When we were escorted to our RV site at 7pm, we didn't get a receipt. The guy guided us to pull in site which was a crappy sandy area that looked like a parking lot. Where he guided was far beyond where we needed to be for sewer, etc. None of the paperwork indicated pool times or shower times, etc. I tried to call when i figured it out.. closed. A lot of resident mobile home/ manufactured homes which is a small city of those. If there were more people here it would be back to back front and sides. Thankfully we came during summer when most people are gone. Too far of a walk to any amenities. We camped at Sunflower Resort (55+ park) in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

It is important to note that we spent only 1 week here, and this review reflects the transient experience. The park is large, spacious and beautifully landscaped, with a truly resort-like central area surrounded by park models and rv sites. The common facilities - pools, courts, craft rooms etc are really nice and adequately sized for a large resort. HOWEVER - the transient sites are off in one corner between the garbage bins and the storage area, and ressemble nothing more than a gravel parking lot with narrow concrete patios. There is no landscaping at all in this area and the gravel was fine and dusty. The sites are very close together - barely room to walk around your rig, no privacy. The sites were long and level and the hookups were modern and well designed. The staff were pleasant but somewhat ineffective. For example, they were too busy to print a receipt when we checked in; we had to go back later. Our welcome package did not contain any information about facilities or special events so we had to go hunt that down as well. When we arrived at our site, there was a truck parked in it, and our escort, unable to find the owner, was not authorized to move us to another site. It was up to us to find a solution. Considering that this was a 55+ resort, we were surprised to find children running around everywhere, not particularly well supervised. Only in the transient area?? These are all minor issues, but they add up to create a negative perception. Our most serious issue, though, was complete lack of internet connectivity at our site. Not just weak, or slow, but completely nonfunctional! I can accept this in remote settings, but not in an urban resort. We were considering Sunflower for a longer stay next year but we have decided to try elsewhere. We camped at Sunflower Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are lots of stores and golf courses nearby. For hiking, White Tank Mountain Regional Park is nearby although I did not think it was as scenic as the parks on the East side of Phoenix. For bike trails I prefer Glendale & Scottsdale.

Rate based upon 2 week stay in temp spot in the back. All services worked as expected except wi-fi which only worked at the office. Really nice facilities with happy hour and live music daily. Great location. One concern was too many children which was really noticeable at the pool. Not sure what age qualified park means but it appeared any age was allowed. This is an upscale resort with almost every amenity you could want. Tennis courts were lighted and first class. Workout room, 2 pools, outside bar with live music every afternoon and night. There is little lacking, first class all the way, plus they take PA! We were treated like they wanted us there, friendly staff couldn't do enough for us. For some reason the cable TV system had issues however being that close to Phoenix we got about 40 channels from our antenna. Overall top notch all the way, definitely stay again. Tips for other Campers:

So much is available right at the park there is little reason to leave. Shopping however is abundant everywhere in Surprise. Traffic through Phoenix on the other hand is heavy and slow, be aware if you intend to drive through the city to allow lots of time and Avil.

Overall Rating:

This park is mainly for permanent park models with an area by the dumpsters for short term stays. The wifi was great but the cable came with a cable box that you need to hook up to your tv (We didn't use it). There seems to be a lot of activities for the residents of which we were welcome to join in. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The dog park was a nice place to relax in the evening with our dog. The short term sites are so close that the slides almost touch. We camped at Sunflower Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Winter home, very social resort. 5 nights of live music and meals. New Pickle Ball Courts (8). Fenced and lighted dog park. Resort is VERY clean. Plenty of shopping and restaurants close. 32 golf courses within 10 miles. Located between Peoria Sports complex -5 miles, (Mariners & Padres) and Surprise Stadium- 4 miles (Rangers and Royals).

Short term parking on dirt, long term parking is mixed in with park models. The full timers are VERY friendly. Sunflower has a Fall special: 4 months for price of 1 month (Sept, Oct Nov Dec). Every hobby has a space. Senior FUN ZONE. We camped at Sunflower Resort (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Since we only stayed a couple of weeks, we were in the transition area but enjoyed the total experience. There are many amenities such as 2 pool s and water exercise options, wood working area, sewing and crafts area, ballroom for shows and plays (we attended a dinner and show - great food), a place to wash your car, pickle ball and Bocci courts to name a few. There is alot to do in this park... you just need to figure out your interests. The pull through sites are large enough to unhook and hook up your car which was nice. Make reservations early. They start taking short term (under 3 months) in September.

