Location, location. location. This is a woodsy RV park with the only full hookup sites near the North Rim. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The sites were uneven, dirt or gravel and dusty due to an adjoining gravel forest road. I would have rated this campground a 7, but the electric power at our site was very poor. Even using propane for our refrig and hot water the power usually was 105-110 volts. Mid day it was higher, but immediately fell if any appliance was turned on. We camped at Kaibab CampeRVillage in a Fifth Wheel.

Private RV park that is accessed by a 1/2 mile dirt road. We were thrilled to get a spot here because the park was full and we did not have a reservation. Suggest you consider having a reservation in advance if you are going to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. No wi-fi and no cable but full hookup. You were required to have a support system for your sewer hose which we did not so they "loaned" us one from their office for $60 that was refunded the next day when we returned it. Park is only open seasonally - May 15 to October 15. We camped at Kaibab CampeRVillage in a Motorhome.

You are in a forest and they are the only rv park with full hook ups. Though not all sites have full hook ups, nor will many of you be able to use the satellite dish, do to the trees. You are on a dusty, dirt surface so I think it could probably get slippery in the rain. We had a big pine on our full-wall slide side, but by moving around we leveled, and all slides missed the 4 trees around us. We were part of a rally so no idea of cost. We camped at Kaibab CampeRVillage in a Motorhome.

Roads and sites are gravel. Sites are not level, but there's lots of trees. Cell phones work, but no cable or TV via antenna. Road to the campground is 3/4 mile gravel, with lots of potholes. The North Rim is 45 miles from the CG. We camped at Kaibab CampeRVillage in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $36.00

Made the reservation five months in advance and arrived to find I got the worst site in the park; barely long enough for my 19' travel trailer and right by the entrance. Also not very level. As we were getting unhitched, the two large dogs in the trailer next to us barked and whined and continued intermittently until the owners returned late afternoon. I went to the office to ask if I could have a different site; the answer was a very rude NO, unless I would take water/electric.

The second day, we returned from the North Rim to whining, howling, barking, so obviously, nothing was done to inform the owners of the dogs not to leave them alone again. (The information sheet each camper gets at check-in specifically states animals must be quiet and not left unattended.)

I travel with four dogs, but they go everywhere with us, as we know they can be a nuisance. It is up the campground to enforce the rules; they failed.

Perhaps you will be luckier here than I was. We camped at Kaibab CampeRVillage in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Good meals and wide selection of Navajo made craft goods at Jacob Lake Inn. If he is giving a talk during your stay, very insightful to attend one of Inn owner John Rich, Jr's evening sessions. Grandson of Inn's founder (Inn opened in 1923) and has 40+ years experience as gift shop's buyer. Good storyteller who respects the skills and mores of Navajo artisans with whom he has dealt for more than four decades.

Campground doesn't offer much other than proximity to the North Rim and some nice Ponderosa pines. Bumpy dirt road access. Pit showers and pay showers - no thank you. No WiFi and spotty at best Verizon. Sites VERY close. We arrived the day they opened for the season so most sites were empty still. Our site proved difficult to get into, super close to what we knew would be someone else's slide right at our front door (3' away), and it was very hard to find level, but the seasonal attendant guy wouldn't let us move to a more spacious site - took the attitude that he was clearly doing us a favor for the privilege of letting us stay here. We would not return. We camped at Kaibab CampeRVillage in a Motorhome.

The showers are expensive, the toilets are portapottys. But I would definitely stay here again. It was beautiful. No ATT cell, no WiFi, no TV - just nature. The hosts are very nice, but the owner is absentee, so if a real problem occurs, you may be out of luck. Pretty tight for most lots. Many lots are not very level. All lots are shaded by 60+ foot ponderosa pines. We camped at Kaibab CampeRVillage in a Motorhome.

The pictures on the internet were really nice and the lady on the phone when I made reservations was pleasant, answered all my questions and was very helpful. But when we arrived the park did not live up to the pictures. Yes, the sites have electric, water and sewer, not an easy thing I'm sure up in the woods. But, the sites are all jammed in together, only more or less level, no room for individual fire rings or to comfortably set out a mat and a few chairs. Very cramped. The location is so beautiful but I would only recommend this park, despite it's friendly employees, for someone who has to have electric for some reason. We left early because it was so unpleasant and of course the park refused us any refund even though as crowded as it was I am sure they got double pay for the night we didn't use. I would suggest the Forest Service Campground a mile away as a better choice even though it does not have hookups. We camped at Kaibab CampeRVillage in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

I would suggest the Forest Service Campground a mile away as a even though it does not have hookups. The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is only 40 miles away and Zion National Park is about 60 miles north. The Vermillion Cliffs where the California Condors are being reinstated is nearby and there is a viewing site where they can sometimes be seen.

For a quiet, cool stay nestled among whispering pines, this is the place for you. Nearest full-hookup park to the Grand Canyon North Rim and great jumping off point for Vermilion Cliffs and Pipe Springs national monuments, etc. If you cannot abide the lack of satellite (those whispering pines, again), Wi-Fi or a 50-amp hookup, this is not the place for you. We had a great ten days but blew out a month's worth of Verizon hot spot data. Nearest groceries 37 miles away in Kanab, UT, closest package liquor at the Buckskin Bar in north Fredonia, 32 miles.

Fuel available less than a mile from the camp. Yes, there is a 1/2 mile of bumpy road to get to Kaibab CamperVillage but it's worth it.

Visit the alternate National Park viewing sites, Point Imperial and Port Royal. Many driveable trails in the adjoining National Forest will take you to beautiful and nearly deserted Grand Canyon viewing points. Great maps available at the Forest Service office up the road, along with suggested hiking and driving trips. If you try unpaved roads other than those on the suggested trips, do so in a high clearance 4WD vehicle. We camped at Kaibab CampeRVillage in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

A couple hours at the Pipe Springs National Monument west of Fredonia will awaken you to issues during the settling of the West you never considered. Travel to off-road sites in the Vermilion cliff area is best done with a HC 4WD and towing insurance, but the Condor Site is a few miles up the unpaved road shown on maps is okay for passenger cars. Bring good binoculars.

Previous reviews are correct. The campground hosts were especially helpful to us in resolving a problem with our trailer. At the time we were here, Verizon was having problems with their tower, but hopefully that will be fixed. The only issue we had with this park was the power. We stayed in the west row along the fence, and this row had low voltage while we were there -- never got over 109 and often was under 100. I checked some of the other rows and they were around 118. Other RVs in our row told me that their voltage alarms were constantly tripping. Other than that, this park is very well managed, clean, and a comfortable place to stay. It is about a 45 minute drive to the North Rim Visitor's Center. We camped at Kaibab CampeRVillage in a Fifth Wheel.

The park itself has nice trees, and there are trails you can walk along. We were excited to see Kaibab squirrels here. The staff was helpful.

I was very disappointed in the showers - frankly, I wouldn't wash the dog in one. They were ramshackle affairs and there was mud on the floor. We camped at Kaibab CampeRVillage in a Travel Trailer.

This park is a real dichotomy: terrific setting, great camp hosts, but very sketchy sites and roads, especially for large RVs. We had three days of snow and rain, which made a lot of mud. This place needs a few hundred tons of gravel to mitigate the mud issues.

Warning: Generators are NOT allowed, so be prepared for that of you decide to dry camp. This place is too expensive for what it is. We camped at Kaibab CampeRVillage in a Motorhome.
