As far as campgrounds go in Alaska this one was very nice. The owner lives on-site and was friendly and helpful; even loaned us a 50 amp extension cord so we could back in further and get satellite reception. The roads and sites are new gravel and well maintained. Almost all sites are back-in but the roads are wide enough that it wasn't difficult to do so. They're all fairly spacious with nice lawn and landscaping between. One area has quite a few trees if you want shade. Wifi was pretty good most of the time. Being only one block off the Kenai River & very close to downtown made it convenient. It's fairly quiet with only minimal noise from the airport nearby (some small planes but not many). We'll be back in a couple of weeks on our way back north from Homer. We camped at Klondike RV Park & Cabins in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Ido Restaurant has a good breakfast / lunch menu (not fancy, but good food). Bridge Lounge at the Kenai River Lodge across from the Visitor Center has a nice view of the river and an outdoor deck that is very nice.

We stayed 4 nights here in a 38 ft. Fifth wheel. We have traveled full time for nearly three years. In that time we have experienced the good, the bad and the ugly. Alaska tends to be a bit less developed than the lower 48, but a park like Klondike would get very good to excellent ratings no matter where it was located. As a bonus, the staff are among the most friendly we have met anywhere. Wish we could have stayed longer! We camped at Klondike RV Park & Cabins in a Fifth Wheel.

Excellent campground and the owner works hard to keep it that way. The sites are level, large and ours was easy to get into. The hook-ups are good and well positioned for a motor home - in the middle. The wi-fi is some of the best that we have encountered in an RV park. There is a picnic table at each site and lots of vegetation around to make it seem park like.
It's a short walk to the Visitor Center and town. There is shopping nearby for groceries, etc.
We arrived at 11:00 on July 4th and were told about a barbecue at 2:00. What a fun time that was. The owner provided the hot dogs and hamburgs, the buns and the condiments. We all brought a dish - either hot or cold. Lots of fun and totally unexpected. I've looked at some of the other parks in town and this certainly looks the best. We camped at Klondike RV Park & Cabins in a Motorhome.

I have stayed at Klondike RV Park twice now. Each time is a great experience. The staff are the most helpful and kind people! The park is somewhat quiet during the day due to traffic but at night it is so quiet. My favorite part is the grass and trees around the park and in between the RV pads. The bathrooms and showers are very clean and in great shape. I love that the showers are free and for as long as you want. The hot water is never ending! Another plus that most RV parks don't have is fast internet. When I stayed the most recent time the Internet was great. I will be going back many times and I strongly recommend that other people use Klondike RV Park! We camped at Klondike RV Park & Cabins in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This was a great park with friendly, helpful owner and staff. Clean restrooms and laundry. Located in the center of the Kenai, so you could do day tours to other areas of Kenai from there. Across the street from the Kenai River for fishing salmon. Some airport noise, but kind of enjoyed seeing the bush pilots go over. Would stay there again if we were in the area. We camped at Klondike RV Park & Cabins in a Truck Camper.

Nice park located across from the river. It is a bit tight getting into the back in site. All gravel throughout the park, but a nice dog walk at the rear of the park that is all grass. Owner very nice and helpful. He was able to hook us up with a great fishing guide on short notice. Park is convenient to downtown where you can find all services. Site was pretty level and the showers and restrooms were very clean and the showers were free. Would stay here again. We camped at Klondike RV Park & Cabins in a Motorhome.

Very helpful and friendly host, very clean park, was tight getting into the park, 42 ft with a Jeep. All gravel, everything worked well. Has a fenced dog walk at the end of the park, except was overgrown with shrubs and fresh bear poop. Walked dog in park no problems. Would stay again. Lucky for us due to our size we got the last site. It was a level gravel pull-in. Site included a table. All utilities worked fine. No cable TV, but around 10 channels off the air. Wi-Fi was strong enough for downloading pictures. Nearby airport with some noise during the day. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Klondike RV Park & Cabins in a Motorhome.

Friendly people and nice enough. A couple of pull-throughs but most are very short back-ins. When we were there, large motorhomes like ours blocked most of the roads making it too tight to maneuver. It is a small park. 50 amp full hookups and good WiFi. We camped at Klondike RV Park & Cabins in a Motorhome.

Nice clean park. Good electric and water. We had 50 amp and pull thru with no problem. We reserved early. Nice gravel roads and not full of pot holes as most of the others are. Easy park to get around in. Some road noise. Owner very helpful as we are trying to get to freightliner to get our rv repaired. Do not know why the other person gave it 3 stars with all the nice things to say. They were pretty much on the money in what they had to say. Would stay here again. Overall Rating:

This park sits on a side road off the Sterling Highway so there is less road noise. The level sites as well as the interior road thru the park are gravel and easy to get around in a 40ft Class A. About half the campsites have shade trees and the others are in an open area. Most are only 30 amp hookups. There are only four pull-thrus so be prepared to back in, most back-in sites are long enough for a big rig. A nice area of grass is between each campsite with a picnic table and plenty of room for your slides, awning, grill and chairs. Toilets and showers are separated in private rooms and very clean as is the small laundry room. Staff was very friendly, helpful, and if you need help getting a rental RV backed in they will direct you. Free WIFI worked well. If you get here mid June before the salmon start running it won't be very crowded but if you're coming in July you will need early reservations. We camped at Klondike RV Park & Cabins in a Motorhome.

We stayed here twice, once on the way south to the Homer spit and then again going back north. The owner is very nice and friendly and the sites are big enough that you don't have to unhook the toad. It's a clean place and we enjoyed our stay there. We camped at Klondike RV Park & Cabins in a Motorhome.

The host is a "Southern gem" as she could not be more friendly. The park has several people traveling and fishing together making the park feel like family. Our stay was in the site closest to the road, which was a bit noisy, yet slept well each night. We camped at Klondike RV Park & Cabins in a Motorhome.
