This is our third visit to Kartchner Caverns and have always enjoyed the park. Hosts have been very friendly and helpful. On a clear night, the sky bursts with stars. We would have rated a 10, but the State decided to replace all bbq's with fire pits so I needed to use propane grill instead. Look forward to our next visit. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Motorhome.

This is one well-kept, enjoyable camp ground. While all the sites look pretty much the same -- gravel pads, picnic table, fire ring, prickly pear cactus, a sprinkling of mesquite trees and, if you're on an outside site, foot high golden grasses -- that's a good thing. What's even nicer is the recent addition of wifi internet service. Toyota helps pay for the service, and campers have to watch a Toyota commercial online before connecting, but at least the ad is somewhat humorous. While I hate to see corporations interfering with public entities, I realize that's where we're at these days. There's a good mix of back-in and pull-through sites. The bathrooms are clean and modern, with free showers. There's a recycling and trash set-up. There are two camp hosts for the loop that I stayed in. The campground is far enough away from Hwy 90 that you rarely hear traffic noise. The scenery is great: the Whetstone Mtns. to the west and the Dragoon Mtns. to the east. The city of Benson is about 10 miles north and pretty much has everything you'll need. I noticed at least a half-dozen RV parks in and around Benson and on Hwys. 80 and 82, so if this is the region you want, and Kartchner is full, there are plenty of other options. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Tours of the caverns of Kartchner Caverns start at the Discovery (visitor's) Center daily and cost $23 although you'd never know any of that from the brochure you're given when you enter the park. There are hiking trails in the park. Good birding opportunities surround the park, including the Paton Center for Hummingbirds in Patagonia (45 minutes). See the Tucson Audubon Society web site for more birding locations.

Paved roads, large paved sites with natural desert and short trees between. 30 amps and water at sites and one dump station. Well laid out with plenty of room between sites and wide roads. Pull thru and back in sites for large and small rigs. Table and fire rig at each site. Clean and nice restrooms and showers. Walk to caverns visitor center for cavern tours. Good satellite but lousy OTA TV. Good Verizon cell and 4G service. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful RV park. Somewhat level asphalt spots with cement patios. Very well maintained. As soon as an RV leaves, someone comes around and cleans the site for the next rig. Spots are spacious and the trees are trimmed so that there is a lot of privacy. Roads are wide and easy to navigate for big rigs. Very good WIFI. Water & electric/50 amp in our site; don't know if all are 50 amp. Have both pull-thru and back-ins. Only downside is no sewer at the sites. There is a dump station though. EZ walking distance to the amazing caverns. Highly recommend this RV park. Would definitely stay here again if are in this area! We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Kartchner Caverns are an easy walk from the RV park. The Caverns are a MUST SEE...just amazing! Tombstone is not far. Fairbank Ghost Town is near. There is a Super Walmart and Safeway in Benson - close to park.

State Park with great amenities. Wifi didn't work at our site but did across the road for our friends. Beautiful park with some grass and trees (unusual in Arizona!) We walked to the Discovery Center and took both Cavern tours. These were some of our favorite caves ever! Very knowledgeable Park Rangers. Would definitely stay here again and tour the caverns when we're in the area! We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our second time staying at the RV park as we visit the caverns. Sites are not all level, but are usable. The pull through sites are just asphalt with a table. Water pressure was a bit low when we were there. Very quiet at night. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful campground. We stayed 3 nights to explore the caverns, the historic town of Tombstone and other interesting locations. The campground sets at an elevation of about 4500 feet and was a perfect temperature during our visit. The desert surroundings are great. The sites are very spacious and in great condition. The only downside was no sewers, but the dump station was more than adequate and very convenient. Definitely plan on returning. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a nice campground, very clean and well-kept with enough space between sites so that it has a good spacious feel. There are small trees, but the sites are open with no shade. Most of the sites do not appear to be level and I think most will require some blocking. Many tilt toward the road so that the front of your rig in back in sites (which most are) will be lower than the back unless you block it. The restrooms are bright, clean,. and modern. I did not use the shower, but my husband said it was one of the best ones he has ever used and we've been full-timers for two years. There is free wi-fi at the visitors center and supposedly at the campground but it didn't work at our site. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the Visitor's Center and the start of the cave tours if you do not want to move your rig. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again and probably will so that we can take the second tour they offer. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Truck Camper.

