This is a nice campground, but it has some problems. The sites are unlevel. We needed to put blocks under our front wheels, and noticed that most of the other RVs have blocks or wood under theirs. The laundry is very strange. You need to go to the office and get a card (similar to a credit card). You have them load as much money on it as you think you'll need. Then you insert that into a slot on the washer or dryer. There is no compartment for your detergent. You have to put it directly on the clothes. There are 5 washers ($1.75) and 7 dryers ($1.75). Two of the washers and two of the dryers are for light loads only. There were no activities except for a pot luck on Thanksgiving, and they didn't post any notices about that. The only way I found out about it was when I went to the front desk to load money onto the card for the laundry. In the corner of the desk there was a sign-up sheet. I asked about it, and was told "Oh, yeah. We're going to have Thanksgiving dinner here in the activities room." We're not really happy with this park. Before we stay here again, we'll check to see if there is a nicer one near here. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We loved Out of Africa Wildlife Park. We expected to spend a couple of hours there and ended up spending the whole day. Note: Don't waste your money on the Expedition Passport. There's a bus you can take that does the same thing for free.

This park is very well maintained and clean. The sites are a bit cramped for big rigs and the wi-fi is spotty. Unfortunately we got placed near the entrance of the park, so it was a bit noisy in the mornings as other we're leaving. Also we were placed right next to the propane filling station and it smelled gassy. Love the shuttle bus to the casino across the highway. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

While this park calls itself a 10/10/10 park, it is difficult to give it more than an "8" for a couple of reasons. In the two weeks we were here, the park never had hot water for showers or laundry. They kept saying it was to be fixed but it was not. The WIFI in this park is spotty at best and unfortunately while we were here they had their fiber optic line cut. We were without WiFi for two days at the RV and had to go to the office to use. When it was restored, many times it was frustratingly slow. The cable TV quality could be improved since many channels were snowy. The sites are very nice with concrete in abundance and good access roads, however the shrubs got in the way of our slides which was problematic. The gravel in between sites was well kept but somewhat messy. We reserved our space 6 months in advance and asked for a long pull thru for a 42 foot 5th wheel and 20 foot truck, yet had a space that could not fit both.
Had to park the truck across the street from RV. The fitness room here was nice as was the pool, especially with abnormally high temps during the stay. The laundry room is large and well lit. The common room was well kept and decorated nicely. The free use of ample DVD's was a nice touch, but the reading library choices were nothing to write home about. The help at the front desk was very cordial, but they could have been more helpful with WiFi issues. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Sedona is 24 miles away and well worth visiting for excellent hiking, shopping, eating and sight-seeing. The nearby Cliffs Casino is a major disappointment and smells from smoke inside. Nearby Cottonwood (16 miles) is a nice town with all the services one would need (i.e. WalMart, auto dealers, shopping, etc). The town of Camp Verde (5 miles) has grocery stores, post office for stores.

Our RV club spent 10 days at Distant Drums RV Park. This park exceeded my expectations in all areas. Site Cleanliness, Excellent WiFi, trash bag pickup at the site throughout the day, pleasant clerks in the office, free morning coffee, a prepared breakfast on Saturday (donation accepted) and beautiful views. Our Club had access to their club room for group dining which had a well equipped kitchen and 3 BBQ's on the patio adjacent to the club room. This RV Park/Resort is owned and operated by the local Native American tribe. They do an excellent job. We will return in the future as their are many places to visit within 30 miles of this resort, the city of Sedona being one of them. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We have stayed here multiple times and it only gets better. The staff are very friendly and helpful especially the crew that escorts you to your site. The roads are paved and the sites are concrete with a concrete patio area and gravel between sites. There are small trees and ground cover vegetation and areas of grass around park. The gravel is raked after checkout. The casino shuttle is very convenient. Good Sam has rated this park as one of the 12 most scenic in the country. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice park. Easy access, close to many attractions and casino. We've been there twice and will return again. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Out of Africa is great. Jerome or Sedona are great for shopping. Check out Nic's or the Tavern in old town Cottonwood for dining

