Very nice layout. And most sites are paved. The utilities are at the extreme rear of the sites. BUT. The water pressure is so low, as to not be usable. We had to fill our tank and use our pump. The man in the office said, it's because they are full. NOT acceptable. This answer means someone did not engineer the utilities properly when the park was built. I have stayed all over the country, at parks completely full, and had good water pressure. It is not possible to shower in your RV with the pressure here. And the WIFI is the same. Too slow to use. When I asked, I got the same answer. Park is full. STAY somewhere else. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Motorhome.

The sites are paved or gravel and were just long enough for our 42 foot 5th wheel. The area between the sites was very small, and the picnic tables are 2/3 size. The office staff stated that they did not help or answer phone calls in the 15 minutes before closing because they are always busy with other things. A train and/or a helicopter goes by every 20 minutes all night long. IF the observatory is open, it opens at exactly 7pm for 16 predesignated people only, and you must be there 30 minutes early. If you want to sign up to view, you'd better get into the office before 5:45pm or be ignored. We had four people in our party, two of which were kids, and were charged a premium for the seven year old but not the five year old. The Passport America discount is not half off. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Fifth Wheel.

Garmin GPS took us directly to the CG. Campground is just off the Benson 4th street, behind the Safeway grocery store on South Ocotillo Avenue. Front desk and staff very friendly and helpful. Credit cards accepted. No tent camping, cabins, or yurts. CG roads are asphalt in excellent condition, wide with gentle turns and no overhead obstacles. FHU-20/30/50. Short-term visitors get asphalt, pull-thru sites but "arched" making leveling tricky. Longer term visitors get gravel, back-in sites. Comfortable space between sites, gravel with token landscaping. Pedestal at rear of sites with 4" threaded sewer connection just above ground level. Picnic tables but no patios. Numerous tall trees make satellite antenna placement tricky. No fires permitted. Good water pressure with "ok" taste. No office store. Restrooms/showers look brand-new, clean and modern (score "A"). Propane sales. Laundry has smaller, front-loading machines. No playground. Cable TV has limited channels. Tengo Wi-Fi free for short-term visitors with good speed and ample bandwidth. Verizon coverage at "5-bars"; 4G coverage at "4-bars". Fitness room, pool, spa, putting green, pickleball court, ham radio room with equipment (must be licensed), and a TELESCOPE OBSERVATORY. Loud, irritating railroad whistles "constantly" but minimal traffic noise. No recycle bins. Bug Report: no notable insect issues in February. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Benson is a nice, small town, a way-point along the interstate. Local landromat out-of-business. Wal-Mart. Safeway groceries with Starbucks. No national restaurant chains. Wendys, Little Ceasers, Subway. A Verizon store. Diesel at Chevron at $2.699. One bank. No Camping World or other RV stores but numerous RV mobile repair companies; see list on CG map. Ace hardware.

Very nice park, level gravel large sites, but WiFi very spotty and lots of train whistles. Had to pay $30/mo as we were on monthly rate. Very friendly staff. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Travel Trailer.

This is a really nice clean park. The rock sites are all back-ins and they are level but the paved pull thru sites aren't level and seem really short so if you've got a long rig you may want to ask for a back in. The people in the office are really nice and there is a nice heated pool, hot tub, very nice clubhouse with everything you'd need or want, and nice laundry room with lots of washer's and dryer's. It would be nice if there were a sink in the laundry room and also a change machine. You can walk to Safeway, Ace Hardware, and a few restaurants within minutes which is really nice. You can also walk to Walmart. This is a very safe park too. The only downside are the trains! They are very loud and run 24/7 and blow their horns at all hours. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This rv park is also called an observatory. We signed up in the office for a night in the observatory. It is run by full timers who is very knowledgable of the solar system and beyond as well as how to operate the computer driven 16' telescope and observatory. We saw many different objects in the sky. Saturn, the twin stars, the moon to name a few. Well worth the stay here if you are passing through. You also cannot pass up Tombstone and Bisbee.

Another great park for Passport America. We stopped here for 1 week and ended up staying 3 weeks. Can not beat the price for what you get here. Would have gave it a 10 but there is train noise. It didn't bother us but it might some folks. Power great. Pool and hot tub. Will stay again if in the area.

Easy access to the I-10 and state hi ways: 80, 90, 182, 183. It is centrally located for many attractions. The whole town is clean & friendly. Sites offer some shade. Our site surface was asphalt and it featured a picnic table. Very nice pool & spa. Free ice. Great observatory show. Near to Tucson and Tombstone and other attractions. We went to the raceway in Tucson for 4th of July. Close to shopping in Benson and the post office. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Motorhome.

Excellant park. Clean, neat and great layout. Obvious snow bird park. It was summer so quite empty. Staff was super. Only meant to stay 2 nites to take in Tombstone and ended a week there. Not many pull throughs but staff accommodated us as I was sick. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Motorhome.

Stayed here for an overnight while passing through from West to East. We called several hours in advance and were greeted warmly on the phone and promised a site. When we arrived after the office had closed, we found an envelope on the door with our name on it, encouraging us to just pick a site and settle up in the morning. As other reviewers have mentioned, most sites are gravel and pretty level. There are a few paved sites. We put our 40' toyhauler in a back in site with no problem. Utilities were clean and worked correctly. Wifi was free, present, and pretty typical these days - slow. Site was clean and had a picnic table. When we checked out, the staff was also excellent and friendly. The only thing that didn't show up in any of the previous reviews is the train! A major train line runs through Benson and passes several blocks from the park. You can't here the trains, but you can definitely hear the train air horns as they sound for the grade crossings. Staff said 'you get used to it'. I suppose so. It wasn't a major problem for us, but if you're a light sleeper, you should be aware. We would return again if in the area. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Fifth Wheel.

A well-planned park with spacious sites, most gravel, but some pull-throughs with paving. Each site had a small tree (which in the Arizona sun was nice), along with picnic tables at the pull-thru sites. Well-maintained grounds and clean amenities, with the added bonus of a planetary observatory. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Motorhome.

Picnic tables at every site. Very nice pool & spa. Free ice. Great observatory show. I had a back in site that was plenty big enough. Near to Tucson and Tombstone and other attractions. Close to shopping. Price is deceiving: PPA can't be used during high season. I was there in April which has a daily price of $29, so you don't get a true 50% discount. They base their PPA discount off the high season rate of $38. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Fifth Wheel.

There is a Safeway Grocery Store and a large Ace Hardware just outside the gate - an easy walk. From Benson it is an easy drive to Tombstone, Bisbee and the Kartchner Caverns. The fun part is the Observatory - you have to take in the nightly show. Seating is limited so book early. Great value.
