Very nice park. Office staff very friendly. Escorts show you to your site, also help you pull in, giving you directions so you don't run into anything. Pool & spa were clean. Nice dog run area .. Easy access from I17. Lots to do in the area with the casino across the freeway. Cottonwood, Jerome, Clarkdale, Cornville, and Page Springs made for great day trips. Will stay again in the the fall...Kinda warm in June.. WiFi was good. Cable Tv also good. Showers were very clean.. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Easy to get to from I-17. Wide paved interior roads, concrete pads wide enough to park the coach and toad. Very nice park. We stayed here because the park in Sedona was full and we're very glad they recommended to us. The location of this park makes getting to Sedona and the nearby towns very easy. There is some road noise but it really didn't disturb us. This area is prone to high winds, especially in the afternoon, so don't leave your awning out when you leave for the day. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Definitely visit Sedona but also visit the Tuzigoot ruins and the V Bar V petroglyph site. Plan to be at the V Bar V in time to see the Sun Dagger. It occurs between noon and 1:00. Call to check on the time. It's not to be missed. We had lunch at The Tavern in old Cottonwood and the food was very good.

The only drawback was that they just hardly have shade. I wish they had more and bigger trees. Our AC could not keep up with the heat.

Our site was a back in, and had grass. We chose it since our dog likes to sit outside and loves the grass. It was really big area that we were able to play frisbee with her.

The staff is so great too and very friendly. They have a great exercise room, probably the best we came across so far and I mean it!

I can see how we could have enjoyed it more if we came during winter or fall time, in other words avoid the month of June!!

The campground is well designed, it really is very beautiful, even though it is close to a not so busy highway, it wasn't a problem since the AC was working 24/7.

We stayed there for just few nights.

(If you have Passport America you can only get the discount for one night and only in specific sites. We paid $18 for the first night.) We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

It's only 30 min from Sedona, which we went to every day for hiking and dining. Excellent restaurants great views.

This park exceeded our expectations. The sites are very well laid out with many being nose in (or nose out if a perimeter site) with spectacular views of the Verde valley and surrounding mountains. Full hook ups all worked as expected. Staff was friendly and helpful. Verizon 3G is spotty, 4G works well. Park WiFi was spotty, depending on time of day/usage. This is a good central location to see attractions in the area including Tuzigoot, Montezuma Castle and Well, Tonto Natural Bridge, Jerome and Sedona. Although located next to I-17, the noise from the highway was minimal due to the road being elevated. We would definitely recommend this park. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Very clean park and our site was level which made for an easy set up. Sites are large, we were set up in #70, right across from office. The gentleman who helped us to our site was very informative and helpful about the area. We would definitely stay here again when passing through. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Went to Sedona, beautiful as always, but crazy busy. Did the Verde Canyon Train ride-very relaxing and enjoyable. The Copper Museum is very interesting in Clarkdale.

Also, visited the old town part of Cottonwood (loved Larry's Antiques!).

Overall, value was very good for the location of the park. The sites near the front were suggested to us by the park as the quietest. Unfortunately they were right on top of each with very odd angles. Rather difficult to back in and we heard neighbors dogs barking, conversations and folks coming and going. We stayed 3 nights and visited nearby Sedona, Flagstaff, Jerome and Winslow. The higher freeway speed limits made this a very good central point for exploring the area. Due to the location alone, I'd stay there again. Wifi was poor at best as most RV parks are. Casino access convenient by shuttle. Pool was clean. Laundry facilities were heavily used and machines needed owner intervention to refill cards or reset machines.

The lobby wifi was a little better than at the site. A free computer in the lobby for public use was helpful, as it was hard wired. Pool was very clean. Nice shady area with tables and chairs under the office was a nice shelter while waiting for laundry or to read a book. Do not recommend sites near the office. Also note, because of the tightness of the spaces, park requires you to sign a responsibility statement if you run into their stuff. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

