This is my first Thousand Trails Campground and I was happily impressed. Huge campground, like 3 campgrounds in one. Everything was clean and well taken care of. Were there permanents? Yes, but I don't remember campgrounds without them anymore, and it was not a bother, including our neighbors who were very friendly. Mostly, it is off the beaten path so things were very quiet! I loved that overnight and in the morning. I had a back-in space with full hookups. It is an easy walk to the Verde River, might bring the canoe or fishing pole next time. Next time here, I will stay in section b or c. Closer to the pool, looks more like an rv park to me. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Travel Trailer.

WiFi only in 3 clubhouses and even that was often Very Poor. AT&T cell coverage in area A was spotty. OTA TV in area A is OK but NBC was only analog. Area A is ~2 miles from entrance and is mostly quiet and nice. Except grass was all dried up and yellow like straw which if green it would be nice. Cannot use your rug in the grassy area and end up tracking in dried grass on your shoes. RVs are staggered in direction so 2 RV share the grass between them where you would sit, set up chairs and BBQ with two picnic tables but plenty of room for two but could be staring at each other. ~1/2 to 2/3 of the sites are occupied by long term campers. There was construction in area A and about half the sites were closed. it appeared they were upgrading these sites from 30 to 50A service but we could not find anyone to confirm this. Overall plenty of room at site and easy maneuvering. A few trails and the road to walk. On Verde River which is especially close to area A. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

Listen to the Ranger at the Guard Station. They will give you highlighted areas of open sites. So much easier to find that way. Certainly enjoyed my stay here. Being the RV Park is down in the river bed, receiving cell service isn't easy. If you have AT&T or Verizon, then you will get connected. They offer WiFi in the two buildings. All the pull thrus have FHU, the back in sites do not offer sewer. I took the 30 amp, but there are quite a few sites available for 50 amp, you will pay additional for them though. Many of the sites are being upgraded so they are not available, but hey, that just means more room for me on my camping side. Beautiful Pool, lots of trails to explore, the Rangers truly are very nice and helpful. There are always activities of some sort going on. Looking forward to Cinco De Mayo and Potluck dinner! Have fun, explore and get out and play a little, you'll have a blast like me! We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

Very disappointed in this park. Over 40 sites blocked off from use. A high percentage of the other sites are occupied by long term residents with large sheds, and attached structures. Families with children appear to be living in the park. Few transient sites available. This is no longer a campground but a "mobile home park". Our site is a very close side-by-side. Site is very dusty and dirty which gets on everything. We are a 15 year Thousand Trails member and will not be back here next time. We did not see any work being done on the closed sites during our 1 week stay. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

The park has gone down hill. Much of A,B,C sections are still closed, no power. Several sites are taped and bagged off. Now the laundry building is closed, building and leach field supposed to be rebuilt in 6 to 12 months. Lower H section is now a high percentage of leased sites and cabins, very difficult to get a decent site in upper H. The camp store is relocated, up in the RVR center on top the hill. We have been coming here for 8 years and this is the worst it has been, used to be one of our favorite stops, not anymore. Verde Valley Thousand Trails is beautifully situated just outside the bustle of Sedona, AZ in Cottonwood. We have camped there a couple of times and like the setting very much. When you enter the campground, you work your way down and down and down into a valley where cell service is spotty at best. If connectivity is a high priority, you may feel frustration here. Otherwise we found it to be lovely. The bath houses were clean, there were activities, and the seasonal campers and staff were as friendly as they could be. We enjoyed our time here. Very nice Thousand Trails. Level full hookup gravel 30/50 amp sites. There is a charge of $3/4/or 5 dollars for 50 amp, but I believe most are for permanents and "snowbird" rentals in the winter. There were none available when we visited, but the 30 amp was good. Nice pool and sauna. All buildings and roads are very well maintained. Small store and friendly people. About 7 miles off I-17 and near Sedona and other attractive towns. Cell is okay and wifi at lodges. Most hookups are side by side which puts you close on one side, but good tables, patio and grills. Would stay here again. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Your impressions of this park will be much better if you were not here 20 years ago. This is a beautiful area, with lots of nature trails and friendly people. The Maint has improved over two years ago in general, but yet many of the best sites have bags over the posts indicating they are "off-line", and these sites have been down for up to a year. Hmmm. The Ranger young lady at the gate had a couple of suggestions for us based upon our rig, and length and those suggestions were spot on. We ended up in H section, and even though we had to use the aqua hot diesel to supplement the 30 amp, all was well. This is a great place to take walks, or hikes...and in the Family Lodge there's a great book to paw over. Verizon was elusive, and we had to go to a Lodge to get internet (which was ok). Make sure you listen to your GPS when looking for "Thousand Trails Road". You better have a sharp eye out for the entrance, because recent road construction has made the entrance look like a off-road adventure...which it is not. Park Models now occupy some of our favorite spots we used to camp at over the years. More RV'ers on the road, plus more Members that have "bought in"...minus sites either off-line or occupied by Park Models means as a Member you need to book WAY ahead for Prime times, and take what spaces are available that are not taken by nice folks paying cash. Be sure to ask the Ranger for any suggestions on parking your size of rig. Make sure you bring a rubber sewer seal (dough-nut) with you, which is required for this park. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

No reliable wi-fi or Verizon cell access here - but I am not complaining about that! We were here for a full 7 days. The best sites are the single camper ones. Pull thru sites not private. Quiet, clean, with interesting small hike to the Valley Verde River. Great staff, very knowledgeable and courteous, and the long term residents are wonderful. Laundry, game room, kids areas, pool/spa, all clean and well lit and run. Great place to stay if you want to take a day trip to Sedona, Jerome, Montezuma's Castle, Cliff Castle, or nearby Old Town Cottonwood/Clarkdale - all of which are great little local watering pubs, artistic hubs, and memorable sights. The park itself is near a gas station just down the main hwy at Camp Verde, and the Walmart nearby is about 2-3 miles down the same road, very large and has all you need. 24/7 CVS is near also convenient and was open during Christmas Day. The park does not have night time lighting so bring a flashlight/headlamp, the sites are not paved, so bring a doormat, and levelers also. If going in winter like we did, keep the water at a slow drip from all your faucets all night to keep your pipes from freezing over! And make sure when you leave the water stays running a tiny bit at the hookup. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Travel Trailer.

