Rated 10/10/10 by Good Sam. Nice large indoor pool and hot tub, laundry, book exchange library, craft room, billiard room, card room. Lots of park models but also dedicated RV area. Park on gravel. Hookups well located. Patios are all small and broken at some sites. Very quiet park We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The wide gravel pull through sight was perfect for my need. The utilities were all located at the rear of the site which was a bit inconvenient but the site was easy to get into and level. No wifi or cable at site. Wifi in the office was really fast. I would stay here again. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Resort is a real stretch .. It's a 30 year old trailer park with 90% of the sites filled with park models and RV's thrown in-between.. Nice pool & spa.. Showers are old & small only 3 in the whole park for women & 3 in the mens room.. Showers are Not handicapped accessible.. Nice library, free ice machine. Pull through sites are all rock and not very level.. Concert patio pads are small & some are cracked. Palm trees are in the way and offer no shade..NO WIFI & NO CABLE.. The yearly RV sites are redone ( bigger patio pads, pavers etc) at the renters expense. The lots are very unlevel, tilting towards the street. They are also very close together. We have been here several times & I have never seen anyone use the shuffleboard courts or bocce ball courts..Waste of space, Fruit trees at most of the permeant sites offer lemons and grapefruit.. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Desert Shadows RV Resort, owner at Desert Shadows RV Resort responded to this review

I am sorry you had some concerns. WE do have cable for stays of over 2 weeks, which i know is not helpful for shorter stays, but we do have over 40 tv channels that come in via regular antennae, many of which are in High Definition quality. Also, we do have WIFI at every site. It is free in the lobby building, but it is a pay service via Tengo WIFI at the sites, but it is available at every site. Thank you.

A convenient spot to stay for proximity to the north end of Phoenix or Scottsdale area. The park is largely permanent park models, but has a number of back in or pull thru sites for short or longer term stays. The pull thru sites at the entrance to the park are gravel and have a slight forward lean towards the road. Nothing that the levelers could not compensate for. The cement patio pads are small and prove difficult to set out four chairs on. The hookups are excellent, we had no problems with the water or electrical supply. The pull thru sites are large and can accommodate the largest of units with room to park a towed vehicle. It would be difficult to leave your towed vehicle hooked up and position your RV such that you could be positioned near the cement patio or hookups. The WiFi is best available in the lobby of the office, otherwise it is non existent at the sites. Laundry room is large and offers plenty of machines. There is an outdoor clothesline that can be used for air drying. Plenty of activity rooms and recreational facilities to use. We did not use the pool as the water was so murky we couldn't see the bottom. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This place feels like a real community with its paved streets and park model homes, dog areas, and central social and administrative hub. There's even curbside trash pickup twice a week and deliveries (Fedex, UPS) come right to your door. The spots themselves are gravel-covered and deep enough for our 37 foot coach with as much space for a car or your preferred patio setup. Rates are reasonable. Higher than some nearby parks that are very noticeably inferior but lower than others that are comparable. There's an active social calendar though many activities are geared toward senior-seniors (as opposed to younger retirees) but all are always welcomed and encouraged to participate. We now consider Desert Shadows to be our second home. We love it and will be back again and again. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There's a Costco directly across the street accessible through a gate that requires a fob (small deposit required, but worth it). There are LOTS of excellent places to eat within just a few minutes and even more within a 20 minute drive. You can check out our restaurant reviews here: https://anthonynalli.yelp.com https://www.zomato.com/anthonynalli Hiking trails are all over the place but require a car to get to but the variety is seemingly endless.

This RV park was a pet-friendly, all ages place to stay in the middle of snowbird season. However, monthly and yearly rentals do have a minimum age requirement (42 & 55 respectively). The nightly rate has a Good Sam discount available but weekly is discounted already. We only stayed 3 nights and didn't use any amenities except for the free wifi in the office. Our site was level gravel with a concrete slab as a porch with a palm tree and bench. It was one of the pull-thru sites just off the main entrance, but there wasn't much traffic nor noise. It's definitely more of a community for snowbirds with lots of activities and amenities but was also a place to get water, electricity, and tanks drained. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Stayed one night while passing through Phoenix. This is a mixed community of permanent park model homes and transient RV's. The word "Resort" in their name is fitting. This is a very clean, well maintained and modern park. Streets are all paved and wide. Sites are level gravel pads with concrete patio and bench, no picnic table. Utilities are modern and well placed. Sites border on being too close together, almost cramped. Spaces are long enough, just very narrow. Close to your neighbors on either side.