Overall Rating:

We stayed here the last two nights of January, and felt lucky to find a spot in the middle of winter, the busy season for the parts of Arizona that are in the lower elevations. We were given a choice of the regular overnight RV spots or the overflow, and we chose the overflow. It was electric and water in the parking lot behind the main hall, but it was perfect for us. Much cheaper per night (rate reflects the overflow site rate), a better fit and easier to get into with our 45' fifth wheel, and VERY close to all the amenities. There were multiple bathrooms located around the common areas, and the showers were clean and well-kept. Lots of activities, both indoor and outdoor, if you choose to participate. The tiki area served drinks and had live entertainment both nights we were there, and they offer a small selection of food with a daily special. It was a nice spot to stay, and everyone we encountered was very friendly. The staff bent over backward for us, and we can't say enough good things about them. We would stay here again when in the Phoenix area - which we were because we were visiting friends. We did hear the jets from the air base, but they didn't bother us, we love to hear the sound of freedom. There was a paid concert one of the nights we were there, and things were busy and the parking lot full, but that goes with the territory. We were asked to move our truck over a few spots so it would be out of the way and provide more parking, and that was fine. This is a 55+ park that caters to snowbirds and annual owners, but the overnighters are included and made to feel welcome. We camped at Sunflower Resort (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Staff friendly and helpful. They did park us in the back lot but we enjoy being away from the main area and found the site easy to access and quiet. Fifth wheel parked beside us and connected to our sewer connection but we were able to back in to an open site and dump before we left.

Nice park and friendly people. We do not mind having a bit of a walk to reach the main buildings. We also did not mind parking by the recycling bins.

The park has a nice dog walk area. We are not likely to be in this area again but if we did return we would be happy to stay here again for a few days. We camped at Sunflower Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Hard place to rate - the pool, common areas, amenities and activities are first rate, but the actual camp sites are awful. The sites are long, but you are packed very tight side to side. Wifi was unusably slow. It wasn't bad for an overnight with the Passport America discount. I encountered a lot of permanent residents and they were all very friendly. We stayed over Memorial Day Weekend and planned to stay one week. Upon arriving we were escorted to the very back corner of the park in a gravel and storage area. There were 20 sites available but we were directed into a site right next to someone else. We asked to move to another site . We were told no and to talk to guest services, who were closed. All the amenities indicated on the website were closed except for the pool and dog area. The sites were extremely close and when they tried to put another rv next to us we could not open our slide out. Yet they would not let us move to a different site. This park is 90 percent permanent homes. While in the pool the full time residents stated loudly so that I could hear "these rv'ers who come for a few days should stay in a hotel and not use our facilities" We left the next day. It was not a friendly place and they do not appear to want short timers. We would not stay there again nor recommend this park. We camped at Sunflower Resort (55+ park) in a Travel Trailer.

They do not have "true 50 amp" service. The breaker is old and kept losing a "leg". People in the motorhome next to us had their inverter fried because of it. Park is old and has mostly park models. The true RV section is in the back and the sites are gravel with a small patio pad. WiFi was unusable. We camped at Sunflower Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

We stayed here under Passport America. The regular price seemed a bit high though. Most of the sites have park models and are for sale or owned. The sites for RV's were very nice. Clean showers & restrooms but quite a way from where we were parked. A lot of great activities & amenities. I liked the entertainment at the tiki bar and we used the whirlpool quite a bit. Parking spaces are quite close though. There was a nice heavy picnic table but it was round and quite large. It was just in the way of our bays & steps and had to step around it every time we stepped out of our rv. It actually stuck out far enough to encroach on our neighbor as it hung over the patio. Very hard to find a close parking space to the laundry. It was geared more for golf cart access for the laundry. And I hate having to buy those laundry cards! I would rather use quarters. A bit too big of a park for me and just not my cup of tea. And it was a bit above our budget. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice place but not for me personally. This is probably not the place for an overnight stay, but then again you will get amenities that are superb even if your sight is lacking. We stayed two months. We were mixed in with permanents. Our sight was spacious and had room for three cars plus our dolly and rv. They offer stained glass, wood working, exercise, silver smithing, billiards, sewing, pc classes and much more during the winter. There was a band playing every night, Bingo on Wednesdays, monthly vendor and craft shows, and fine food served at the tiki bar. The two pools were amazing and so was the hot tub. I could go on about the park. If you are bored in the winter, blame yourself. This is a top notch winter resort that caters to the 55 and older crowd. My only complaint was our neighbor who had a 45 ft rv, a second 25' trailer, a small motorcycle trailer, a couple cars, and a golf cart on his spot. He kept encroaching on us but this isn't a fault of the park. It's a person who was not taught to respect boundaries. I am surprised how many folks lack respect for the property someone else is renting. Again, I can't blame the park for inconsiderate self absorbed people. When I figure the monthly rate and add the amenities, this park is the best park we have stayed in during our ten years of RVing! We camped at Sunflower Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.
