If you're looking for a woodsy outdoor experience, Whistler is the place. We had 30 amp with electric and sewer. No cable or antenna service but that was just fine for us. For larger rigs, select your site in the website map, as some spots might be difficult to manuveur into otherwise. It was so quiet and peaceful. If you want to stay awhile book your site when reservations begin in January. We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Best grocery shopping we found was at AG Robinson's. Good selection of meats and produce. Maligne boat tour was worth the money to see the other side of the lake and the glaciers that feed it. The laundromat in town that is partnered with the Snow Dome coffee bar on Patricia Street is the best place. Machines are top notch and very efficient.

Large campground mostly in the woods. Interior roads are rough and tight for large rigs. Biggest concern is the number of dead pine trees caused by the pine beetle. About 40% of the trees in the park are pine trees and most of them are dead or dying. Campers seem oblivious to dangers of camping under dead trees. Any wind gust can bring down large branches. Fires are prohibited but any accidental spark could create an inferno in the park. There is only one exit.... We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

August 4,5 Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada - Whistler's Campground, $37, Site 60B, 781 sites, just electric We stayed at this National Park Campground for two nights and it is the largest campground in the Jasper area. Sites are in a mile of loops by numbers like our site was 60 B. There are over 781 sites here and the individual sites are a good size many with electric. There is a picnic table and only some have a firepit for an extra fee of $2.70 for your stay. Firewood is delivered to your site and it is part of the fee. The only problem we had is that there is a fire ban in this area because of the BC and Alberta fires. There are showers in the park but they were too far away from us. Bathhouses between loops. It is a nice campground and about 1 mile from the town of Jasper. Elk, caribou and bears can be seen in the park. There is another NPS campground near here Wapati which is also huge. The town of Jasper is very RV friendly with parking along both sides of main street and in public parking lots. Cute town and it is at the end of route 93 The Icefield Parkway. Lots to do in the area. Good stay! This area has been mobbed this summer and all campgrounds have been full so make reservations when they become available in January. We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Campground was sufficient for the stay in Jasper but nothing exciting about it. There is a lack of campgrounds in Jasper and not very many have hookups. The parks could definitely improve in this area. We dry- camped which was fine. Generators were allowed during certain times. No trails nearby and we couldn't really find anything to do at the campground itself so the only reason we would stay here again is to visit the area. Try to book in advance if possible to get a better site/campground if anything better is available? No wi-fi. We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge was the highlight of our trip. The Fairmonts are dog-friendly and they even had an area for us to eat inside with the dogs. There is an absolutely gorgeous flat trail around the lake that I would highly recommend if you have the time.

Check-in at the registration booth was fast as we had a reservation. Good thing we had one since the status board said the campground was full. There was the standard lecture about bears and not to leave any food or water outside. There are 10 full hookup campsite loops, each with 10 sites. Seven of the loops have no fire pits and three have them. The rest of the campground has everything from no services to water and electric. There are some shelters called Otentiks that are for rent as well. Our site (51E) was in the first loop past the dump stations. It was a fairly level, gravel pull-through with full hookups and a table. The utility hookups are located in the middle which worked out fine for us. We were in a no fire pit loop. Due to the high fire hazard risk, there was a campfire ban, so no one anywhere else could have a fire which suited my DW just fine. No OTA TV or Wi-Fi and the trees would prevent any satellite reception. This might change in the future, as the pine beetle has killed many trees in the park and expect to see more open areas when the dead trees are removed. Garbage and recycle bins were nearby on the access road to our loop as well as near the dump stations. Playground, washrooms, kitchen shelter, and food lockers were nearby as well. If ever in the area, we would stay here again. We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

We stayed here in a 45' Coach pulling a 1500 Ram. This was a beautiful National campground. Although there was no water or sewer we did have 50 amp service. We had elk and newborn calves in our campground. If you have a large coach you need to be careful of the trees. The access road to the sites are fine but once you pull into the circular site areas you need to be careful. We selected a site at the beginning of the loop so I did not have to go around the loop if there were trees. I would not have been able to go around the loop without scratching my coach so I backed into the site. This may not make sense to you but once you look at the campground map I think it will. The campground site also has photos of each site so you can see how open it is. We had no problem backing into our site. We could not get US DirecTV because of the trees. We would stay here again but would be selective on the site we picked. Campground is close to town. We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

We had 50 amp service only. The roads were torn up due to utility/construction work being done. We have driven over 11,000 miles and this was the first time we had breakage in our travel trailer. The site was spacious and trees between sites. We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Travel Trailer.

