This park recently became a KOA. We normally avoid KOA parks but we'd already made a reservation here so we stayed. Owners are very accommodating and the location outside of town was great. Other RV parks in the area are on pavement, in town, and look like parking lots so we liked this one better as it's rustic. Good stop. Pull-throughs are kind of tight but 50 amp service makes up for that. We camped at Valdez KOA (formerly Bear Creek Cabins & RV Park) in a Motorhome.

They have exactly 1 washer/1 dryer for the entire park. The same building holds 4 stalls that are toilet/showers for both Men & Women. (A toilet & shower are one room. Total 4 rooms.) We camped at Valdez KOA (formerly Bear Creek Cabins & RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Valdez has provided a off-highway paved pathway that runs for several miles, including this campground which is 4+ miles outside of town. So one can run/walk/bike into town safely. Free wi-fi was so slow we didn't use it and at times could not connect to it. With a bit of work this could be a 'very good' campground.

Owners are AWESOME! Very friendly knowledgeable folks run a great campground and cabins operation outside of Valdez. Nice and peaceful and NOT downtown but close enough for a quick drive to several very good restaurants, grocery, and liquor just a few miles down the road in Valdez. My Wife and I have stayed with these fine folks many times in the past years, and its the ONLY campground we will stay at in the future. Congrats on joining the KOA family! We will hopefully see you again soon, this season. We camped at Valdez KOA (formerly Bear Creek Cabins & RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Ask the knowledgeable owners for suggestions for where/ when to get fantastic fresh seafood, and also for advise on local restaurants in Valdez. I had some of the best Chinese food in my life, right in Valdez Alaska!

Quiet park just off Richardson Hwy., about 4 miles from Valdez Small Boat Harbor. Level, gravel roads & sites; not too tight. $34 reflects extra charge for WiFi, which worked good. Some trees, and very large area of grass, which was great for walking our dogs. Laundry consists of 1 washer & 1 dryer. Small bath house with unisex restrooms & showers (2 each); which we didn't use. We would stay here again. We camped at Valdez KOA (formerly Bear Creek Cabins & RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate reflects discount as we were providing the music for the 4th of July celebration. Very nice park - located 4 miles from downtown but worth it - although gravel pull-through sights, there are also grass back in sites, and trees but not in your way. Plenty of room to maneuver. Very nice owners. Cable had a fee and box. Wi-Fi had a fee - we used our AT&T hot spot. Great place to stay while visiting the Valdez area and Worthington Glacier. Would definitely stay here again. This is another great park in the Valdez area. It is mostly an open lot but there are areas where it is not so tight or close to your neighbor. The owner tries not to put units next to each other if possible. It is a little outside of town but close enough to still be convenient. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Clean and well maintained with lots of amenities except sewer hookups. We would stay here again for sure. We camped at Valdez KOA (formerly Bear Creek Cabins & RV Park) in a Motorhome.

My husband and I spent an extended stay at Bear Creek Cabins and RV Park in Valdez, AK. This beautiful treed campground is just a few miles North Valdez. Within a few miles of the fish hatchery and excellent fishing at Allison Point. The campground was well groomed, with very clean rest rooms and laundry. The owner/host was very helpful and caring. They are very knowledgeable of the area attractions and rules and regulations of fishing and hunting. We camped at Valdez KOA (formerly Bear Creek Cabins & RV Park) in a Motorhome.

This is a brand-new campground, opened Memorial Day 2009. Every campground has to start somewhere, and I think in a few years, this one may have all the kinks worked out and be a spectacular place. The location is great if you want to be far away from Valdez, as it is not within walking distance of anything. It is very close to fishing at Allison Point. It is a gravel parking lot, very few trees, no picnic tables, no fire rings. Lots of huge potholes, sites unlevel, electric service unreliable, and a stagnant pond on the grounds providing an enormous amount of insects. The sites are VERY poorly marked, and are quite narrow, not wide as the website indicates. You will be stacked on top of your neighbor. The bathrooms were rather unconventional, as they are unisex, but they were quite clean. It appears that cable service might be coming in the next few years. The staff were very nice, though, and I think this campground will get great reviews in the coming years when it gets established. I just don't think it was worth $39 a night as it stands right now. It is very weak in comparison to the campgrounds in town. We camped at Valdez KOA (formerly Bear Creek Cabins & RV Park) in a Motorhome.
