This is a huge camping area up on the hill above the town of Banff. You have a choice of full hook ups no hook ups and limited hook ups in various areas. We had arrived when there was still quite a bit of smoke covering the mountains but we had an ideal site so we could at least see the shadow of the mountains. When it rained one night we finally saw all of the mountains and it was just beautiful. Because of where the campground is located you are close to laundry facilities just down the hill, a shuttle that will take you to town, and loads of hiking trails. The restrooms are well-maintained and numerous throughout the park. The town of Banff is delightful and camping here was a pleasure with all that is available in the area. We highly recommend This location. We camped at Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court Campground - Full Hookups (Parks Canada) in a Travel Trailer.

August 9,10 Tunnel Mountain Trailer Campground, Banff National Park, Banff, Canada -$36.20, Full Hookups, picnic table but no firepit, site 836 This campground is one of three on Tunnel Mountain Road ten minutes out of Banff. It is huge with 321 sites all pull-throughs. Tunnel Mountain Village 2 Campground next to it has electric and 188 sites. Tunnel Mountain Village 1 Campground has 618 no hookup sites but it does have fire pits and 618 sites. These three campgrounds combined have over 1000 sites. Check-in was easy. There are hiking trails and bike trails surrounding the campgrounds. Ranger programs at night. There are bathhouses in every third row with a shower. We had a very sunny site and not much privacy. Great for riding bikes. There is a laundromat down the road. These campgrounds are ten minutes away from the town of Banff with shops, restaurants, hotels and historic sites. There are shuttles for downtown and some of the sites that come right to the campgrounds. Good stay but this place is huge and very busy. We camped at Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court Campground - Full Hookups (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

We loved this park for it's proximity to Banff and ability to accomodate our 39' fifth wheel with full hookups. The turnoff is not very well marked. There is a big in the middle of a fork in the road but no arrow telling you which way to go. So, turn up-hill at the sign when you sign it. There are 3 large square sections A, B and C in this park and the rows start 1 -8 with the 100's being closer to the front and the higher the number toward the back. Section A is closer to town. There is no wi-fi and I don't remember there being any access to laundry, but the park is close to town with many walking trails nearby. All sites were pull-thru's. Make sure to book in advance. We booked last minute because we were sure of our arrival dates and could only stay in 2-day segments and had to move sites once. We would definitely come back and stay longer next time. We camped at Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court Campground - Full Hookups (Parks Canada) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Don't miss the Hoodoo View Point trail which looks across the valley back toward the Fairmont Banff Springs hotel. This hotel is also a must see. Have a beer on the patio of the German restaurant behind the hotel or sit in one of their cozy library rooms. Banff Hot Springs - go after 9 or 10pm when most of the kids are gone and it's less crowded. They are open until 11pm in the summer. Grizzly House - fondue restaurant was my favorite dinner in over 2 months of camping.

This is a beautiful campground only minutes from downtown Banff and inside of Banff National Park. The sites are all pull thru, level with 30amp water and sewer. There's plenty of privacy and shade and amazing views of the nearby mountains. The bathrooms were fairly clean. I didn't use the showers but they looked fine. There were 2 OTA channels. No wifi but Rogers, Bell and Telus had strong voice service. Telus and Bell had 4g LTE with 10+ d/l speeds unboosted. Lots of great activities in Banff and dogs are allowed on all trails which is quite different than most US National Parks. There is tons of shopping and restaurants in Banff. Hiking and biking trails are directly off the campground. We camped at Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court Campground - Full Hookups (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Agree with previous posts. I was here a week and all 3 parks were full every night so make your reservations months in advance for July and August. Very quiet after 9:00 - Probably because no firepits in full hookup park so no reason to sit outside. They do have an overflow area along the perimeter road where you park behind each other. Dry camping but access to rest rooms. $27. Great place to stay when exploring Banff and Lake Louise, which is 45 min away. Check-in can take time here as the line-ups can be long. The staff is very efficient and friendly. One of the registration staff turned out to be very handy as I had an electrical problem with the 30 amp plug-in at our site. As soon as I reported the problem she was at our site very quickly and fixed it. All the sites in this campground are pull-throughs that parallel the park roads. The access roads are all paved and the sites are gravel. Our site (#418) had the utilities in the middle with the sewer about 4 ft from the water. A picnic table with a metal extension for a BBQ or camp stove was included. The table was fairly worn and could have used another coat of paint or stain and a few boards as well. I noticed not all the tables were the same at the other sites. This campground has no fire pits. Sites on the north side of the roads get the most sun and heat. On the south side many are in the shade in the afternoon. Ours was on the north side and next time I would consider getting a site on the south side. Washrooms, showers, garbage and recycle were close by on our street, but not every street had these facilities. Picked up 2 weak channels on OTA TV; satellite TV would not be possible in most sites due to the trees. No Wi-Fi, but free Wi-Fi access at the Banff tourist info centre. The local bus transit even has a stop here, across from the dump station. The Wolf's Den Theatre has evening shows Wednesday through Sunday end of June to beginning of September that are fit for adults and kids. There is a perimeter trail that circles both campgrounds (Village II and Trailer Court) and another that heads towards downtown Banff. We would stay here again, as it is the only full hookup campground in the national park. We camped at Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court Campground - Full Hookups (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Parks Canada has an agreement with local transit where rides are free from the campground and return is only $2 or $1 for seniors. It sure beats driving the rig in downtown Banff, as parking there is very restrictive for RVs.

