This RV Park is very clean, minimum grass due to the region but clean, paved roads, decomposed granite or cement pads, cement patios, some trees. Our spot was one of few with 3 large pines for great shade. Nice clean pool, clean office with small store. The park provided a 4th of July burger and dogs meal. Some highway noise, easy on and off from I-17. I would stay here again. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The "resort" is okay. Not much privacy, though.

When I was checking in, a woman in her late 50s / early 60s was very unfriendly. She may want to find a different job that does not involve customer service or working with the public.

Pool was nice.

WiFi is HORRIBLE! My Yahoo mail account would not even load on my computer.

So, mixed reviews. Somethings were okay and somethings were not. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We stayed in our 45' rv for 3 nights. Nice concrete pads and room for our tow. Staff was very nice. Shower facility was private and very clean. Near the freeway but did not hear any noise. A couple of planes took off nearby, but only a couple in 3 days. 25 minute drive to Sedona. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We use Distant Drums a lot as it is a perfect distance for us for first or last night out. Sometimes we use it for going to Sedona for a few days. They had had some issues a while back and they have addressed them and are working on others. But our stay was great and the staff super. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Outstanding park. They had everything I needed and then some. A little highway noise but the wind was louder than the trucks which was no problem. It is very convenient to the local attractions and close enough for a easy trip to Sedona. It is a very clean park and was spotless for the 3 days we were there. I would not hesitate to stay here again. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We have a 19' Scamp 5th wheel and they helped back the thing into a tight space. We have a Ford F150 with 8' bed super cab. Lots of concrete and blacktop was nice if you had a big RV as most there were drive units and a few fancy 5th wheels. I never seen the pool. Horseshoe pits were nice and was well used by all as the shoes stayed there all the time. WiFi never worked at all. I found it on my kindle and it never worked. My laptop never seen it. Price was okay. AC worked fine with the 30 amp site and it had a dump station at the site, water and electric was there as well. It is right off the interstate past Camp Verde and the same exit as the Indian casino. Never seen the shade people talk about. We walked the entire place and followed the paths and never seen anything worth while. We had hot water for showers and the locks worked on the restrooms and showers. Laundry room was large. Nothing for small children was our issue for our 5 year old grandson. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Sedona is close as Dead horse Park was full as were several others. Cottonwood had a big little league tournament going on so that did not help and there was other things going on there as well. If all you need is a place to stay this was okay. We were on the back road next to the drop off and next to the horseshoe pits which were small however it worked for us.

Great park, excellent amenities, nice location for Camp Verde, Sedona, Cottonwood and Jerome. One tip though, I drive a 45' bus and found unhooking your tow before proceeding to even the pull throughs to be a lot easier than they tell you. Sites are nice but can hane a slight slope to them. If you drive a 40' or less, there is no problem waiting to unhook at a pull through site. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Downtown Cottonwood has lots of great eating spots, the wineries on Page Springs road are really neat, and the drive there from Maguireville, exit off I-10 through Corneille, is very pleasant.

We have reviewed this park before and here is that review. Our opinions remain the same, but were disappointed with the poor customer relations during our May 2016 visit.

Previous stay: We had first stopped at a neighboring campground that was full, so decided to stop at Distant Drums to see if they had availability. We're glad we did. This is a beautifully manicured park with concrete sites and full hook-ups. The sites are arranged such that not all of them are side by side. Access to the park is easy. The only downside to the park is that the park wifi is practically non-existent, but we were told that at the time we registered. The ladies working in the office were pleasant, but it appeared they were new at working there. There was an escort to the site. There was a nice laundry room, although several of the machines were out of order. The showers/bathrooms appeared clean. There is a fenced dog run. This park offers both Passport America and Good Sam discounts; however, there are many restrictions with the Passport America discount (no discounts in April). If you want to receive the Passport America discount, it's best to check the Passport America site to see when it can be used at this park, as it's very limited.

May 2016 stay: This particular visit, the pool was not in service. Check-in time is 1:00 p.m. We arrived at 10:15 a.m. and were charged a $10.00 early check-in fee. We feel this is poor customer relations. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Great park with excellent views of surrounding mountains. Lots of "pull-in" spaces. Hookups worked well. Staff were very attentive when parking and leaving. Some spaces are tight and unleveled but doable. Casino just across the street. One of best places we've stayed!
I would have given them an overall 10 but they were out of "laundry cards", seemed odd that could happen at a place so well run, they said " people weren't returning them". Would definitely return. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are many things to do in the area: Excellent heritage sites, Prescott, Cottonwood, Sedona, Camp Verde. The Train ride from Clarkdale up the Valley was excellent. Be sure and take 89A up the Oak Creek Valley. Nice grocery store in Camp Verde.

