This is a popular state park in the Southern part of Arizona. We made reservations to stay in the park two months in advance. The campground was full during the four days we stayed here. The sites are paved and kept clean by park rangers and a few volunteers. Each site requires some leveling. There is a store at the lake that carries a few essentials for visitors to the park. The park ranges we talked to were very polite and helpful. There is some construction at the park that causes some noise during the week. The park is adding cabins for use by visitors to the park ($65 - $70 per night). The cabins are at the East end of the park and on the hill side, with great views of the lake. We camped at Patagonia Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Nice Campground - RV sites have water/electric and the site we stayed in (71) was nice and level. Downside is that it is a crowded and busy park. Fire-ring at this site is oddly located and not very usable because of this. Campsites are close, no more than 15 yards or so to the nearest neighbor, but people were quiet and well-behaved. Maybe that was because of the extraordinary law enforcement presence. Facilities are nice, clean and well-lit, access roads are paved and sufficiently wide. Ranger will not let you line up along road to dump station, you loop around the campground store parking lot and wait across the road. Seems a bit off that there is no signage indicating this - we lined up behind the guy waiting and the ranger stopped and told us where to stage. It's not a problem, the parking lot is big and easy to navigate. Good birding opportunities if that is what you are into, also good fishing from what I hear. There is a small marina in a pretty cove with a cool arched footbridge over the channel, there is also a camp store, but we did not visit it. It appears that they are building cabins - providing another option for staying here, and extending possibly another camping loop along the lake. I would visit this lake again, but definitely make reservations way ahead of time. We camped at Patagonia Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Just water and electric at sites, but the park has a dump station. They are doing remodeling and upgrading parts of the park. Quite a few of the sites are small so check that carefully. Only a few have a view of the lake. It is a birding area, with lots of trails. The tour of the lake is worthwhile. We camped at Patagonia Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

The campground was very busy, but we still did not feel tightly packed into our spot. The higher numbered loops looked pretty crowded and I think we would have enjoyed our time less if we had been camping in that area. The restrooms and showers appeared to be quite new, clean and provide plenty of capacity. I was surprised to see rangers cleaning the restrooms instead of camp hosts. We camped at Patagonia Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We love the Arizona State Parks. The Good: This is a nice park, but it is our least favorite of the AZ State Parks system. And we travel regularly, usually a couple trips per month. It took some work to level our trailer, but our site was among the more level in the park. We could not get Verizon MiFi coverage or cell phone coverage in our site (#64). We enjoyed the hiking and the birding is great. The Bad: The park is extremely crowded and noisy. The sites near us had 2 vehicles, plus a boat and a trailer. 6-10 guests per site was common. Radios blared and campfires smoked into the evening. We have not experienced anything approaching this level of noise and conjestion in any of the other AZ parks. The good news is that the trails were empty because nobody seemed to have an interest in hiking. We camped at Patagonia Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

First of all, be sure and follow the directions given by the campground. Our GPS tried to take us off at exit #12 which would have put us on residential streets and over a weight restricted bridge we would have been to heavy for. This is a nice state park. We had no problems with leveling or with trees. Traveling the interior roads was also not a problem. 50 amp and water only with an easily accessible dump station either coming or going. Our roof mounted satellite worked and our Verizon mi-fi and phones worked, but with limited ( slow ) connectivity. The night skies were dark and it was very peaceful. It was busy during the weekend but about half empty during the week. We would stay here again, and would recommend it. And, we are not birders! We camped at Patagonia Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

We spent a day exploring the artist village of Tubac as well as Tumacacori National Park - both about 30 miles away. The Patagonia Visitor Center was able to provide us with information on ghost towns in the area and we spent a very enjoyable afternoon driving the backroads searching for them! The Ovens of Patagonia bakery is definitely worth a visit!

We stayed here mid-week in mid-November, and the park was less than half full. We originally reserved site 16 which was very near the lake, but it was pretty short and had quite a slope toward the lake so we changed to site 91. That site was very nice.

The park is a distance from any town so be sure to bring all of your supplies. There is a small park store with some basics but the prices are high.

