Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

Another great park for Passport America. We stopped here for 1 week and ended up staying 3 weeks. Can not beat the price for what you get here. Would have gave it a 10 but there is train noise. It didn't bother us but it might some folks. Power great. Pool and hot tub. Will stay again if in the area.

Easy access to the I-10 and state hi ways: 80, 90, 182, 183. It is centrally located for many attractions. The whole town is clean & friendly. Sites offer some shade. Our site surface was asphalt and it featured a picnic table. Very nice pool & spa. Free ice. Great observatory show. Near to Tucson and Tombstone and other attractions. We went to the raceway in Tucson for 4th of July. Close to shopping in Benson and the post office. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Motorhome.

The observatory has a showing (weather permitting) on odd calendar days. Fantastic, even for someone not versed in astronomy. A short drive from the park will get you to historic Tombstone, Bisbee and Ft. Huachuca. We went to Colossal Caves and Tucson Motor Speedway.

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $21.00

Stayed here for an overnight while passing through from West to East. We called several hours in advance and were greeted warmly on the phone and promised a site. When we arrived after the office had closed, we found an envelope on the door with our name on it, encouraging us to just pick a site and settle up in the morning. As other reviewers have mentioned, most sites are gravel and pretty level. There are a few paved sites. We put our 40' toyhauler in a back in site with no problem. Utilities were clean and worked correctly. Wifi was free, present, and pretty typical these days - slow. Site was clean and had a picnic table. When we checked out, the staff was also excellent and friendly. The only thing that didn't show up in any of the previous reviews is the train! A major train line runs through Benson and passes several blocks from the park. You can't here the trains, but you can definitely hear the train air horns as they sound for the grade crossings. Staff said 'you get used to it'. I suppose so. It wasn't a major problem for us, but if you're a light sleeper, you should be aware. We would return again if in the area. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Fifth Wheel.

A well-planned park with spacious sites, most gravel, but some pull-throughs with paving. Each site had a small tree (which in the Arizona sun was nice), along with picnic tables at the pull-thru sites. Well-maintained grounds and clean amenities, with the added bonus of a planetary observatory.

Huachuca. Right on the AZ/Mexico border is the Coronado Nat'l. Memorial, which provided hiking as well as a great observation point.

With a pool & hot tub, the chaise lounges are very nice & clean. The water itself is clean. Lots of activities if you are here during the winter months. Easy access to the I-10 and state hi ways: 80, 90, 182, 183. It is centrally located for many attractions. The whole town is clean & friendly. We'll stay again. Sites offer some shade. Picnic tables at every site. Very nice pool & spa. Free ice. Great observatory show. I had a back in site that was plenty big enough. Near to Tucson and Tombstone and other attractions. Close to shopping. Price is deceiving: PPA can't be used during high season. I was there in April which has a daily price of $29, so you don't get a true 50% discount. They base their PPA discount off the high season rate of $38. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Fifth Wheel.

Great Park. Fair size spaces, good utilities. WiFi was OK the end of April when the park was not full. Version 4G was good. Satellite good at most sites. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Motorhome.

This is our second time here, and we Will be back. All of the roads are paved and all of the daily sites are paved and pull through. There is a nice shade tree and picnic table between each site. Yes there are train tracks nearby, but one soon doesn't even hear them. This is an excellent campground and very clean. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a Safeway Grocery Store and a large Ace Hardware just outside the gate - an easy walk. From Benson it is an easy drive to Tombstone, Bisbee and the Kartchner Caverns. The fun part is the Observatory - you have to take in the nightly show. Seating is limited so book early. Great value.

Very clean and well run park. I camped in a pull through for a motorhome. The park's restrooms and facilities were clean and more than adequate for a one night pass through stay. We have and will stay here again. One note. The pull thru site was barely long enough to accomodate 35' motorhome and attached jeep. Any longer and I would have to disconnect. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Motorhome.

Stayed 3 days while seeing Tombstone and other area attractions. Very clean, well maintained park, level sites. Pull thru and back in sites. Safeway within walking distance and Walmart 2 blocks away. There is train noise day and night but we like trains. Two nice fenced dog runs, both lighted for night use. Observatory was broken for the 4 nights we were here so did not get to see. The park is clean and staff friendly. This review is primarily to ensure other dog lovers are fully informed about this park's Dog Policy. The policy is strictly enforced by management & the long-term campers staying there. There are no exceptions even for handicap animals. Before we registered and signed the contract, we made the park aware of our handicap dog. We were told as long as we picked up after the dog immediately there would be no issues. However, we had long-term campers next to us personally confront us even though we immediately picked up after our dog. The sites at this park are rocked. We paid to stay one month. We left after 10 days even though we knew the park has a "No Refund Policy". We were offered another site but felt moving within the park would not resolve the issue. We explained to the manager there were no hard feelings but we recommended they clearly explain to campers that the dog policy is strictly enforced. Here is this park's dog policy as written in the contract when you register...."While you are in our park, please curb your pets. Walk your pets down the center of the road only. When walking to and from the pet area or other locations please keep your pet off of all other sites. Your dog should never be on another guest's site (vacant or occupied) without permission." We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Travel Trailer.

Enjoyed our stay here, met some friendly rv'ers. Many seasonal folks, a few permanent single wides, park kept very neat/ tidy.paved roads, paved sites no picnic table ( but only stayed 2 nights), spotty Internet, good cable, easy location to few restaurants, major grocery store, hardware store. The train tracks are very close, so be prepared for train horns thorough out day and night. Didn't like curbs at ends of pads, our motorhome bottomed out. Added bonus free observatory entry for evening display of night sky. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Motorhome.

Spent night on my way home to Phoenix. Great staff in office. My sister went to the observatory and thought it was great. Well presented and answered all questions and all had a chance to look thru telescope. The park itself was very clean and well maintained with about 30 pull thru spots and the balance back-in. As others have mentioned, you can hear the train at night and early morning. I kind of liked it and my sister thought it was too much. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice and well kept park with wide streets and spacious lots. Sites are gravel with some trees and level. WiFi is extra and poor. Cable is poor as well. Very friendly staff. Excellent facilities, club house, pool and hot tub. This park would rate a "10" if not for the constant train noise. Tracks are a block away and VERY busy over night and early morning. Not the parks fault, but annoying just the same. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Fifth Wheel.
