We really enjoyed our stay here. It's quiet and has beautiful views both day and night. We loved to ride our mountain bikes on the trails through the saguaro, including the competition tracks. The sites are spread out. It is a bit of a long, slow drive from the campground to the edge of town, but that's what makes it quiet, right? We had an extremely sketchy Verizon data signal, even with our cradle booster. - Brad & Angela
Mar 2018 - $30.00
Fantastic campground, with very large sites. Tired of being squished next to your neighbors? Then camp here! There are a few drawbacks: No sewer hookups (dump station), and only one shower in bath house. But this is a minor "complaint" as the sites are very clean, quiet, incredible views, and extremely spacious. Yes, they do have a locked gate at night, and shopping/groceries are far away (2-30) minutes, but this park is well worth a stay in Winter & Spring. Excellent cell reception and plenty of over the air TV channels as well. - Phoenix Rover
Mar 2018 - $30.00
We stayed here for a few days while visiting friends. It is a lovely setting and easy back in. Nice area around the fire pit. We had 2 really big complaints: 1) the is only one shower(m&f) for all of the campground. There is no sewer hook-up so if you are there for more than a couple of days, it's a hardship. Plus the push bottom shower only stayed for abou 30secs. 2) There is a gate for after hours which is nice however it is an awful set-up. It's a combination lock with dial. There is no light on it & your auto lights don't help. Plus it right next to a cattle grate making walking scary. They need to have a lift arm gate. I can't say the camp hosts were very friendly--no one was. But the views are amazing and the stars are amazing at night plus great sunrises. - Afhertzog_54
Jan 2018 - $56.00
This is NOT an RV Park. It is a long term RV Park for snowbirds. Since I was only there for a week, I had NO WIFI and NO CABLE. You are renting someone's improved lot. Some spaces have Covered parking for the RV and Arizona cabins. Mine was an open lot with a locked storage shed. The spaces are close together. ALL sites are back-in. They do have a volunteer kitchen with reasonably priced breakfast and lunch. The neighbors were friendly. The laundry was clean. - GerryBrown
Dec 2017 - $27.00
We stayed here for 6 years. Lately the RV lots are disappearing, as many put Park Models on them. So finding lots each year is getting very difficult. Also if your rig/RV is over 10 yrs old, you have all kinds of requirements to have it allowed in. At 15 yr, has to be inspected by the Board. Electric is VERY high in Surprise. We paid on average about $125/month with very little heat pump or A/C. Loads of activities -- we're PickleBall players (14 outdoor courts), but there are many other activities. Three pool (one seawater). Excellent entertainment in ballroom. - User1723
Jan 2017 - $65.00
This park came recommended to us by an RV mobile technician when we were visiting another park near Phoenix. This is a unique RV Resort. It is a destination park rather than an overnight stay park. You can rent daily, weekly or monthly. We very much enjoyed the people and the activities. The lots are large 2400 square feet or larger they are all back in sites. Lots vary in landscaping from bare gravel lots to fully covered ports with Casitas. Lots are deeded rather than owned by a commercial park. Rent directly from owners or a service. Amenities includes a volunteer run restaurant serving breakfast and lunch in season. The food is excellent. Pickleball, Golf, Tennis, Billards, Pottery, Scheduled Entertainment and Tours. It is easy access from the 303 loop and I-10 interstate. Spring training baseball games less than 5 miles away. The golf club outside the gate also has good food and serves a Cod fish fry dinner for 5 to 7 pm each Friday night. - Gypsymaus
Nov 2018 - $45.00
This is our third winter season here. More trees than the newer RV parks in the area. Nice size park with planned activities. Convenient to shopping and restaurants. Older park but improvements are made every year. We love it here! - Carl and Brenda
Nov 2018 - $47.00
Nice park, well appointed, lots of seasonals, book ahead, far enough away from HWY 10, jets overhead during the day, within 5 miles of all shops, would definitely return. - Tonyl
Oct 2018 - $35.00