Tips for other Campers:

The cavern is beautiful and unspoiled since it was discovered much later than most and was preserved by the state park system. We took the Big Room tour and it was stunning and informative. My only complaint is that I think it's a bit overpriced since it's more than twice as much as Carlsbad Caverns. But if you love caverns I think it's still worth the price. We will be back again eventually to take the Throne Room/Rotunda tour.

The posted rate did not include the $5 reservation fee. This is really nice State Park located about 9 miles south of I-10 on a very good highway 90. We spent two nights here primarily to tour the caverns. The camp host advised that our site, 45, is the most unlevel in the park, and we certainly agreed. We did block the front wheels to approximate near level for the motorhome. We reviewed most of the other sites and think that most would not present any unusual challenge to level your RV. The park roads and sites are all paved ashphalt. This is a very busy park so recommend reservations as soon as you know you would like to stop here. The park was full both nights of our stay, but the sites are spread out enough that the park never felt busy. Verizon and AT&T workable, satellite access decent from most of the sites. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Motorhome.

This is in a scenic location, and the park is attractive. The landscaping and architecture of the Discovery Center is appealing. Our only complaint is there are not enough bathroom/shower facilities for the number of people who want to use them. The campground is full of small mesquite trees. It's a pleasant place to stay. Many of the sites in the west loop slant. Site 51 in the east loop is level. There is a huge amount of space between the patio area and the next site over (50). There is a trail next to site 51 going to the Discovery Center, but this trail is not right on top of the patio area. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit the cave if you've never done so. It's a natural cave, and the tour is interesting. Tombstone is only a half hour drive. It's touristy yet they have high quality shops and a historic sense. It's a fascinating place to see.

Beautiful state park adjoining the tourist attraction. RV park and site was fine; check-in, however, was a nightmare! One poor ranger handling rv check in and scheduling cave tours. Not her fault, but it took nearly an hour to get checked in! Thankfully, after the craziness at the Discovery Center where check-in takes place, the park is lovely and quiet! We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Clean, well-maintained State Park. Good, paved interior roads; mostly level, paved sites, with plenty of room in between. A really cool cave is located here, and also a nice Visitor Center and Gift Shop. There are trails and paths where I enjoyed walking my dogs. No TV reception. We would stay here again. I like Arizona's state parks. Having stayed in three, now, I want to try several more. Kartchner caverns park HAS wifi. It's faster than many RV parks in which I've stayed. Caverns, are amazing and the park is close to Tombstone and Bisbee. As stated by others, many of the sites are not level making set up harder than it should be. Park hosts helpful and attentive. We really enjoyed our stay at this park and were treated to a white Christmas. I'm giving it a 9 because some of the sites do have a front-to-back slope problem. We were in site 1 with a 32ft travel trailer, and the front hitch had to be lowered to about 10" above the ground to be level. I can see this being a problem in motorhomes. Site 1 also has several cabins that kind of ruin the view on the passenger side. The other oddity was that the back-in sites had fire pits but the pull-thrus did not.

The hosts and grounds crew were friendly and busy little bees.

We had a good Verizon signal. TV, however, consisted of a few Spanish-speaking channels and one analog NBC station.

The caverns themselves were interesting in their uniqueness, but not as impressive as others we've seen. I do definitely recommend doing a tour, though.

Propane and the Walmart in Benson are only about 20 minutes away. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Another great Arizona state park. It is somewhat remote, but that's a plus if you enjoy beautiful desert scenery, stargazing, hiking and simple relaxation. Easy access from I-10, nice site separation, spotless restrooms, excellent wifi and friendly camp hosts. When we arrived the camp hosts came over to introduce themselves and brought us maps and pamphlets with lots of information about the area. Wonderful service! Highly recommend tour of the caverns in the park. They have some very unusual formations...cave bacon, cave "turnips", and large columns. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Highly recommend a trip to Chiricahua National Monument. It's 80 miles from Kartchner Caverns, but was worth the drive. Very unique and amazing rock formations. Tombstone was also a fun afternoon visit. The town "sheriff" (visitor's center volunteer) retold the story of Wyatt Earp and the famous gunfight at the O.K. Corral.
