We stayed 3 nights to visit Sedona, Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon. Very clean. Easy to register, a guide takes you to your spot. All spaces are angled, close and back in. We plugged in our Hughes Autoformer and the ground leg was bad. The park immediately had someone replace the breaker and that didn’t work, replaced the plug and all was well. Friendly fast service! Voltage runs about 118v with the Hughes on. Water pressure was low. Trash pickup every morning. Nice pool, showers, bathrooms and laundry. No open flames is a bummer if you like to grill, but everyone is so close I can see the point. Beautiful stars at night. We would return. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Immaculate! Very tight spaces, but big rigs will fit. Very, very NOISEY. Loud compressor runs for power washing RVs! Goes on most mornings, lasting for an hour or more. Added to highway noise, look elsewhere for peace & quiet! We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Clean, spacious, and well maintained. Great park if you do not need reliable internet. Both WiFi and Verizon hotspot is very bad here. If you need reliable internet, then this resort is not good for you. I have no other complaints. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Big rig friendly with level sites. Easy on/off to I17. Showers, WiFi, and dog park was good. Library had numerous books to exchange. Heated pool and hot tub looked nice but did not use since this was an overnight stay. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Stayed 2 weeks at this fairly large campground, which is associated with the Yavapi-Apache "Cliff Castle" Casino nearby. As result, you get $10 per person gambling vouchers per calendar month of your stay, to use at casino, which also provides a free shuttle bus to and from the campground. Wide paved streets and concrete pads, most with accompanying gravel area to park tow vehicle on. For all the paved pads though, they were not particularly level. Avoid Site 51, which is right at entrance and next to dump station, and one of harder sites to back into...lucky us. Park staff misled us, indicating dump station was rarely used, but in fact it was used daily we learned. Well maintained park, with trash pickup at site, a pool, a nice fenced dog park, nice common/social area and covered deck area (where we attended a Halloween Pot Luck dinner sponsored by park), a gym (first time we encountered that nice amenity), and a store, which was oddly lacking in RV supplies. Very nice private shower/bathrooms and laundry. WiFi signal was strong, but bandwidth was lacking, so we often lost the connection. Verizon coverage poor, but good enough for a cell signal booster to work well. Excellent cable TV. Lots of noise in various areas of park, either from interstate on one side, or the surprisingly busy entrance road...with a cattle grate, unfortunately, adding to noise. For the price though (discounted for weekly rate), I would consider staying again if in area...just not in Site 51! We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Good base of operations for 3 ancient Native American ruins (Montezuma Castle, Montezuma Well, Tuzigoot), as well as several state parks, Sedona's amazing red rocks and hiking trails, and trips over to Prescott. Verde Brewing Company is tiny, out of way, but very good beers and good food, although menu is limited.

Facilities very nice. Roads are a little narrow for backing in but they guide you. Not exactly level but close. Apache Nation casino across the road and they also own the campground. Pool and hot tub very nice especially when it's 100 degrees. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

I was very impressed with this campground. It was very clean and well maintained. When I booked, they booked me for a full hookups site, but when I arrived, they saw the size of my trailer (just 14 feet) and realized I probably didn't actually need full hookups and offered me one of their less expensive water/electric sites. They have several water/electric sites which they do not advertise on their website. They are cheaper (by about $13 for this visit), and are also the closest sites to the restrooms/showers. They are back in sites, only suitable for smaller rigs, but if that sounds appropriate for you, it's worth asking if they are available for your stay. The great service continued with the personal escort to my site, who was happy to help guide backing my trailer into the space. Everything at this campground was super clean and well maintained. This includes the several large, spacious private restrooms with showers in the main building. Planning to go to the casino (just across the freeway)? They offer $10 of free play with a coupon received at checkin. I would definitely stay here again. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Easy off and on ramps from I-17 in Arizona. Nice clean park with paved streets, concrete pads, little grass, picnic tables; free shuttle to a nearby casino for those interested. We had to use blocks under our front tires, as our site was sloped. You could see that most sites had a southernly slope (maybe for water draininage??) Terrific staff. Although our site was a pull-through, we could not pull through because of utility poles placed at the ends of each site. Can't maneuver a 45' in there. So we had to 'go around the block' and literally back in to our site. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We were trying to stay in Sedona, but no room, so we found Distant Drum, south of Sedona in Camp Verde, which is about 3,000 feet lower in elevation, hence a lot hotter, and not many trees. However, this is a very nice desert landscaped park. Smooth check-in. Friendly staff. Roads are paved, big rig friendly. Sites are concrete, level and have picnic tables. Our pull through site #79 was narrow and long, but positioned oppositely to preserve a little front yard space. The park has a new, well maintained look to it, and all connections worked well. Ran our two ACs the entire time. It has a very nice dog run, pool and other amenities. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The only reason I didn't give this park a 10 is because the wifi was sketchy. Otherwise, it was great. The staff are very helpful. It is right off of the freeway, but we didn't hear any road noise at all. I did have a little trouble when I was calling to make my reservation - no one answering or returning calls, but it was worth it when we got there. Tips for other Campers:

We visited Montezuma Well and Montezuma Castle. We also visited Jerome (a really quaint old town on the side of a hill). Sedona is right up the road, and there are some great golf courses there, as well as fun shops. There is a casino very close to the resort, with a shuttle for guests. Phoenix is about an hours drive, as is Flagstaff. It is a convenient location.

We have been stopping at Distant Drums for years. The park has consistently been a nice, clean campground, with a convenient location, not far from Sedona. Sites are well spaced and staff is friendly. We usually just stay one or two nights while passing through as there isn't a lot to do in the immediate area, but a great stop over.
