We stayed for 7 days and 5 of those days the pool was closed. The water looked foggy and they must have had problems with it. The restroom was dirty and the same dirt stains on the floor were there for 5 days. Also the trash can was over flowing so no one had cleaned in there for awhile. Just about every time we went to the office it was closed. When we came to register on arrival we had to wait about 5 minutes at the front desk as the clerk was in back and said she'd be right out. We had cable TV but not many channels. One channel went out and never came back leaving us with one less channel. This used to be a very nice resort and we looked forward to relaxing by the pool but being closed most of the time, we were not able to use it. We were not satisfied with our stay and would not stop here again. It seemed to have gone downhill. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Motorhome.Undo
Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $32.00
Loved this campground. We were only there for one night, but would definitely go back. Lots to do here and within walking distance to grocery store. Our site was level, but short. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Motorhome.Undo
Date of Stay: February, 2015 - $27.00
The sites are fairly close together, but not exceptionally close. The park is very clean. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Fifth Wheel.
Good place to visit Tombstone, Bisbee, Karchner Caverns, Ft. Huachuca and Army post.
Date of Stay: February, 2015 - $32.00
The park is in a great location and the customer service was very friendly and professional. The facilities are modern, very well kept, and clean, but the sites are poorly designed. The sites were too short, and given the location of the utilities, it was difficult to park in the site. The site was very uneven, in both directions, and it was hard to level. The most level part of the site was not convenient to the utilities. The sewer was so far away that I was unable to access it, even though I parked so it was directly adjacent to my sewer outlet (the sewer inlets are located halfway between the two sites, instead of near the other utilities. The wifi was Tengo (say no more...) and barely worked, but at least they didn't charge for it. The "free cable TV" consisted of three local channels. Cell signal was decent. I might stop at this place when the PA discount is in effect in the future, but I would not pay 32 a night to stay here again. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Travel Trailer.
Two minutes' walk to Safeway and Ace, and only a few minutes more to Walmart.
Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $30.00
Pull thrus are paved but short and many if not all have a dip at front and rear which will scrape your RV bottom. Back ins are gravel . Dogs liked gravel dog park . Wonderful nightly observatory show. Park has lots of activities for residents n short term guests . Staff is excellent. Immaculate park. Benson has basic shopping and restaurants. Stayed several days. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Motorhome.
Tombstone is fun day trip.
Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $15.00
The facility was very well kept, activities were well organized and there was a lot of variety - water aerobics, line dancing, walk exercise, zumba, "tag alongs" (i.e. fieldtrips) to nearby attractions. Ask at the desk to buy a Passport book. It costs $18.00 but gets you into area attractions for a discount or a 2fer price. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again. The observatory was a great perk! (nightly rate reflects monthly rate of $460 + elec) We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Motorhome.
Safeway with a Starbucks is within walking distance; Walmart is a short drive. Lots of good restaurants in the area. Tombstone is close by and a lot of fun!
Date of Stay: December, 2014 - $35.00
This park has nice paved roads and parking pads. The community building was nice and the restrooms very clean. My only minor complaint is that the parking pad had such a hump in that we had to borrow some blocks and board to build another step to avoid an 18" step getting in and out of our unit. Oh, there were those train whistles too; after the first dozen or so they didn't bother us and we did sleep through the noise. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Fifth Wheel.Undo
Date of Stay: November, 2014 - $38.00
This is one of the nicest parks we have ever stayed in. I would give it a 10 but there is a problem with trains. The tracks are only a block away and there are 20 or 30 trains a day (and night) going by, blowing their horns through town. It did wake us up at night several times. Other than that, this is a lovely park, well cared for and run by people who really have a commitment to their guests. There is something going on every night from pot luck dinners to quilting affairs. The park is immaculately clean. Restrooms, Showers & Laundry are spotless. Pads are level concrete with the general area being gravel. WiFi & Cable were very good. Site are long, wide and well spaced. There is an observatory on site with nightly viewings available. This park is located right behind a Safeway and you can easily walk to do shopping. We will always stay here when traveling on I-10. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Fifth Wheel.