In winter - keep all faucets inc the outside spigot at a drip when disconnecting. Don't give away your gate code for security purposes. Cutest quail watching in the park, they are small birds w red fans on their heads and black/white spots. No guns allowed but ok in your trailer only. Road in/out is hilly. Bring bikes to get around the park, it's big. Hiking trails are great at the park. Sedona, Jerome, Old Towns Cottonwood/Clarkdale, and Montezuma, Cliff Castle casino, great. Catch an RV show!

We've camped here several times and have always enjoyed it. The setting is in a valley with nice views around it, the sites are level and with full hook-ups. Yes, there are a lot of unusable sites due to electrical problems and wi-fi is a problem but we've always found a nice site and we went to the sales office at the top of the hill for good wi-fi. There are several cool trails through the campground and the pool was being enjoyed by lots of people. We enjoy this campground for its closeness to Sedona where we hike a lot. We spend a lot of time here during the winter season. CG wi-fi is terrible unless you use the main lodge or trek up the hill to RVR (The Office). There are numerous member generated activities and they are fun to participate in. Power in sections A,B,C is still not back to full capacity and many sites, several 50A, are bagged off and not usable. Water and sewer is still a problem. As we were leaving the CG two sites in H section were being bagged off due to sewer blockage and the campers had to find another site in a very full campground. H section has many long term, permanent residents with awnings, decks and patios.

Member generated activities include (not limited to) Cribbage, Wi Bowling, Card Bingo, Penny Pokeno, poker, pool tournaments, daily hikes, Radio Control Aircraft group and special events. We enjoy our stays here and will return. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

Cottonwood is nearby with plenty of dining out choices. State Route 260 is under construction between Camp Verde and Cottonwood. Highway is being widened and regraded, roundabouts built, and the speed limit is reduced considerably.

As a Thousand Trails member for a long time, sad to see so many spaces continuing to go to permanent residents. Many campsites look like trailer trash. The better sites aren't available for the regular Thousand Trail members. Many sites are closed because of a multi-year electrical problem.

This used to be one of the best Thousand Trails parks, now it just like so many more: tired and overrun by permanent residents. Encore should sell the Thousand Trails properties to someone who actually wants to run it as a viable membership entity. Though we do not have a 1000 Trails membership, we have stayed at a few through our RPI membership and have to say that this park was better than the others. It appeared to be well maintained, at least the grass was mowed and trimmed. But what I could not understand was why so many utility posts were out of order! The only benefit to us was that we did not have a neighbor on our door side! We were able to park our truck near our door, which was convenient, and still were on our site. We had a neighbor on the other side for a long weekend and when they had guests they had the guest park on our site, but they neglected to ask if that was alright with us! Nervy but we didn't say anything since we weren't using that space.

Since the campground area is in a valley we had NO Verizon signal. Every day we had to go over to the clubhouse and try and get on the parks wifi. It was very weak so it was less than satisfactory. We spent a week here and if the wifi were better we would come back, otherwise no! We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Rate shown was calculated using the Extended Stay package we purchased. We were at this part for 4 months during winter of 2016/2017. This park has huge potential if money would be invested into making the needed repairs and upgrades. As many have mentioned, the electric has been an issue for several years. While we were there, you could see work being done but by the time we checked out, nothing had changed. It was to our advantage that there were so many sites closed as it gave us tremendous privacy as most of the sites around us were closed. It seems most of the work is being done by Thousand Trails staff and that is making it take much longer. Very limited 50 amps available due to electric issues. There are many areas of the park where general maintenance needs to be done. Fencing is old and falling down, what could be cute landscaped areas have fallen into disrepair. The hot tub broke when we were there (we used it a lot) and was still broken when we checked out. The speed limit is strictly enforced for bicycles even on the long connecting roads where there are no campers around. We were "talked to" several times for going too fast on our bicycles (we are in our 50's, not kids) on the connecting roads (not in the campground area roads!). We ended up getting internet from a company called Speed Connect because the wi-fi and cell signal are so bad in the park. We refused to call it Speed Connect, it was just "Connect" to us! If you need to work from your campsite, I would strongly caution you about the poor internet options in this campground. It was incredibly frustrating. We did attend the card bingo often which was fun and we met some really great people. There are lots of permanent residents here and most kept their sites up very nice. Once they have all of the sites open and the electrical fixed, I would caution to check and see what sites are available. Sections A, B and C have back-to-back sites where your slides would be just inches apart. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Very nice checkin and also helpful staff at the activity center. Unfortunately pool was closed and so was jacuzzi. Our site was a "2 rig site", meaning a"double" pull thru where 2 rigs face apposite directions and share a power pole & water/sewer area. Our slides on that side were about 3' from the neighbor's rig. Thankfully, we had a quiet neighbor for our 5 day stay. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.
