Nice clean campground with full hook-ups and pull-thrus available. Sites are large, especially by Alaskan standards, and have some grass and a picnic table, as well as a gravel pad. Most also have fire rings. The campground is a couple of miles outside Seward, so it is very quiet. You can see mountains around the campground and there is a creek that flows alongside the campground, with a gravel and a grassy area that is nice for walking or exercising your dog. There are a couple of shuttles for tours that come to the campground every day. There is a laundry with reasonable prices ($2.50), restrooms, and free showers. We camped at Stoney Creek RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to go to Exit Glacier. You can walk to overlook the glacier, and it's FREE! The short road getting to the campground is full of potholes, but that isn't the campground's fault. Just go slow and it will be fine.

Overall Rating:

Very basic RV park located in residential neighborhood, 6 miles outside Seward. It advertises as "Seward's only luxury RV park". It is definitely NOT a luxury park. It has dusty gravel roads and level gravel sites. It is surrounded by trees, but none in the park. One side is a glacier river with the adjacent side a large grassy area for kids and pets. Sites are close together, offering little privacy, but adequate room for awnings. Hook ups are convenient and work well. Bath rooms and showers are clean and well kept. There are only 3 women's and 2 men's shower stalls for the entire park. The owners realize this is inadequate and are going to expand next season. The toilet stalls are very quirky, having a 3 foot "cafe door" thus giving no privacy - a bit uncomfortable. Only 4 washers and 4 dryers at $2.50 each. Park is quiet and comfortable. There is a free shuttle to town, but did not use it. We stayed during July 4th celebration where thousands of people descend on Seward for the Mountain race, street party and midnight fire works. At any other time, I would recommend staying in town, at the large camp grounds. Rated as Average, we would say there again if town CG were full. We camped at Stoney Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

July 4th party and celebration. Fireworks are midnight July 23rd or 12:01 July 4th. Visit the Aquarium. Book a cruise tour of the Kenai Fjords National Park - about $200 per person , 9 hours.

Nice, quiet park up the road from Seward. Convenient to town, good services, plenty of room to park. There's a river nearby that was enjoyable for walks. WATCH the potholes in the street before you enter the park. We camped at Stoney Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

Major Marine tour to the Kenai Fjords. We saw plenty of wildlife and a huge calving from the glacier. Even the captain was impressed with the size of that one. However, if they suggest motion sickness medicine - TAKE IT. We were sick during the Gulf of Alaska crossing (both ways) and we were on the meds.

Stayed here in Seward for a week.. Tail end of our trip from California.. Nice park. .Good size sites...Clean and on the a river.. Road to get here is filled with pot holes and muddy in the rain so be careful. Cable worked good.. Lots of rental motorhomes.. Word for all the travelers in the rentals. .When you dump your holding tanks PLEASE WEAR GLOVES.. DISGUSTING IF YOU DO NOT..All campgrounds should have a sign at the dump station.. Would stay here again. We camped at Stoney Creek RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice quiet location away from the crowed parks in Seward. Short drive into Seward and real close to Exit Glacier. Our site was level and had a picnic table and fire ring. Some spots don't have the fire rings. Good stable power. Wifi wasn't so great we ended up not using it and went with our Verizon Mifi instead. Good Verizon service. We camped at Stoney Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

Level gravel sites, most back-in. A few wooded but most sunny. Some Verizon coverage; wifi was mostly unusable... seemed like the server crashed every evening. Location is down an unlikely-looking country road with a few turns, adjacent to Glacier Creek. Foliage along the creek has been plowed under, making a nice walking lane along the gravel-lined creek. While not within walking distance of downtown, this park offers a more bucolic atmosphere than the city-operated waterfront parks in Seward itself and is just as close to Exit Glacier. We camped at Stoney Creek RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Harding Icefield trail in Kenai Fjords NP a great hike, even if higher reaches of trail are snow-covered; Marmot Meadows is spectacular. Resurrection River Trail in the national forest (not the park, so dogs OK) is a pleasant out-and-back hike. A Safeway in town for shopping. Fuel expensive - fill up in Anchorage. Resurrection Roadhouse's patio has a spectacular afternoon view, but get there when they open at 5pm or patio tables will all be taken.

