Sep 2017 - $49.00
Packed to the last site (probably pretty common during summer season) it was surprisingly quiet. Either all campers behaved well or the rangers enforced the quiet time. Sites are level and mostly in the open. Little to no privacy here. Hookups in good order. Just the sewer intake was a bit off the usual course - a hole in the middle of the site, covered by a rock. Unfortunately one road and remaining accessible trails were closed due to wildfires so we need to and will come back to explore more of this beautiful NP. - TheSchweitzers

August 20 & 21 Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, Canada, Townsite, Waterton Lakes, Site B15, $43, full hookups, This Canadian National Park campground is in walking distance of the town and Cameron Falls. It is big with a number of loops. Mostly open sites in the sun. Bathhouses and showers were nice. Our site was gravel but many of the roads need repair. The ranger show at night about the 150 years of history of this park was an excellent and creative presentation. We were here two nights driving over from St. Mary's Campground in Glacier taking route 89 to Chief Mt. Highway (17) to Waterton Lakes, Canada. The road travels through open range with the mountains in the background. Need your passports and dog records for the border stop but it was quick. So much to do in this town and park. Drive the Akamina Parkway to Cameron Lake, Red Rock Parkway to Red Rock Canyon, visit the Historic Prince of Wales Hotel, shop and eat in the town right on the lake, take a boat ride and see wildlife. Deer, bears and tons of Big Horned Sheep. We saw Big Horned Sheep on both drives right on the road and on the main street in town about a dozen of them, including babies, walked towards us as we were driving in. One bear crossed in front of us as we were coming down the driveway from the hotel. It was a good two days at this park. - gsnakehill

Check-in at the registration kiosk was quick and efficient since we had a reservation. At this time of year, the campground is usually full, so make reservations for at least July and August. Campground roads are sealcoat gravel and I noticed a few potholes, but nothing major. This campground has a variety of sites from no services to full hookups. Our site (A25) had full hookups. It was a fairly level, gravel pull-through that included a picnic table on a concrete pad. Electric and water connections were in the middle while the sewer dump was in the middle of the parking pad which made it a challenge to connect. All hookups worked fine, but the sewer needed extra hose and a bit of fiddling to drain properly. For those sites without sewer, there is a dump station on Waterton Avenue close to the mouth of Cameron Creek. The surrounding grass landscape was full of gopher holes made by the hundreds of the resident ground squirrels. We had some great views of the surrounding mountains. Picked up 2 channels on OTA TV, but chose to watch satellite since our site was wide open. There was a notice that the park Wi-Fi was down and nearest open access was a block away near the village playground. There are a series of trails through the campground that go to Cameron Falls, Upper Waterton Lake, and connections to other trails further into the mountains. There is an Interpretive Theatre on the falls trail. The village is walking distance away. We would definitely stay here again for any future visits to the area. - Onemoretrail

Campground is about six kilometers east of Waterton Lakes National Park. There is a wonderful view of the mountains from this campground. The problem is the amperage for the electricity. The service is 30 amp, but it is a very weak 30 amps. It was cold and rainy while we were here. Usually, we run 2 portable electric heaters on 30 amps to keep us warm, but we couldn’t run even one of the heaters without losing power. The park is nice, though, and the grounds are well-maintained. If you plan to be here when neither heat or air conditioning is needed, it’s a great place to camp at while visiting Waterton Lakes National Park. - Bobbi1948

