We 'were' regulars and have enjoyed this park quite a bit over the years. There is a new manager there that has decided to get rid of many waste receptacles as well as some other head scratching changes. Not for the better from what we can tell. We were told that another new rule is no checking in before check in time, even if your site is empty from the night before. We challenged that rule with the corporate office after being forced to turn our huge rig around a very tight spot after being denied check in...to an empty, clean site. Further we were told to go park in a local business parking lot to wait till check in time. The business was not pleased. I do believe they got things straightened out after corporate got involved. The next morning people were checking in as early as 9AM. Hopefully the new manager will not totally spoil the park. Fingers crossed, but so far it is discouraging. We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Another really nice state park in Arizona, I can't think of any reason to give less than the max stars. We checked in just before noon and didn't have any issues at all like the previous poster mentioned. Our pull through site had 3 steps that led up to a large yard area with a picnic table, fire ring and grill. The hookups are on the inside of the site, so if you want to park so that your door faces the mountain, you'll need to run the electric and water under your rig, like we did. But that wasn't an issue. We had such an incredible view. And there are so many trees and bushes surrounding the site, it was very private. We'll definitely be coming back here. We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Goldfield ghost town is very close by and you can hear the gunfights at night. We also heard coyotes every night and sometimes in the morning.

Really liked this place. If sites had sewer hookups, it would be a 5 star. We stayed in site 53 and I believe it was the best site as you look straight at Superstition Mtns. Sites 51/53/55 and 69 to me are the best for views. We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Motorhome.

This park was the most cost effective in the area even tho further out from the city. Hiking is about the only activity we did and it was too warm to do much. We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are a couple tourist type attractions nearby but we did not do them. They did look like fun. If there is rain be sure to watch for flash floods. We had a flood the last morning and had 30 foot wide by 1 foot deep all around the motorhome. Drainage was good and complete once the rain stopped.

We enjoy Lost Dutchman State Park for the trails and camping experience. The ONLY thing that is missing is restroom/shower facility for sites 76 through 104. It is quite a hike to get to the next facility available. We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Motorhome.

Another beautiful public park campground near Phoenix, with great mountain views. We stayed a week in the new section, sites 76-104, which all have electric and water. The sites here are much closer together than in the old section, with those around the outside of the loop (like ours) having a bit more privacy than those in the center of the loop, which looked really crammed together, one on top of the next. Sites are paved which is nice, but not level; we needed wood blocks under our front tires before our jacks could get us level. There is no bath house in the new section, so it's either a drive or a fairly long walk to get to one of the two bath houses in the old section. The old section has much more spacious and private sites, some with electric and water and some without hookups. Generators are allowed on the no hookup sites, so there will be some noise from them. The showers were a bit dated-looking, but the water was hot with good pressure which is what matters to us! We like that the various trails are easily accessible right from the campground, rather than having to drive to a trailhead. There were plenty of places to walk our dog. It's an 8-10 minute drive to supermarkets and restaurants in Apache Junction. Our Verizon and AT&T both worked pretty well without a booster, though our AT&T signal was only 1 bar at our site. There were lots of cholla cactus around the campground, including several right at the edge of our site, and our dog and our neighbor got stuck by them, so be careful! We'd return here. We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Motorhome.

Nice clean decently spaced sites, great views, okay bathroom, decent price, close to town for all your needs. We strayed in the no hookup sites by mistake, didn't notice it when I made reservations. No hookups is fine for us as we have solar, what I didn't care for was the generators many others use but I guess that's my problem, just something to keep in mind. The showers could use some work, getting dated and not very clean, even if you are the first in after the volunteers get done. Overall I think if I had gotten a site around the campgrounds perimeter we would have liked it better, the generator noise was a turnoff for us. We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful State RV park situated just under the Superstition Mountains. Found it unbelievable that everything was so green, considering it was the desert. We stayed at two sites (79&57) while there. Both were very nice and plenty of space between other RVs. Both were pull-thru sites, with 57 having the longer paved drive as well as a larger site. Both were full hookup. We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

A great State Park with roomy sites, awesome Superstition mountain views, and lots of wildlife. Good, paved interior roads, and mostly level, paved sites. Plenty of trails, from easy to challenging. Lots to do in the Park and nearby. The only negatives: Not enough restrooms/showers; if you don't use the one in your RV you might have a lengthy walk. Only one dump station; two can dump at once but there can be a wait. Campgrounds were full the 2 weeks we were here - reserve well in advance to get a site. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed one night to help a friend learn how to set up & use his new tt. (was mine) This is a very nice, scenic park, very well kept, mostly by workcamper/volunteers. . . the only problem we had was low voltage electrical service, which I had noticed previously. 108/109 volts into your rig is hard on a/c etc. Using an adapter 30 amp to 50 plug usually helps, but not this time. .. & the park was nearly empty ( it was 106 out). . In milder weather when a/c is not necessary it's a great place. We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Amazing views of the Superstition Mountains, clean bathrooms, private large showers, plenty of space between sites. Natural vegetation provides privacy. We saw rabbits & lots of quail at our site. During the day you can hear the train from nearby Gold Field but we didn't mind. There are trails throughout the park. It is located close enough to town to get food, shop, etc but far enough away. Beautiful place! We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Views of the Superstition Mountains and access to hiking & biking trails right from the campsite are a treat, and the low price makes this park a good value. Access roads and sites are paved and in great shape, all surrounded by sand and and desert plantings. Our pull-thru site was quite spacious; the only downside is no privacy between sites. Water and electric hookups were convenient. Although there is no sewer on site, a clean, neat dump station is available. There was no WiFi, but we got a decent Verizon signal. We did not use the restrooms or showers. Although nothing here was truly spectacular, everything was very good, making this one of our highest rated destinations. We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Motorhome.

We thoroughly loved our stay at Lost Dutchman State Park and are booked already for 14 days next year. Campsites are spacious, level, and hookups are convenient. (Sites are so large that several of the host sites have two large rigs parked on them.) Lots of vegetation on these large sites, with California quail and hummingbirds to entertain you daily. Several hiking trails steps from your campsite and many more in the area. The sunsets are amazing--dinner preparation was interrupted on many a night to take in the spectacular colors. Camp hosts run the campground, and do a great job raking sites in between guests and cleaning bathrooms. A bit more attention could be paid to the corners in the showers, but I'm being really nit-picky. Looking forward to returning! We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Apache Junction is approximately 4-5 miles away and provides ample shopping and restaurants.

We did the moonlight ranger hike (held at full moon) - what fun and very informative. Make sure you drive the Apache Trail while in the area--very scenic and relaxing.

One of the best State parks we have encountered! Spotless, natural separation from other campsites, very quiet, great roads BUT hard to get a reservation unless your are months in advance of your stay. This park stays booked so plan your return at least 6 months prior. Great hiking and biking. Stables near by and shopping about 4 miles away. It doesn't get much better for a water/electric only site. Fire wood is .... crazy expensive! $5 gets you about 3 small sticks of wood. We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Motorhome.
