Easy access to the highway. Very quiet as mentioned in other reviews. We stayed 6 days after having our RV serviced in town. Very close to Costco for gas and diesel which open at 7am. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We liked this part. On the map it looks like its right off the freeway, but we couldn't hear any highway noise. Its mostly a nice, 55+ mobile home community with empty spots for rv's. The main road into the office is strictly for rv's. We enjoyed our stay. The raods were paved and the site were gravel with zero dust. The pool and hot tub were both indoors. This is an active 55+ park with lots of daily activities. Retail shops of all types are very close by. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We chose this campground because it was close to our friends' home. Easy access to I-17. Very nicely landscaped. The park is mostly park models with good overnight sites. There is no cable TV, but good over the air channel selection with our antenna. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here several days and took day trips in the area. It's a mix of permanent, temporary and transient residents. The staff is helpful and the office/club house areas were large and well kept. The transient area was convenient. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

My rate includes tax since it added $40 to a six night stay. Rate also increased for the last few days since their rate changes for Spring practice season. No matter if it's $52 or $60 the cost is not worth it. However, most places were full until April so this was what was available. My site was located between 2 park models with JUST enough room for my rig to fit between and patio and a park model. When parking my truck on the other side of the patio I had to be very careful not to take out the metal awning on the other park model. Most of the transient sites are located near the entrance and they are gravel pull-thru's with a small patio. I was visiting relatives so I did not spend much time in the park and I didn't use any amenities. This was the MOST expensive campground/park that I have ever stayed at in the past 4 years full-timing. Avoid if you can! We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Rate reflects monthly stay during high season. Desert Shadows is our winter home. This is a very well maintained park with pull thru short term sites and longer term back ins amongst park models. Entry is off Union Hills and I17, easy access. All utilities worked very well and satellite is no problem. The staff is both attentive and friendly. There are all kinds of activities available including dances, plays, pancake breakfasts, to name a few. An indoor pool and hot tub as well as fitness room are available. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

A convenient spot to stay for proximity to the north end of Phoenix or Scottsdale area. The park is largely permanent park models, but has a number of back in or pull thru sites for short or longer term stays. The pull thru sites at the entrance to the park are gravel and have a slight forward lean towards the road. Nothing that the levelers could not compensate for. The cement patio pads are small and prove difficult to set out four chairs on. The hookups are excellent, we had no problems with the water or electrical supply. The pull thru sites are large and can accommodate the largest of units with room to park a towed vehicle. It would be difficult to leave your towed vehicle hooked up and position your RV such that you could be positioned near the cement patio or hookups. The WiFi is best available in the lobby of the office, otherwise it is non existent at the sites. Laundry room is large and offers plenty of machines. There is an outdoor clothesline that can be used for air drying. Plenty of activity rooms and recreational facilities to use. We did not use the pool as the water was so murky we couldn't see the bottom. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Resort is a real stretch .. It's a 30 year old trailer park with 90% of the sites filled with park models and RV's thrown in-between.. Nice pool & spa.. Showers are old & small only 3 in the whole park for women & 3 in the mens room.. Showers are Not handicapped accessible.. Nice library, free ice machine. Pull through sites are all rock and not very level.. Concert patio pads are small & some are cracked. Palm trees are in the way and offer no shade..NO WIFI & NO CABLE.. The yearly RV sites are redone ( bigger patio pads, pavers etc) at the renters expense. The lots are very unlevel, tilting towards the street. They are also very close together. We have been here several times & I have never seen anyone use the shuffleboard courts or bocce ball courts..Waste of space, Fruit trees at most of the permeant sites offer lemons and grapefruit.. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Desert Shadows RV Resort, owner at Desert Shadows RV Resort responded to this review

I am sorry you had some concerns. WE do have cable for stays of over 2 weeks, which i know is not helpful for shorter stays, but we do have over 40 tv channels that come in via regular antennae, many of which are in High Definition quality. Also, we do have WIFI at every site. It is free in the lobby building, but it is a pay service via Tengo WIFI at the sites, but it is available at every site. Thank you.

The wide gravel pull through sight was perfect for my need. The utilities were all located at the rear of the site which was a bit inconvenient but the site was easy to get into and level. No wifi or cable at site. Wifi in the office was really fast. I would stay here again. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This RV park was a pet-friendly, all ages place to stay in the middle of snowbird season. However, monthly and yearly rentals do have a minimum age requirement (42 & 55 respectively). The nightly rate has a Good Sam discount available but weekly is discounted already. We only stayed 3 nights and didn't use any amenities except for the free wifi in the office. Our site was level gravel with a concrete slab as a porch with a palm tree and bench. It was one of the pull-thru sites just off the main entrance, but there wasn't much traffic nor noise. It's definitely more of a community for snowbirds with lots of activities and amenities but was also a place to get water, electricity, and tanks drained. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This place feels like a real community with its paved streets and park model homes, dog areas, and central social and administrative hub. There's even curbside trash pickup twice a week and deliveries (Fedex, UPS) come right to your door. The spots themselves are gravel-covered and deep enough for our 37 foot coach with as much space for a car or your preferred patio setup. Rates are reasonable. Higher than some nearby parks that are very noticeably inferior but lower than others that are comparable. There's an active social calendar though many activities are geared toward senior-seniors (as opposed to younger retirees) but all are always welcomed and encouraged to participate. We now consider Desert Shadows to be our second home. We love it and will be back again and again. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There's a Costco directly across the street accessible through a gate that requires a fob (small deposit required, but worth it). There are LOTS of excellent places to eat within just a few minutes and even more within a 20 minute drive. You can check out our restaurant reviews here: https://anthonynalli.yelp.com https://www.zomato.com/anthonynalli Hiking trails are all over the place but require a car to get to but the variety is seemingly endless.

Stayed one night while passing through Phoenix. This is a mixed community of permanent park model homes and transient RV's. The word "Resort" in their name is fitting. This is a very clean, well maintained and modern park. Streets are all paved and wide. Sites are level gravel pads with concrete patio and bench, no picnic table. Utilities are modern and well placed. Sites border on being too close together, almost cramped. Spaces are long enough, just very narrow. Close to your neighbors on either side.

Laundry room is large, clean and has an abundance of both washers and dryers. This is an adult oriented facility. Rec room offers many activities and pool is indoors, large and heated. Spa is also very large and located indoors. Showers and bathrooms are clean. Would consider staying here again if in area, downside, this is pricey for our budget. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Motorhome.
