A very basic experience. Power, water, sewer, and WIFI worked fine for us (though we were warned WIFI might be problematic). Highway noise but it's flat highway in good condition so no roaring engine brakes or pothole banging rackets. Depends on what noise bothers you. Showers not functioning when we were here but we always use ours.

Don't expect amenities and you won't be disappointed. Best suited as a quick overnight stop if you are OK with road noise. No trains, though. We camped at Sun Valley RV Resort (formerly Root 66 RV Park) in a Motorhome.

This campground is nothing fancy but looks like the owners are trying to improve it. It is easy to get to and easy to get around in. We had a pull-through dirt FHU site. The utilities worked well but the Wi-Fi was slow and the signal was weak at our site. Our Verizon signal was also weak. The owner was nice and helpful. We would stay here again. We camped at Sun Valley RV Resort (formerly Root 66 RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Formerly Root 66 RV Park, this campground has new, young owners who are gradually making improvements to what was once a Route 66 Motel/ old RV Park. Both 30 amp and 50 amp and back-in and pull-through sites are available. Very easy on/off I-40. There is highway noise as I-40 is visible from one's campsite. Small dirt dog park with bags & scoopers. During our stay, the showers were being renovated/constructed. Wi-Fi spotty and no local tv. No shade. We camped at Sun Valley RV Resort (formerly Root 66 RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

This is an ok overnight park. The traffic noise from I40 is significant. It was a good base for visiting the Petrified Forest. The bathrooms and showers were not working while we were here. The wifi was sporadic and unusually not working. The owner was very friendly and helpful. We camped at Sun Valley RV Resort (formerly Root 66 RV Park) in a Motorhome.

We called the park to let them know that we had been delayed and would arrive late. They said no problem there will be a packet at the office door. It was after dark when we arrived and what a welcoming committee we had. The owners and daughter and son in law came out to welcome us, get us registered and help us onto our site. This is a small park but the new owners are doing a lot to make your stay enjoyable. We spent two nights there, we toured Petrified Forest while there. We would definitely stay there again. We camped at Sun Valley RV Resort (formerly Root 66 RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

We have been using this park for at least 10 years as we travel to and from AZ. It now has power and management issues. It was friendly and caring under the old owner, but this year was different under the new ownership. This is not a resort but just a basic bare bones campground. The new owners are making some improvements but the electric service is unacceptable as is the attitude of the owners. We had made our reservation for a specific drive thru FHU site, and were told the specific site was guaranteed. We do this because electric is only good at a few sites, and only a few pull thru's are FHU. When we arrived, the park was almost full and our reserved FHU site was occupied. They offered another tight, pull thru site with no sewer for the same price. The site was crowded, faced directly East, and had large puddles and mud. When we pulled up to the site the electric wires were hanging out of the box, and the box not attached properly to the wobbly post. We walked back to the office and one of the owners came and installed the 30A outlet. I plugged in and found only 104V. This voltage is too low and can seriously damage equipment in a MH. I asked for another pull thru site and they only offered a back in site for the same price, but would not guarantee the voltage was at least 110V. I asked for a refund from the clerk, not the owner, and received a full refund. I politely but firmly, expressed my displeasure that they did not honor my confirmed reservation and told them to expect a negative review. A few days later I received a voice mail from the owner stating that he did not like my attitude and I was not welcome at his park in the future. In 40+ years of RV'ing, 17 years of full time RV'ing, and being a campground manager, we have never encountered this treatment. We regret not being able to use this campground since it has been a welcoming well run and friendly place in the past. We will not stay there again under this ownership. We camped at Sun Valley RV Resort (formerly Root 66 RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Nice facility for this area in n. Arizona desert. Great for a one nighter. Owners are working hard to provide extras. They have nice laundry, book exchange, clubhouse and outside deck, outside patio, playground and even pet wash available. Sites are gravel and nice and level. No trees just desert. There is some road noise since it is just off I-40. Our only complaint was the water. It had sulfur smell and discolored at times. They assured the water was fine however. Didn't learn about this until after using it. Would like to have known this at check in. We changed water filters to be safe. Get any petrified wood you want there. They sell it by the pound. Also have polished wood items for sale. Definitely visit painted desert and petrified forest. Well worth the side trip!

This an OK place to stay for a night or two. We chose it because it was closest to Petrified Forest National Park. Some of the sites are very narrow. Wifi was there but slow at times, not unlike some other RV parks. Verizon signal is low. Under new ownership so improvements may be coming. We have stayed in better places for less money. Even at the Passport America rate we paid more than it was worth but, having said that, we would stay here again. We had water and 30 amp electricity; we were supposed to have sewer but the lines were plugged up. I think the back-in sites behind the "motel" unit are quieter than the pull-thrus. Older park under new owners. They are working hard to clean it up and improve. A for effort. It's a stopover. Not a destination. Go the extra few miles actually into Holbrook or Flagstaff headed west. Hot and wide open. Not much of anything around. It was a decent overnight desperately needing rest, but don't plan on staying here again. We camped at Sun Valley RV Resort (formerly Root 66 RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here when it was Root 66 about a year ago. At the time the owners said the place was up for sale. In that year, the place sold. The new owners are a young, energetic, and motivate married couple.

The place under this new ownership is so much cleaner and you can see the hard work they've done to make the place more than just a stop on your way to somewhere. The new owners are also trying to acquire an adjoining property to expand the park. In other words, they are dead serious about making this RV park a place to stay for more than the one or two nights. And what a pleasant couple they are to deal with.

Yes, we highly recommend this park.

Easy off/easy on I-40 regardless the direction you're traveling. Full hook-ups, and a dump station, if you need it.

Excellent for pets and kids as they have a dog area and playground, respectively. I can't comment on the WiFi, cable, or showers as we are self-contained and usually don't require any park amenities.

I wish this couple the very best, and continued success with the RV park. We camped at Sun Valley RV Resort (formerly Root 66 RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Was ok for an overnight stay. Very nice people and the price was right for full hook ups. Shower was unusable. It was old and looked like there might be snakes or at least spiders and only one. Lots of ants around the dirt campsites. Bathroom in clubhouse was clean. Probably wouldn't stay there again or for more than 1 night. The new owners of this park are trying very hard to get it up to par but they have a ways to go. It looks like they have some pull through sites; ours was a back in and there was not much room between sites. The restroom/shower was a small building that only had one toilet and one shower. The electric was good as was the water quality. Also had FHU. The wifi was so sketchy as to be non-existent (and no cable). I could hardly get any wifi signals on my jetpack and phone was sketchy as well. There was no rec hall or any other amenities. The dog park they furnished was real small, but I walked up the "primitive road" and was able to let the dogs loose there. The new owners are very nice and helpful. They also have a nice patio area with tables and chairs and sell petrified wood pieces. We camped at Sun Valley RV Resort (formerly Root 66 RV Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We stopped here to visit the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Park, which is east on I-40 - a good day trip. Also across the bridge from the park on the right hand side the neatest knife store - they have such an assortment as to be mind boggling. Also down I-40 west is Winslow, Arizona, famous for Standin on the Corner in the song "Take it Easy" by the Eagles.

New owners are working on making it better. WIFI is currently satellite, but will change as soon as previous owners' contract is up. Nice place for an overnight while traveling. Close to highway, so some noise. Good electric, good water pressure. Would stop again if on our route. We camped at Sun Valley RV Resort (formerly Root 66 RV Park) in a Motorhome.
