All the sites are at different levels thru out the park, sites are different lengths, some sites have double sites (side by side) for camping with friends. We all loved this place, very quiet and sites were far apart. Town of Show Low was about 3 miles away and have everything there. We will be booking for next year. Their website show pictures of the individual camp sites with length of pad, be sure you get one long enough for your rig because the you cannot park your vehicle on any dirt. I was 12" over and they made me move my truck. We camped at Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We were right next to the lake and they have little concession stand at the lake for snacks and drinks, kayak rentals, boat ramp. Check out their website and you can see a picture of every campsite and be sure to pick a site that is long enough for your rig, the sizes all vary.

Beware! campsite lengths. Even though many of the sites state the length they will accommodate you may not be able to actually get into the spot. We had Redhead 05 (we own a 36 ft fifth wheel) which is 75ft. No problem right? Well, you have to take into the consideration the angle was too straight, the street too narrow and two trees at the very front seriously constricting your movement not to mention the 5 ft drop off on the other side of the road and the fact the main road curves to the right (right side spot) just past the site then you have a recipe for disaster. We tried to maneuver into this spot for about an hour and finally gave up. We have RV'd for many years and yes I know how to backup and park a rig. This is the first time we have had this issue. At the very least there should be a disclaimer in the description stating may not be suitable for larger RVs. The park is great and we have stayed here before but the state really needs to get their act together. We camped at Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Gem of a campground. All sites paved and level. Many great walking paths. Red Head and Mallard are probably the best loops. Not many 50 amp sites but its generally cool with little need for air conditioning. Almost all sites are back in. Nice lake for fishing. Restrooms and showers very clean. Sites go fast - reserve early. We camped at Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

A beautiful, quiet State campground on the lake. We woke up one morning to two elk play fighting, antlers entangled and pushing each other back and forth. It was too cold for us to go kayaking as we had planned. Lake is great with no large boats or jet skis! Close to Show Low where with grocery stores and restaurants. A nice little trail along the lake. Our site was level and easily fit our 35" motorhome and jeep. One note: the road going into the campground is very rough as there are ruts in the asphalt. We camped at Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Check-in was quick and easy with the friendly staff member at the front kiosk, with clear instructions on how to find out site. We could tell it was going to be a peaceful, beautiful stay while driving in. It's a well laid out park with plenty of space to roam around, and lots of easy access to the lake. I knew when booking the site that we were not getting a sewer hookup, but they have a dump station, so no biggie. I guess since we were closer to the lake, that might be why. It was worth it for a better view, I thought. The thing I wasn't sure about was the shared site. It seems to be quite the mixed reviews from everyone else, so I wasn't sure what to expect. When we arrived, I had to agree with those that didn't like the shared site setup. I mean, it's great if you know the people you're sharing the site with - but if not, it's definitely too close for comfort in my opinion. It would have been fine though, if your neighbors were okay - but we got noisy kids and chain smokers, so not the peaceful, fresh-air kind of experience we were hoping for. Anyway, it was a great site otherwise - level, good view, easy hookups, plenty of room for the trailer and truck, good picnic table, a fire ring, etc. There are some sites that aren't shared, so maybe next time we'll try to grab one of those. The staff in the campground were busy keeping things clean, and the folks selling firewood at their site were friendly - that was a handy thing to have available. The lake was beautiful. There's a 10hp boat restriction, which means no jet skis and powerboats. As a result, most of the people on the lake were kayakers or paddleboarders. It was so peaceful and perfect. There's a path going partially around one side of the lake too, which we used several times just to stroll or watch the sunset. We also liked that it was right on the edge of town, so we were able to pop over to Show Low to get a couple things that we forgot. I would definitely return. We camped at Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice camp ground and good location for the area. The park and lake are beautiful. The campground was well maintained, clean and restrooms were great. The sites in our look (Teal) were a bit funky with shared common back in. One site much deeper than the second one so there was some separation and we got used to it. Over all a very nice stay and we would stay here again. We camped at Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Nice clean sites, concrete pads, good hookups, very pleasant area. Not all loops have sewer. I was unable to get cell service, but perhaps a different carrier would give different results. This may not be important to everyone. If this matters to you, being almost in town, I expected to be able to get enough TV to have some news, but could only get Judge Judy and some old Star Wars. Perhaps a site with a slightly different orientation would make a difference. Public radio station came in well. $35.00 plus $5 reservation fee. Restroom/showers looked good, but I didn't use them. We really enjoyed our stay here. We were in Mallard Loop so we had full hookups. Our spot was #1, so there was no one on either side of us, and we still had a glimpse of the lake. Restrooms were extremely clean. Easy access to fishing and the walking trail, and also it was a short drive to stores and restaurants in Show Low. We stayed at Fool Hollow Lake for a week. While we didn'find much to love about the Show Low/Pinetop/Lakeside area, we LOVE Fool Hollow. We used the time to kick back and relax. The campsite was spacious, shaded, and well separated from the sites on either side. There is a nice lakeside trail along the lake. Being right in town is a plus. The road leading to the park is a little rough, but nothing to worry about. Just annoying. We would definitely stay at Fool Hollow again. Loved everything about this park. Beautiful natural setting, trees, birds, lake, trails. Some sites have W/S/E, some 50A. Sites are roomy, paved pad and patio area with picnic table and fire ring. Sadly, we were only staying overnight, but could not have stayed longer because the park was booked up. We felt lucky to get a site without a reservation, even mid-week in October. I believe this is the first park I've rated a 10, but it really is my kind of park! What a pleasure after several days on the road and only so-so parks the whole trip. We have been coming to Fool Hollow now for 11 years. The facilities are still excellent, but the electrical system is showing its age and suffering from the increased demands of new RVs. Voltages go as low as 100vac during high demand periods and it is necessary to transfer all multiple power systems to propane that can be. (I.E. - hot water and fridge.) Prices have risen again to $35 for a full hookup - 30Amp site and it is nearly essential to make reservations a FULL year in advance. Even before we ended this visit, our preferred site was already booked for our preferred dates for 2017. The campground now has a new manager that has caused significant confusion concerning policies and procedures. Campers as well as staff cringe at the thought of ANOTHER change without consultation or contemplation. Between these problems and the new prices local RV Resorts are becoming a more attractive. This is a shame as this is a very fine facility. We have made reservations for May-June 2017 but are keeping the option open for alternative opertunities. We camped at Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Reserve very early if possible. Nearly every summer weekend this facility is completely full of "valley" (Phoenix) people escaping the 110+ temps of the city.