Aug 2017 - $35.00
The park is located a short drive to the Waterton park and town. We had a pull through site that included a picnic table and more than adequate space for trailer and pick up. The park is actually larger than you can see upon entering. There are many shaded areas and tenting areas. A trail is located on the property maintained by the local conservancy group. There is a coin laundry on site and a small store. It had minimum supplies but that may have been that the season was coming to an end. We chose to leave after two days whensmoke from the local fires was getting much too think. We had enjoyed time in Waterton but did no hiking or biking again because of the smoke. It was an easy drive to Pitcher Creek for major grocery shopping at the co-op but there is also a Walmart. - John-Jean
Aug 2017 - $36.00
This camp will close for the winter October 1, 2017, and may never reopen. The park's land is being added to the national park. It's possible the park will reopen as a provincial park. - Mtmoi
Aug 2017 - $45.00
We stayed here for four nights. Two nights were $45 Cdn and two nights were $55 Cdn due to a long weekend surcharge. This campground is within minutes drive to the Waterton National Parks main entrance. I'm sure everyone staying at this park does so because it's so hard to get a camping spot right in the Waterton townsite. Our site, 59, was flat and easy to pull into with enough space to open the awning comfortably. We thoroughly enjoyed the adjacent nature trail and the excellent photo viewpoints. The RV area is very open with few trees, however, the tenting area is cut out of a heavily treed area. Quite the contrast. We were there on a long weekend and the campground was very very busy. This may have led to washrooms being not too clean. We opted not to use them or the showers. The staff was very friendly and helpful, doing their best to accommodate everyone. You had to pay extra for WiFi and tried it out for only one day but the signal was too weak to use. There are no services close by and limited services (gas and groceries) in Waterton. Make sure you stock up in Pincher Creek. We enjoyed the immediate area and, of course, loved Waterton Park. We would stay here again but would make the Townsite campgrounds our first choice. - HowieS82

August 22,23 Many Glacier Campground, Glacier National Park, 22 miles from St. Marys, no hookups, dump station, 41 sites with reservations and 62 without. $15 Golden Age This campground is very popular and hard to get into even when making reservations. All the sites are pull-throughs surrounded by trees. Some of the sites are in the sun all the time others mostly in shade. Sites 92-95 are along the creek. Our site was a reserved site #33 and we had a short walk from the back of our site to the night programs. We also had a short walk to the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn where there is a restaurant, store and gift shop. Hiking trails take off from this area and down the road to the Grinnell Glacier. Swiftcurrent Lake is close and the Historic Many Glacier Lodge which has beautiful views looking out over the lake. Campground is quiet at night because everyone hikes or bikes and they are exhausted. Ranger shows at night were good. This campground is on the east side of the Continental Divide at a higher elevation than the east side of Glacier NP, so the hikes are quicker to reach the glaciers. Lots of wildlife in this area. We stayed for two nights and just love it. There are no gas stations here so you need to fill up in St. Marys. We left at 7 am and there were already 25 cars or RV's in line at the gate to get a camping spot and many more driving in so try to get a reservation. - gsnakehill
Jun 2017 - $20.00
Campground has newly remodeled or new restrooms--very clean. It looked like they were building showers and a laundry facility, but not sure as it was not finished, yet. Road to the campground is bumpy, but just take it slow over the rough areas. Beautiful views in all directions and great hiking trails nearby. The lodge and restaurant are close by, but had not opened yet while we were there. Lots of wildlife in this area of the park. Park staff were friendly and knowledgeable about all of the park areas in Glacier. - Aircruiser
Sep 2015 - $20.00
Very popular campground located near some of the best hiking in the park. No reservations accepted so arrive early in the day to try and obtain a site as someone is leaving. The 12 mile road into this area of the park is paved but in bad conditions. Five sections have been washed out. It is passable but you need to slow down. There are approximately 25 sites that will take trailers up to 32' or RVs up to 38'. Almost all of the sites are pull through but the short radius makes many difficult to place a towable RV. Beautiful setting as you are surrounded by mountains and lakes. Water is available at the dump station. Bring all needed supplies since it is over 50 miles to a grocery store or laundry in Browning, MT. No cell phone service - AT&T is only available in Browning, Version available at St. Marys. There are pay showers ($2.50 for 8 minutes) available at the Swiftwater Motor Lodge. Limited groceries, supplies, and food available at the Lodge. Two restaurants nearby but expensive. Hiking in the area is wonderful with much wildlife to see. We viewed mountain goats, big horn sheep, and a bull moose while hiking. This campground with no hookups in a remote area is not for everyone but is beautiful! - linnemj

