One of the nicest parks I have visited. Lots of space and all sites are pull thru's. Some of the first sites do not have much shade so ask for the tree sites if you hope to have some shade. Heritage Trail that can be accessed through the fence is excellent for a short hike. It is about two miles long so come prepared but there is lots of wildlife including snakes. Very clean and accessible washer & shower area. Excellent service, absolutely a 10+. We camped at Apache Flats RV Resort (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

A beautiful clean park located in southern AZ. Sites are concrete, level, long and spacious. Picnic table, free wi-fi and cable tv. Small dirt dog dog park but lots of walking trails around the park are great for the dog. Surrounded by mountains. Nice laundry and shower facilities. Large base with great commissary, exchange, diesel, propane, post office, bowling alley, pool, fitness center and even a riding stable. Great location for visiting Tombstone, Bisbee, ghost towns and much more. We camped at Apache Flats RV Resort (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Part of the military famcamp so you must be active, reserve or retired so stay here. We were only going to stay a week but enjoyed it so much we extended for 10'additional days. The sites are all pull through and very spacious. Showers and laundry were very clean. We experienced some beautiful sunsets while we were here. The cable tv choices were very limited. Most everyone has dogs and the dog areas were pretty small and had lots of sticker/burrs so that was a challenge. The pads were concrete and level and their was a concrete pad and picnic table at every site. We will definitely come back! We camped at Apache Flats RV Resort (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

A very nice campground on the Army post of Ft. Huachuca and is open to guests but you must register at the front gate prior to admittance to the base. The RV park is very reasonable priced and is basic in most respects. The concrete pads made leveling the RV easy. Drives are all asphalt through out the park. A pool is available on the post, but not at the campground. Due to a change in weed control, the campground has a significant problem with goat head burrs. We camped at Apache Flats RV Resort (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The post requires each person to have an ID card for access on to the post. The ID card is obtained upon arrival at the front gate. You are required to complete a form and they run a brief background check prior to issuing the ID card. No a big problem. There is easy RV parking at the front gate.

The military campgrounds are a real bargain, and very well maintained. Apache Flats is no exception. With 65 level, pull through, full hook up sites this is a winter home for many active duty and military retirees. The centrally located office also houses the laundry and clean restrooms and showers. There is a very small dog park, but a nice walking trail around the rv park which provides adequate exercise on leash. Especially nice was a walking path that wound through the campground with low lights to aid your passage at night. No need to walk all the way to the end of the row to get to the office or restroom, and provided just enough ambient light at night. We camped at Apache Flats RV Resort (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Fort Huachuca has two museums. The first reviews the history of the base, and includes a free audio walking tour of historic buildings on the base. The second, which we enjoyed even more, is on military intelligence. And if you happen to be there in early March, make sure to attend the Cochise College Rodeo...the only rodeo competition held on a military base anywhere in the world.

I cannot say enough good things about this park. It is clean, quiet, and because it is on the Ft. Huachuca army base it is very safe. The parking pads are wide and flat. The only marginal thing we experienced was with the wifi which was a little sketchy but got better towards the end of our stay. Sites 51 - 56 are further from the wifi transmitter and seem to suffer with signal strength. Having the commissary on base made stocking up on food and drink a breeze. We thoroughly enjoyed the wildlife in and around the park. We saw deer, javalina, and all sorts of birds pretty much on a daily basis. The restrooms, showers, and laundry were well maintained and always spotless. If you have access to military facilities I highly recommend this park. This is one of the nicest campgrounds we have stayed in. All hookups worked well. There was cable TV and a small gym right on site. The WiFi was hit and miss, depending on the time of day you try to use it. There is lots of history on the post and The Buffalo Soldier Museum with a post audio tour to follow was very nice. Tips for other Campers:

Go to Kartchner Caverns, Tombstone, and Bisbee. The Queen Mine tour in Bisbee was fun. Although we didn't do it, you could drive another 50 miles south to the border town of Nogales and take a walk across into Mexico.

If campground laundromat is too busy, go to the laundromat next to the Class VI store. Lots of machines, very quiet, inexpensive. Best laundromat we've ever been in.

We just spent a week at Apache Flats. The sites are close to level, cement with a picnic table, and long enough for rig and tow vehicle. Streets are one-way. Small doggie areas spread around the perimeter. Well maintained and kept by host. Wi-Fi is new this month and they are working the bugs out. Good reception in the main office/laundry/library area and depending on how far away your site is. We were told that repeaters would be installed soon. Walking trails around the park. Near the base facilities and not far from the town of Sierra Vista for other shopping. We really enjoyed our stay and will return next time we are in the area. Very popular place and reservations are recommended! We camped at Apache Flats RV Resort (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Outstanding comes to mind. Well designed, well maintained, so quiet and peaceful. The gal that runs the place has a great personality. She has many repeat visitors and they all seem to have a great time together. Lot's of ad hoc activities like card games, holiday partys, and local dinner trips. Best military park I have stayed in. I hear there are better but I have trouble attempting to visualize better. We camped at Apache Flats RV Resort (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Fort Huachuca is way out in the boondocks and the RV camp is way out on one edge of the huge base. We loved it! If you want quiet, this is the place. We went to Tombstone (20 miles away) and did the tourist thing. It was pretty good, but even better are the two military museums on the post. I very highly recommend them. They're free, and they're awesome. Also, visit the base cemetery, with graves from the 1880s, and drive up Reservoir Hill for a spectacular view. We camped at Apache Flats RV Resort (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

This is definitely a nice park; we wish we could have stayed here for a month. Hard to get into and you need to reserve in advance. Everything was there from concrete pads, FHU, and cable. Downside was no WIFI; had to go to the post library to access WI-FI. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We hope to return next year and stay a month or two. Very nicely run park, clean, lots of activities to participate in, nice large hard-stands. Camp host is extremely nice and offers lots of information about the area and the fort and suggestions of places to see while in the area. Probably the only ding were the trees needed some manicuring, but this could be seasonal. We ended up having to back out to get out of our site or run the risk of scratching the heck out of the passenger side of the coach. Would definitely stay here again. This is one of the nicest parks we have stayed at. Coming from an asphault parking lot, with neighbors a slide and a half away, this is what camping is all about and what it should be. We camped at Apache Flats RV Resort (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.
