We arrived about 3:30 and only one site taken. From our site, I felt like I should start singing "the hills are alive with the sound of music". Incredible views. Peaceful. Well kept. We camped at Blueberry Lake State Recreation Site in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful park in the Thompson Pass about 25 miles outside of Valdez. There are only two or three spots that will accommodate 40' but if you can get #7 you are one lucky camper! This spot is right on the lake and there is plenty of room for your towed beside your rig, even with slides extended. If you have to make the loop a second time, the left turn by the restrooms is tight but doable. The good news is the rainbow and grayling fishing is excellent. The bad news is all the good fish are on the opposite side of the lake from the campsites. If you have a small boat or tube be prepared to catch fish until your arm is tired! Would not suggest trying to walk to the other side as there are definitely bears in the locale. Restrooms are very clean but take your own paper! We camped here over the fourth of July and it was still a quiet place! Take the small hiking trail adjacent to spot #9 up to the top of the ridge for a magnificent view. If this place had elec it would be a 10+! We camped at Blueberry Lake State Recreation Site in a Motorhome.

Rated as one of top 3 most scenic CGs in Alaska. Completely surrounded by mountains, glaciers, lake, etc. Large sites with plenty of room. Ran generator which was not heard at adjacent site. Roadways are newly paved and sites are level. Advise early arrival as all sites were filled by 3pm on a weekday. We camped at Blueberry Lake State Recreation Site in a Motorhome.

This very nice campground is in a beautiful setting, surrounded by mountains and glaciers. It is actually about 25 miles outside of Valdez and has a very remote, quiet feel. It has paved access and sites, a real rarity for state campgrounds in Alaska. There are 15 sites with six of the sites being smallish parking spaces, two in a separate area and four along the small alpine lake. The other 9 (much better) sites are well separated with vegetation to provide privacy. This is not a campground for big rigs as the spaces are relatively short. I would guess something like 35 feet would be a limit. The water source is a hand pump, so no filling of tanks and there is no dump station. There are vault toilets. Most sites have a picnic table and fire pit. There is no campground host, so no wood is available for purchase on site. As noted by another reviewer, the trash bags are located in the toilets. Neither our Verizon phone nor data device had any signal. The vegetation is alpine and short, so we could use our Hughes satellite internet. This is not a campground for visiting Valdez, but if you are looking for something with a remote feel close to Worthington Glacier, this is a great campground. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Blueberry Lake State Recreation Site in a Motorhome.

Nice park with paved roads and camp sights. Views of mountains all around. It's about a 25 minute drive to Valdez from the park. Trash can be put in black trash bags located in the restroom building. We camped at Blueberry Lake State Recreation Site in a Motorhome.

Absolutely beautiful views of glaciers and mountains surrounding an alpine lake. Excellent paved roads and campsites. I only saw a couple of sites that would accommodate a big rig, but it's a small park to start with. Strictly dry camping, but the beauty of the park and the isolation rate a "WOW". Alaska at its best. No trash receptacles in park, so plan on packing it out. We camped at Blueberry Lake State Recreation Site in a Fifth Wheel.

What a surprise to find such a nice campground in such an isolated location in Thompson Pass at high elevation only a short distance from Valdez. I was afraid we might blow away during the night but the site was so beautiful near an alpine lake and the winds were never strong. The air was crisp in September. The sites had a table and fire pit and there were several from which to choose. The sites were private with berry bushes surrounding each site with a spectacular view. The road was paved and although right off of Richardson Hwy a mountain blocked the road noise and the night was very quiet and peaceful. I continue to be impressed with the AK state park sites, their abundance, and their maintenance. We camped at Blueberry Lake State Recreation Site in a Motorhome.

This is a gem of a dry camping site in a spectacularly beautiful location, the Thompson Pass. When the sun comes up in the morning you are on the top of the world! This site is 25 miles north of Valdez and is a couple miles from the Worthington glacier. The campground is located next to a high alpine lake that offers grayling fishing. Three of the campsites have shelters over picnic tables. The campground has clean vault toilets. The hand pump had been removed from the well at the time of our visit. We camped at Blueberry Lake State Recreation Site in a Motorhome.
