Best (and most expensive) park in Valdez but you do have $1M view. Quiet park with view of harbor. Sites are all well maintained and graveled. Utilities worked well. Cable is GCI which requires a converter box, they just have you sign a form no deposit is required. Some kids here, so not sure what they mean by adults. We camped at Bear Paw RV Park II (Adults only) in a Motorhome.

Initially confusing - check in at the other Bear Park. But this one is quite nice. Gravel in whole area, full utilities including 50 amp., we backed up on the small boat harbor of Port Valdez. Watching the boats come and go was a treat. The staff was kind and helpful. The laundry room had 4 washers and 4 driers - all worked just fine. Very clean. We stayed here 2 weeks. We camped at Bear Paw RV Park II (Adults only) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Lovely small town of people that love Alaska and Valdez. Lots of fresh fish available. Valdez survived 1964 earthquake (the city had to move after) and the Valdez oil disaster (south of here). There are glacier tours - we saw an Orca family, sea lions, otters, puffins, eagles, etc. And Meares glacier is calving and growing! Nice Safeway. Local museums. Town folk are full of stories! Supplies flown in so foul weather can delay shipment - including mail!

This place is tight and too expensive. The location is very nice with level sites and utilities in good working order. If possible you want site 1 thru 10 which are not nearly as tight as the others around the curve. We enjoyed our stay but the site we had in the far corner was really tight. we camped here in a 40' motorhome. We camped at Bear Paw RV Park II (Adults only) in a Motorhome.

Everything in Alaska is high compared to the lower 48. Campgrounds are no exception. However, this campground site was worth it to me because of the incredible view. Site 12 overlooks the harbor and the Bay of Valdez. We sat in our lawn chairs and watched the boats go in and out of the harbor while we waited to see wildlife. It is interesting.

Campground is neat and clean and the laundry and bathroom are spotless. Some lots have partial shade. Close to village. Fish hatchery area is a great place to view salmon in July. While there we saw eagles, a grizzly, sea otters, and harbor seals. This was my favorite campground in Alaska. We would definitely go back. We camped at Bear Paw RV Park II (Adults only) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We took a glacier/wildlife tour on the LuLu Belle. It was fantastic. Captain knows the area well and gave us a 7 hour tour. We enjoyed every moment and saw lots of wildlife. They have food for sale on board. The smoked salmon chowder is the best I have ever had. Captain gets it from Washington State and brings it in. Free interdenominational Sunday services are offered free of charge. Captain takes the congregation into the bay.

Although I don't normally like "adults only" parks, this one does have its perks. All sites are level gravel and rigs up to 45' could fit. Everyone is around a large gravel circle so your only restriction is to not block your neighbor. Rigs are about 15' apart. Some sites are specifically for small rigs while many would fit any size. The open gravel middle area makes for easy back ins. Park wifi worked fine and Verizon had a good 3-bar LTE signal. Satellite is very unlikely to work due to latitude and mountains but they provided a digital converter box if you can get to the coax hookups behind your TV. They also allowed us to wash vehicles which is an added plus. Water pressure was occasionally as low as 20 psi (not due to vehicle washing at the time), but otherwise, utilities worked fine. All sites are 30A. We'd stay here again. We camped at Bear Paw RV Park II (Adults only) in a Fifth Wheel.

Where is the button for an "11" rating? FHU, beautiful spot on the water's edge, way more space than any other spot in Valdez. The other big sites in Valdez look like gravel Walmart lots with no store. This one has gravel sites, back-in, utils worked great, free WIFI, cable and they provide the controller box. I would go out of our way to stay here again !! Being 'elders', we loved the 'adult only' aspect. 2 blocks from town and marine harbor. We camped at Bear Paw RV Park II (Adults only) in a Travel Trailer.

This is a 10 in Alaska for sure. Does not have a pool or tennis courts like a 10 RV resort in the lower 48. You do not need those frills here! We are looking to the left at the small boat harbor watching the private and commercial fishing boats come and go, Coast Guard Cutter is further behind on the left side, to the right we see the Alaska Marine ferry dock and more big fishing boats. To the front across the bay the Alaska pipeline terminus and the tankers loading up. Excellent owners and staff, easy check in, owner led us to our spot (about 2 blocks from the main check in). Quieter here than in the main Bear Paw, and away from the traffic and dust by the harbor. 2 blocks to shops by harbor. Cleanest rest room ever. Everything works well here, as we pulled into a back in site, power, water and cable run under our RV to the passengers side. Drain my black tank when the guy on the drivers side site is not using his drain. Sites not as close as most in Alaska. Stayed here in a 42 Foot RV pulling a Jeep, and pulled right into our ocean view without unhitching. When we return would not stay anywhere else in Valdez. Tips for other Campers:

You can read the tourist book, lots of hikes, and drives. Stop by the tourist info office for tips, easy level town to walk or bike ride. You can buy fresh Salmon for $8.00 a lb, or flash frozen for the same price at the Peter Pan fish plant retail store in the harbor. We are filling our freezer as it is a lot cheaper than a fishing trip or the price at home.

