We spend a lot of time here during the winter season. CG wi-fi is terrible unless you use the main lodge or trek up the hill to RVR (The Office). There are numerous member generated activities and they are fun to participate in. Power in sections A,B,C is still not back to full capacity and many sites, several 50A, are bagged off and not usable. Water and sewer is still a problem. As we were leaving the CG two sites in H section were being bagged off due to sewer blockage and the campers had to find another site in a very full campground. H section has many long term, permanent residents with awnings, decks and patios.

Member generated activities include (not limited to) Cribbage, Wi Bowling, Card Bingo, Penny Pokeno, poker, pool tournaments, daily hikes, Radio Control Aircraft group and special events. We enjoy our stays here and will return. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Cottonwood is nearby with plenty of dining out choices. State Route 260 is under construction between Camp Verde and Cottonwood. Highway is being widened and regraded, roundabouts built, and the speed limit is reduced considerably.

We've camped here several times and have always enjoyed it. The setting is in a valley with nice views around it, the sites are level and with full hook-ups. Yes, there are a lot of unusable sites due to electrical problems and wi-fi is a problem but we've always found a nice site and we went to the sales office at the top of the hill for good wi-fi. There are several cool trails through the campground and the pool was being enjoyed by lots of people. We enjoy this campground for its closeness to Sedona where we hike a lot. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

As a Thousand Trails member for a long time, sad to see so many spaces continuing to go to permanent residents. Many campsites look like trailer trash. The better sites aren't available for the regular Thousand Trail members. Many sites are closed because of a multi-year electrical problem.

This used to be one of the best Thousand Trails parks, now it just like so many more: tired and overrun by permanent residents. Encore should sell the Thousand Trails properties to someone who actually wants to run it as a viable membership entity. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Though we do not have a 1000 Trails membership, we have stayed at a few through our RPI membership and have to say that this park was better than the others. It appeared to be well maintained, at least the grass was mowed and trimmed. But what I could not understand was why so many utility posts were out of order! The only benefit to us was that we did not have a neighbor on our door side! We were able to park our truck near our door, which was convenient, and still were on our site. We had a neighbor on the other side for a long weekend and when they had guests they had the guest park on our site, but they neglected to ask if that was alright with us! Nervy but we didn't say anything since we weren't using that space.

Since the campground area is in a valley we had NO Verizon signal. Every day we had to go over to the clubhouse and try and get on the parks wifi. It was very weak so it was less than satisfactory. We spent a week here and if the wifi were better we would come back, otherwise no! We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate shown was calculated using the Extended Stay package we purchased. We were at this part for 4 months during winter of 2016/2017. This park has huge potential if money would be invested into making the needed repairs and upgrades. As many have mentioned, the electric has been an issue for several years. While we were there, you could see work being done but by the time we checked out, nothing had changed. It was to our advantage that there were so many sites closed as it gave us tremendous privacy as most of the sites around us were closed. It seems most of the work is being done by Thousand Trails staff and that is making it take much longer. Very limited 50 amps available due to electric issues. There are many areas of the park where general maintenance needs to be done. Fencing is old and falling down, what could be cute landscaped areas have fallen into disrepair. The hot tub broke when we were there (we used it a lot) and was still broken when we checked out. The speed limit is strictly enforced for bicycles even on the long connecting roads where there are no campers around. We were "talked to" several times for going too fast on our bicycles (we are in our 50's, not kids) on the connecting roads (not in the campground area roads!). We ended up getting internet from a company called Speed Connect because the wi-fi and cell signal are so bad in the park. We refused to call it Speed Connect, it was just "Connect" to us! If you need to work from your campsite, I would strongly caution you about the poor internet options in this campground. It was incredibly frustrating. We did attend the card bingo often which was fun and we met some really great people. There are lots of permanent residents here and most kept their sites up very nice. Once they have all of the sites open and the electrical fixed, I would caution to check and see what sites are available. Sections A, B and C have back-to-back sites where your slides would be just inches apart. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

We've been here a week so far and really like the park. Lots of closed sites due to electrical issues but it is apparent they are working on electrical upgrades. In fact, our post has both 30 amp and 50 amp outlets now but the 50 aml is not yet energized. Pool is closed for winter but we don't use pools anyway. Free WiFi in all three lodges. We are even able to get good WiFi from our site. Verizon is spotty from our site though. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you like hiking this area (Cottonwood, Sedona, etc.) is excellent for hiking. Hundreds or miles of trails. I recommend the Black Canyon trail if you like a strenuous trail. Jerome is definitely worth a visit. Approx. 2 hours from Grand Canyon, Meteor Crater and Phoenix.

