Stayed 2 nights at the North Rim in their final week of operation. Site #11, an outside side near the premium sites on the canyon edge. All sites in the park are pull thru. Huge level site, plenty of room between the trailer and the picnic table/fire ring. Lots of pine needles for fire kindling. Excellent Verizon 4G wireless service (reportedly there's a Verizon tower in the area). No hookups, but that's what we wanted. Nice shade with the many trees, comfortable during the day, crisp/cool at night. Campsites were all clean as were the restrooms. General store well stocked, even for late in the season. Only real down side was that the diesel fuel price was jacked up from $2.99 to $3.26 overnight for our departure date. Ended up fueling up at the Kaibab General Store for $2.89 -- it's 7 miles outside the park. We camped at North Rim Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

If you're making reservations, look for the "premium" sites near the canyon edge. Not too close, but close enough for a view. Also look for an outside of the loop site if possible.

We stayed here in our 21' Travel Trailer. We did not have reservation but had called ahead and the NPS employee told us that sites do open up day of due to cancellations. We made our way to the campground, with a few National Forest campgrounds down the road as backups. We arrived around noon and we were in luck as one site was open. The NPS employee cautioned us that it was a "21 foot site" so our trailer would just fit and probably not our truck. Also, that our site was on a "shared loop" so we split the pull through driveway with our neighbor. We took it anyway and after paying headed over to check it out. The outer loop of this campground has large, easy to access pull through sites. The inner loops are much tighter. We were on an inner loop. Luckily we had no neighbors at our shared loop at the time and were able to pull completely through their side and onto ours, leaving our truck on the outside rather than trapped. It was tight getting around the trees and if we had a much longer trailer, we would not have gotten it in there. The campground was very quiet and I think there were lots of open spots as the temps were getting down pretty cold at night and the lodge and many services closed the second day we were there. Overall, we really enjoyed visiting this campground and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon is the way to go if you want to avoid the massive crowds. We camped at North Rim Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

First time we've stayed at the North Rim while camping. With school back in session, the park was very quiet and there seemed to be a lot of 1-2 night visitors (lots of turnover each day). The spaces needed lots of leveling, I used 4/5 lego blocks in Space 12 and was still a half bubble off. Although the CG is dog-friendly, this is one of the more restrictive NPS sites for pets. The round-trip walk to the lodge is about 3 miles. The flip side is we did a 9 mile hike up the Arizona Trail on Saturday and did not run across another person (the non-rim, non-canyon hikes are less popular). The restrooms were in very good condition; however, the air-powered hand dryers are very loud so avoid spots really close to them. Also we did not see the Hosts doing any maintenance for the sites. We camped at North Rim Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

If you want a sunrise or sunset partial view of the canyon without going to the lodge, go to the very South end of the Tent-Only section and you'll find a nice view and a bench to enjoy it. Also stop at the Jacob Lake restaurant and buy their amazing cookies.

We stayed here 5 nights and loved the camping feeling. Getting around with a large trailer is a little tight, but doable. The campsites are not level and require a bit of positioning to get in place. The campsite had a fire ring/grill and a picnic table. We were in space 23 which doesn't have the best view, but is about 200 yards from the north rim. It is a very private site on the outside of the loop. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at North Rim Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

We spend a week at this campground every year. Reservations must be made 6 months in advance. The camp hosts were not being as vigilant this year cleaning out used fire rings.

Make sure you have everything you need before your trip; otherwise, you will be paying inflated prices at the small grocery in the park. We camped at North Rim Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful park. We stayed in site 16 which was a rim view site. The view from the campsite was amazing. The Transept Trail runs right beside the picnic table and firepit at this site, so expect lots of hikers to walk by. That did not bother us. The view and size of the campsite was worth it. I would highly recommend this campground. We stayed here 3 nights, We camped at North Rim Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

If you are visiting the North Rim, this is you closest option. The campground is very nice, with no hook-ups. The paved roads and pads (along with trees) make some of the driving and parking tight, but the sites are generally large and well spaced out with shade. The shade did interfere some with our top mounted solar panels, but they do allow limited generator use (2 hrs AM / 2 hrs PM). The campground has a dump and freshwater station that is a bit tight but functional. Sites are not all that level. Only a few sites have limited views of the Canyon. The campground has a nice general store, pay showers, and laundry. It is about a 1.2 mile hike from the visitor's center and lodge. The north rim is far away from most major services, but they do have a small gas station on site. We stopped in Kanab for groceries and propane before arriving. The pace of the campground is more relaxed than many of the other NP campgrounds we have visited. The facility has laundry and pay showers. We camped at North Rim Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

