We stopped here on a whim and hoped there would be open spots. We were pleasantly surprised that the park was maybe only 1/4 full & we were able to reserve a 2nd night. Most of the sites are pull-through. They have water and electric and a dump station. The park is surrounded by mountains and nestled against the banks of the Colorado River, so there's a beach at the park. You have to walk down a steep embankment to reach it, but it's there! There was a large dog park. Bathrooms were clean. We didn't use the showers but they have those too. This place was like a hidden oasis. It would be great if WiFi was available. We had zero T-Mobile coverage. We camped at River Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Arizona has really upgraded the state parks in the last few years. This park is a great example. Small park with only 37 sites (8 for tents or small rigs, 10 large back-ins and 19 large pull-thrus). Large grassy dog park. Paved roads. Level sites. Grills and picnic table at each site. Secluded. Surrounded on 3 sides by tall rugged rock walls, north side open access to the river including a boat ramp. Easy access to dump station on the way out. The only nice addition would be wifi - Verizon cell service is limited with no data access.

The rate is $28 per nite and a $5 reservation fee. Reservations are highly suggested. We camped at River Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is one of many options in Parker along the beautiful Colorado River, and we thought, the best. It was small, (maybe 30 sites, vs. 100s at other parks), quiet, not overly lighted, well maintained by the rangers and the work campers, protected by cliffs on two sides and the river on the third, nicely landscaped and roomy arrangement of level sites. River access is uncrowded and easy for all kinds of watercraft. Nice beach in a small cove making for easy swimming and kayaking. Perfect for dogs: a fenced dog park and permission to swim in the river. Very clean bathrooms and showers - looks like a new building. If there were sewer hookups I'd give it a 10. We camped at River Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is it's own State Park now, not part of Buckskin Mountain SP. Spacious paved sites with good separation. Wide aisle rows, but narrow, difficult to navigate turns with curbs. Beautiful mountain setting with sandy beach on Colorado River. Also a boat launch. Due to low visitation during November and December, there is a special rate of pay for 5 days and stay for 7, bringing the daily rate to $18. We would definitely return. We camped at River Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

A fabulous State Park, well maintained and clean. Very helpful Park Rangers. Many trails within area. We'd highly recommend this park. We stayed over the Thanksgiving weekend, although busy was very quiet. The sites are very large and level. We camped at River Island State Park in a Motorhome.
