Better than I expected from a concessionaire-operated NP campground. Still, lack of friendless on check-in and scare tactics about parking and wildlife were unnecessary. If you want to stay in the park, this is your only option for trailers or motor homes. Make reservations far in advance (we made ours 5 months ahead). It was sold out the entire time we were there. Paved sites mostly level. Nice spacing in the area we stayed on K row. Picnic table and grass all around. Be prepared for grazing Elk to wander through your site. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Original site so steep that leveling was impossible; we had to ask for a different site, which was done. No convenient place for dumping trash, which was particularly inconvenient for those of us who clean up after our dogs. None of: fenced dog area, pool (although we saw people in bathing suits?), snack bar, playground, WiFi. No A T & T signal. Also no store, but the market is only one shuttle bus stop away. All sites are 50 amp; the registration desk has converters for units needing 30 amp, but we couldn't tell if there was ever an issue of their running out of those. (Bring one's own?) Staff person at the desk talked about charging us a half-day for leaving late but then did not do so. One can walk to the rim or use the very convenient shuttle. Despite its minimal provisions it really is the best way to visit the Grand Canyon. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

We had much higher hopes for Trailer Village before we arrived but, from the moment we parked, it was one disappointment after another. 1) The site was so out of level we never could get our 42' rig level front to back; 2) the 50 amp power had a weak leg (their own maintenance guy measured it at 104v) which kept triggering our EMS to shut down the power to protect our appliances from under-voltage; 3) The only good thing about the park is its proximity to the canyon itself, and we found a half dozen perfect boondocking spots on forest roads in the area that are far prettier, just as close and a lot more level than their site, so we'll be staying there instead next time. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

If you've never seen the Grand Canyon you must see it. Our third time. Stayed 3 days in a 43' motorhome. Access park from the south on HWY 89 from Williams. Check-in at the front booth was fast and easy. Big Rig friendly, paved roads. Our site was level, some shade. Utilities worked well. No cable, no ATT service poor OTA channels. Lots of wildlife... mornings you'll see Elk walking around CG. Good bus system to park areas. Use the buses instead of car to get to where you want to go. Be aware, rude drivers, saw several instances where groups were separated because once drivers close doors they leave. You'll stay busy, lots to do and see. This time there was a fire restriction so no campfires were allowed. The visitors center has good info movie. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

$51 for a full service 50 amp pull-through site Trailer Village is a typical concession operated National Park campground with RV's lined up side-by-side-by-side. There is, however, enough space to have a picnic table and BBQ/fire pit between each site. A few sites even have trees that offer some privacy and shade. Most of the interior roads and sites are paved; despite this leveling blocks are a common sight. They are expanding the campground into an area that previously housed staff and contract workers. At this point these sites are gravel. I was surprised that cable TV is also provided at each site. Restrooms at Trailer Village do not have showers. Showers and laundry facilities are located a short distance away at Mather campground. And their hours of operation are much improved since our last visit in 2012 with both now open until 10pm. The grocery store at Market Plaza is extremely well stocked with fresh meat, produce, dairy, etc., and prices are quite reasonable, with the exception of ice at $5 a bag. WiFi is absolutely terrible at the hotspots within the park. However, the library has half decent WiFi - slow but MUCH faster than the advertized hotspots within the park. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

Clean, well-run, well-maintained park. Spaces not on top of each other. Scattered shade. We used full hook-ups. Wifi was not operational. Managed to get local news. No AT&T coverage. Employer reports that the only cell phone towers in the area are Verizon. We stayed in site 61, which had an area close by for dogs to walk. Shuttle will pick you up at the entrance to Trailer Village and take you wherever you like along the rim for free. Market PLaza (grocery, beer, ice, knick knacks) is within walking distance. My favorite campground so far of our five week trip. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We always eat at El Tovar. Somewhat pricey but it's nice to have a sit down meal with a white tablecloth from time to time when camping. The kennels at the Grand Canyon are clean, well-run, reliable. Our dogs survived one night with no problem. The people -- Maswick Lodge, Security, and Kennel Attendant we are all easy to work with.

All the sites that I saw were pull throughs. It is very close to a shuttle stop. You never have to drive anywhere. The picnic tables are chained to the ground. Ours was placed in a weird spot close to our neighbor's utility hook up on big rocks. Luckily, I had a set of wrenches to remove the chain to get our table under our awning. Fire rings have been removed and the grill wrapped in plastic due to high fire danger. Big elk wander around water hook ups looking for a drink. Great location and full hook up. We did not have a shady spot but some did. Our cable didn't work but they were quick to offer discount and did repair. Saw a lot of elk in the park everyday. Convenient to free shuttle, no view of canyon but full hook up and ability to be at canyon all hours of the day. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

We enjoyed our time at Grand Canyon. The nice thing about the RV Park is that it is away from the hustle and bustle and the crowds, but still within walking distance of Mather Point and the Visitor Center, along an asphalt pathway. The bathrooms were dated but clean and well kept. We used the shuttle bus service for commuting. There is a stop at the RV Park. They have cable hookup as well. Cell reception is better closer to the main facilities, but is actually quite nice to be disconnected. After all, you are there to enjoy nature!!!! Our camp site was pull-thru and fairly level with enough space to park our vehicle. To beat the crowds, get up early and go to the far ends of the park! One thing we enjoyed a lot was the starry night skies! Go to the rim at night and enjoy the Milky Way!!! We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

We had an end site with a large treed area on our driver's side which offered nice shade for a good portion of the day. Our site was barely long enough and we are only 35', but we did fit. We had to park our truck cross ways in front of the fifth wheel, which is what everyone else was doing also. Some of the longer fifth wheels and motor homes were sticking out a bit past the end of their sites. Sites were close but not so close you felt like you were setting on top of your neighbor. But not so spacious that it was convenient and pleasant for sitting outside, but many did. We also saw that quite a few people started fires even though the fire warning was high. No rangers came around and monitored though so nothing was done. This was a good area for the convenience to walking to the shuttle or driving to the rim drive. We did find it a nice area to walk our dogs and people did seem to pick up after them and sites were kept clean. We felt the cost was reasonable for the proximity to GC Village and the South rim walk. We would definitely stay here again if we return to the Grand Canyon. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Numerous elk frequent the park in the evenings or early morning. Twice we came out our door to come very close to elk grazing next to our fifth wheel. Ravens are everywhere and they tell you not to leave your sewer hose down as the ravens will peck holes in it. They are huge birds and quite curious.

All interior roads and pads are asphalt with little leveling required. Did not use showers or restrooms so can not comment on condition or cleanliness. Campground itself had everything you need except wifi, cable was good with plenty of Channels. Wifi is available at Yavapai Lodge which is a 5 minute walk from campground. Our site was quite shaded but we enjoy sunny sites, most sites we observed would have suited us better. There is only 1 garbage can located near the check-in office. Recycling and garbage all go in one dumpster, for a National Park you would think recycling would be a no-brainer. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

The best part about this campground is that it is inside the park. The park is clean and is better for RV's than Mather, in my opinion. Its a great way to maximize your time at the Grand Canyon. Stayed for a week and it was well worth the cost. One thing you will not find is a fire ring. No fires were allowed during our stay. What a surprise! We expected a rustic campground with only electricity - and were very impressed to find a relatively new, well planned campground with level lots and full (convenient) hook-ups. Regular, free, bus service to all the major locations including a reasonably well-stocked supermarket! Campground is still under development, but the newer area is very pleasant despite the (climate induced) limited number of shade tree. Waking up to find elk grazing a few feet from the trailer is a great way to start the day! We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.
