This is a nice campground, very clean and well-kept with enough space between sites so that it has a good spacious feel. There are small trees, but the sites are open with no shade. Most of the sites do not appear to be level and I think most will require some blocking. Many tilt toward the road so that the front of your rig in back in sites (which most are) will be lower than the back unless you block it. The restrooms are bright, clean,. and modern. I did not use the shower, but my husband said it was one of the best ones he has ever used and we've been full-timers for two years. There is free wi-fi at the visitors center and supposedly at the campground but it didn't work at our site. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the Visitor's Center and the start of the cave tours if you do not want to move your rig. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again and probably will so that we can take the second tour they offer. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Truck Camper.

Tips for other Campers:

The cavern is beautiful and unspoiled since it was discovered much later than most and was preserved by the state park system. We took the Big Room tour and it was stunning and informative. My only complaint is that I think it's a bit overpriced since it's more than twice as much as Carlsbad Caverns. But if you love caverns I think it's still worth the price. We will be back again eventually to take the Throne Room/Rotunda tour.

Beautiful state park adjoining the tourist attraction. RV park and site was fine; check-in, however, was a nightmare! One poor ranger handling rv check in and scheduling cave tours. Not her fault, but it took nearly an hour to get checked in! Thankfully, after the craziness at the Discovery Center where check-in takes place, the park is lovely and quiet! We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Sierra Vista, about 30 miles away, is a wonderful small town with every type of shopping/amenity you might need. There is an RV dealership, RV City, in nearby Whetstone with a service department and decent selection of parts.

Clean, well-maintained State Park. Good, paved interior roads; mostly level, paved sites, with plenty of room in between. A really cool cave is located here, and also a nice Visitor Center and Gift Shop. There are trails and paths where I enjoyed walking my dogs. No TV reception. We would stay here again. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I like Arizona's state parks. Having stayed in three, now, I want to try several more. Kartchner caverns park HAS wifi. It's faster than many RV parks in which I've stayed. Caverns, are amazing and the park is close to Tombstone and Bisbee. As stated by others, many of the sites are not level making set up harder than it should be. Park hosts helpful and attentive. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We really enjoyed our stay at this park and were treated to a white Christmas. I'm giving it a 9 because some of the sites do have a front-to-back slope problem. We were in site 1 with a 32ft travel trailer, and the front hitch had to be lowered to about 10" above the ground to be level. I can see this being a problem in motorhomes. Site 1 also has several cabins that kind of ruin the view on the passenger side. The other oddity was that the back-in sites had fire pits but the pull-thrus did not.

The hosts and grounds crew were friendly and busy little bees.

We had a good Verizon signal. TV, however, consisted of a few Spanish-speaking channels and one analog NBC station.

The caverns themselves were interesting in their uniqueness, but not as impressive as others we've seen. I do definitely recommend doing a tour, though.

Propane and the Walmart in Benson are only about 20 minutes away. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Another great Arizona state park. It is somewhat remote, but that's a plus if you enjoy beautiful desert scenery, stargazing, hiking and simple relaxation. Easy access from I-10, nice site separation, spotless restrooms, excellent wifi and friendly camp hosts. When we arrived the camp hosts came over to introduce themselves and brought us maps and pamphlets with lots of information about the area. Wonderful service! Highly recommend tour of the caverns in the park. They have some very unusual formations...cave bacon, cave "turnips", and large columns. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Highly recommend a trip to Chiricahua National Monument. It's 80 miles from Kartchner Caverns, but was worth the drive. Very unique and amazing rock formations. Tombstone was also a fun afternoon visit. The town "sheriff" (visitor's center volunteer) retold the story of Wyatt Earp and the famous gunfight at the O.K. Corral.

We will always opt for a State Park anywhere we go, so we have seen many along the way. This one is a great park. With mountains visible all around, the sunsets were breathtaking. Now this is desert land, so don't expect high trees for shade. The native plants are mostly cactus of one kind or another - and some do give shade, just not much. The sites are generously spaced from one another with give plenty of length for long rigs and trucks to park. They offer 30 and 50 amp electricity and water; no sewer at the site. Picnic table was set into the grass/weeds. No patio or shelter. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The park has a very nice museum telling the history of the cave and some of the findings inside the cave. The offer cave tours for a fee, but we did not tour. There is a small cafe and gift shop on site. There is also a very nice cactus garden walk. If you are a hiker, there are several trails, but they come with a warning to watch for rattlesnakes.

Beautiful gem of a park! We pretty much had the place to ourselves, only 2-3 other campers. We made a quick overnight stop on our way through in order to visit the caverns. Trail from the campground to the visitor's center is a paved and short walk. Site was slightly unlevel but an easy fix. Park was easy to navigate through. No campfires allowed except at a community fire pit. Park was quiet, except for some loud cows in the ranch next door. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We absolutely loved it here. We stayed a bit off-season, but the weather was gorgeous - not too hot during the day, and perfect in the evening. Plus, we nearly had the park to ourselves.

The views are spectacular, and the hosts very gracious. We really enjoyed the spotless showers while here, since there are no sewer hookups.

There is basically no cell service here (for AT&T at least), but there is WiFi throughout the park, and it is really fast. We couldn't make calls while here, but easily sent texts, planned activities, and stayed in touch, thanks to the WiFi.

Our site (44) was quite sloped towards the front, but we were able to make it work with our jack extension. Those without a jack extension or with rigs longer than 30 feet might be best choose another site. To be fair, we were warned by the hosts about this site, but we fell in love with the view and the afternoon shade.

Overall, we were extremely pleased, and cannot wait to return! We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Paved, some pull-thru, spacious lots. Some sites take a bit of maneuvering to level and keep tires on ground. $$ more than most, staff confused -- or micromanaged, and slope of asphalt makes this an 8. Dump area is small if there were a crowd. Easy access to cave & discovery center..must do cave-- worth it, but choose shoulder season (Nov, Dec, May) and make reservations ahead! A very nice smaller, pretty AZ state park. Plenty of sites can handle big rigs, but the problem is most sites are not close to being level. Walking through the park, many units had front tires off the ground, or many blocks underneath. We stayed in sites 1 and 11, neither of which we could get level on. Another ding is the very poor water pressure. Sites 11&12 are ex ranger sites and have full hookups for an extra $5/night. We were disappointed in the cavern tour...expensive, rushed, and our guide was a bit of a dud. Some decent to great hiking trails nearby in the national forest with great views. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Motorhome.

Another nice AZ state park with plenty of room for the big rigs. Good connectivity with Verizon, using a booster. Marginal without the booster.
Great place to stay to explore the Caverns, nearby Tombstone and other points of interest in the area. Preferred the outside, back in sites to the pull thrus, more privacy, larger sites. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This was the quietest campground we have ever stayed in. Fantastic long, sites that are paved and completely level. Nice separation between sites. Exceptionally clean, neat, and well managed.