This park is outside of Seward. The grounds need maintenance, the weeds are 3' high between lots. The entrance has potholes so go very slow . The bath showers and restrooms should be bulldozed . They have a sponge mop that hangs between showers that stinks. The fiberglass showers are worn down to the fiberglass and the mold is very prominent what a shame. Had a level, gravel, back in site. My site had electric, water and cable. A free dump site is available when leaving. There was a brand, new, plastic, picnic table. The site was wide and very easy to back into. There was a small grass berm behind my site with a fire pit. AT&T worked very well. The WI-FI was temperamental, but when I got connected the WI-FI worked very well. The mountains surrounding the park are beautiful. The access roads and interior roads are gravel, but if you drive slowly, the roads are fine. We camped at Stoney Creek RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

For an Alaska campground with 50 amp / full hook-ups this was a pretty good place. The roads and sites are gravel and fairly well maintained, but the road leading in to the place was awful: gravel/mud with potholes everywhere. Long, wide, level sites. About the only grass was along the river. Cable TV was great but the free WiFi was very slow and very hit and miss. There are some daytime trains but not many (2 per day usually) so the place is mostly quiet. It is by the creek but there isn't really any access. The sites around the perimeter had fire rings but not the pull-throughs in the center. We camped at Stoney Creek RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

As someone else pointed out, this is NOT a LUXURY RV park as claimed. Stoney Creek is a typical Alaskan RV park. It covered in small river rock and gravel with knee high weeds and grass that have grown up between spaces. There are nice grassed dog walking areas. Spaces are fairly wide and handled our 43' class A with 4 slides. The interior roads are easy to negotiate but can get dusty as people circle from the office to their sites and come and go throughout the day . The creekside pull-in row used to have a view of the creek but unfortunately over the years the alders along the bank have grown into a pretty impenetrable hedge. In all fairness, the land that they are on is possibly out of the park's control and the alders might have been allowed to take over for erosion control. Regardless; there is no longer a creek view and they lost much of the reason for being on that row. There are nice mountain views and eagles circle constantly. Some sites have nicer newer picnic tables, but ours had an older one that was missing boards and only had one usable bench. The 30 amp outlet (we reserved 50 amp) was cracked and worn and desperately in need of replacement. That is always one of my pet peeves; parks that charge a premium price and bill themselves as a luxury RV park and then don't put enough money back into infrastructure. Only sites on the outer rows have fire pits although there is a community fire pit next to the dumpster.

This trip we pulled into the office and were greeted with a sight of the camp dumpsters filled to overflowing and surrounded by a mound of trash. This is the worst year for bears and bear attacks that Alaska has had in decades, and allowing the trash to get to that stage was inexcusable. The wifi here is spotty at best and quits frequently. There are 12 basic cable channels. Stoney Creek is not a bad place to stay. It is just overpriced considering what you get and considering the apparent lack of maintenance. We camped at Stoney Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Sea Life center in Seward is interesting and worth a trip. Glacier and whale and wildlife watching tours are worth your time. Halibut charters are readily available but the distance they have to travel makes for a long day.

The restrooms were clean. HOWEVER, there was a good 1/2" of fuzzy black mold on the floor long the shower stall, which I could see standing a foot away. One shower floor was in desperate need of repair. Also the men's showers (according to my spouse) lacked HOOKS to hang his belongings in one of the stalls, and the floor is dirty from people walking on it from outside. Otherwise the campground was fine. We camped at Stoney Creek RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

After we booked this park we saw some bad reviews; i.e., watch out for the RR crossing, bad roads, 'parking lot atmosphere', etc., but we were pleasantly surprised to find a gem outside Seward. Quiet, spacious sites, full hookups and only about 5 miles to town. We checked out the RV sites on the water for $20/night with no hookups and decided this park was worth the nightly fee for full hookups. Pay no attention to the comments about the road in off the highway - evidently the road has been repaired. Kind of not so nice structures on the way in but don't let them deter you. The park is very nice. Follow your GPS - 4 turns and you're there. Pleasant staff at check in as well as on the phone when the reservation was made. We camped at Stoney Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

We had full hook ups and cable. Nice wide open level sites. Didn't feel like a parking lot as otherscsaid, because of the wide spaces and space between. We had a pull in river "view" but no view except the tall hedges. But at least our view wasn't another camping site. Reservqtion on phone and registration in person very friendly.
