Pretty typical desert campground in layout, but more greenery than I expected. Conveniently located to Mesa. Obviously new power posts, water source in good condition, conveniently places sewer, nice level site. Kept clean, but of course with no paved campsites, one is always camping in the dust and grit, so hard to keep rig clean. My one complaint, not specific to this campground alone, but certainly true here, is that while they claim to have WiFi, in reality that is not the case. Yes, there is WiFi on the property, but like so many places that claim to provide this amenity, you have to sit in the laundry room or rest room or some such place to get any connectivity. The WiFi situation means that I will not stay here again, although that may not be important to others. We camped at Mesa / Apache Junction KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a nice looking in-town KOA, with most sites a little close together, but the trees and landscaping make it feel pretty nice. The "dog park" was disappointing: a tiny, 10 foot by 10 foot chain link fenced area. We did find a large empty field across the street that we used for dog walks. We tried the WiFi but found it to be unusable, but our AT&T and Verizon both worked well. Our site was unusually wide, but poorly laid out, with the electric and water hookup in the far back-right corner, and the sewer literally 60 feet away in the front-left. There was no way to position our motorhome to reach all the utilities, even parked diagonally across the site. The campground said many sites have utilities in strange places so they have 50-amp extension cables they loan to guests, but they were all loaned out already. They instead loaned us a 30-amp extension cable, and a water hose since our two 25-foot hoses combined were not long enough to reach the spigot. We asked to be moved but were told no other sites were available. I asked if we could be charged for a 30-amp site instead of the 50-amp site we reserved, since there was no way for us to access the 50-amp connection but the office said no. Once we were plugged in, our Progressive EMS kept shutting down power to our rig due to low voltage (below 104 volts). A camp host tested the pedestal, saw low voltage, but said there was nothing he could do. Another camp host we spoke with later said there have been other electrical problems and the system will be upgraded this summer. The next morning we asked to be moved, as there was an empty site 2 sites down (as suggested by a camp host) but were told all sites are already reserved. No one ever checked into that site during our stay. The person in the office didn't seem very interested in helping find a solution for us. We made it through our two night stay, using as little electricity as possible, and left frustrated. We will not return. We camped at Mesa / Apache Junction KOA in a Motorhome.

They price slightly higher on weekends and we were there 7 days. Our cost averaged $44 a night including tax and KOA member discount. The pool is large and HEATED. There is a large hot tub next to the pool. Two thumbs up on the pool and spa and shaded and un-shaded seating. We had bicycles but riding directly out of this park is not good. No shoulder and no bike lanes nearby. We only found out on our last day there was a large city park not too far away that did have bicycle paths. Wish we'd asked about that sooner. Easy drive to lots of good hiking. Easy drive to groceries, WalMart, RedBox etc. Some highway noise at all times as the main drag is only a few hundred yards away but not an issue for us. (We have a tight trailer and a white noise machine). My one caution is they only have one set of restrooms. They close them for up to 2 hours mid day to clean them. If you are camping and need a toilet during that time you are out of luck. They really need a second potty somewhere but I asked and they said that's all!! We camped at Mesa / Apache Junction KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

When in the area you don't want to miss Organ Stop Pizza! In Mesa. Google it! Very popular and so worth the easy 16 mile drive. Don't let long lines worry you as they get you in and seated very fast. Really glad our friends told us about this one! They have the largest Wurlitzer organ in the world. It's SO much more than sitting listening to "organ music".

We had reserved a deluxe pull-thru with propane BBQ grill. We arrived at approximately 2:30 PM and we were escorted by an employee to our site. By the time we set up our fifth wheel, we discovered some electrical problems within the RV. We went to the office and asked about hiring reliable technical help with our problem. After receiving a name, we called the technician only to find out that he was too busy to respond to our problem within the next 3 days. That evening, we experienced significant heater issues in our RV during the unusual cold evening. We decided that we did not want to spend more chilly nights in the fifth wheel without any opportunity to hire technical help, so we went to the front desk to ask the clerk if we could get a partial refund for the 3 nights we had paid or give us 2 nights at a later date in February. The clerk told me to give her specific alternate dates before we checked out of the park. When my wife returned to the office, the clerk told her that they could not give her other dates. Therefore, we lost two nights of lodging after only using one. We were upset with the clerk's answer because we had no other choices except to stay there for two more nights with out heat in our RV. We believe KOA's should consider every case on its own merit. We camped at Mesa / Apache Junction KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a nice campground. Easy to find and well located to shopping. Staff was friendly and helpful. Interior roads are easy to navigate. Sites are level, gravel, wide and long. Utilities are properly located and all full hookups worked. Cell reception was great, but WIFI was terrible. Restrooms, showers and laundry were very clean and all of the washers and dryers worked.