Very convenient off the hwy. We couldn't get in to parks in Sedona and now glad because this new park is much nicer. Concrete pads, wide paved streets, spotlessly clean, nice pool and parks store. Trash pick up at site daily. Tasteful landscaping. Only a 20-30 min scenic drive to Sedona. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

While this was a very clean park, the concrete sites as mentioned before left alot to be desired as far as being level. In addition, they use small pea size gravel between the concrete pads which have an annoying way of getting into your sandals. The pool, whirlpool, and restrooms and showers were very clean, and very well kept up. While this could have been a great park, the unlevel pads and the close proximity steal away from its potential of being outstanding. The staff were very friendly and courteous, and when mail came called to let you know. We stayed there for a month in March and met some great people. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Probably the Best campground we've stayed at (have been to over 200). Helpful staff, clean sites (and cleaned daily). Paved sites and patios. All back-in, but they help you get settled. A dog park (and a roll of doggie bags when you check in). Good cable and WiFi. Laundry takes a card, but they refund any amount on the card that you don't use. Our only negative is that they don't recycle. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at Distant Drums RV Resort in April '16 for 6 nts. We were in space 148. We were in our 38' MH with 3 slideouts and a tow vehicle. Park is very well maintained, in a great location to visit Jerome (an old
copper mining town with shops/
restaurants/museums, Camp Verde,
Cliff Castle casino, Sedona,

Cottonwood, and Montezuma's
Castle. Friendly greeting on arrival
and given good info on where
amenities were located. We were
escorted to our back in spot and
helped with parking. Good wifi and
Verizon signal, but mostly in the
office/lounge area, dog park, and in
nice covered patio area outside
laundry room, not so much at our
site. Picnic table, bbq, & fire ring at
site. Level parking on fine gravel.
Cement pad next to MH for tow and
picnic table. Plenty of room for slides,
our small tow, patio chairs, dog
kennel. Small swimming pool with
shade cvr. Very clean laundry room
with large washer and dryers,
although about half were out of
order. Laundry card purchased at
office required but money you don't
used refunded at office. Good cable
reception and channels. Good dog
park, but could use a second one,
more seating and better night
lighting. Park is pretty quiet with
occasional Jake brake truck noise and
motocycles. Very popular park. We
enjoyed the park and area. Camp
Verde is charming town. Would stay again. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Bashas supermarket great.
Johny Rocket's in Casino good music & grilled cheese is SO good. Casino buffet so so/costly. La Casita serves up cold cerveza and xlnt food/service. The little deli/ice cream/pie shop sells great little pies. Another store inside
sells wonderful breads. Visit Montezuma's Castle NP;
ancient cliff dwellings, Sedona,
Cottonwood, & Jerome. Napa

This park is definitely a nice one. Easy access to/from the interstate and loaded with amenities one would expect from a park that calls itself a resort. Restrooms are actually individual shower rooms. Very clean, well designed, and totally private. Nice workout room and a pool area. The location is also ideal for those wanting to visit several close by areas. Office staff is cordial and you are escorted to your site. Several different types of sites ranging from back ins, drive ins, and pull thrus, with each type having a different setup. The pad you park on can be either red rock gravel or concrete slab. All sites do have concrete patios. Trash is picked up several times a day right at your site. Maintenance carts drive around all the time picking up misc. items off the roads and walkways, etc. Several RV's around us came and left during our stay and each time within just minutes after their departure a guy showed up on a cart and completely raked out the red rock gravel areas then blew off the concrete slab and/or patio area. The only fault we have with this park, and one that kept us from giving it a 10, is the fact that the sites that offer both a concrete parking pad and patio are not level. Our space required both time and patience to get as level as possible without lifting the wheels off the ground. and we never did get completely level. This leveling thing in parks with "concrete pads" has become a "bone of contention" with me. If a park goes to the expense of installing concrete pads then why can't they have those concrete pads level??? How hard can it be when pouring concrete to have it level??? We saw several large motorhomes with their front wheels up on blocks or their jacks and lifted several inches off the ground. This is not good to see in a park such as this. However, even with that one fault we will for sure stay here again next time our travels take us thru this area. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very close to Sedona, Montezuma's Castle and several other interesting areas including the old copper mining town Jerome, perched on the side of a mountain at just over 6,000 feet. The views of the valley below are incredible. Great shops and eateries including "Grape's", a must stop for lunch. The town of Camp Verde is also a short drive from the park and has a Walgreen's and a very large Basha's supermarket for all your grocery needs.