Tombstone, AZ is 26 miles away and worth the ride.
Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $36.00
Very nice park with a couple of dings. Our site was short and big bump getting into it. We have a 42' RV. We had to park our tow car next to the RV and not behind it. This park has bad noise pollution. Very loud train whistles frequently. The train noise was so loud though I am not sure you could escape it any where in Benson. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Motorhome.Undo
Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $29.00
We spent 10 days in this delightful park. Great place to locate to explore the many places in southern Arizona. WiFi and cable worked well. Spaces are short but we were able to park our large 5th wheel. Close to a Safeway which was convenient. Staff was friendly and helpful. Pool is large for an RV Park. Lots of train noise but there is no where in town where you can't hear the trains. We would stay here again. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Fifth Wheel.Undo
Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $35.00
The park was nice, clean and well maintained. The observatory was closed for repairs. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Fifth Wheel.Undo
Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $20.00
Nice park in Benson. It's right behind a Safeway shopping center so we heard their air conditioners and truckers backing their rigs up w/deliveries all the time, especially during the night. Then there's the train. It ran regularly, day & night. The tracks are 2 blocks away. This is not a quiet park. We did our shakedown run here after we got our new RV. We had full hookups on an asphalt pad. Nice and level w/plenty of space to put out the slides and awnings. The price reflects PPA summer discount. The observatory was out of service and they couldn't tell us when it would be back up. Clean showers & laundry facilities. They have a couple of dog runs that were a nice size for our 2 Aussies to play in. We usually travel w/4 dogs but this was just a shakedown run so we left 2 of our dogs at home. However, because this park has a 3 dog limit, I don't really call that pet friendly so we won't be staying here again. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Motorhome.Undo
Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $20.00
One of the better parks in Benson. Good wide gravel back ins so you can unhook and place your tow vehicle or toad next to your rig. Roads are asphalt and pull thrus in front up by office are asphalt. Hook ups work correctly but water is located in very back of the back ins so long hose may be needed. Good spot to visit Cochise County area. If you want to take in the observatory, call ahead because when we stayed a week, telescope was down and waiting for a tech to recalibrate it. Would stay again but would make sure observatory was available. Rate was PPA summer rate. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Fifth Wheel.Undo
Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $42.00
We planned on staying for a long weekend; we chose this place for their pool and convenience on I-10. We had called ahead and checked availability. Upon our arrival (12:30 pm on a Friday) the office was closed for "lunch". Taped to the office door had been after-hour instructions for new arrivals. We settled in to an open site and since it was 100 degrees outside, we got the kids dressed for the pool. While setting up, a fellow camper comes up to us and tells us the pool will be closing in the morning for some new paint, so, enjoy it while you can. I thought this must be a mistake??? What type of manager would close a pool on a weekend for resurfacing? When the office reopened after "lunch" we asked about the pool and it was confirmed it would be closed for the weekend. We complained (along with other guests). If we knew the pool would be closed, we would have kept going to a different CG. After many complaints, the management agreed to keep the pool open until 2 pm on Saturday. Too little too late for us. We only stayed one night. Now for the positives: Park was clean and well kept; roads were wide to drive thru and around. Water and electric worked fine. Cable was snowy. WiFi was excellent. Sites are a little tight for bigger units (we could not open our awning due to trees). Observatory is only open on even dates and you must sign up in advance. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Fifth Wheel.Undo
Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $21.00
This was a return visit to this park and it was still as nice as the last time we were here. I really like the folks who run this facility. They are all top notch. Unfortunately, we were just passing through this time so we did not have time to take advantage of the uniqueness of this park. All sites are well maintained and there is easy access for a 40 ft motorhome. We did not inspect the bathrooms or laundry since we did not need them. But, given the condition of the park I would believe that they too are top notch. (Do schedule a visit to their observatory if it is open when you are here. It is a very unique experience.) We consider this one of our "must stop" places when we are in the area. The rate reflects a one night Passport America summer rate.