The location is very nice and seems very popular for fishing and birding. There are a lot of birds around the lake, and one of the rangers is very knowledgeable and provides bird walks a couple of times a week. There is also a visitors center, but it is only open from Friday through Monday so we were not able to enter it. On the whole this is a nice park if you can enjoy it as we did in the middle of the week somewhat off-season. We camped at Patagonia Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed for a week in a 5th wheel. This is a very crowded park and is nearly always full on the weekends. Water and electric only. Dump station on premises. Great for birding and hiking. The vegetation is severely overgrown. I had to climb on top of my trailer and trim my way into my site which was horribly off level side to side, by more than 6 inches. Took me over an hour to hook up to leave the park because of the site being so far off level. Then I had to go down and turn around in a small turnaround. Again the trees and bushes were overhanging the road and I had to trim my way out. We had to put up with five connected sites having an outdoor football party with four TVs setup blasting all day long with the associated drinking and swearing for four days. Upon leaving the ranger said they didn't know about it. Really?

If you arrive after dark good luck finding your site as there is virtually no signage to direct you. I will not return to this park. We camped at Patagonia Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We were very close to the lake but away from the beach, so our dog could swim in the lake. Dogs aren't allowed on the beach. It's quieter away from the beach area and more private also. We stayed 3 nights. Our site was asphalt, spacious, had some shade, and included a fire ring and picnic table. Great hiking available. There is a trail at the end of the lake for hiking and bird watching. There were some free range cattle in the area of the trail with a big bull that appeared a bit bothered by our presence. Beautiful park, great location for bird watching. The $5/person fee for the park ranger boat tour is well worth the fee, lots of knowledge shared, etc.
Compared to other AZ state parks that we have stayed in, this one is a LOT more heavily treed which is a little more difficult for big rigs.
The east campground loop is more spacious and sites more spread out than the west campground, but also somewhat smaller site. We camped at Patagonia Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

As someone else said, this is an OK state park. Unfortunately, a lot of the spots are not big enough for larger rigs, but my 32' C was OK if I parked it slightly at an angle. A problem is that there is really very little view of the lake from campsites because of the small trees and shrubs that obscure your view. It would be nice to trim them a bit. My site also had the picnic table down about 10 stairs behind the site, which would be a problem if you wanted to spend much time eating or around the campfire down there. Also, the "market" had only snacks, no bread or milk or other essentials. Verizon voice and data were OK in the east end of the park, but not so good on the west end. We camped at Patagonia Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a nice campground on the lake. At $27 for electric & water it seemed a bit spendy, but there don't seem to be many options around here. The restroom/shower building is modern and clean and the grounds are well-kept. Lots of birding around here, although spring might be better than winter which is a bit slow. The store and marina are closed and supposedly being taken over by some concessionaires soon that also want to change the east campground into a bunch of cabins per the ranger at the gate. Not sure what king of "state" park THAT will be. No wi-fi and Verizon was a bit on the weak side but worked ok for data. The sites all vary in length, width, and level so if you have a choice, check them out. Probably won't be back this way, but if so I'd stay again. This is an OK state park tucked into the hills next to a large lake. It has fishing, a boat launch, boat rentals, kayak rentals, etc., as well a large day use area with a beach. Though it was very quiet when we stayed, I imagine with all those amenities it gets quite crowded on warm weekends. We found one nice hike, but nothing right out of the campground. The bathrooms were clean, if a bit tired. The ranger who checked us in was not very friendly, nor was the woman working at the store. The sites are all paved and very close together, but there are lots of trees around. I read all the reviews I could find on this campground, and I think every one of them said their site was not level. Sites 3, 4, 5 are pull-throughs, but I can't even imaging trying to get level on any of them from looking at them. We had site 37 and using 3 legos were still not level. As I walked the campground, I think every camper was using some leveling. We had no AT&T service (OK, truth be told, I would randomly get 1 bar for about a minute at a time). I think if I had small children, this would be a fun park for a weekend get-away, but not for us. We camped at Patagonia Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very spacious sites, most fairly level, others less-so. Sites are situated so that you are not looking into your neighbor's RV and vice-versa. Sites are paved, as are roads. Modern bathrooms and showers, very clean. Park is generally well-maintained. Market store with good range of food, etc. Boats available for rent. Electric and water worked well, good setup for the dump (no sewer hookups). A very nice, scenic park with lots of walking and bird-watching opportunities within the park and nearby. They said Verizon works, and I did get some very minimal AT&T phone and cellular data/mail service occasionally. A very pleasant campground. We camped at Patagonia Lake State Park in a Motorhome.
