It is a very old park, so sites are tight and some broken cement on driveways and patios. We stayed most of winter. Lots of activities and music at the grill, fun time. Pool area is nice with clean showers. Park is close to shopping and restaurants, therefore noisy traffic. Water pressure quite low most of the time. Laundry needs update/repairs. We camped at Val Vista Village (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice facilities and convenient to the Mesa area. Site 918 is difficult to enter due to tree across from it and a retaining wall on the driver's side. Other sites are tight but easier to move the RV in. We had to move from site 866 to 918 for our 2nd week. The cost represents the weekly rate. There was no discount during March as it is peak season. Park has hot tubs, pools, mini-golf, shuffleboard and other opportunities for exercise. We camped at Val Vista Village (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Tortilla Flat on SR88 was a good ride and good food. The scenery was spectacular. There are numerous places nearby to walk, hike and go 4-wheeling.

WiFi is basically non-existent, was told it might work if I used it by the pool. Tried in trailer, no luck. Very shocked in this day and age that it was not included. No cable box was provided. Did get Tv to work off of antenna but most channels were foreign language or shopping, etc. If you do not have your own satellite dish you are out of luck basically. Were required to wear pin on name tags if we were near the office, etc. Lots of activities for full timers. IN CONCLUSION: If you need to be connected to WIFI and more than 3 local tv channels, you might want to stay somewhere else. Otherwise, the people were friendly, park was clean and very pet friendly. Got Passport America so that I could get discounted spot but that only applied to smaller back in spots and we are new RVrs so did not feel comfortable so opted for pull thru. Rangers moving us were very personable and friendly but the streets were very narrow and not the easiest to maneuver. So price went up from 22 to 98. Did give me a 20% discount after I complained about the TV and WIFI. Palm tree planted on site 39 caused a scratch on side since turn to pull out was so tight We camped at Val Vista Village (55+ park) in a Travel Trailer.

We have stayed athere Val Vista Village previously but not during this discounted period. A pleasant surprise for all the amenities offered at Val Vista Villages. We were camped in a pull thru in the Ranchos section of the park. Right across the street from the large, outdoor pool. A hot tub is also provided. Our site at #39 was not quite level. It slanted from rear to front, requiring my auto level to almost have the front wheels off the ground but not quite. Pads are concrete with a bricked patio. Disposal containers are at each site along with a partitioned, fenced patio, along with a very nice picnic table. Easily the best site I have used in 2 years of FT. We were only in town for the weekend. The $93/night rate is extreme for me but at 50%, I was willing to pay for that for the amenities provided. Interior streets are somewhat narrow but can be navigated even with my 40' Class A towing an 18' car hauler trailer. We remained connected in our 80' pull thru!!! Gated community with a 24 hour gate house security. You are escorted to your site and assisted if needed. Close to shopping, restaurants and entertainment. Easy access to park from major roadways in Mesa and from US60, AZ101 and AZ202. Will return if need arises during off season. Winter months, this park is packed with seasonal visitors, especially from our northern neighbor, the Canadian provinces. This is a Cal-Am associated park. Many of these Cal-Am parks close by and in Gold Canyon. We camped at Val Vista Village (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a huge park but it is well cared for and the sites are adequate. We stayed here because of the need of a repair to our tow vehicle and waiting for the part. Of course at this time of year the park was less than half full! But the office staff was were very pleasant to deal with. Our only problem was getting lost trying to find the exit! Took awhile to figure things out. Lots of amenities at this park for the winter visitors and beautiful facilities. We would stay here again. Our rate was the weekly rate. We camped at Val Vista Village (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our very first week in our motor home, and we lucked out! I had been desperate to find a place with availability in the middle of snowbird season in the middle of Phoenix as a couple under 55! When Val Vista Villages called regarding our online reservation request, the kind lady forgot to ask our ages. When we arrived (that same day), they realized their mistake but were over the age-requirement capacity and let us stay. The amenities are incredible; and we used the pool, hot tub, game meet ups, and gas fire frequently. The street we stayed on was full of friendly people and pets. Our dogs really loved the socializing at the nearby pet run. There's plenty to do in a very nice community. We camped at Val Vista Village (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

