While this was a very clean park, the concrete sites as mentioned before left alot to be desired as far as being level. In addition, they use small pea size gravel between the concrete pads which have an annoying way of getting into your sandals. The pool, whirlpool, and restrooms and showers were very clean, and very well kept up. While this could have been a great park, the unlevel pads and the close proximity steal away from its potential of being outstanding. The staff were very friendly and courteous, and when mail came called to let you know. We stayed there for a month in March and met some great people. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The sites of the mountains around Sedona were awesome, going up to Jerome was a great trip

Probably the Best campground we've stayed at (have been to over 200). Helpful staff, clean sites (and cleaned daily). Paved sites and patios. All back-in, but they help you get settled. A dog park (and a roll of doggie bags when you check in). Good cable and WiFi. Laundry takes a card, but they refund any amount on the card that you don't use. Our only negative is that they don't recycle. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at Distant Drums RV Resort in April '16 for 6 nts. We were in space 148. We were in our 38' MH with 3 slideouts and a tow vehicle. Park is very well maintained, in a great location to visit Jerome (an old
copper mining town with shops/
restaurants/museums, Camp Verde,
Cliff Castle casino, Sedona,

Cottonwood, and Montezuma's
Castle. Friendly greeting on arrival
and given good info on where
amenities were located. We were
escorted to our back in spot and
helped with parking. Good wifi and
Verizon signal, but mostly in the
office/lounge area, dog park, and in
nice covered patio area outside
laundry room, not so much at our
site. Picnic table, bbq, & fire ring at
site. Level parking on fine gravel.
Cement pad next to MH for tow and
picnic table. Plenty of room for slides,
our small tow, patio chairs, dog
kennel. Small swimming pool with
shade cvr. Very clean laundry room
with large washer and dryers,
although about half were out of
order. Laundry card purchased at
office required but money you don't
used refunded at office. Good cable
reception and channels. Good dog
park, but could use a second one,
more seating and better night
lighting. Park is pretty quiet with
occasional Jake brake truck noise and
motocycles. Very popular park. We
enjoyed the park and area. Camp
Verde is charming town. Would stay again. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Bashas supermarket great.
Johny Rocket's in Casino good music & grilled cheese is SO good. Casino buffet so so/costly. La Casita serves up cold cerveza and xlnt food/service. The little deli/ice cream/pie shop sells great little pies. Another store inside
sells wonderful breads. Visit Montezuma's Castle NP;
ancient cliff dwellings, Sedona,
Cottonwood, & Jerome. Napa
Auto parts and mechanics next to Napa - great.

This park is definitely a nice one. Easy access to/from the interstate and loaded with amenities one would expect from a park that calls itself a resort. Restrooms are actually individual shower rooms. Very clean, well designed, and totally private. Nice workout room and a pool area. The location is also ideal for those wanting to visit several close by areas. Office staff is cordial and you are escorted to your site. Several different types of sites ranging from back ins, drive ins, and pull thrus, with each type having a different setup. The pad you park on can be either red rock gravel or concrete slab. All sites do have concrete patios. Trash is picked up several times a day right at your site. Maintenance carts drive around all the time picking up misc. items off the roads and walkways, etc. Several RV's around us came and left during our stay and each time within just minutes after their departure a guy showed up on a cart and completely raked out the red rock gravel areas then blew off the concrete slab and/or patio area. The only fault we have with this park, and one that kept us from giving it a 10, is the fact that the sites that offer both a concrete parking pad and patio are not level. Our space required both time and patience to get as level as possible without lifting the wheels off the ground. and we never did get completely level. This leveling thing in parks with "concrete pads" has become a "bone of contention" with me. If a park goes to the expense of installing concrete pads then why can't they have those concrete pads level??? How hard can it be when pouring concrete to have it level??? We saw several large motorhomes with their front wheels up on blocks or their jacks and lifted several inches off the ground. This is not good to see in a park such as this. However, even with that one fault we will for sure stay here again next time our travels take us thru this area. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very close to Sedona, Montezuma's Castle and several other interesting areas including the old copper mining town Jerome, perched on the side of a mountain at just over 6,000 feet. The views of the valley below are incredible. Great shops and eateries including "Grape's", a must stop for lunch. The town of Camp Verde is also a short drive from the park and has a Walgreen's and a very large Basha's supermarket for all your grocery needs.