Site was all gravel and fairly wide, but not level. All sites are not concrete pads as previously stated nor do all sites have picnic tables. The couple next to me said some sites are off more than 6 inches. Park is neat and clean. Free wifi ranged from slow to useless, more than a minute to load a web page! It took 4 attempts and 5 minutes to do this review. As previously stated you need a card to do laundry, I went up to laundry at 6:30am when I discovered this as there is no mention of the card when you check in or in their literature. So I went into town and did laundry rather than wait 1 1/2 hours for office to open. Also the park laundry is only open a few hours a day. Customer service was good. For me this would, at best, only be a overnight stop if I come back, but with the other park nearby being cheaper I'd probably go there. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

First of all, I used to give this RV park a very high 9 and lots of compliments; we have stayed there many times as it is, amongst other things, a perfect place for first and last nights out when going that way. And it continues to be extremely well kept up on the grounds. But lots of issues going on with our stay there now – water heaters out for bathrooms (which we do not use anyhow) and laundry. Some washers and dryers not working. A very sassy woman at the desk who I and others had issue(s) with. Very, very disappointed and, before deciding not to go back I thought and email to the Manager – it was her first day there the day we were leaving and I did not want to “dump” on her as a welcoming present. I got a wonderful email back from her and compensation for a future visit. She said the new water heaters are in, the washers and dryers fixed and they threw a thank you party for the guests for their appreciation of bearing with them. And, “Sassy” was let go within a few days after this new manager took over. She implied more positive changes to come. And I believe her. It think back to my marketing days of something we always said, “It is not how the cart got off the path, it is how it gets back on and moving the right direction.” Time will tell, of course, but I feel confident Distant Drums will soon be back to the wonderful place it was. Yes, we will go back (and would have even without the compensation; just based on her cordial and specific email). My rating is toned down because of the experience but feel confident it will be back up there with plaudits after our next visit. For the record, the laundry is open from 6am until 10pm and every site we have ever seen is level. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

So much to do in the area - Sedona for the red rocks and hiking, Montezuma Castle, Montezuma Well, Grand Falls up by Flagstaff, Indian ruins, etc.

Rate reflects Good Sam discount. Site was 50 amp full hook up, pull through site. There were two or three rallies going on in the park, so we got one of the last spots available for one night on our way to Yuma. Our site was too short to park our truck, but there was a parking spot across the road. Road are paved and sites have concrete pads. Very well maintained and landscaped park, but being as full as it was, it felt very tight and cramped. Sites are pretty tight, especially when full of large RVs. We were escorted to our site which was a good thing as we had to weave around to get to our spot. Upon leaving we had to have office come and tell people to move their cars from the road so we could get out. Nice pool and hot tub, laundry and showers. It was a bit overpriced in our opinion. We would much rather stay at another nearby park, but they were booked for the night. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Previous posts pretty well describe this resort accurately. Everything worked well except that when I went to take a shower, there was no hot water. But for the price, I expect everything to be perfect. Also I think the sites are too close together. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a very clean park. All sites are concrete pads with patio, picnic table and some nice landscaping. Roads are asphalt. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The only negative thing I can say is that the wifi was not very strong; neither was our Verizon mi-fi, so might reflect the area rather than the park. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very convenient to see the National Monuments Montezuma Castle, Montezuma Well and Tuzigoot. Jerome is an interesting old mining town; Cottonwood has on Old Town that has some good restaurants and nice shops.

This park is beautiful and some of the sites have a great view of the mountains and the valley below. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. The rate posted is based on the monthly rate which includes electric and trash picked up at your site. The grocery store in Camp Verde is a very nice Bashas. The Casino is just across the interstate and Cottonwood is only about 30 minutes away if you need to do other shopping such as Walmart. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Lot's of site seeing options including Jerome.

Although it's near a freeway, this RV park is one of the best in Camp Verde. The facilities are all top notch, the swimming pool and jacuzzi relaxes one's muscles after a long day on the road. Every spot has a concrete pad and full hook-ups! The park is super clean and well-maintained. We even received a complimentary LED flashlight and a nice big map of Sedona and all the attractions! Both Wi-Fi and cable TV were also free! This is what a top-tier RV park should be! They are all about pleasing customers! We love this place and vowed to visit again in the future. As others said, clean and well maintained. Friendly, helpful staff. The PRIVATE bathrooms are wonderful. Large dog run. They have activities frequently including karaoke, BBQ, pancake breakfasts, 4th of July and Halloween parties among others. Nice exercise room. Laundry could use some new machines. Wifi has been upgraded and is very good. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.
