For the past seven years I have regarded this Escapee RV Park, as my second home, and I have always provided favorable reviews. This will be my first negative review of SKP Saguaro. I suppose the rate increase, again, has shed some light on my regards for the place. SKP Saguaro has been offering first time visitors a great bargain price to stay for a week. Apparently that price is made up by increasing the price, daily, weekly, and monthly upon returning renters. The daily price is nearly equal, now, to Arizona State Park rates. As with all lease holder parks the residents change, and so do the lots. Fewer leaseholders make their sites available when they are gone. The newer leaseholders seem bent on destroying the landscaping of sites previous leaseholders spent a lifetime developing. The overall attractiveness of the park has decreased as a result. The newer leaseholders are adding more lights to block out the stars. I must add, the Wifi beyond the clubhouse is terrible. Oh well, things change, and I'm glad I was able to enjoy this place before the new crowd disrupted the beauty. Overall this is still a great place to stay because SKP Saguaro has always been light years ahead of other RV Parks in Southeast Arizona. I'll probably be back during the offseason, but I'll never fork out the funds for the daily rate, again. Price reflects the weekly price before the rate increase. We camped at Saguaro Co-op Park - Escapees Park (members only) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Rate reflects weekly for SKP member rate. Very nice park, terraced, but easy to walk around. Electric is steady, water pressure was low at 35-40 PSI but adequate. Park is very clean and there is a paid staff who is very present. Member volunteers park you, explain rules and requirement (no sewer hoses on ground, need slinky etc). They also have volunteers who will take you on a golf cart tour of the park, showing you their facilities. They have a nice washer house, $1.00 wash and dry and a woodworking shop. Standard Escapee park, honor system refrigerator for snacks and ice cream in the clubhouse. Very nice clubhouse, good library and video selection. People were friendly. Most dogs on leash, except one who seems to be exempt from that rule. They have several very nice 'meditation" areas to relax and enjoy the desert views. Plenty to see and do in the Benson area. You don't have to be an Escapee to stay there, however, the rates are higher. We would stay here again. We camped at Saguaro Co-op Park - Escapees Park (members only) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Nice historical museum in Benson, visit Bisbee, great mining museum, Lavender Pit MIne, Queen's Mine. Also Cochise Stronghold is nearby, worth a visit. They allow dogs in the Walmart here, if you find that distasteful as we did, there is a very nice Safeway. The Mexican restaurant Magaly's was very good.

This park has become an annual stop for us. The people are so welcoming and fun and the activities make this one of my favorite parks. Clean, inexpensive laundry, daily activities and nice neighbors for $16 a day (full hookup including cable TV and WiFi) make this a no-brainer. Mi Casa in town is the best Mexican food in AZ. It's only open Monday through Friday, 11am-7pm, so plan your visit accordingly. Safeway and Walmart are close by. We finally visited Kartchner Caverns and really enjoyed the tour. Amazing birding sites less than hour south of the park.

Very nice SKP park. Most sites are held be leaseholders who can make many nice improvements on their sites. Ours had a concrete pad to park on and bricked patio. Everyone was very friendly. We took advantage of the $50/week as first-timers here. Very nice laundry, only $1/wash and .75/dry. All utilities worked well, including the free WIFI. Cable available at sites too. Someone led us to our site and helped us park. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Saguaro Co-op Park - Escapees Park (members only) in a Fifth Wheel.

A very nice park kept in great shape. Lots of folks, but also lots of space. Stayed a week (Escapees special - $50 for 7 days). Many activities all week long for those so inclined - we preferred to explore the area. Most of the folks we met were long-termers and friendly. We had a very large site - able to park the 41' MH plus the 24' trailer plus the Jeep with lots of wandering room leftover. Spend some time in Tombstone...its a kick! Mi Case has awesome food, even the "take-out" Taco Salad we had looked like a garden. Sonoran food and a little different than a Taco Salad as we know it, but delicious.

Overall Rating:

We stayed on two different occasions in March. On our first stay we dry camped for $5/night for two nights until we could move to a full-hook up site (which cost $20/night plus electricity) where we stayed for three more nights. On our second visit we just stayed overnight in the dry-camp area. Whichever way you go you'll get great value and a very pleasant stay. The dry-camp area is close to the office and restrooms/showers. You may have to walk or drive a short distance to access the clubhouse and laundry as this is a large park. Full hook-up sites may be anywhere in the park and their availability depends on whether or not the lease-holder of any particular site is using it at the moment. We were placed in a site quite near the clubhouse which made getting an internet connection pretty easy. I do wish WiFi was more readily available throughout the park. This park has anything an RVer might want or need - a nice clubhouse, many planned activities, a clean spacious laundry, an extensive book and DVD library, a workshop where one can borrow tools, propane sold twice a week, a dump station and air and water fill. The residents are extremely friendly and justifiably proud of their park. Everything is neat as a pin and well maintained. We enjoyed looking at all the different "casitas" that leaseholders have erected on their lots - some plain and simple and others quite elaborate. I only have two small complaints. One is that the restrooms/showers available for people dry camping are rather dated, small and in need of some updating. They were always clean however. Secondly, in the hot desert climate, it would be really great to have a pool! We camped at Saguaro Co-op Park - Escapees Park (members only) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

It's an easy day trip to Tombstone and Bisbee. Bisbee is especially fun and artsy. Tombstone is more touristy, but worth a visit if you've never been there before. You must be an Escapees member to stay at this park, but it's a great organization with many benefits for the RV traveler.