The drive from Banff to Jasper was amazing! The Icefield Parkway is picture perfect! The provincial parks are extremely busy but worth the effort to see these priceless places.

After Banff, this campground was very average. The access roads were full of potholes. The site was spacious but not very level. We booked for 3 nights but only stayed 2. The scenery of Jasper made up for it however! We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

I really enjoyed this park. The site areas are semi- mowed in an area big enough to keep the mosquito's down. We had Elk in the campground every day. One day we had a bear pass through. The folks who were our neighbors were really nice. We camped here in a 40' motorhome. We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

This lovely quiet wooded campground is only 2 km south of the town of Jasper. There are fire and no fire loops, and sites range from totally unserviced to fully serviced (30w E, W, S). There is considerable variability as to site size and privacy. Full service sites seem to have the least privacy and tend to be small. We were in loop 30 (unserviced, no fires) and the sites were spacious and offered good privacy. There are two shower buildings with 6 showers each, one for men and the other for women to service the 700+ campsites. Each loop has a washroom with toilets, sinks with hot & cold water, electric outlets, as well as an outdoor sink for washing dishes. The dump station can accommodate 8 RVs at one time, but black tank flushes are not possible as the non-potable water hose does not have a proper fitting. There is no WiFi, but cell phone coverage is good throughout the campground. Free WiFi is available at the municipal library (open daily expect Sun). Paid WiFi ($2/20min) is available at the laundromat on Patricia St. The PetroCanada, next to Robinsons grocery store on Connaught Dr sells propane by the pound. Both of the PetroCanada stations and the Shell on Connaught sell diesel. We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Fifth Wheel.

Pretty wooded setting. An elk were out one morning. As we circled around the loop to our campsite, sealed trash bags were laying out on the loop road that our trailer ran over them before I got out to push a few back to the grass line. This was shared with the collector when he stopped by later. Only one shower was open for use in the entire campgound at the far side and we did not use. Train tracks nearby but noise not obnoxious. Fire permit must be purchased to burn wood in site fire pit. CAD camp fee listed above does not include online fee and entry cost. We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Travel Trailer.

Campsites are mostly dirt with a gravel pad. They are well spaced and some loops will have elk that hang out in them. We were in loop 61 and the elk were there almost every day.

Free firewood is awesome. Showers were marginally clean. The Showers are a long walk depending on where you stay. We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Travel Trailer.

First off, I would highly recommend making reservations in advance, if you are planning a visit to Jasper in high season (summer). We didn't have any reservations before we left home. Thankfully, we stopped at the welcome/information center right on hwy 4, shortly after we crossed the Canadian border from Montana. Not only was there a ton of information available, but they offered help with reservations, at no cost.

The woman there was able to book us into both Banff and Jasper, with 4 nights in Jasper. We loved the town of Jasper, and appreciated the fact that it was alot less busy than Banff. But the cg could definitely use some improvements! The interior roads were terrible, very bumpy with lots of pot holes. Thankfully we didn't get any rain on our visit, otherwise, it really would have been a mess!

While sites weren't close, the layout just left it feeling less than private. Lots of trees, and also plenty of elk, too! They were nightly visitors to the cg. Be careful though! The ranger checking us in told us that the week before, an elk attacked a dog. Always keep your dog on a leash and attended at all times!

Note that nightly rate does not include $11 (Canadian) booking fee, or Canadian Park Pass. We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Be sure to visit the sky tram at Whistler's Mountain. Ride to the top for amazing views! We bought the $59 (Canadian) per person package, which included the tram ride and dinner on top of the mountain. It was one of the highlights of our entire trip!
