We were in the upper portion of the CG, overlooking Kachemak Bay and mountains across the bay. Staff and host camper were great, very informative. The sites are spacious back-ins with convenient placement of the utilities. There are picnic tables and fire pits. We enjoyed our stay here and would return if in the area again. We camped at Homer / Baycrest KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There are too many things to see and do here. Homer Spit is the tourist destination. There are cruises, float plane flights, lots of places to dine or set and enjoy the sunsets. Captain Patty's is excellent but it helps to make a reservation. Old Town Homer is worth a visit. There is a National Wildlife Visitor Center with hiking trails.

Overall Rating:

Located behind a Tesoro convenience store, it has recently become affiliated with KOA. The prices have jumped dramatically. It is located about 4 miles outside of Homer on a bluff 700' above Kachemack Bay. The sites are pullin/backin to a rail fence affording most sites a scenic view. Those on the upper level are diagonal and most fit shorter RVs. Some in the lower level are in pie shaped wedge sites. We were assigned a site where the connections were on the wrong side for a trailer. Our neighbor had a Class-A and naturally wanted a windshield view, but since we had a shared post, he too had to run his hose and power under his rig to the door side. Some of those sites are too close together if the rigs are long. 4 washers @ $4/load, 4 dryers @ $2/load but 2 dryers were out of service. They are adding pull through sites closer to the road. The views were excellent, and it was considerably quieter than those on the Spit. They have priced themselves out of our interest and we will likely go elsewhere when we return. We camped at Homer / Baycrest KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

4 miles to town down a 6% grade and another 4 miles to the Spit. Too far to walk. Several good choices to eat in town and on the Spit. The Pratt Museum was very interesting. Boat to Gull Island is great for bird enthusiasts, and boat to Seldovia was a nice getaway for the day. Homer as much of the Kenai is a major attaction for fishermen.

Sites are a bit tight and sewer connection is too far away from other connections. Neighbor's sewer was within our site and ours was about 12 feet from ours. Had to use leveling blocks. Tent campers on the hill just behind our site. Site too short to park 24' TT and truck. Building some new sections. Beautiful views of the inlet and the volcanos. Staff were friendly. Convenient location. Pair of resident eagles. We camped at Homer / Baycrest KOA in a Travel Trailer.

A few miles outside of Homer, so driving required to get anywhere. Unusually high priced and laundry was $4 for one of two washing machines. You pay for the view I suppose which was excellent. Site was on bluff several hundred feet above Cook Inlet with views to multiple volcanoes in the distance across the water. All back-in sites. Utility connections at rear of site. Park was clean and easy-in/out, but we'd stay at one of the multiple parks down in Homer on the Spit of we visited again. We camped at Homer / Baycrest KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Captain Pattie's is a great seafood restaurant and seafood market with good view. Take a $75 water taxi (round trip) across the bay to Kachemak State Park for easy and rewarding day hike to Grewingk Glacier Lake. For local info, the Chamber of Commerce has very helpful staff and brochures.

I had a level, back in, gravel site. It was necessary to turn my rig 180 degrees to back into my site. There was a picnic table and fire pit. I had a pie shaped site so parking my truck was a little weird to not block the sites on either side of me. As other have stated, the view from the cliffs was fantastic. I was on the lower tier. AT&T worked well. The WI-FI was fine. We camped at Homer / Baycrest KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This park had the most awesome views across the bay and mountains; probably the best in all of Alaska that we've seen and it was from the living room window of our coach. Our site was level and pretty spacious (though not all of them are) and it was the only time we've ever been able to unhook our truck from the 5th wheel and pull it straight out front to park....really long sites. The sites that back in to the bluff have grass behind them and it's not like a manicured lawn, so at times it was a little rough....but that only added to the character since the bluff drops straight down behind you. Other than grass there are a few mature trees but not much other landscaping. The gravel roads and sites are fairly level and well maintained. You're just off off the Sterling Hwy but it's not noisy at all. Our Dish satellite worked well, but their free WiFi didn't work sometimes and was a little slow. If we're ever back in Homer we'll definitely stay here again. We camped at Homer / Baycrest KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There is so much to do. Drive the East End Road to see mountian and glaciers. Great restaurants and shops. Grocery store is good. A water taxi on Homer Spit will take you anywhere along the bay, inexpensively. Bald eagles by the beaches. Homer Spit is fun with fishing charters and sightseeing charters, as well as a ferry. Nice people and lots to do. Best views in the world out my windows! Would definitely return!