Very nice park, clean and well looked after. Great location to explore the area from Jerome to Sedona.
The sites are not level, ours s;oped so much to the front our leveling jacks had to take the front wheels of the ground. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We have stayed here before. This park is kept exceptionally clean and welcoming. The staff was very helpful. Yes some concrete pads have a big slope on them, others are not as bad. My only real gripe that prevents me from ranking them as 10, is the incredibly poor WiFi. The coverage seems good, but the band width is a joke and it keeps kicking you off every 1/2 hour or so. Some times one has to attempt to log in 3 or 4 times just to download e-mail. Very poor. Yes, I know they warn you that it is for light use. Get with the times and upgrade your WiFi. We probably won't be back until we are assured that they have corrected this huge shortfall. You do everything else so well, quit being cheap, upgrade your system. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This park is an easy drive to Sedona and Montezuma's Castle. Another easy drive is to the old mining town of Jerome; lots to see there.

I like the way the sites are laid out there staggered and plenty of room. Wifi was hit and miss but most parks are the same way. The only negative was was baking dogs especially the ones across from us. We will stay here again and hopefully the park will enforce their rules regarding this issue. Very nice park. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

I would give this park a 9 if the sites were level and not so close together. Based on our walk through of the park, very few of the sites are level front to back. Nonetheless this is a very good park for an overnight stay. We have stayed here before and will stay here again. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a nice campground, but it has some problems. The sites are unlevel. We needed to put blocks under our front wheels, and noticed that most of the other RVs have blocks or wood under theirs. The laundry is very strange. You need to go to the office and get a card (similar to a credit card). You have them load as much money on it as you think you'll need. Then you insert that into a slot on the washer or dryer. There is no compartment for your detergent. You have to put it directly on the clothes. There are 5 washers ($1.75) and 7 dryers ($1.75). Two of the washers and two of the dryers are for light loads only. There were no activities except for a pot luck on Thanksgiving, and they didn't post any notices about that. The only way I found out about it was when I went to the front desk to load money onto the card for the laundry. In the corner of the desk there was a sign-up sheet. I asked about it, and was told "Oh, yeah. We're going to have Thanksgiving dinner here in the activities room." We're not really happy with this park. Before we stay here again, we'll check to see if there is a nicer one near here. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We loved Out of Africa Wildlife Park. We expected to spend a couple of hours there and ended up spending the whole day. Note: Don't waste your money on the Expedition Passport. There's a bus you can take that does the same thing for free.

This park is very well maintained and clean. The sites are a bit cramped for big rigs and the wi-fi is spotty. Unfortunately we got placed near the entrance of the park, so it was a bit noisy in the mornings as other we're leaving. Also we were placed right next to the propane filling station and it smelled gassy. Love the shuttle bus to the casino across the highway. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

While this park calls itself a 10/10/10 park, it is difficult to give it more than an "8" for a couple of reasons. In the two weeks we were here, the park never had hot water for showers or laundry. They kept saying it was to be fixed but it was not. The WIFI in this park is spotty at best and unfortunately while we were here they had their fiber optic line cut. We were without WiFi for two days at the RV and had to go to the office to use. When it was restored, many times it was frustratingly slow. The cable TV quality could be improved since many channels were snowy. The sites are very nice with concrete in abundance and good access roads, however the shrubs got in the way of our slides which was problematic. The gravel in between sites was well kept but somewhat messy. We reserved our space 6 months in advance and asked for a long pull thru for a 42 foot 5th wheel and 20 foot truck, yet had a space that could not fit both.
Had to park the truck across the street from RV. The fitness room here was nice as was the pool, especially with abnormally high temps during the stay. The laundry room is large and well lit. The common room was well kept and decorated nicely. The free use of ample DVD's was a nice touch, but the reading library choices were nothing to write home about. The help at the front desk was very cordial, but they could have been more helpful with WiFi issues. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Sedona is 24 miles away and well worth visiting for excellent hiking, shopping, eating and sight-seeing. The nearby Cliffs Casino is a major disappointment and smells from smoke inside. Nearby Cottonwood (16 miles) is a nice town with all the services one would need (i.e. WalMart, auto dealers, shopping, etc). The town of Camp Verde (5 miles) has grocery stores, post office for stores.

Our RV club spent 10 days at Distant Drums RV Park. This park exceeded my expectations in all areas. Site Cleanliness, Excellent WiFi, trash bag pickup at the site throughout the day, pleasant clerks in the office, free morning coffee, a prepared breakfast on Saturday (donation accepted) and beautiful views. Our Club had access to their club room for group dining which had a well equipped kitchen and 3 BBQ's on the patio adjacent to the club room. This RV Park/Resort is owned and operated by the local Native American tribe. They do an excellent job. We will return in the future as their are many places to visit within 30 miles of this resort, the city of Sedona being one of them. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We have stayed here multiple times and it only gets better. The staff are very friendly and helpful especially the crew that escorts you to your site. The roads are paved and the sites are concrete with a concrete patio area and gravel between sites. There are small trees and ground cover vegetation and areas of grass around park. The gravel is raked after checkout. The casino shuttle is very convenient. Good Sam has rated this park as one of the 12 most scenic in the country.