Downtown Banff for shopping and restaurants, Parks Museum, Cave and Basin NHS, Banff Gondola, Lake Minnewanka, Banff Springs Hotel, Old 1910 CPR Railway Station, Vermillion Lakes

WOW what a nice National campground. Every site is a pull-through and our site had more than enough room. We could have been pulling two trucks and had enough room for our coach and trucks. We have a 45' coach and a Ram 1500. We had so much room. There are a lot of trees but there was no problem navigating the streets. All streets are paved and the sites are gravel. We had full hookups but only 30 amp service which was the only negative. Our site had a break in the trees and we were able to get US DirecTV. Based on a typical Canada campground this was very nice therefore I rated it a 9. The location and view was awesome. We have an all electric coach but with the mild climate 30 amp was fine. We would definitely go back and stay again. You will not be disappointed. We camped at Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court Campground - Full Hookups (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Thanks to the favorable exchange rate this is a huge value! How can you beat full hook-ups in a beautiful national park for about $30 a night. The spots are pull-thrus with plenty of space, there are restrooms and dumpsters located at convenient intervals, and there is even a bus service into town. Banff of course has tons of restaurants, a nice hot springs pool, and views galore. We camped at Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court Campground - Full Hookups (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are endless things to do in Banff National Park. Check out the various hikes in the area. The shuttle to and from Banff is so helpful as parking can be a huge problem downtown.
The best grocery store is the Save on Foods in Canmore, about 18 miles away. The Banff IGA is small and old and their parking lot is a nighmare.

All of the sites here are pull-thru off the side of the road. Unfortunately your site faces the people in the row above you, so not much in the way of privacy. There aren't many options in the park so this is as good as it gets. We camped at Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court Campground - Full Hookups (Parks Canada) in a Fifth Wheel.

Sites are quite level, roadways around campground are paved, very easy to maneuver around, and beautiful sites of the mountains. Unable to get a satellite signal but a section of the campground is more open where you get a signal if that is important to you. Free bus service to town at the road at end of campground if you don't want to fight for parking spots. $2 per person to take a bus back. Bus comes about every 40 min. No fires allowed in this section. We camped at Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court Campground - Full Hookups (Parks Canada) in a Fifth Wheel.

First off, I would highly recommend making reservations in advance, if you are planning a visit to Banff in high season (summer). We didn't have any reservations before we left home. Thankfully, we stopped at the welcome/information center right on hwy 4, shortly after we crossed into the Canadian border from Montana. Not only was there a ton of information available, but they offered help with reservations, at no cost. The woman that helped us was super friendly and nice, and was able to book one night (that night) for us at Tunnels. There wasn't another spot available for the 2nd night, unless we wanted to move. We planned on visiting Jasper after Banff, so we had her book 4 nights there for us, then 2 more at Tunnels for the return trip.

Views are amazing, and cg is very close to town. All sites are full hook up, and run parallel to the road. Not the best for privacy, but convenient for pulling in. Very clean, large and level sites. We have a 32' class a, and had plenty of room for it and my car. Note that if you are camping in a smaller unit, you may have to "share" a site with another camper. Some of the sites were converted to two separate sites, being very close to each other (pretty much back to back). I would not be happy with this set up at all.

Rate does not include $11 (Canadian) booking fee. We camped at Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court Campground - Full Hookups (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The town of Banff can be very busy! Lots of shops, mostly geared toward tourists. Can be fun at first, then gets a little overwhelming with so many people. Be sure to check out the Irish pub in town, "St. James Gate". We happened to arrive in time for happy hour, with buy one, get one free apps. They were such huge servings (and delicious!) that we made them our dinner!

This is the only full hook up park in Banff NP. The views from the park are incredible. Every direction you look there are huge rocky mountains. The park is convenient to town and is also on the town shuttle route. The Canadian park rangers are extremely courteous and helpful. They are very serious about you keeping a bare campsite because of wildlife and they patrol throughout the day. The single sites are very nice and are all pull through. You must book your reservation as soon as the reservation system opens. Check the Canadian park website for details. The Tavern has awesome pizzas and salads. Great place to dine after a long day of hiking. The scenery in Banff and Jasper National Parks is incredible. Love this area. If you plan to stay a few days your best bet is to buy the Canadian Discovery Pass to allow unlimited access to national parks. Also before you can make a reservation you have to register and obtain an account with Canadian parks. Go to "parks canada.gc.ca" for details and info.