Arrived at the end of January to take advantage of the $50 a week plus electricity special. They do not take reservations, so we had to dry camp 1 night until a spot opened for us. We were escorted to the site and helped to park. There are many activities and we have participated in most. The folks who live here are all friendly, welcoming, and justly proud of their park. The wifi worked great from our site. We are very pleased with the park and would stay here any time we are in the area. We camped at Saguaro Co-op Park - Escapees Park (members only) in a Motorhome.

The nicest campground inhabitants ever! Arrived on Monday, they were having a dinner that evening, $8 chicken dinner w/dessert very good qnd everyone super nice. Lots of books and dvds to borrow, many activities, very spacious lots, hiking/atv trails. Only issue was wifi didnt work at camper (rately does at any park so far) and train is whistle happy, but we were on front row may not be as bad deeper in park. Have to take chances and show up for site dont take reservations, we got spot. There are a plethora of campgrounds near here so would definately take chances and try this 1 first. Awesome price, awesome enviroment and awesome people! Join escapee for $40 and you can stay more weeks for just $100 (plus elec-$7 for our wk) We camped at Saguaro Co-op Park - Escapees Park (members only) in a Motorhome.

Grocery very close. Chirichua natl monument was awesome. Queen mine tour was cool. Tombstone was ok, not much there to do. Just shops, restaurants, and 1 museum (courthouse) eh? And birdcage saloon was neat. Amerind was interesting. Mount Lemmon is lil over hr away near Tucson, very pretty drive up the mountain! Small gift shop and ski resort up there.

We used a coupon to stay for a week for $50, and then paid $20/night for 3 additional nights and $45 for electric. As is customary at Escapee parks and co-ops, this one is very friendly. We were there over Christmas, and although they had Christmas dinner all planned ahead of time, they had specifically saved 4 seats at each of the tables (I think there were 8 or 10 "groups" of 20) for those who were guests in the park. We expected to be welcomed warmly, and we were not disappointed. The sites are available from leaseholders in the park, so each site is unique. The site we had (214) was essentially an empty lot which was great for us. Because of the weight of our rig (52K), they specifically put us on a gravel site rather than a site with a concrete pad or pavers. We camped at Saguaro Co-op Park - Escapees Park (members only) in a Motorhome.

The rate is the daily rate. Electric costs us $3 more. The park is beautiful and very well kept. Check-in was painless. They do give you several sheets of paper, including detailed rules and regulations. As with all Escapee parks there is a 4 pm social hour; everyone was quite pleasant. The sites are huge. Some have the owner's storage shed/casita on the site, ours did not. The park is very quiet as it is a ways off of the road. We stayed for one night, but it would be very easy to stay a week or even longer. We camped at Saguaro Co-op Park - Escapees Park (members only) in a Motorhome.

This Escapee park is very well kept and managed. The facilities and camping site were very nice and everyone was friendly. The sites are good sized and most have a small building the owner constructed. Our site was graveled as were most we saw and level. They have someone guide you to your site and show you the hookups. The laundry facilities were good with only a couple of machines out of service.

We got the special rate for first visit of only $50.00 per week plus electric, which is hard to beat. We would stay here again if we are back through this area. We camped at Saguaro Co-op Park - Escapees Park (members only) in a Travel Trailer.

While the park appears to be a nice, well kept place, as overnighters we did not have the chance to experience it.

They do not except reservation. You can not call to determine availability. So you have to drive out to the park to find that all they offer is dry camping. Nice people, lousy way of doing business for travelers. Enough to make us re-evaluate the value of our continued membership in the club. Rate reflects monthly stay plus electric. Our park of choice when visiting the area, Saguaro SKP Park, with minor exceptions, has everything for an enjoyable, reasonable stay. Travelers are able to rent the sites of absent leaseholders, so lots, which are all large, may vary from landscaping and pad to gravel only. Best suited for self-contained rigs since the only showers are at the office. The clubhouse offers weekly meals, a fully equipped exercise room, library, and large DVD library. Activities are extensive and visitors are welcome to participate. No WiFi except at the clubhouse, but a pay service is in the works. No pool, but it stays cool here in the winter. Verizon cell and data were strong, the cable is fuzzy, but there are no obstructions to a satellite. Convenient to town, Tucson, and Sierra Vista, with friendly residents and a welcoming atmosphere. This is a very well maintained park with a very friendly & helpful staff. The lots in this park are all leased to individuals. The lots are available for rent when the leaseholders are away from the park. All the lots are very spacious (at least double the size of a normal RV site) & level. Most of the lots have improvements such as casitas, patios, & landscaping. All lots are gravel covered & have full hookups including 30/50 amp service & cable TV. All streets are wide & paved. Most sites are back-in. There are a few pull-thru dry camp sites available. Utilities are conveniently located on the lots. Free wifi is available at the clubhouse. You can purchase wifi access for $3.00 a day or $12.00 a week that worked reasonably well for us. The clubhouse is located in the center of the park. It is a very nice facility that contains a billiard room with 3 tables, an activity room, an exercise room, & the laundry. Everyone is invited to participate in the many scheduled activities. The park also has propane available on Monday & Thursday from 9 am to 10 am. The price was less than the price in Benson. There is also a convenience station with air & water located near the facilities building. First time visitors who are not Escapee members may stay for 1 week only at the Escapee rate of $20.00 a day or $110.00 a week + electric. Our electric averaged just over $2.00 a day. We were only going to stay 1 week, but ended up staying 3 weeks. We will definitely return when in this area again. We camped at Saguaro Co-op Park - Escapees Park (members only) in a Fifth Wheel.
