Most sites a bit too close for our liking although well spaced when compared to commercial campgrounds, the outside of the loops would be better. Many folks with fires at night so it gets a bit smoky. You get a good deal of road and train noise although not to the point where it bothered us. Those 3 things give this campground an 8 instead of a 10. Good hiking in the park and much more nearby if you do some research. We liked Casa Grande Mountian Park, behind the Love's station on I-10. We camped at Picacho Peak State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Clean, well-maintained State Park. Good, paved interior roads; mostly level, paved sites. Sites are roomy, long and wide; both pull-throughs and back-ins, with views of impressive Picacho Peak. Sites are Electric only (no water); yet the same price as other AZ Parks with Electric & Water. There is some noise from I-10 and frequent trains, but they didn't bother us with the RV windows up at night. Plenty of hiking trails, some easy and others challenging. Not a lot to do in the area for a lengthy stay, but we would stay here again if passing through. We camped at Picacho Peak State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you have kids (or grandkids) take them to Rooster Cogburn's Ostrich Ranch, 1/4-mile down the Frontage Road - lots of animals to feed - in safe, cute displays. They'll love it!

Loved this park! When we go RVing, we go to get away from it all, so the fact that there "wasn't a lot to do nearby" wasn't a problem for us. The park is right in the middle of a saguaro forest with beautiful peaks all around, most prominently Picacho. Spaces are well spaced so you don't hear your neighbors. Beautiful starry skies that you don't get to enjoy when you're near large towns or in tree filled RV parks. Although we could see the train and traffic on I-10, we couldn't hear it. Stayed in A-7, the pull-thrus are convenient semi-circles. Nicely laid out park! We camped at Picacho Peak State Park in a Motorhome.

Electric only. Central dump & water on site. Their website advertised an option for $15 non-electric sites. On arrival we found they electrified all sites, so full price required. Bath & showers clean, sites spread out and level. With ample solar panels we chose this park for the non-electric option at low cost, but with that no longer an option we would not stay here again. We camped at Picacho Peak State Park in a Motorhome.

Way overpriced for what you get! Electric only - no water. Very remote. If you are into hiking there are some good trails but that's all there is to do. We camped at Picacho Peak State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is nothing to do except hike. Nearest shopping is in Eloy, about 15 miles, and that has almost nothing. So Casa Grande is closest - 30 miles

This is a favorite park of ours. Sites are paved, well spaced and level. The only reason I do not give this park a 10 is the sites are electric only; meaning it is necessary to be very conservative with water usage or to visit the dump & water station during a visit of more than about 4 days. We camped at Picacho Peak State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Hiking, desert scenery. Reasonably close to Tucson (40 miles) if you need a big city. About 10 miles to groceries etc.

If road noise bothers you, avoid this one. Noise from nearby I-10 and parallel train tracks was constant day and night. We left early and forfeited a nights fee because of it. Otherwise sited were nicely spaced, restrooms and showers were very clean, and staff was friendly and helpful. We camped at Picacho Peak State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Park is conveniently located off of I-10 and on a few occasions you could hear the highway, but wasn't bad at all. Sites were well spaced and had picnic table and fire ring. Nice hiking at the park, but not much in the immediate area. Lots of things to do within a 30-45 minute drive though! We camped at Picacho Peak State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice park with a lot of hiking trails. It is close to the freeway so depending if your site is, it could be noisy. We had a great time and would definitely come back. We camped at Picacho Peak State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a stunning campground. It's just far enough off of the interstate to still be convenient, but be relatively quiet. It's very dark and quiet at night. The sites are arranged around a circle, with lots of space and natural desert landscaping between them, for plenty of privacy. The scenery is spectacular. There is electric only at the sites, but a dump station with water is available nearby. The only thing negative I have to say about this place is that it's a little expensive for electric only. There is WiFi available for $3/day or $8/3 days, and its not bad as campground wifi services go. The Verizon signal is strong. Everything is in impeccable condition, and the customer service is great. We camped at Picacho Peak State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This is some distance from the nearest cities, which is really part of its charm. There are several nature trails at the park, and a hike to the top of the peak for expert climbers.

This is a fantastic campground. Beautiful vistas, huge level campsites, friendly staff. The bathrooms are "Disney" clean. And all for only $25.00. Note: campers don't have to pay the $7.00 entrance fee. We camped at Picacho Peak State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here twice, on the way to Tucson and on the way back. Beautiful setting on the slopes of Picacho Peak with large campsites with plenty of space between other sites, set among the saguaro. Park has a combo of pull-thru and back-in sites, and back-in sites are more than long enough so we didn't have have to unhitch our 24' trailer. Not much in the way of shade so keep that in mind if it's hot. Many have electrical hook-ups but no water or sewer although a dump station with potable water is available. The freeway and train tracks are in site about 1 mile away, and while some traffic noise was noticed, it wasn't bothersome. Bathrooms were clean and modern with hot showers. Lots of hiking and the sunsets and sunrises are stunning. This was one of our favorite parks of our trip, and if there were more to do in the area (we can't hike) we would have stayed longer. Weekends seems to be booked but we had no problem getting drive-up stops on the weekdays. We camped at Picacho Peak State Park in a Travel Trailer.

A simply great state park with 50-30-20 amp electric service! All sites offer space, privacy, table and fire ring. Big rig accessible with paved roads and sites. Potable water and dump available. Great views of a very green desert. Will definitely return! We camped at Picacho Peak State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a medium-sized state park RV/campground in a gorgeous oasis in the Sonoran Desert - Picacho Peak State Park. The lush desert landscape is just amazing - a photographer's dream. Even the landscaping within the campground was beautiful. The RV spaces are concrete and are well-planned for great views, privacy, and space. My site had a private, small ramada (shade structure) with a picnic table and fire ring at the end of a short gravel path. The site was immaculate - park employees clean each one between visits. There is no lighting within the park except for the comfort stations - which allows for good star-gazing. The only downside is that you can hear the highway - faint but noticeable. No water or sewer, but that's not an issue for me. Otherwise it's very quiet and peaceful. I stayed three nights and would have extended my stay if the park hadn't been sold out. I can't wait to return! We camped at Picacho Peak State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