What a wonderful surprise this campground turned out to be. The staff - all of them are great. This is a great campground for extended stays. Love the security! They are located right off interstate which makes it perfect to be home base. So much to do nearby. Zoo, shopping, restaurants. The sites are close like most campgrounds. Parking your tow can be challenging but not impossible. We had a picnic table and a BBQ. Loved waking up to the birds chirping and the planes going by. At night it's quiet. They have citrus trees you can pick from in between sites. Nearby a zoo, restaurant and outlet shopping. It's an up an coming area. - NPC
Apr 2018 - $31.00
This is a Snowbird park, which was fortunately half empty - lots of Mobile homes and permanent residents. We were in a smaller "pull through" section, sites were level but very close together - not even 10 feet between campers. Small concrete pad at back of site, no picnic tables and with a tiny wannabe tree, so no shade from the high Arizona temps! Location was very close to all major shops and services but a long way from downtown Phoenix. - Retired Wanderers
Mar 2018 - $38.00
Excellent short term park, with nice gravel sites. I did notice long term sites were all dirt, and no picnic tables at any sites in the park. This is only complaint I have, otherwise great park. - LindaC
Feb 2018 - $24.00
I don't recommend this park if you want to be parked in one site for your whole visit. They think nothing of moving you from site to site saying someone else is coming when no one does. Very poor management and office staff has no idea about running a park. - Tina 69
Jul 2018 - $20.00
What a luxury resort...a waterfall at the pool, fireplace by the hot tub, a golf course, pickle ball, every amenity you can think of except shuffleboard. Abundant floral, trees and shrubs. A palm tree at every RV lot of which there are 550 RV spots. - Barbara Smith
Apr 2018 - $28.00
The site was level with the hook ups toward the rear. We had an escort to the site and help with parking. Everything was very clean. The wifi worked fine at the site. we did hear that they were having issues with the cable, but we did not use it. - Al and Anne-Marie
Apr 2018 - $30.00
This is a beautiful resort probably one of the nicest we have ever stayed at clean well landscaped beautiful pool sites are reasonably large but the above price is based on a monthly stay and is plus utilities and does not include internet which is available for approx 25 to 35 per month but you have to sign up for a recurring billing which was too much of a hassle even small campgrounds provide internet garbage was picked up twice a week which could be an issue the washrooms and pool are in the center of the park which is huge so it can be a long walk although the pool area is large so is the park the first 2wks we were there the park was full and the pool too crowded to use the last 2 was it was empty pool was lovely Then there are the jets this by itself is reason to look elsewhere we would not return. - janel323
Dec 2013 - $20.00
A small campground that is a little tight to navigate. They don't have a minimum trailer length or maximum age to camp like most other places around here have. - Artlamah
May 2008 - $37.00
Very small and parking is bad. - gracieo
Apr 2017 - $44.00
Unfortunately we've heard this park has been closed and purchased by the city. They have other plans for the property. Planes, trains, and automobiles! Noise was definitely noticeable. All are basically next door. We enjoyed our stay and the park was very convenient for Mariner and Padres games. - SandyBBB
Aug 2016 - $30.00
We've found it! An OASIS in the desert! Donorma RV Park is absolutely a gem. We are so lucky to have found this park. It is not like the sterile parks where they have 80' palm trees that offer no shade, and everyone is stacked up against the neighbors like sardines. The lots come in a variety of sizes to fit most RV's.
Donorma has trees that offer shade, grass, the green mowable variety, a smorgasbord of cacti to check out, humming birds, and bunch of bunnies running around. The management staff (family) are very friendly and helpful. Pretty much everyone was involved in getting us in our space and set up correctly.
We found Donorma while looking for a RV park in the area using Google Maps. All the trees we saw are what drew us to it. We also noticed that it had a pool. Sadly, the pool has now been filled in, and more gravel seems to be arriving daily.
