorage.