Laundry room is large, clean and has an abundance of both washers and dryers. This is an adult oriented facility. Rec room offers many activities and pool is indoors, large and heated. Spa is also very large and located indoors. Showers and bathrooms are clean. Would consider staying here again if in area, downside, this is pricey for our budget. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is our winter home for four months and suits our needs very well. Good location at north I17 and Loop 101 with restaurants and shopping nearby, quiet and secure. Rate is high season monthly plus electric. We are in a longer term site that is level, long enough for our 40 foot fiver, has a concrete patio and citrus trees. Short term sites are pull thru in the center of the park. Utilities are fine with open sky for dish. There are many activities, including pancake breakfasts, talent shows, church, dances, etc to keep you as busy as you like and the residents are a friendly group. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Winter in Phoenix affords many opportunities that we enjoy-Phoenix Open Golf, Barrett Jackson, NASCAR, NHRA, spring baseball and golf. Right out the back gate of the park is Costco and IN N OUT Burger. Check out The Place for breakfast and Naked BBQ for some excellent Q.

Second time staying at this RV resort. Still not crazy about it but it is so darn conveniently located. You can jump right on the 101 loop or I-17, and Costco is right out the back gate. Entrance and registration area is easy to navigate. Paved, wide roads. Last time we had a back in site wedged between park models, which is how the majority to the sites are. Hated it. Whoever thought this was a good way to lay out an RV park needs to go back to design school! This time we managed to get a pull thru site in the middle, which was better. Level, gravel sites with a small patio. Utilities worked fine, but no cable. How does a place get a triple 10 and not offer cable? A small bench at the site but no picnic tables. I hate the showers. There is no bench or hooks, and you literally have to walk thru someone else's stall to get to yours. The restrooms are nice and were always clean. Lots to do for those that like to hang around the resort. You have to "rent" a remote to use the back gate. $40 deposit, and $35 is returned to you at the end. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a nice place that we stay in when in Phoenix for day or two. It is convenient to Mayo (they give 10% discount if you are going there). Nice long pull thru. Wonderful indoor pool and hot tub. Laundry is very good as well. It has lots of long term people and single wides, etc. But clean and nice. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

If I only rated this park on its amenities, I would give it a 9 or a 10. The sites are what brings the rating down. This is more a park model resort than an RV park. The RVs are in "lots" instead of "sites" and are squeezed in between park model homes. The lots are very unlevel, tilting towards the street. We needed to use several levels of leveling blocks under our front wheels in order to level the coach. They are also very close together. If our back window opened up, I could reach out and shake hands with the people behind us. And with our living room slideout extended there is only about a foot between it and the pickup truck belonging to the person next to us. Free cable and wifi are available at the office complex only. In order to get cable at your site, you have to contact the cable company and pay their rates. Same for wifi. We don't need cable and have our own wifi hotspot so it didn't really bother us. They don't accept credit cards for monthly stays, only cash or check. I suggest you pay the deposit for the back gate key so that you can get to a traffic light if you want to make a left turn on the highway. The amenities are another thing altogether. The laundry room is large and clean, with plenty of room on the tables to fold your clothes. Washers cost $1.25, dryers are $0.50 for 20 minutes. There is a sitting area with a tv and magazines in the laundry room. There's a large, heated indoor pool and hot tub. Outside are shuffleboard courts and bocce ball courts. An extensive library also has two tables for jigsaw puzzles and several computers. There are also a billiards room, card room, exercise room, etc. There is always some activity going on at this park. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects monthly, in high season plus electric. We were here for 4 months, avoiding winter. This a well-located park in North Phoenix, close to all services and Costco right out the back gate.
We have found Desert Shadows to be very friendly, with as many activities as you care to do. Sites are level, with good utilities and a ton of citrus trees all around the park-free oranges, etc for the picking. The park staff is helpful and friendly. For needing a park within a big city, Desert Shadows is a good choice. The short term sites are close to the entrance with a lot of space and each has a small concrete patio and bench. Sites are gravel.

Full hookups but no cable. Received over 35 OTA stations, most in HD.

Internet is free in the office, which has coffee and nice sitting area. A lot of the seasonal residents visit there each morning. Internet is available at he sites now, for a fee. Quite reasonably priced

Very clean, lot of amenities available. And short term guests are invited to participate in all the activities which there are many.

We find this a nice quiet park that is very convenient and will return here in the future when we visit family in the PHX area. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.