What really made this park stand out from the other parks was the fact that it wasn't a sterile gravel lot, or slabs of concrete and asphalt like all the others we looked at. These RV parks do nothing but radiate heat late into the night which everyone tries to avoid any time of day when you're in the desert.
Anyone that has ever spent any part of the summer season in an RV in the desert looks forward to shade, and a pool, to get away from the endless sun, and heat. We hope the owners realize what a unique gem they have here.
Pro's - Friendly management, trees, green, lots of shade, quiet, location, very clean bathrooms, onsite propane, washers/dryers, pets allowed.
Con's - No pool now, more gravel than needed. - Stone n Pebbles
Feb 2016 - $30.00
We stayed at Donorma RV Park for the Winter of 2016, November thru April. This park is such a great place to stay! We found the managers to be very kind and helpful. They work hard to keep up the park and are always doing landscaping or taking care of the grounds in one way or another. It is a family-managed park and so the park has a family feel to it. There are showers and bathrooms as well as 4 washers and dryers for the visiting rver's to use. There are chickens and rabbits and numerous birds if you like animals. There are pets allowed as well. It has a number of pull thru sites and accommodates rv's up to 40'. This is an oasis in the desert as the landscaping uses fruit and hardwood trees as well as many varieties of flowering plants and bushes. It is a very nice park with very nice people managing. - KarenFay
May 2018 - $39.00
When we were escorted to our RV site at 7pm, we didn't get a receipt. The guy guided us to pull in site which was a crappy sandy area that looked like a parking lot. Where he guided was far beyond where we needed to be for sewer, etc. None of the paperwork indicated pool times or shower times, etc. I tried to call when i figured it out.. closed. A lot of resident mobile home/ manufactured homes which is a small city of those. If there were more people here it would be back to back front and sides. Thankfully we came during summer when most people are gone. Too far of a walk to any amenities. - User3122
Mar 2018 - $68.00
It is important to note that we spent only 1 week here, and this review reflects the transient experience. The park is large, spacious and beautifully landscaped, with a truly resort-like central area surrounded by park models and rv sites. The common facilities - pools, courts, craft rooms etc are really nice and adequately sized for a large resort. HOWEVER - the transient sites are off in one corner between the garbage bins and the storage area, and ressemble nothing more than a gravel parking lot with narrow concrete patios. There is no landscaping at all in this area and the gravel was fine and dusty. The sites are very close together - barely room to walk around your rig, no privacy. The sites were long and level and the hookups were modern and well designed. The staff were pleasant but somewhat ineffective. For example, they were too busy to print a receipt when we checked in; we had to go back later. Our welcome package did not contain any information about facilities or special events so we had to go hunt that down as well. When we arrived at our site, there was a truck parked in it, and our escort, unable to find the owner, was not authorized to move us to another site. It was up to us to find a solution. Considering that this was a 55+ resort, we were surprised to find children running around everywhere, not particularly well supervised. Only in the transient area?? These are all minor issues, but they add up to create a negative perception. Our most serious issue, though, was complete lack of internet connectivity at our site. Not just weak, or slow, but completely nonfunctional! I can accept this in remote settings, but not in an urban resort. We were considering Sunflower for a longer stay next year but we have decided to try elsewhere. - sue123
Feb 2018 - $50.00
Rate based upon 2 week stay in temp spot in the back. All services worked as expected except wi-fi which only worked at the office. Really nice facilities with happy hour and live music daily. Great location. One concern was too many children which was really noticeable at the pool. Not sure what age qualified park means but it appeared any age was allowed. - Igotjam
Jan 2019 - $48.00