We were staying at this park during the Great Government Shutdown of 2013. It is a lovely park with no hookups, but good paved roads and driveways. The pads were unlevel, and after we spent some time leveling, we entertained ourselves watching other rigs go back and forth trying to level. The spaces are large and it is only 1+ miles to the Lodge and visitor center so it is very convenient. An absolutely beautiful setting. We would stay in this park again. Price indicates Senior 1/2 price rate. We camped at North Rim Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

The campground was excellent, great store and bathrooms in every loop area. The only drawback was the pay showers have no heads on them in either men or women side. Water comes out a open pipe and is very forceful. Sites are uneven and require front and side leveling. We camped at North Rim Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Wonderful experience! No hookups, No pool, No activities, but what a place! Well kept NPS campground, very busy, but not hectic. Lots of shade in the tall pines, and very cool for being in the AZ desert. Hope to go again soon. We camped at North Rim Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

When we arrived, there were no available sites. We hovered at the registration area and learned that a camper was leaving a day early and he said we could take his site, which he had reserved last November. It was the best site in the park (site #18) with a clear view of the Canyon and easy access to the trails. Huge, private area in front of the camper. Literally, you could throw a stone and it would go into the Canyon. The strength of this park is clearly location, location, location. The setting is beautiful, and frankly, we think this is what camping is all about. Be prepared for limited electric and water. Generator hours are limited to two hours in the evening and two hours in the morning. Bathrooms are clean. You have to pay for showers and laundry. If you don't have a reservation, plan to get there at 9 a.m. and hover at the registration area. Don't be afraid to take a chance, as there are plenty of other options outside of the park, both in the national forest and shortly outside of the gates. There is no question that this is a fabulous campsite. For those very adventurous, there is a shuttle that takes you from one Rim to the other. If you want an exciting experience, plan to hike Rim-to-Rim. The record Rim-to-Rim trip was a little over 3 hours and has stood for decades. Plan for it to take a little longer, but you can easily get shuttled. A lot of pets in this park. (That was the only negative aspect for us!) Beautiful stars. Gas station in convenient location, and nice store within walking distance of the sites. Check the corner gas station for the nightly cookout. Plan to eat at least one meal at the Lodge, because the view is fantastic. Morning sunrise at the Lodge is a high recommendation. Plenty of Ranger programs available for family. The staff and the volunteers are simply the best! (Almost makes me proud to pay taxes!) Without a doubt, we will stay here any time we travel to the Canyon. We camped at North Rim Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Weather was perfect so no electric wasn't a big deal. Great campground with the lots very spread out. When we were there, there was no vacancy, but it didn't seem crowded at all. We met two other families that had been to the South Rim and they said the North Rim was so much better. It was less crowded and cooler. We were in lot 47. Lots 14, 15, 11, 12, 13 (in that order) would be better picks. They have a view, but also have a steep hill behind them. Might not be a good choice with small children. As National Park campgrounds go, Grand Canyon North is great. You get no hookups so polish up your boon docking skills, but camping in the quiet forest 100 yards from the canyon rim makes up for skimping on water. The campground store is friendly, very reasonably priced and has wireless internet access. I don't know if it's an "official" store service, but the store has an outlet strip where you can plug in to charge batteries. We camped there beginning on opening day of the season so the contracted staff was still working out the kinks in the coin-operated showers ($1.50 for 7 minutes). The shower quality and consistency improved over the four days we stayed there. The laundromat worked fine. All the RV sites are paved: our hybrid travel trailer required a single 2x8 under the right-side tires for leveling. I recommend this park and the North Rim in general to anyone looking for a laid-back way to enjoy the Grand Canyon without the crowds of the South Rim. We camped at North Rim Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

What a beautiful location! Widely separated sites under the tall Ponderosa Pines. All RV sites are paved pull throughs, although ours was very unlevel. No hookups, but a good water fill-up point and dump station are at the entrance. Flush toilets are available and a nice general store, pay showers, and laundromat are very close by. The lodge and visitor center are about a mile away. The CG is only open during the Summer and Fall and reservations must be made a good bit in advance with payment in advance. Many sites are for tents only. We camped at North Rim Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.
