This is a great place close in to Prescott. Located in the Prescott National Forest. 10 minutes to the heart of the town yet the campground feels remote inside the forest area. Good place to be situated to explore the surrounding area. Even a day trip to Jerome was doable. The sites are spread out well and paved nicely and ours in 24, was level and private. This is dry camping. The water is off in the winter season. We are having low 70 temps. Pretty awesome for winter. There are several loops but not all open in winter. The website stated only 12 are open but there are many more open. Not crowded at all right now. The price does go up in the summer season when the water is on. Not much though. It is quiet now. I am sure it is busy in the summer. First come first serve. The road to access the park is quiet at night. Virtually no noise since it's a winding, curvey road to Wickenburg. No one bothered our things we left out. One camper even left out an unlocked generator with no issues. We stayed the 14 day limit. There are a few other NFS campgrounds like Lynx Lake but they are closed now. White Spar opened year round. There are nice picnic tables and a fire pit at each site. Pit toilets. Garbage service. The location is ideal for exploring the area. The host on duty while we were here, was pretty much invisible. We camped at White Spar Campground in a Travel Trailer.

I had a wonderful stay in this park. Friendly, helpful staff. Would recommend and stay here again. Park was very clean and well maintained. No electric, solar and generators used. Pit toilets but very clean. Will definitely stay here again. We camped at White Spar Campground in a Motorhome.

An older review mentioned theft concerns. We saw several campers leaving their stuff unattended, with no issues. Sites are generally level side to side, but often have minor to moderate slope from front to back. It's a very nice setting, with good hiking trails. Close to town, convenient. Our rate was the winter rate, when the water spigots are turned off. We camped at White Spar Campground in a Motorhome.

Much work has been done to improve the camp sites here and it shows. All the sites are well maintained and very clean. May have a problem getting some rigs level. Vault restrooms are kept very clean. Some of the best hiking/mountain biking trails around. Very quiet. I spent 2 weeks here and could have stayed longer. Only 3 miles from town. We camped at White Spar Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed in March 2011. This FS campground is in a shady Ponderosa Pine forest near several nice hiking trails. Unfortunately this is not a very safe part of Prescott. While we we here, the campground host warned us that two generators had been stolen in the campground during the past 2 weeks. This place sometimes has the feel of a homeless encampment. In fact, one of the local agencies in town provide "free camping vouchers" to the homeless. The campground is within easy walking distance from downtown. A better alternative is Lynx Lake. We camped at White Spar Campground in a Motorhome.

This park has been rebuilt to modern standards for a Forest Service Campground. It is 1/2 mile south of Prescott city limits, (pronounced PRESKITT) on Rte 89. Our rate is for Golden Age Pass. It has paved roads and sites for up to 40 feet. We camped at White Spar Campground in a Motorhome.

Rating based on a primitive campground. Many sites are situated to allow lots of room between sites and privacy. In Ponderosa pines however not what I would describe as thick forest. Two miles from downtown Prescott. We stayed at park in May mid week and it was quiet, however, we were told on weekends in the summer it gets packed with folks from Phoenix. Compost toilets were clean. We camped at White Spar Campground in a Motorhome.
