Camped in a 35" motorhome. We are self contained so cannot comment on restrooms/shower facilities. Stayed in site #FF14. Loved it! Pros - - Very close to Athabascus River. Can hear it while camping and a very short walk to it. - Level, spacious site. - Lots of trees, quiet - Very convenient to Jasper and the National Park and Icefield Parkway - A herd of elk hang out in the campground - Saw both grizzly and black bears in and around campground. Cons - - Packed in the summer as would be expected. - Pine beetle damage is very sad. 80-90% of the trees are dead. We camped at Wapiti Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

I am used to full hook-ups, so I wasn't very happy with electricity only. However, I knew I was fortunate to have electricity - many campers had no services whatsoever. The National Park is so beautiful, I expect the campgrounds to be less than ideal. But I don't like camping on a parking lot, squeezed up close to other campers on both sides. But as I said previously, the beautiful Jasper National Park makes the inconveniences worthwhile. We camped at Wapiti Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

All you get is electricity here and it is a parking lot, but the surrounding area is woods and meadows and quite nice. Very quiet at night. We would stay here again. We camped at Wapiti Campground (Parks Canada) in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Wapiti is primarily an unserviced campground (sections AA & FF have electricity) best suited for tents and smaller RV's. Reservations need to be made as far in advance as possible. However, there is one section (AA) that is non-reservable (i.e., first come, first serve). It is nothing but a large paved circular area with RV's lined up side-by-side-by-side, though each site has electricity, but no water. There is a central dump station and water fill area available for all campers. So, if you are in Jasper without a reservation, this can serve as a good base. While the main campground has one large central building with hot showers, to serve the over 300 sites, this 30 site loop has its own clean modern washrooms with free hot showers, electric outlets, and flush toilets. There also is a dishwashing sink with hot water. There are a few picnic tables with fire pits around the perimeter of the loop as well as down the hill by the Athabasca river. We camped at Wapiti Campground (Parks Canada) in a Fifth Wheel.

Had reservations so no issue getting in, was disturbed to see vacant sites each night when they insist the camp site is full, understand people booking and then being a no show, campers shoved into the overflow should be allowed into the vacant sites. Parks canada should have a cut-off time . We camped at Wapiti Campground (Parks Canada) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

For 2018 Parks Canada will be closing Whistler Campground for a complete renovation, 780 sites will be off the books for the summer. There is no plan B so if you want to visit Jasper in 2018 plan carefully and early.

We stayed several days in the electric parking lot. Wide spaces, new elec towers, new bath/shower rooms. We were going to stay in the wooded sites, but opted for the elec hookups. Elk herd visited campgrounds in the AM, close to town, would stay again. Wooded areas are very rough and tight on many sites. We camped at Wapiti Campground (Parks Canada) in a Travel Trailer.

First stayed in electrical parking lot: a paved lot with lines. Had nice washroom and showers. Then had an interior site with very large sites, fire ring, picnic table. But interior roads range from fair to poor. The interior rooms are old and have no showers. No water or sewer at the site. Park is very picturesque, we would return. We camped at Wapiti Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

This campground is open year round. In the WINTER it is just the paved parking lot that is open. They do plow it out. With 30 amp plugs, new bathrooms put in a few years back. Always have stayed in the WINTER mostly as an over night spot. Sani dump in town. If the snow isn't deep you can walk to the river and around the rest of the campground. Normally don't have anyone else staying in the WINTER. People do use the bathrooms as a rest stop. Have no idea what it is like in the summer with people around. Looks like everyone could be in there tight. We camped at Wapiti Campground (Parks Canada) in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed in the overflow area which is paved loop, with electric hookup. there was a bath house right in the area, very convenient. Super clean. No charge for the shower, but there was no control of the water and it was HOT! Had ellk wander through the lot in the morning and saw many more bedded down on the way out. We didn't have a reservation and we were glad to get a space in the park. We camped at Wapiti Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Rate cited is for a back-in 30 amp electric only site. Essentially a parking lot with back-in sites that was serving as an overflow area. Parking can be difficult since you are supposed to straight back in if someone is parked next to you. Would stay again only if that was the only choice. Clean restrooms. We camped at Wapiti Campground (Parks Canada) in a Fifth Wheel.

Great setting...in the forest...plenty of shade and space. Feels like camping. No services in the loop we were assigned to, which was fine for the night. Price a little high in these Nat'l Parks, but worth it as you support their park system. Would recommend. We camped at Wapiti Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a marginal park for a large motorhome, unless one wants to stay on the blacktop parking lot that serves as sites with electricity. We were directed around loop "RR", and should not have gone before we looked it over. Trees were tight on both sides and some over hanging branches were too low. If you have a large rig, I suggest Whistlers across the road with full hook ups. Otherwise, this park is a true "camping out" experience. The $8.80/day fire permit is excessive, even if it does include firewood! We camped at Wapiti Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Rate is daily rate for back-in 30 amp electric only site. Essentially a looped parking area with yellow line marked back-in sites, that was serving as an overflow area for the nearby Whistlers Campground at this time of year. Depending on which side of the loop you get and how large your rig is, maneuverability can be either good or tight. Also, depending on the site, a little or a great deal of leveling required. The views of elk out our window offset any negatives. We were able to connect to our Internet satellite, and have no problem staying here again. Overall Rating:

The park is a paved parking lot with lined out space's very close together. The electric hook up look new and good 30 amp power. It was a over flow for the large park that was booked. The park is OK for overnight it is next to a river with beautiful views. The restrooms also looked new and clean. You are in the middle of the wilderness so campgrounds are limited. I would stay here again. We camped at Wapiti Campground (Parks Canada) in a Fifth Wheel.

Very similar to Whistlers. Entry is just across the road into Jasper. Most sites were occupied, so we settled for boondocking rather than the electric only sites in the "parking lot". Fire permit of $7 required if you want a campfire, but that includes all the wood you want to burn. We camped at Wapiti Campground (Parks Canada) in a Fifth Wheel.
