More campground and not so much an RV park. The sites and roads are gravel, tight and not level. The layout for the sites are a shared hookup area with your neighbor just a couple of feet away. The park has campground quality bathrooms and showers, a small pool and a convenience store attached to the checkin office. We would look for a different park the next time we visit Calgary. We got to this camp site on the Saturday afternoon. The showers were disgusting: one drain serviced two stalls. The grate was off the drain and it was full of hair, so the water didn't drain away. You were standing ankle deep in other people's water.

Had to stay two days because we had problems with the RV and had to wait until Monday morning for it to be fixed. Sunday the showers and toilets still hadn't been cleaned although someone had pulled the hair out of the drain and left it on the floor. If we don't get a foot infection it will be a miracle. The redeeming thing is the water was hot. Very disappointed. We camped at Calgary West Campground in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Apparently this campground was built in the 80's, and from the current condition, it appears that it has not been upgraded since then. Interior roads are riddled with potholes, making their speed bumps redundant. Pull-through sites are shared with only inches between RV's. All sites share utilities with the next site, with the first arrival getting the 30 amp plug and the later arrival having the 15/20 amp plug. Fifty feet of hose was need to reach our water spigot and a similar length of electrical cord was needed. Our site was short, requiring us to disconnect and it was not level from front to back. Our picnic table was broken as were many others. Fires are not permitted. Wash $2, dry $0.25 for 5 minutes. There is a $25 late checkout fee even when the campground is only half full. Wifi, even with an extender did not reach our site. WiFi is available near the office, but even there the signal dropped at least 15 times during the one hour I spent in their disgusting WiFi lounge. Satellite radio and TV reception is excellent. A full service, back-in site is $50 per night plus tax - totally overpriced. And if you come during Stampede, you get to pay $58 + tax. While it is conveniently located close to the TC highway, it is at least a 20 minute drive to grocery and other shopping places. We camped at Calgary West Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Tip: If you are heading west, drive the extra 45 minutes to Canmore or 1 hour to Banff, both of which are full service towns. Alternatively, south of Calgary in Black Diamond is a lovely Foothills Lion's campground (403 933 5785). While Black Diamond is not a full service community, nearby Okotokos is a full service town.

Stayed here last night before dropping off RV. The staff were superb - very friendly and helpful. However, the toilets and showers were awful - only two toilets, one without a lock, and no hooks in the shower I used. The wall between a toilet and a shower were rotten and I'm sure, harboured bacteria. The button on the hand-drier was hanging out of the machine on a spring. In general, the restrooms are desperately in need of a complete makeover for the sake of travellers' health. We camped at Calgary West Campground in a Motorhome.

A large campground located off Highway 1 West. It is quiet and well maintained. They pickup your garbage at your site which is nice. They sell propane. We camped at Calgary West Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We spent two days at Heritage Park and it was wonderful. You can ride in a horse drawn wagon, train and paddle wheel boat. We found the $22 a day Canadian was a bargain and the rides were included. They also have an amusement park for the kiddos. The park is located very close to the 1988 Olympic venue for ski jumping and luge.

This park is an old KOA near the Canada Olympic Park just on the western edge of Calgary. We have stayed here several times. Frankly, it is the best of the RV Campgrounds in Calgary. The rest would likely rate a 3 star. Previous reviewers have pointed out a number of deficiencies and for the most part they are correct. However, if you get located down in the lower part of the campground around A35 the sites are leveller. You are about 6 miles away from major shopping (Nose Hill Dr. and Crowchild Trail) with easy access. There is also a Museum at the COP next door, which is fun to visit. This can be a busy campground in season so reservations are highly recommended. We camped at Calgary West Campground in a Travel Trailer.

The people that own and run this park are NOT RV'ers and do not understand the RV lifestyle. They would not allow propane fire pits or BBQ's or brickett BBQ's. When we tried to explain "propane" the owners yelled at us and threatened to call the police to have us evicted. We tried to sit outside and watch a movie - the volume was not loud at all, but the owners told us we had to shut the TV off at 10 pm. The RV sites face into each others front yard, so you have to share space with people you don't even know. The lots are unlevel and the roads are gravel with tons of pot holes. You have to share a 30 amp service with the RV that backs up against you (no space at all) so if both RV's turn on the microwave at the same time, you blow breakers outside. This may be the WORST RV park I have ever stayed in because the owners are very rude and have no appreciation of what RV'ing is all about. We camped at Calgary West Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

All of the roads are gravel and had many ruts. Sites are not level. All of the picnic tables we saw (including ours) were on hills...none were level. The tent areas were nice, all with a stationary, covered picnic table. There's plenty for kids to do...a heated pool, miniature golf. Location is next to the 1988 Olympic ski-jumping, luge and bobsled tracks. We camped at Calgary West Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at this park in mid June. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of this park. The staff were very friendly and pleasant. The kids loved the swimming pool. We don't understand why some reviews are so negative. The review stating the swimming pool was green slime with a picnic table table floating in it is ridiculous. This person says he was visiting the park in April, the swimming pool opens on June 21st. The pool is closed in April with no water. I believe that the reviews of campgrounds are an important tool for campers to gauge where they might stay. I use them, but I can recognize trash talk when I see it. We camped at Calgary West Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed in April so it wasn't very busy. Great location, not far from town. Staff were friendly, laundry was clean and so were the showers. Very quiet. Excellent Wi-Fi. The site was not level but we just dealt with it. We camped at Calgary West Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a former KOA park that hasn't kept up with the times. We stayed there during the Calgary Stampede, so the park was very crowded. It's well-located, but lacking in most other respects. We were assigned a back-in site which had shared utilities with a neighboring RV. The temperatures were very hot, so I'd asked for a 30 amp site (50 amp isn't available). It turns out that there is only one 30 amp circuit between two sites, so access to the 30 amp is 'first come first served'. Our neighbor had been there for three days when we arrived so that we were relegated to 20 amps, not really enough to run Winnebago's basement a/c. Although the park claims WiFi, it is painfully slow at the site location. In order to get an acceptable signal, one must go to the office. Fortunately we were only there for a few days, but next time I'll look for another park. We camped at Calgary West Campground in a Motorhome.

We arrived around 2: pm. There were many spots available. They stuck us in a storage lot. I understand no sewer, or 50 amp. No big deal. These people must write their own reviews. This is not a very nice place to stay. Too much money for what you get. We camped at Calgary West Campground in a Motorhome.

Good location for us on the west side. Site was level, clean and plenty long enough for big rigs. The park design is to share hookups from a common location so that you have one rig facing east and one rig facing west which means not a lot of distance between the two. Other than that, no problems. I would most likely stay here again if going through Calgary again. We camped at Calgary West Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Restrooms were acceptable but would not call them clean. Park was crowded and needed more frequent attention. Trash around the building never picked up during our 3-day stay. Crowded park, sites very close together. Road and train noise was loud. Can't imagine anyone not hearing it throughout the night. We stayed without reservation during Stampede and paid for our lack of planning. Would not return. Overpriced for a site with no services, even during Stampede week. We camped at Calgary West Campground in a Truck Camper.

The parking pads were level, but there was no level area for the table. We had water restrictions when we arrived and had to boil our water. Otherwise it was convenient to the train stations for attending the Calgary Stampede. We would stay there again. We camped at Calgary West Campground in a Motorhome.