Park is very easy to access from I-10 or AZ-85. There are two staging areas for arrivals, they are very thin lanes, however a host was on hand to guide us in. We did have to wait for the other motorhome to leave before opening our door though. We were guided to our site after a quick and easy check in. The site was level and connections well placed. I found water pressure to be low, only 40 psi max. Sites are long enough to park a car behind, but very thin in width. They alternate site entry so one neighbor is back to back while the other is out your front door. The stagger caused a strange set up. My neighbors picnic table was about 4 feet from my HVAC unit. Fortunately for them, it wasn't running while they were at the table. We had a sewer vent pipe on one side of our site and probably the only tree in the place on the other. I was able to open slides but the awning would have hit the tree and encroached on my neighbors site too. The restrooms were among the cleanest of any place I have seen. The laundry and common area were clean as well. Interior roads are wide enough to maneuver, a departure from the theme of thin widths on sites. - DJR CMR
Dec 2018 - $45.00
This park crowds the rigs together very closely. Will not use this park again. - Wingleader69
Nov 2018 - $40.00
We stayed 1 night passing through the area. The park is a few miles from I-10 (Exit 114: Miller Rd or Exit 117: Watson Rd). The road from I-10 to the park is 2 lanes wide and paved. There was an escort to the site. The sites are a mixture of back-ins and P/T's. The majority of the sites are for extended stays with a different fee schedule. The interior roads are paved with speed bumps. The site parking pads are compacted gravel. The interior roads were wide enough and the turns gentle enough to make maneuvering large RV's easy. The "Overnight" P/T sites were long enough to stay connected to toads. This park completely understands the simple concept of the importance of a flat, level site as the sites were flat and level. Distance establishes privacy between the sites. They have full hook ups - water, electricity (50/30/20 AMP), & sewer. The utility connections were towards the middle of the sites. Strong water pressure. The sewer connection was at ground making it easy to establish a downhill flow but State & County regulations requires sewer hoses to be elevated off the ground for proper drainage regardless your length of stay. There was an outside table but no fire pits at the sites. No obstructions to satellite reception. The park brochure listed about 42 OTA broadcast channels. There was no cable. Didn't try to get any broadcast channels. No park provided WiFi. Our Verizon WiFi hotspot worked well. Didn't try the NET10 phone so don't know about the reception. There were a couple designated fenced pet areas with gravel or grass surfaces. There were bag dispensers and waste collection stations around the park and in the fences pet areas for waste. There was sufficient area to walk dogs along the park roads with some designated areas for pet's use. We would probably stay here if the need arose while traveling through the area. - bsb814
May 2018 - $51.00
We pull a 43 ft fifthwheel with a Ford F350 1 ton dually pick up. This is a huge park of primarily park models. No dog run. and a long walk to the club house and pool and other facilities. Park is beautiful with lots of green grass and tall trees and beautiful flowers. Streets are macadam. Spaces are large and long. Short term RV sites are 30/50 AMP Full Hook Up on sand with a narrow concrete pad for a patio. Folks here are very friendly. This is a really nice park - just wish there was a fenced off leash dog area. WIFI is only available in the clubhouse area. No cable TV and no pull thru spaces for RV. We will definitely return. - JanneC
Oct 2017 - $40.00
We like this park so much that we took an annual site. Verizon is excellent. Satellite and over the air TV perfect. Internet is available at the activity center, we chose to sign up for Jabba. Sites are flat and large with patios. Roads could be better as Encore desperately needs to put some money into the pavement, which is the reason for the 9. Electric and water are good. All sites are FHU. We have two dogs and stay in the pet section. Lots of activities and good location for visiting the area. We travel in a 40 ft. MH and will be returning. - Deniselg53
Mar 2017 - $20.00
We stayed here six months from October thru March. This was our second time here, and we were even more happy with our stay this time than last. While this is an older park, it has full amenities and activities for the active adult, and RV'ers are welcomed by the permanent residents. It is one of the friendliest parks we've ever been in. The sites are quite spacious. We love it here and have already reserved next winter's stay. It is great for a shorter stopover as well. - MissMyGolden
