Spaces are very tight with not much room between. Wi-Fi very poor (at 6am I had to use my cell phone hotspot to write this). Location is convenient by light rail but lots of sirens on weekend nights and is also next to an auto repair shop with associated noise. No pet area ... just pavement and gravel; dogs are not supposed to pee on trees. We camped at Apache Palms RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park because of the convenience. We were meeting friends. Spaces very, very small. Attitude very different. Offered a reward if you caught someone throwing a cigarette down or let your dogs "poop". Free nights stay. Did not want pets urinating on their trees, etc. Encourages you to take pets to an empty lot down the street which was riddled with broken glass. Employees spent many breaks sitting outside the office smoking.

You could catch the trolley right across the street. Very close to shopping and college.

Told you when you stayed no regular spots open. Had to pay the extra for a spot which gave you a picnic table and Bar-b-q. We camped at Apache Palms RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Apache Palms is a dated but well maintained park. The park roads are just a tiny bit narrow on the curves, but Large 45' motorhomes come and go without any significant problems. I had to back up to make one of the tight curves in my 40' MH, but fortunately I had disconnected while my wife went in to register, and we were able to make the turn into the park towing a 17' dingy by taking both lanes of the busy frontage road. ALL the roads are one-way, but some of big rigs HAVE to exit using the entrance, and it can make things "interesting" because motorhomes cannot backup when towing. They have all the normal things like a pool, laundry room, & showers, but all are small to tiny. There is no dog run, grass, or club house. The trees are too small to qualify as shade trees. The spaces are gravel with narrow cement pads. The WiFi was the most frustrating I've used at any park, which is one of the reasons for an "average" rating. Repeated frustration from waiting for pages to load, having the signal disappear, and restarting the computer was the daily cycle for three weeks. Have you ever read one of those reviews that starts out, "The staff was really great ...." ? Well, this isn't one of them. The problem seemed to come from one person who set the tone for some of the others, but one of the men was very nice and helpful. I want to emphasis that the one staff member NEVER said one thing that was wrong; she was just an expert at unintentionally raising your blood pressure by tone, body language, and abruptness. Examples. After making our reservation, an extreme heat wave set in (110-115). I phoned for an early check-in to beat the extreme heat. (Safety issue, people died from being caught in the heat while we were there.) She was unconcerned. Check-in was 11 AM. Period. Rules are rules. We pulled in a few minutes after 11, wanted a different space than the assigned one. No luck. We camped at Apache Palms RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Relatively small campground, sites varied in size, our site backed up to a wall with an apartment complex on the other side. Good location if you have to be in Tempe, very small laundry facilities. Friendly staff, our site was very easy to get into, long term resident next to us was not very friendly about moving his car so we could put our slides out. He obviously felt he was entitled to more room than his site gave him so it didn't give us a good feeling to start out. Small patio next to the RV with barely enough room to park our truck. We camped at Apache Palms RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Park is urban and the sites are decent size. Gravel with a concrete patio. Clean park. Laundry room is clean and reasonable, pool is small but not used by many people. Spa is nice and hot. No other amenities and no activities. Some in office are friendly. Monthly rate is reasonable but you have to rent a minimum of 2 months at a time. We camped at Apache Palms RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Clean park. WI-FI will make you totally crazy because it is so intermittent. Lots of city noise. Very busy. We camped at Apache Palms RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Well kept park. Gravel sites, with a small concrete pad. Some sites have table and barbeque for extra charge. Sites are tight. They have some trees which makes it too tight for awning to go out. They have a nice clean (but cold) pool and a spa. Wi-Fi is included but has a weak signal. Even being near the office, barely could stay connected. There is a nice field not far (dirt/sand) which is great to run a dog. Park is very clean and very convenient. Not a great area, but with the light rail and new construction nearby it is cleaning up. We stay here occasionally when we visit our kids in Chandler and will continue to. We camped at Apache Palms RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This park was a disappointment. The site was OK with plenty of room, but the noise, especially at night, was a problem. There is a police substation across the street with cars dispatching all night, and there is a trailer park separated by a wall adjacent to our site. The trailer park had lots of partying late and numerous domestic spats. On the plus side the park does provide lots of area info and is next to the light rail. We would not stay here again. We camped at Apache Palms RV Park in a Motorhome.

If you need to be close to the Phoenix city limits for a visit to Phoenix, this probably will suit your needs ok, but for a recreational camp weekend, I can't say this is the place to go. The surrounding neighborhood is iffy. The campground itself is very clean. The sites are pretty tight especially up near the front. Most likely your front door will be about 10 to 15 ft from your neighbors sewer hose. The office staff were friendly enough. They came around often to sweep gravel off of concrete pads. The grills were kept very clean for sites that had them. Having a picnic table and a grill is considered a premium spot and there are only a few! WiFi only worked for us for one day out of a 3 night stay. The pool looked clean although I didn't use it. Again, if you needed a place to stay in or near the city of Phoenix it was safe enough and clean enough. I can't consider it resort camping however. We camped at Apache Palms RV Park in a Motorhome.

Clean park & not trashy at all. Pool & hot tub were clean, but tiny. Getting into back-in spaces was very tight. Took us awhile w/a 40' moho. Forget about the wi-fi & cable. Wi-fi was too weak of a signal to be useable, & cable is a bunch of local channels. Employees are pleasant & helped us get into a spot. Location is a plus. You can hear planes, but as background noise. Traffic not bad either. Whole area was torn up for construction, making for some tight swerving between cones. We camped at Apache Palms RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Very few big rig sites, tight interior roads, reservations a must. Current road construction for light rail will not be complete till 2008. Park WiFi iffy. City of Tempe offering city wide service soon. Neighbor's bike chained to 5th wheel leg was stolen from the middle of the park, XXX store next door. In spite of surrounding neighborhood location convenient for us but will not return till road construction is complete. Apache Blvd. is only one lane each way and winds back an forth between the construction pylons which could scratch or dent your rig or worse. Temporary access to the park entrance due to construction very rough. Location is in path of airport and pool gets sooty quickly. Park staff quick to clean and maintain though. We camped at Apache Palms RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