Water & Electric at sites, dump station available. Sites are grass and fairly level. We oped for the buffet dinner and music show, $77 for 2 and thoroughly enjoyed both. Our view of the Rockies was somewhat obscured due to smoke from the forest fires in British Columbia. About 30 miles to fuel station or to Waterton Lakes National Park. Waterton is very scenic and is a continuation of Glacier National Park. Restrooms are clean but older. - DRKM
May 2017 - $71.00
Price is in Canadian money and includes a buffet dinner and musical show. Office personnel was very helpful and courteous. You camp on grass and the view is spectacular. We really enjoyed the buffet and show. - rolling homeless

A fun place to stay, the live music was very entertaining and the food was fantastic! The hosts are very welcoming. Close enough to Waterton lakes park for a day trip and the carriage museum in Cardston is a must see as well. We will definitely be back again. Close enough you can see the rockies from there. - MJB

Nice large park along a small river in Cardston. Plenty of trees for shade. Level gravel sites with full hook ups. Also has a off leash area for dogs to run. - hhendrix
Sep 2016 - $23.00
Quiet park with large sites. In late September, when we were there, there was no one in the office. It was handled much like the National Parks in the US. Pick out a spot, put your money in an envelope and you are done. We will stay here on our next visit to Cardston. - RagFtw

Oct 2017 - $40.00
This is a large park with all types of sites and friendly people. It has a little store with dipped ice-cream and treats, propane filling, hot tub, and a lake within walking distance. They do not have cable TV and their Wi-Fi is reasonably fast in the morning but terribly slow at night. This park is very close to the east entrance to Glacier National Park. We enjoyed this park. - Rancherman
Sep 2017 - $75.00
Very nice park with a fabulous view of the moutains. Wonderful dog run - very large and clean - we used it twice a day and my dogs loved it. Quite pricey, but worth it for a few days to park so close to Glacier National Park. - KS North
Sep 2017 - $65.00
As others have noted, high nightly cost but that is typical for both east and west sides of Glacier NP. However, the east side has a higher sales tax than the west side which adds to the nightly cost, I assume from being on the reservation. Never seen a gift shop like this one: high end camping gear, good assortment of food and beverages, clothing, plus plenty of souvenir trinkets - very nice. Big laundry facility but obviously used by locals and folks cleaning pet bedding: be sure to clean the lint traps! Sites were fine with gorgeous views when the smoke cleared. A snow cleared a lot of the smoke and the weather was great for our stay. Seems more native shrubs or trees could be added to the grassy areas to separate the sites. Watch for the foxes early in the morning patrolling the sites. Wifi was very weak but if you have Verizon the signal is strong. No issues with utilities. Relatively low occupancy and folks were spread out, giving a sense of more space per site. - Old Geezer

Lucky to get an opening because tent campers are no longer allowed due to bear activity. Nice setting close to the entrance of the park. Unlevel sites but good privacy. Generators are confined to one loop so others can go without the noise and fumes. We liked that policy and the quietness. We'll be back. - TheSchweitzers

August 18,19 St. Mary Campground, St. Mary, Glacier National Park, East entrance, no hookups, reservations, showers, bathhouse, dump station, 156 sites, $14 with Golden Age Pass, Site 155 This is the largest campground just to the right when you enter the east side of Glacier National Park and is open all year with reservations during the summer months. There are three loops A, B, C. We were in Loop C near the showers and interpretive night programs. There is a half mile trail that leads back to the Visitor Center where information, films, exhibits and the shuttles for the Going To The Sun Road leave. Some sites have Aspen Trees for shade while others are open to the sun. Loop A is generator free but the road through it is rocky. There are views of the mountains from most sites. The town of St. Mary's is just past the entrance to the park with a lodge, restaurants, shopping, gift shop, and gas . St. Mary's Lake is not far from the campground but the views driving up to Logan Pass are stunning. You pass mountains, lakes, waterfalls, Rising Sun area and a number of pullouts for hiking and picnicking. Good stop! - gsnakehill
Aug 2017 - $12.00
Great proximity to good hiking trails on the east side of the park. Fresh water and dump station are available. Showers are free. Currently a ban on camp fires or charcoal grills, propane is fine. The park is heavily utilized and I recommend the free park shuttle as parking fills up very early. - DRKM
