Overall Rating:

Rate was $32 USD per night for a seven night stay. Site was pull-thru, gravel, FHU, 30 amp with many trees. Spacing between sites was very good. Electric, water, sewer all worked well. We had good Verizon reception, but no DishTV satellite reception. All of Whistlers campground will closed in 2019 for reconstruction. The campgrounds in Jasper and Banff National Parks are quite popular so reservations should be made well in advance of your stay. We would stay here again. We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Our site was very large and level, as were all the sites in our loop 29....no services in our loop.....we were passing thru and only stayed the one night so we didn't use showers....the sites are somewhat private since they are so large with a lot of trees....water to fill tank was at the dump station...cell signal ATT was ok and used hot spots which were slow at times....no tv channels and no fires allowed in this loop....big rig friendly and their is a lot to do and see in the area, sorry we were not able to stay longer.... We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

We had a wonderful time here in the park, though I might complain about the rainy weather (which is no fault of the park.) Our site was spacious and easy to get into. We had a picnic table, the hook-ups were easy and the site was level and shady. We were in the full hook-up section. Elk walked through just about every day.A very nice national park. Jasper was several miles away but easy to get to. We really enjoyed the park and would definitely stay here again if in the area. Luckily we reserved this year and didn't plan for 2019 when the park will be closed for improvements. We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Maligne Cyn - if you can hike, park at the lowest bridge and hike up to avoid the crowds. We took the gondola and hiked to the top of Whistlers. Great views. Icefields Pkwy was very handy with its great sights. We hiked Wilcox Pass for marvelous views down onto Athabasca Glacier. Great hike, great views - and they've put some of the red chairs there.

Initially, we reserved for full hook-up sites for two nights. When we arrived, the first night we could only access 30AMP. The staff was apologetic, but no choice. The second night we were able to move to a full hook-up site. The sites are all back-ins and located in gravel "loops" which are surrounded by a paved perimeter road with potholes and rough patches. Each loop shares a restroom and shower building. There are fire pits but there is a burn ban in effect. Picnic tables are on each site. We didn't see bear in or around the campsites, but there are deer and elk wandering all over the place. Keep your supplies locked up - not in a cooler left on your picnic table. We enjoyed the stay here and would return to a full hook-up site. We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Groceries in Jasper can be had but the two stores are difficult to access with very little off street parking. Pedestrians abound and several think they have the right of way no matter what. There are two fuel stops we found with diesel. Continuing on to Grand Cache you will find the highway is pretty tough. There is construction and frost heaves (many not marked). Go carefully.

Overall Rating:

Rate shown is dry camping in US dollars. Worth noting that Whistler will be closed in 2019 to be overhauled so any camping in this area will be a challenge. We dry camped in section 29 and the restroom was still closed due to "frozen pipes". We used our generator in the AM and PM per the requirements but many campers ignored the hours. Once the holiday weekend was over, we were the only campers in a loop of almost 30 sites. We are coming back to Jasper in August and actually moved our August reservation from their Wabasso campground to Whistler as the road construction will close the southern part of PH93A. Thus, you will have to drive over a ridge every time you want to go to / from the campground. Plus, we will have more shade for dry camping at Whistler. We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Very large spacious sites with numerous pine trees. Unfortunately, a lot of them are dead, and some sites make it tight for big rigs pulling into the sites. Although the campground is large, it is quiet. Utilities were handy and worked well. Only 30 amp is available and there is no cable for TV, but then people come here for the nature, and it is beautiful. The nice little town of Jasper and the Icefields Parkway are nearby. We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Fifth Wheel.

Absolutely beautiful campground. Wooded sites, private. Showers were less than desirable. Push button so you get 2 seconds of hot water and it comes down 2 inches from the wall. Made me want to use my RV shower for the first time. Plus, both showers and bathroom facilities were the dirtiest we've encountered on our trip. Upgrade the showers and bathrooms and this would be fantastic place! We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

If you're looking for a woodsy outdoor experience, Whistler is the place. We had 30 amp with electric and sewer. No cable or antenna service but that was just fine for us. For larger rigs, select your site in the website map, as some spots might be difficult to manuveur into otherwise. It was so quiet and peaceful. If you want to stay awhile book your site when reservations begin in January. We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Best grocery shopping we found was at AG Robinson's. Good selection of meats and produce. Maligne boat tour was worth the money to see the other side of the lake and the glaciers that feed it. The laundromat in town that is partnered with the Snow Dome coffee bar on Patricia Street is the best place. Machines are top notch and very efficient.

Campground was sufficient for the stay in Jasper but nothing exciting about it. There is a lack of campgrounds in Jasper and not very many have hookups. The parks could definitely improve in this area. We dry- camped which was fine. Generators were allowed during certain times. No trails nearby and we couldn't really find anything to do at the campground itself so the only reason we would stay here again is to visit the area. Try to book in advance if possible to get a better site/campground if anything better is available? No wi-fi. We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Fifth Wheel.

Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge was the highlight of our trip. The Fairmonts are dog-friendly and they even had an area for us to eat inside with the dogs. There is an absolutely gorgeous flat trail around the lake that I would highly recommend if you have the time.

August 4,5 Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada - Whistler's Campground, $37, Site 60B, 781 sites, just electric We stayed at this National Park Campground for two nights and it is the largest campground in the Jasper area. Sites are in a mile of loops by numbers like our site was 60 B. There are over 781 sites here and the individual sites are a good size many with electric. There is a picnic table and only some have a firepit for an extra fee of $2.70 for your stay. Firewood is delivered to your site and it is part of the fee. The only problem we had is that there is a fire ban in this area because of the BC and Alberta fires. There are showers in the park but they were too far away from us. Bathhouses between loops. It is a nice campground and about 1 mile from the town of Jasper. Elk, caribou and bears can be seen in the park. There is another NPS campground near here Wapati which is also huge. The town of Jasper is very RV friendly with parking along both sides of main street and in public parking lots. Cute town and it is at the end of route 93 The Icefield Parkway. Lots to do in the area. Good stay! This area has been mobbed this summer and all campgrounds have been full so make reservations when they become available in January. We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Large campground mostly in the woods. Interior roads are rough and tight for large rigs. Biggest concern is the number of dead pine trees caused by the pine beetle. About 40% of the trees in the park are pine trees and most of them are dead or dying. Campers seem oblivious to dangers of camping under dead trees. Any wind gust can bring down large branches. Fires are prohibited but any accidental spark could create an inferno in the park. There is only one exit.... We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Check-in at the registration booth was fast as we had a reservation. Good thing we had one since the status board said the campground was full. There was the standard lecture about bears and not to leave any food or water outside. There are 10 full hookup campsite loops, each with 10 sites. Seven of the loops have no fire pits and three have them. The rest of the campground has everything from no services to water and electric. There are some shelters called Otentiks that are for rent as well. Our site (51E) was in the first loop past the dump stations. It was a fairly level, gravel pull-through with full hookups and a table. The utility hookups are located in the middle which worked out fine for us. We were in a no fire pit loop. Due to the high fire hazard risk, there was a campfire ban, so no one anywhere else could have a fire which suited my DW just fine. No OTA TV or Wi-Fi and the trees would prevent any satellite reception. This might change in the future, as the pine beetle has killed many trees in the park and expect to see more open areas when the dead trees are removed. Garbage and recycle bins were nearby on the access road to our loop as well as near the dump stations. Playground, washrooms, kitchen shelter, and food lockers were nearby as well. If ever in the area, we would stay here again. We camped at Whistlers Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.
