Pretty average KOA. Sewer connection was set up really high above ground. Bathrooms were dated but clean, fair water pressure for shower. Laundry was clean, well-kept. Very nice gift shop and groceries/cold drinks. Easy drive to Safeway and fast food and gas. My only complaint was that the place was practically deserted and they crammed all of us that were there (about 6) into one row side by side - maybe everyone requested near the bathrooms like we did?? We camped at Holbrook / Petrified Forest KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Petrified Forest & painted desert are nearby (40 minute drive). Canyon de Chelly is quite a drive (practically 2 hours) - - -but the rock formations were breathtaking second only to Grand Canyon. Hubbell trading Post is a MUST - so interesting and they have wonderful Navajo Rugs/wallhangings for sale.

We stayed here to visit The Painted Desert/Petrified Forest national park. Other than an over night stop, it's the only reason to stay here. That being said, the staff was very nice and accommodating. The CG is a big gravel parking lot. It reminded me of a drive in theater. Actually, I have fond memories of drive ins (another story). We were in the first row sites 1 - 10. They are OK length wise but very narrow. Our awning overlapped into the adjoining site. We were in site 8. The cable did not work and the power was intermittent - not good. The owner came right out to assess the situation - very good. We were so close to sight 9 that we just plugged into the cable and power in that site. The owner blocked out site 9 so we were able to just stay where we were. All the other sites were quite spacious and would have been much better. We would stay here again with the caveat that we would insist on another row. We camped at Holbrook / Petrified Forest KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Go to the Painted Desert/Petrified Forest national park. We did not know what to expect, but it was great.
Also, the best restaurant in town is "Mesa Restaurant Italiana". It was a great surprise and the Italiana chef wife was very pleased. Both the calamari and the mussels were great. Trip advisor agrees.

We have stayed here about five times. Good location. Close to the freeway but not too noisy. Sites are gravel, but compacted and not a bunch of dirt. They serve food here for breakfast and dinner. We camped at Holbrook / Petrified Forest KOA in a Motorhome.

The park has gravel roads and sites. Our site was not quite level and for a pull through it was very short and narrow. We had to un- hook and park the car in front. We park this way often, but we've had room and didn't stick out on road! I find the price high.

Nice staff, place was very clean and quiet, they offer a cheap pancake breakfast and a small menu for dinner. No problem with setting up our satellite. We camped at Holbrook / Petrified Forest KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Surprisingly, I don't recall ever staying here before. Personally, I do not appreciate reviews like a recent one that says this is like a "drive in" parking lot. It is quite misleading. While there are not a lot of trees, there are dozens of sites that have small trees and/or shrubs between them. There are a variety (FHU, W&E only, pull through, back in, etc.) of RV site types. There are also about a dozen cabins/lodges and several dozen tent sites. We had a level, gravel, FHU, pull through site with 35 channel cable TV. Most sites are satellite friendly. Beside the bathrooms and showers in the main building, there is a second, seasonal bathhouse near the tenting section. This park has the usual KOA recreational facilities - (closed for the season) pool, playground, horseshoes, volleyball, basketball, etc. There is a K9 dog park. The have a cafe that serves a "cowboy cookout" and a pancake breakfast. The WIFI worked fine for us until it got dark. The staff I dealt with were friendly and helpful. The only recycling I saw was for aluminum cans. We camped at Holbrook / Petrified Forest KOA in a Motorhome.

Very convenient to I-40 and Petrified Forest National Park. This campground is nothing special, pretty much a gravel parking lot, but is totally fine for an overnight visit. The KOA staff is friendly. They offer a breakfast and dinner service--we didn't join but it looked good. They have planted new trees which will add to the overall appearance. Our complaint about this KOA is that they pack overnighters into one section--most of the campground is empty, and yet we are squeezed within a few feet of neighbors on both sides. Not sure why they couldn't spread us out a bit? It's tight....no fires allowed, but frankly there's no space to really have one if you have a neighbor. Our picnic table was inches from the neighbor's hookups. Since the campground has easy access to I-40, you can see and hear the interstate, but the noise from the interstate is not bad....the noise from all the overnighters pulling out at 7am is much worse. We camped at Holbrook / Petrified Forest KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Employee at desk was nice and helpful. Wifi was real weak and unable to use.

Attempted to make online reservations and stated unavailable. I called and they had plenty of spots available. Great dog run. Clean restrooms. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Holbrook / Petrified Forest KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Staff was easy to work with. Sites are gravel. Cable and wifi worked good. Good location to visit Petrified Forest and Painted Desert Natl Park. Not much else going on in Holbrook. You only really need 2 nights, but we stayed 3 to hang out and relax a day and use the pool. We would stay here again. We camped at Holbrook / Petrified Forest KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Level site (didn't have to unhitch). A fairly secure area. The utilities ok, satellite reception ok. Site roughly 65 x 30, gravel and dirt. Great location, easy off and on to I-40. We camped at Holbrook / Petrified Forest KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here for a few days while visiting the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert. The sites are gravel with enough room between sites. We had an end site, which gave us a great view of the surrounding landscape. This is close to the I-40, but freeway noise was not an issue. The dog park on the north end has grass, which the dogs loved. They also have a gravel dog run on the south side. We camped at Holbrook / Petrified Forest KOA in a Motorhome.

Sites are not clearly delineated and therefore moving around the park can be difficult. The sites are very close to each other and because of the mess in how everyone parks differently. Our neighbor tried everything to try and fit next to us and finally changed sites. We were lucky enough to have an end site which I recommend you request. I was surprised to find that our site didn't have cable although we always request a full hook-up site. The park is close to I-40 but it's not a problem with noise. We camped at Holbrook / Petrified Forest KOA in a Motorhome.

It's a KOA, so it's expensive and campers are like sardines. But, given the other options in the area I was OK with it. The pool is large and well kept. There is an older playground, but it is in great shape. Laundry facilities cost roughly $3 wash & dry, but worked nicely. Perhaps the best feature of this park was the "restaurant". It's a shack but they have an all you can eat pancake breakfast special. I think it was $3/ person. They can crank out good pancakes quickly. They are cooked on a flat top with real batter, not shake & pour from a bottle. If you stay there, you have to go there for breakfast. Other than that, overpriced in my opinion for the space and ambiance, but again probably the best in the area. The campground is convenient to shopping and Petrified Forest Nat'l Park. Good basic KOA, tucked a bit out of the way, but nice. Had a good (dirt) dog walking area. Pull-through sites were a bit tight and not quite long enough for many rigs, but everybody made do. If you have whiners, may be a problem.. Great customer service and cool place to visit. We camped at Holbrook / Petrified Forest KOA in a Motorhome.
