We stayed in this park four years ago and returned to find it just as nice and friendly as then. We asked for a place in the back near the woods and they accommodated us very quickly and easily. This is a good sized park in what some would consider a parking lot, but there is plenty of room between sites. While we were there they accommodated over 20 Class A's from a caravan and parked them like it was nothing. It's clean, and there is a grassy area out back and beside the highway (nice and wide) to let dogs walk. There are also small cabins available. Although it's not directly downtown, all vistas are beautiful. This is a good place to stay in Valdez. We camped at Eagles Rest RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Large park close to small boat marina just off the highway. Escort to site, and staff very friendly. Close to grocery (walking distance). Owner will allow you to wash coach. Sites close together but room for slides. Beautiful mountain scenery with waterfall. Owners will help book fishing charter if needed. We camped at Eagles Rest RV Park in a Motorhome.

Eagle Rest RV Park is a huge parking lot of dirt, gravel and potholes. In wet weather it is a huge lot of mud and mud puddles. When the park begins to fill, it is very congested- dangerously so. RV spaces are laid out running in different directions with lots of blind corners. Traffic is busy with rigs, vehicles and trucks with boats coming and going. There is very little in the way of organized traffic control. Eagle Rest is anything but quiet and restful.

Sites are adequately wide enough and hookups are good. There is cable and internet. The internet is severely throttled and too slow to be useful. I was only able to connect a couple times in two week stay. Verizon Mi-fi was very good. Showers are clean. Laundry facilities are adequate, but expensive. Office staff is cordial and helpful. You can buy most Valdez cruises and fishing tour tickets at the office. We camped at Eagles Rest RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

1. Lu-lu Belle Cruise. Outstanding experience. Smaller boat, spacious and comfortable ride. Able to get into tight coves where larger cruise boats cannot go. Less expensive than competetion.

2. Halibut House- Excellent burgers and fish.

We hope to return to Valdez. If we do, we'll opt for staying at the Bayview across the road, or the Bear Paw by the harbor. Those appear to be more attractive alternatives..

There was a lot of public road construction around the outside of the park; so, it wouldn't be fair to talk about the lack of ease getting in and out of the park. Signage inside the park was almost non-existent, so finding the exit was an adventure.
We stayed three nights. Good food at Old Town Burgers. Trash containers were very far from our site. We camped at Eagles Rest RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Took helicopter tour from Vertical Solutions. We landed on Shoup Glacier and on the shore below Columbia Glacier. THE best experience of our Alaska summer.
The drive into Valdez has some of the most beautiful scenery in the state.

This was similar to a drive-in, but the spaces were big enough for entire rig. The staff was great and they have activities for the campers visiting the area. Possibly great view of mountains, but rained the entire time we were there. Not far from downtown. Don't get a spot next to Safeway as the reefers run all night! We camped at Eagles Rest RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

The park is mostly gravel with grass in the middle (for the tents) and around the perimeter. Our site was a back-in along the perimeter. More noise from the nearby road, but convenient to the laundry and pet area. All utilities worked fine. Cable TV had around 40 channels and other than one channel were clear. Wi-Fi was only good enough to check e-mail and browse. Even then it was slow due to traffic in the evening. Laundry was fairly expensive at $3.25 for wash and $2.00 for dry, but it was clean and functional. There is a fish cleaning table at the back of the office. Office offers cruise tour tickets. Walking distance to the harbor and town. Beautiful stunning scenery surrounds the park on all sides. We would definitely stay here again if in the area. A gravel parking lot with hookups. Limited space between sites. Access to dog walk area is a disaster. Staff was courteous and kind. Convenient to downtown Valdez shopping, restaurants, and marina. Would not stay here again. We camped at Eagles Rest RV Park in a Motorhome.

Despite being a big gravel lot, our stay was excellent. Most of our fellow campers were fisher folks or boaters from Fairbanks-great group to spend time with. The bathrooms were clean and very well maintained; they had a nice little laundromat with an excellent reading exchange. The funny friendly greeter guys in the golf cart gave us a hose and encouraged us to wash off the Alcan from our trailer and ourselves. The view was really pretty and you are a quick walk to town. Good spot to see Valdez. No smoke and no mosquitoes! We camped at Eagles Rest RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Valdez is a cool fishing and marina town. There's a great ice cream shack to sit and meet locals. The area has very nice hiking trails and wildlife viewing. Locals are actually nice to tourists. There's a Safeway and an awesome hamburger place right next to the RV Park. The fishermen cut the halibut and catches on the dock. It was super cool to observe.

Just a gravel parking lot with full hookups, but a very good one and not too tight. The people are friendly and helpful. The views are terrific. Close to everything and they sell tickets to all activities. Would stay here again. We camped at Eagles Rest RV Park in a Motorhome.

This was one of the best RV parks we have stayed at in Alaska. If you're looking for grass and shade, this is not the place for you. Most of us here just wanted a place with good services at a reasonable price. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Easy walking distance to town and the marina. Lots of room for maneuvering and they let you wash your RV and car on site! Nice grassy area for tents. We camped at Eagles Rest RV Park in a Motorhome.

A very big gravel park. The sites were adequate size, but many of the campers had boats as well as trucks and RVs, so there was not much maneuvering room. We had a back corner site which protected us on two sides, but on the side in front, someone decided to park a boat trailer; at least it was far enough in front that we could get the toad in and out. The staff was friendly, the hookups were good, the Wi-Fi worked adequately. The showers were clean. It was conveniently located. Everything was pretty good if you like an RV city. We might stay there again. We camped at Eagles Rest RV Park in a Motorhome.

Ok, so this is a big gravel parking lot, but so are most of the other options. The view is simply beautiful. The location is close to Safeway (behind RV Park) and the harbor. This park is ok, if I'd come back, I might try a different park. We camped at Eagles Rest RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a large RV park on the outskirts of town, but still close to everything. They are super friendly and helpful. They have facilities that are clean and well run, but for the size of the park they rely on people using their camper setups. Wi-fi is great, even at the back of the park. Cable TV was excellent. We would recommend it to anyone coming to Valdez. We camped at Eagles Rest RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
