This is one of many options in Parker along the beautiful Colorado River, and we thought, the best. It was small, (maybe 30 sites, vs. 100s at other parks), quiet, not overly lighted, well maintained by the rangers and the work campers, protected by cliffs on two sides and the river on the third, nicely landscaped and roomy arrangement of level sites. River access is uncrowded and easy for all kinds of watercraft. Nice beach in a small cove making for easy swimming and kayaking. Perfect for dogs: a fenced dog park and permission to swim in the river. Very clean bathrooms and showers - looks like a new building. If there were sewer hookups I'd give it a 10. We camped at River Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Great kayaking! Nice scenic drive (wild burros!) along the Parker Dam Rd. Lake Havasu and Lake Havasu City nearby.

This park is it's own State Park now, not part of Buckskin Mountain SP. Spacious paved sites with good separation. Wide aisle rows, but narrow, difficult to navigate turns with curbs. Beautiful mountain setting with sandy beach on Colorado River. Also a boat launch. Due to low visitation during November and December, there is a special rate of pay for 5 days and stay for 7, bringing the daily rate to $18. We would definitely return. We camped at River Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

A fabulous State Park, well maintained and clean. Very helpful Park Rangers. Many trails within area. We'd highly recommend this park. We stayed over the Thanksgiving weekend, although busy was very quiet. The sites are very large and level. We camped at River Island State Park in a Motorhome.