Very nice park on the breakwater of the small boat channel and about 2 blocks away from the main park. All slots are back in but plenty of room to maneuver (it is basically a big peninsula). All utilities worked well (cable is digital so make sure you ask for a converter box). Wi-Fi worked well. All sites have a table and fire pit. Some noise at night from fish packing plants, but it is more of a low range hum. Great place to watch the boat traffic and very quiet. We camped at Bear Paw RV Park II (Adults only) in a Fifth Wheel.

Bear Paw II has the cleanest restrooms/showers you will find this side of The Northern Lights in Dawson Creek! Each restroom/shower has its own room with a sink and rugs on the floor with plenty of free hot water. The washers are $1.50 per load and the dryers are $1.50 for 30 minutes. If you pull in you will be looking at either the bay or small boat harbor. Be prepared to pass your hookups under your rig if you pull in as they are set up for left side access. This park is very quiet with friendly staff. The only reasons it does not get a 10 is the price and hookup difficulty. Don't forget to make a trip to Allison Point during high tide to watch the bears! We camped at Bear Paw RV Park II (Adults only) in a Motorhome.

A beautiful location right on the inlet from the bay to the marina! Our site overlooked all the boats coming and going from the pier. This park is very well maintained and has TV, even though they have to give you a box and remote to use instead of tapping into your RVs system with your own remote, etc. Good channel selection, wide spaces, and friendly staff made for a wonderful visit. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Bear Paw RV Park II (Adults only) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This campground arguably has the best location in Valdez, right on the water near the entrance the small-boat harbor. About half the campsites have a water view, the others are back. Compared with other campgrounds in Valdez, there is at least some separation between sites. You have to check in at the “main” Bear Paw campground, but this satellite campground has its own restrooms and laundry. (On a side note, the guide book that we had did not match up with the actual street names. Although not difficult to find, it is a bit confusing when you first get into town.) We were lucky to get a water-view site. You can pull in forward, which we did, but the hookups will be on the wrong side. This first day, the power went out a couple of times, but otherwise the utilities were good. There is cable TV, but make for sure you get the “box” when you check in. It is a bit of a hassle to hookup, but we managed and got lots of stations. The WiFi is good, strong and fast. Our Verizon phone and data worked well. We did not have any problems with the noise from the harbor, but fishermen camp there and start up their diesel trucks very early in the morning. This campground is very close to the municipal pier with big supply barges coming in. Our main problem was with a supply barrage and the associated noise and petroleum smell. On the positive side, this campground is within walking distance of most of the tours and attractions in Valdez. We would have stayed longer, but there was a large caravan coming in, so we only stayed four nights. We would stay here again. We camped at Bear Paw RV Park II (Adults only) in a Motorhome.

This is a great RV park. Very clean, well maintained, easy to get in and out of. It's a 10 but I gave it a 9 because it's close to a very active harbor which is busy until dark (11PM in July). It's not excessively loud, mind you, but very active. We camped at Bear Paw RV Park II (Adults only) in a Motorhome.

This is one of the few parks that we have stayed in while touring Alaska that we would have liked to extend our stay. But we got forced out by 2 incoming caravans. The most popular sites back up to the bay and the ships come and go all day long. You are allowed to head in a motor home if you desire, but your hookups will be on the opposite side. We didn't have any issues with electric during our stay. The town is close by to walk to and there are lots of places to walk pets. We did however see several local owned dogs off leash. I would stay here again. We camped at Bear Paw RV Park II (Adults only) in a Motorhome.

Small park with tight quarters, a few pull through sites which are generally used for the larger rigs. Mostly back in sites which are fine for smaller rigs. LOVED the location, the friendly folks, the clean well maintained park and it was very quiet! Nice laundry facilities with huge dryers. Major Cable TV was a bonus. Internet worked OK, but did get "kicked off" a couple times. Within walking distance of much every where to shops and services and charters. Would definitely stay here again.