This campground is dog friendly. Not a lot of grass, but plenty of good dog walking space and a nice dog run. Not a lot of extra activities. This is a well kept campground good for shorter stays. We camped at Mesa / Apache Junction KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed one night 2016-10-01. Arrived about 1900, late arrival. Package was at night desk. Gravel site was plenty long and level. We did not unhitch for the nite. Nice park for taking walks. Staff on telephone was friendly and professional. Like the location on the east side of Mesa, when continuing along US 62. Fry's grocery store and other stors about 1 mile NW. Any of the pull throughs were plenty long. If staying for several days, get the site with the gas grill and patio. Those looked really nice.

This was our third stay at this park - we like it because it's easy to get to and out of the hustle & bustle of the city. Nice views of the Superstition Mountains and near to groceries and gas. We noticed they are currently paving the roads which is nice - our space was level and not too close to our neighbors. Very clean park. We camped at Mesa / Apache Junction KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here for a week while attending Angels Baseball Spring training. A basic "campground" type KOA, it was clean and well maintained. The spots are very deep, but close to each other. WiFi might as well have not even been there, not worth even trying to connect. Clear sky views for satellite tv in most sites. The hook ups were a little strange, the fresh water hookup was on the opposite side of the trailer than the sewage hookup. I had to go to WalMart to purchase an additional drinking water hose to reach it, after passing the hose under my trailer and to the rear. Nice clean pool, 4-5 KOA Kabins. We camped at Mesa / Apache Junction KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This is certainly a campground, not a resort. That being said, it was fairly neat and clean. Most of the staff was exceptionally friendly, but there were A couple staff members that certainly needed some help in the customer relations department. The pool is clean and warm, and they had a hot tub too! We camped at Mesa / Apache Junction KOA in a Motorhome.

The park is a nice KOA park it has several pull troughs that are long also back ins that are angled. the roads and sites are all gravel but the sites are landscaped with desert plants between. We stay here while visiting friends that live close to the park. We find it a better for short terms to use this park over the longer stay parks in the area because the sites are easier to get into than many of the long term parks. We camped at Mesa / Apache Junction KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

The park is kept very clean with trash cans all around emptied regularly. Laundry worked well and as it is an off season was not busy. Location was good to I-60 and access to all of the Phoenix area. Some traffic noise but not a problem. Our site was level with good access to all utilities. Over the air TV was very good. We camped at Mesa / Apache Junction KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Shopping was very close with all varieties. Tourist activities like the Ghost Town were also available if that is what you wanted. The disc golf courses I played in the area were good for desert courses.

Park is clean and attractive. It has quite a few long-term/permanent campers who must think it's okay. But for us there are a few things which make it unsatisfactory. Wi-fi is awful, totally inadequate for the rate paid . Most spaces have zero shade. Pull-throughs are "face-to-face" meaning your door is facing your neighbor's door. This would be very unpleasant with a gregarious neighbor who likes to be outside all the time with his radio playing and has lots of company. (Fortunately this neighbor was on our back side. His behavior was not the park's fault, but the face-to-face site arrangement makes this something you can't get away from.) The dog walk is a 10x10 patch of dirt and gravel enclosed in a chain link fence with a trash can and scooper. No place to walk a dog in the whole park that isn't gravel and either in the road or someone's space. With all the RV parks in the area, we wouldn't stay in this one again. We camped at Mesa / Apache Junction KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

As so often with KOA the campsite needs refurbishment. Our site was spacious but not level due to lack of maintenance of raking the gravel etc. Only one restroom/shower block near the office for a very large site. Biggest complaints are the very poor wifi, no cable, very few TV channels available on antenna and no policing of the pet policy. Overpriced for these reasons. We camped at Mesa / Apache Junction KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Work campers keep this park nice and clean. There is a pool and hot tub but the pool is COLD. When we reserved and paid we were assured of good wifi at our site, however this was misrepresented. there is almost no wifi service. When inquired at the office and even hinted at the status of our future time here and the refund policy I was met with a totally different attitude than at checkin. RVing is supposed to be fun, we would never stay here again. I find this alarming for a national chain service that has always been great to us in the past.