Very nice checkin and also helpful staff at the activity center. Unfortunately pool was closed and so was jacuzzi. Our site was a "2 rig site", meaning a"double" pull thru where 2 rigs face apposite directions and share a power pole & water/sewer area. Our slides on that side were about 3' from the neighbor's rig. Thankfully, we had a quiet neighbor for our 5 day stay. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

We enjoy staying at this park - the only down side is that cell phone and internet access is not very good. We have a cellular booster, and that helps, but it is still marginal. We don't try using the park's wifi - we did the first time we stayed here and it was pretty bad, and we prefer using our own for privacy and security reasons anyway. It was beautiful weather in January. They were in the process of upgrading the electricity in many of the sites so there were a lot of sites that were unavailable, but hopefully the upgrades will provide an even better experience in the future. This camp has every amenity known, and it all works. It is very clean and well maintained. We had no problems at all in all had a good time. My only ill feeling was it seems to cater to long time visitors. A lot of them go in using Thousand Trails. When their time is up the move to Bureau of Land Management land at the top of the hill - it is dry camping. Then, as soon as possible they move back down into the RV park. Transients like us, who stayed only a couple of days are not welcomed by either the residents or the staff. About 10 am on our last day a couple approached us and asked when we were going to vacate their site. They were coming back from the top of the hill and wanted their site back. They had fixed it up with stones around it and had planted some flowers. Checkout time is noon. It's a little strange. But, they were very polite and said 'please vacate our site'. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Cottonwood, AZ?

Well, Sedona is nearby. Try the restaurant at the airport. Or, better take a helicopter ride for a tour of the area.

We have an annual Thousand Trails membership. After a year of trying it out, we renewed for 4 years. Basically, we live in Scottsdale & come up to Sedona where we store our camper. This place is extremely clean. Bathrooms, rec. rooms, etc. The pool is fantastic, there are plenty of activities, & for the most part it's great.

Too many full-timers for my liking, & you can't reserve sites. Other than that, it's a pretty great place. Cottonwood & Walmart are 10 minutes away for supplies, Sedona is 20-30 minutes, and I-17 about 10 min. They keep telling me lower sites, closer to pool, down the hill, will all be ready by 11/2016. We'll see. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Travel Trailer.

There are both pull through and back in sites; they try to utilize the sites back to back so the street sides are together and you are looking at your neighbor's front yard. There are a lot of full time resident. The electric aspect was OK and water quality was good. The park is trying to put in more 50amp sites but the local electric company will not update the park's electric so there are many sites unavailable. As with all TT, they have a nice pool and recreation area. They are fairly close to the Verde River but it's brown and unappealing. It's kind of a long walk to get to it, down the mountain and into a wash, then to the river. There are walking trails through the mountains surrounding the park. The best place to let your dogs run loose is in the wash area. The sites are nice and level. The only thing we did not like was the unfriendly full time residents, and the signs all over the grassy areas "no pets on grass." These signs are not just by the main recreation areas, but next to RV sites. They do have a small dog park and grassy area for the dogs around it, but it's not very convenient. The wifi at your campsite was almost non-existent; no cable and not many TV stations. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Travel Trailer.

This Thousand Trails charges you $5 a day for 50 amp service! Also, charges $2.00 for every piece of mail delivered to you. Restaurant is closed in the family life center. Because the swimming pool is located far away from the main section of the campground, you have to take your car to get to it! Grounds are kept neat. Lost power twice while staying here. No internet available except in the family life center and it is very spotty, at best. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Made reservations in January, and the park was unable to provide me my 50 amp service when I arrived. Park is under construction and electricity is intermittent. Road diverted around the park. Security personnel checked us in and were helpful. First come, first served, as sites are not assigned. Lots of permanent residents. Would NOT recommend staying here till construction has been completed. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

Been here a couple of times in the autumn. Park has electrical issues with Arizona Power so many sites are off line. Restaurant is closed. Not many activities. Permanent residents have their set routines. Little opportunities for kids. Lots of infrastructure repairs needed. Manager trying to get things done but corporate isn't allocating the funds. New recreation person is trying to get organized and plan activities. The concrete and pavement at entrance was replaced. Nearly all good sites are taken by permanent or seasonal use thus limit better sites. Many sites need levelling. We were there during the annual sheep crossing where 2000 sheep utilize a right of way through the park for the annual trek from Tucson to Williams. It was interesting. No plans to return to the area. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

The facilities are amazing. The buildings all look new. Great staff. The pool is quite nice. The Jacuzzi jets were broken when we were there but it was nice and hot. The camp store is good. About 70 sites are unusable since the place has an insufficient electrical feed in. Must reserve and pay for 50 amp.

There are not many activities scheduled, and few on the weekends. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.