We have stayed in Val Vista for the last 5 years from Sept - Dec. 31. WE have always enjoyed it. Firstly the sites are level and many have concrete pads for the whole site. However the sewers are placed so that they are under the rear end of our motor home, the streets are a bit narrow so it is difficult to park (and our RV is only 35') and the sites are close. On the other hand, it is a full resort with 3 pools, tennis courts, pickle ball courts, miniature golf, horseshoes, shuffleboard, a very new complete exercise facility, a large library and tons of activities. Happy hour every afternoon with live music. Hiking clubs, card club, a huge fabric center, woodworking, stained glass, you name it, they probably have this activity. The fall special this year was $600 for Sept - Dec. 31. We camped at Val Vista Village (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Well maintained park with lots of activities. RV sites are wedged between park models which means very little in the way of air circulation and absolutely no view from any side of your unit. Sites have gravel pads with concrete patios (nice) until you try to back in. The sewer hookup and power pedestal are completely different from any park ever visited. The largest problem is the very narrow street. Backing in was by far the most difficult we have ever done. The layout of the site (concrete, sewer) combined with the narrow street makes it extremely difficult. Add to that the neighbor across the narrow street thinks his truck should be parked in the street making it difficult to enter and exit our site once we are situated. During our stay we had multiple near accidents on the streets entering and leaving the park. People stand in the middle of the street not paying attention, drive their golf carts with no regard for safe driving practices and don't seem to have a foggy clue that dually pickups require a little more room to maneuver than their golf cart. On numerous occasions visits to the laundry room in the truck required exceptional maneuvering since wood carvers parked their golf carts in full vehicle spots occupying way too much of the limited parking availability. Additionally about once each week some type of water emergency occurs and you are without water with no explanation or fore warning. Thankfully we try to keep some water in our fresh water tank. We camped at Val Vista Village (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

When we arrived on a Sunday the gate attendant told us we would have to wait for about 40 minutes before he could get someone to escort us to our site. It actually only took only 15 minutes to get someone to us. After backing into our very tight site it took a while to get leveled since the site was slopped to the front and to the left side. We were told we had to park our towd on the patio but if we had slides on that side we could not have parked there. This is a resort with all the amenities your would expect in a park in the Mesa area and our Passport America membership rate made this park affordable. Strong Verizon 4g service and line of site to the south for a satellite signal is good in all the sites we saw. The park's WiFi is free but very, very slow and we couldn't connect at most times of the day. We would stay again. We camped at Val Vista Village (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

This is a very large park which has mostly small mobile homes. We apparently arrived after the season, as their grill and bar were closed for the summer. It has a beautiful pool area with spa (hot tub) outside and another indoor pool with a huge spa (hot tub) inside. Lots of tables, chairs, couches, umbrellas. There is a billiard room with several tables. An enormous laundry room. Lots of craft type areas (some of which were closed). It is close to shopping. The site itself was nothing special, just a slab and sand/dirt. We camped at Val Vista Village (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

The bad: This is not an RV Park. Rather, it is over a thousand cramped and crowded Park Model Trailer spots, jammed into narrow streets, with a very very few 'RV' spots (which go for a high premium.). The good: Once you do get in, the park facility itself is very nice, with a huge number activities to enjoy. Our experience: The park is normally full with long term winter guests, but we arrived in mid-April. Non-full time guests are tolerated, and the staff in general are not particularly friendly. Receiving our name badges after a lengthy checkin (name badges!?), we were guided to our spot by a Ranger who did nothing to assist, other than to watch and talk with passersby. If you are in an RV, and given one of the back ins that are normally assigned to the Park Models like we were, be prepared for long electric cable runs to the rear of the spots, and sewer drains literally in the middle rear of the drive, as opposed to on the left or service side of a real RV site. The dog runs are nice and grassy, but can be a very long walk. The power went out for unexplained reasons one afternoon, and did not return until the next day. The WiFi went out at the same time, and never did recover. Prior to the power outage, WiFi was adequate but very very slow (0.4 Mbps up.). No cable TV was offered or available. We scanned about 30 digital OTA channels. We camped at Val Vista Village (55+ park) in a Travel Trailer.

We have travelled the US from Maine to Florida and then across to California and now heading back the same way. Of the 20+ RV Campgrounds this is by far the best. Great entertainment daily, live music, events and several pools and hot tubs. There is a restaurant and bar and easy access to town. Concrete pad for RV and parking. This is a mega park with thousands of park models and RVs. We were there after most snowbirds had left so it was not crowded; however, I can imagine in the winter it is a nightmare with all the parks in the area full to the brim at one time. The traffic in mesa was busy even in this off season. The roads are tight, and when crowded I cannot imagine how they get everyone checked in. We found that our rig barely fit off the road into the one spot available for check in. We had a guide take us to the spot but it was impossible to get into that site with a tree there so we had to move next door, even still had to dodge a park model and sign post across street to back it in. The facilities are very nice once you are there. They have several pools and a very nice Grassy dog run at the back of the park. All utilities worked fine and the folks we met who live there were very very nice. Our biggest issue was probably at check in. After a weary day of driving, it took forever! We had to give them information for a 3 night stay that we have never given out any other place - example Vin number, emergency contacts, and the such. They also had a place to give the lender name and phone number, if you financed your rig, but I refused to put in some of that information for a 3 night stay! Was told the state requires that now. Crazy! Long term, this might be a great place to stay, not sure I would jump through all those hoops for a day or 2. We camped at Val Vista Village (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Friendly people, we only stayed here because we were flying out for the family Christmas visit and needed somewhere to park our rig and have our pet sitter come in. It's clean, but one of those mega RV parks with 1000's of RVs, sites were close together, way closer than we like. Clean laundry facilities, but needed a card to operate that you can only get from an office. We camped at Val Vista Village (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.