At Baycrest it is all about the view, as many others have already stated, and that is what you will be paying for. Other than a small camp store and showers and laundry there are no amenities and nothing to do except enjoy the view; assuming you are in an ocean side site. The sites are designed for back in parking, even on the ocean side, so if you are in a motorhome be prepared with long power cable, water hose, and sewer hose extensions if you want to face the ocean for the view. Water pressure is pretty low here. The sites are adequately sized, at least on the "upper" area. Most sites are 30 amp although about a half a dozen have 50 amp. Almost all spaces have sewer as well. They have a small paved overflow lot with nothing but a narrow parking space and even those were full during our stay. And that parking space will cost you $30. The park is clean and tidy and obviously well cared for. The young lady at the office was pleasant. There is a gas station at the entrance to the park with a very small quick stop type store but don't count on finding much more than drinks and candy. They don't really carry groceries so if you need to shop you will have to head to town where there are several full service grocery stores. If you realize the limitations and come for the view you probably won't be disappointed. We camped at Homer / Baycrest KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Homer spit is the tourist hub during the summer and there are lots of shopping and eating establishments. They change from year to year so it's hard to count on things or make recommendations. It is several miles down the hill and out to the spit or shopping in town so if you don't have a toad or some transportation you will be at a disadvantage.

The views from this park make it worth the price! The ability to sit outside (or inside) your camper and watch eagles soar right beside you as you overlook the beautiful Kachemak Bay is priceless and very relaxing! It is very convenient to everything in Homer, too. We camped at Homer / Baycrest KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We were in site 45 on the lower level. I believe they put longer stays down there as 1 looked like they live there and the other told us they were staying for a month. But since not too busy in May, they let us stay there for only 4 days. It is a back in but we pulled in and ran utilites under the coach. The check-in girl had to get permission for us to do this. But with a DP the only view is out the front window and the site was on a cliff overlooking the Cook Inlet. Spectacular! The site next to us, which was vacant had broken glass in and around the firepit and metal tent stakes on the ground. We had to careful when walking on that side. All sites had lots of weeds and scraggly grass that needed attention. It was about 7 miles from town and another couple to the Spit. It was very quiet at night. Would definitely stay there again. Not too many people would give an RV Ppark a 10-Star rating if it didn't have every possible service. So, there is no swimming pool or playground but that wasn't important to me. I gave it 10 stars because the view was the best in Alaska and may be in my top 1% for views out of probably 500 RV Parks and campgrounds that I have stayed at in my 40 years of RVing throughout North America. It is a few miles away from the Spit and this a good thing. No crowds, less wind, the view to die for and a great ownership-management team that runs the park smoothly, efficiently and in a friendly way. This was my second Alaska RV trip and when I do a 3rd, the Baycrest RV Park will be the first one that I reserve in advance. We camped at Homer / Baycrest KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This RV Park has a really nice gas station away from the sites but out on the highway. Good place to gas up if you have just driven The Sterling and will be headed back to Seward or Anchorage. Another tip is that if you want a nice restaurant with a terrific lunch menu and an even better one for dinner, try the Chart Room at the end of the Spit. Lots of variety and all prepared by skilled chefs.

Very nice park on the bluff on the north edge of Homer overlooking Katchemak Bay. Beautiful views out our back window. Some sites have more space than others, ours is quite large. There is grass in most sites. Staff is friendly and helpful. Dog walking is available through 'Homer Hounds' in town if you charter fish or tour.

Lots of space making parking easy for all size rigs. We camped at Homer / Baycrest KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We debated between this park and others on the Homer Spit. If you really want to be next to the water in the midst of the fishing charters and activity the parks on the Spit are preferable. They are the normal Alaska gravel parking lots with rv's side-by-side. We were glad we picked the park on the bluff with views, a little more elbow-room, and quieter. The Spit was only 4 miles away.

Stayed one night. That was enough. Yes, nice view on the bluff, but Alaska is FILLED with beautiful views and eagles. When we arrived, told there was no reservation, until we showed them the e-mail confirmation. My trusty surge protector showed reversed polarity, their only answer was that there have been problems with a lot of the 'new' surge protectors ... of course, not THEIR problem. I wouldn't hook-up, besides, the previous user had overrun the sewer and no one had cleaned the area, it stunk. WE had to go find a site with correct power. The shower is super clean, usable if you're a 'little people'. Over-priced, would not stay here again. We camped at Homer / Baycrest KOA in a Travel Trailer.
