Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Kasilof RV Park is a small park with only 17 spaces, 5 of which are permanently occupied each summer. This is an "extended stay" park. In June and August the minimum stay is a week. In July the minimum stay is a month. They apparently get lots of repeat year to year business. The hookups in the full service sites on the front row are fine but only the front row has sewer, and 4 of those 8 spots are permanently taken. The remainder of the park is water and electric only, although they have a dump station. Wifi was decent while we were here and I'm sure it's partly due to the small number of patrons. Our site was long enough for our 43' pusher without toad, but due to some very unruly trees on both sides we barely got our slides out and couldn't use our awning. Branches scraped the roof and awning housings constantly in the wind.

This is another park that needs to seriously look at clearing out some brush and branches, especially if they want to keep saying they are big rig friendly. There are some turns on the park road and some sites and approaches that are too tight with the existing vegetation and overhanging branches. As it is, I wouldn't consider it as big rig friendly.

All in all this is a quiet, pretty, little park and it is moderately priced by Alaska standards. There is obviously a sense of community among many of the patrons/residents and everyone we met was quite friendly. The gracious lady in the permanent site next to ours walked around our second day and passed out bags of homemade chocolate chip cookies to all the various rigs.

This park is not a destination; it's a jumping off point to much of what the Kenai Penninsula has to offer. Other than a community fire pit, that's it for activities at the park itself.

If you have a normal size rig you will most likely be fine, but 40-45 foot Class A units with tag axles and multiple slides might want to think twice or risk scratching up their paint. We camped at Kasilof RV park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Fishing is quite obviously the main focus but it's quite a ways away. Have a toad or your trailer tow vehicle, or some other way to get to the area attractions.

Really enjoy our stays here. It really is park like and so glad to get away from the parking-lot campground! It was very full in July but still the bathrooms were immaculate as the other review said. We now take our camper there for the whole month and it works out to be cheaper and so much easier for me on set up and getting back and forth. We camped at Kasilof RV park in a Motorhome.

Wooded sites, bigger than most in Alaska located across from Johnson Lake in a rural setting. There was a calm, relaxing atmosphere. Very nice, helpful owners/hosts. Moose in the area. Close enough to Clam Gulch for razor clamming and Soldotna for salmon fishing, yet away from the crowds. We loved it here and would camp here again. We camped at Kasilof RV park in a Motorhome.

We spent 3 nights in this campground. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Bathrooms and showers were immaculate. Had a moose with 2 calves roaming through the campground every evening. Wildflowers blooming everywhere. We would definitely camp here again. We camped at Kasilof RV park in a Fifth Wheel.

The road is paved now, so good access. They've reduced the number of sites to 17. Fair to good gravel roads and large, well spaced pads, mostly level. Their website accurately represents their park. Friendly management. Lots of trees and wild flowers. Would stay here again. We camped at Kasilof RV park in a Fifth Wheel.

A nice campground off the Alaska Highway. We arrived to find the office closed, and had to self-register. We didn’t use the showers (only open from 8 AM until 9 PM). Pull through site large enough for any sized rig. Good over the air TV reception. We would stay here again. We camped at Kasilof RV park in a Travel Trailer.

Owner operated. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. This is a quiet park near the Sterling highway. There’s a nice fishing lake just across the street. And it is close to salmon fishing. Only negative is the dusty gravel road you have to drive to the park. We would definitely come back. We camped at Kasilof RV park in a Fifth Wheel.

Access is by dirt road but the area is nice. The lake right across the road was beautiful. Staff was friendly. We camped at Kasilof RV park in a Travel Trailer.

We spent 2 nights in a motorhome in this excellent and lovely campground. The owner was very helpful and courteous. He provided us local maps, his own typed instructions for different attractions, and tips. The showers and washrooms as well as the entire campground were extremely clean. Beautiful place, lots of vegetation and shade with picnic tables. We were 2 families using sites A6 and A7 with a beautiful view of the nearby lake. This was our best full hook-up campground on a 16-day trip in Alaska (wireless internet works only close to the office. We used the nice office porch). We will definitely come back! We camped at Kasilof RV park in a Motorhome.