My wife and I stayed at Distant Drums RV Resort for close to a month. We used this park as a jump-off point to see all the sights in the area. The park is huge, with no full timers. The service was very helpful and check-in didn't take long. This is however one of those parks that insist that someone take you to your spot and monitor your parking in your space. Although the park was almost full and the sites have plenty of room in between, the road into the spaces can be tight if you are not used to backing in. I have a 40 ft. rig with a trailer and the guy was impressed that I got it in on one try. We were in space 141. The hookups were all good. The only bad thing is their sewer hookups. You can't get a good seal. We run an on line business and the connection here is bad. Our Verizon hot spot was weak and the park's Wi-Fi is iffy. I advise getting a VPN while using any public Wi-Fi for security. We contacted the desk after a week and they were able to move us to space #43 which made the connection better but not great. Our satellite worked great. Some spots have a picnic table. We never used the pool but it looked clean. The freeway close by does have some noise but you get used to it. The people working at the park always keep the park clean. There are several restrooms which are newish and the showers are very nice and always clean. The laundry area is nice with several washers and dryers but the only bad thing is that you have to get a card and put money on it. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

My tips to staying here are do your homework on everything in the area to see because there is so much. When you're driving always use your cruise control because Camp Verde is a Highway Patrol base and they are everywhere pulling people over which is great to save lives but, not if you have a heavy foot. I always use my cruise control and look for speed limits in new places.

We stayed for one month, left for a few days to visit Grand Canyon, and came back for another week, so our nightly rate actually reflects the monthly rate. Distant Drums is, by far, at the top of the list of our favorite parks. The roads are not as wide as the website would lead you to believe; it gets pretty tight when you're backing into a site, and, while the staff does their best to direct you, if they are not familiar with your rig and how far out the slides move, then you may find yourself too close to a tree or power outlet. Overall, though, the park is immaculate - very clean and well groomed. The pool and hot tub are very nice and not crowded. The staff is wonderful, friendly, and knowledgeable. The sites are paved with great outdoor space and room to park your tow vehicle. During our stay, the park hosted several events, including a cookout, Mother's Day treats, and taco night. The park is located across the highway from the casino and, upon check-in, you receive a coupon for gambling. (The casino provides a free shuttle service.) It's close to I-17 and can be a little noisy at times. However, we loved Distant Drums RV and would definitely return. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Great location for visiting Sedona, Jerome, and Cottonwood - all a short drive away.

Check in easy, had reservation for specific site and got it. Park easy to maneuver, even big rigs no problem. Escort to site that knew slope and actually knew how to help! Great job! Watched how others were placed and always great with helping. They have limited pull thru sites so make reservation if you want one. Pull thru's long enough so you do not have to unhook. Sites raked after each person. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Like I said before, make reservation if you want a pull thru.

Very nice park, well cared for. We only had two issues which we are not real thrilled about. It seems like a fair amount of the staff smoked so the park seemed very smoker friendly so if you smoke great. Also, the sites are not level and if you use blocks to level it may a little tough. Overall nice place. We would stay here again. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very close to Montezuma Well and Castle, Fort Verde and casino. About a half hour from the other attractions in the area Jerome, Sedona, Slide Rock, Toozigut, etc.

Everything about this park is nice. The check-in at the office was done professionally and pleasantly. The guy who directed us to our site was polite and helpful, and the facility itself is nicely kept. We stopped en route to Utah and would stay here again any time. A very nice spot. My only complaint is that the pull-through spaces are very tight with very little space between. It could have been our own space, as we got the last one available, so maybe the others are wider. There are trees planted, but not big enough to provide shade during summer months. This park caters to adults but does not prohibit children. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Park provides a shuttle to a nearby casino, however we did not use it.

We started out with an error in our reservation and a site that we could not get level on but the park handled both issues well and looked after us. We were in one of their "motorhome" sites that are drive-in which was almost as convenient as a pull-thru and we had ample parking for our toad. The site and patio were concrete, surrounded by grass and trees/shrubs. We'll be back. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Montezuma Castle and Well, Jerome, Sedona, Verde Vally Railroad and much more all within an easy day-trip distance.

Nicely laid out park with attractive plantings and raked gravel around sites. Water pressure a little low, Wi-Fi limited to one device and was slow. Utility connections were easy. Site pads - some cement, some gravel - were somewhat sloped. Office staff service was uneven. Nice hiking trails around park. Rate reflects week-long stay. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects Good Sam's discount. This is one of our favourite campsites and our 4th visit. It is clean, well maintained and well tended shrubs and plants. The roads are tarmac with hard standing sites. Friendly staff, shown to site on arrival and trash collection from site, these two features are becoming more rare at campsites. There is a free shuttle to the casino if required. Easy access from the I-17 but very little highway noise. We certainly recommend and as stated before we would give a perfect 10 but the poor wifi lets them down, a feature that is needed in this technological age. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
