Just stayed for 3 days over fall break in a 26 Ft travel trailer. VERY few spots can handle a trailer. It is not because of the length of the spot, but because too narrow to make the turn off the road. First site we had booked did not work and was moved to a non reserved spot.

The campground is maintained by wonderful hosts who do a great job and have been there several years. Half the sites are closed because of boulders, but expected to reopen.

The location is beautiful but sadly the campground is split in half by highway 87a running thru with non stop traffic. Because of that, rated it only 3 stars and will not plan a return. If you want a spot that is right off the road for a quick over night, good spot and impressive rock scenery. We camped at Pine Flat Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice but not spacious campground. Canyon is narrow at this point so the road is close. Only the loops on the west side of the road were open. Campground is run by a concessionaire (Recreation Resource Management), they seem to have split the campground between reservable (south) and non-reservable (north) and if you don't have a reservation they do not offer any of the reservable sites, some of the best, even if they are available. Short, steep trail starts on the east side of the road, otherwise everything is a drive. We camped at Pine Flat Campground in a Motorhome.

Saturday, May 18 – Pine Flat West Campground, Coconino National Forest, Sedona, AZ This is the first National Forest campground driving south on scenic 89A from Flagstaff to Sedona. It is right after all the switchbacks. There are four loops, two on the east side of the road and two on the west side.. Only sites 21-38 can be reserved online. It costs $18 and half with a pass. No hookups but nice sites, few for large motorhomes. Bathhouses are pit toilets. It is located twelve miles north of Sedona at the base of Oak Creek Canyon. It is beautiful nestled among Ponderosa Trees with the Red Rock Cliffs surrounding it. The stream is stocked with trout and one can go birding, hiking and swimming. Nice place to camp for an overnight or longer. There were still sites available on Saturday when we arrived but most weekends they are full. The pit toilets were very clean! We camped at Pine Flat Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a Forest Service campground with no hookups and vault toilets. They put fans in the exhaust vents for the toilets, and if you are in a campsite near the bathroom it can be smelly if the wind is in your direction. The campsites are nicely kept up, and most are best for small campers or tents. Only a few work for larger RVs. The location is great, half way between Flagstaff and Sedona in beautiful Oak Creek Canyon. The campground is close to the road, but there is very little traffic at night so no noise. We have camped here twice. The cost is $18 unless you have an Interagency pass which cuts the cost to $9. Very friendly and helpful camp hosts. We camped at Pine Flat Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a Coconino Forest campground so it has no hookups. Water is available from a faucet near the bathrooms but it had a notice that the water was contaminated with a non pathogenic bacteria. The campground is located very near Rte 89A which has a fair amount of traffic during the day but it was very quiet at night. Campsites are well developed with paved roads. The camp host was very friendly and made frequent checks on the toilets to be sure they were clean. The rate is less expensive for National park pass holders. I would return to camp here since it is a great location. We camped at Pine Flat Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a primitive (no hookups) campground in the Coconino National Forest, north of Sedona, AZ. It’s right in Oak Creek Canyon and very scenic. It has new vault toilets and dumpsters, but no showers. The picnic and tent pads are new. Each site has a cement picnic table, fire ring/grill combo, and a separate pedestal grill. The campground is right off highway 89A. Between Sedona and the campground, we encountered an area on the road where they were cleaning up a mud slide. The host said that happens regularly. The highway is busy during the day, but not at night. There’s one loop on the east side of the highway and another loop on the west side. We stayed at back-in site 28 on the western loop. Oak Creek was right behind us. Due to the terrain, many sites are not level. Our site had only a slight incline. On the east side, sites 41, 44, and 50 looked level, but on site #50 there is a steep drive to reach the level parking pad. Sites were a little close but not too bad. Only a few sites can be reserved which we did, because we were arriving late on a Friday. We would stay here again. We camped at Pine Flat Campground in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: July, 2009 - $20.00

With 2009 being a lean year, I decided to take my children camping for our family vacation. As a single mother, I was a little hesitant as I had not been camping since I was a child and had no real knowledge about what to expect. A reservation was made for a creek side campsite at the Pine Flat Campground in Sedona with relative ease. Locating our assigned site was equally easy and we had a fabulous view of the creek and the mountain wall opposite our site. While the restrooms are the nasty "pit" type toilets, they were well stocked and the camp host was very helpful in providing information about the area and in keeping the campground well maintained. Our site had a picnic table, fire pit and BBQ (charcoal) grill and there was water available from a spigot close by. The only down side of our trip was the nightly visit from the skunks! Each night/early morning, they could be heard attempting to break into our food boxes (large plastic bins with lids) and rummaging around the site. They provided a great source of entertainment for my children but not so much for me. Beyond that, the trip was wonderful because the facility was beautiful. We camped at Pine Flat Campground in a Tent.

Very nice campground located at the creek. Nice host let us choose between different sites and try which one fits best and is level. No hurries, really camping in the middle of the woods. We had a motorhome of 25 feet, it was tight, some sites also have space for 30 feet but more will be difficult. We camped at Pine Flat Campground in a Motorhome.
