Bar J RV Park Tucson, Arizona Lovely, lovely, quiet and beautiful small park. Excellent location! Near the Desert Museum, restaurants and the Saguaro National Park. This is a charming park, well managed by sweet and organized people. We were lucky to get in for a week in mid-January and really enjoyed all of our neighbors, almost all seasonals with some full-timers; every one of which loves this park. Good Verizon coverage, great OTA television reception. As others have said, this is a 55+ park with no pool or clothes dryer. The washers are free and there are clotheslines and they are fine! We will definitely stay here again - if we are lucky enough to get in! We camped at Bar J RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is really a different RV park. It is a small family run 14 site facility located a few miles due west of Tucson, but close enough to get to any of the Tucson sites and shopping. We didn't have any issues getting our 41 ft motorhome in and out of the park, but it is tight so be prepared. They offer a clothes washer no charge, and cloths lines are also provided if you choose to dry in this manner. No dryers are available. The sites and grounds are all sand, fairly level, and firm and stable to level up on. Verizon and AT&T are usable, and good satellite access from all sites. They do not rent to anyone under 55. The owners are a couple of the most friendly we have ever met, and go out of their way to make sure everything is to your satisfaction. In the three days we stayed, we met several of the others there, and found all to be friendly and welcoming. Be aware that the facility is basis, no pool, etc, and is really off the "beaten track", but quiet and peaceful. It appears that the residents are comprised of some seasonal campers and some that are working in the area. We camped at Bar J RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This little out of the way park has only 14 sites and no frills. It does have one of the nicest sites we have had on our trip. Very nice walled, concrete, private patio with a built in grill table and walkway lighting.

The owners are very friendly and will help you as much as they can to make your stay pleasant.

The park is very well maintained.

No restrooms, showers, pool, or much of anything else. They do have a nice little tiki bar that the owner built but I never did see anyone use it.

A lot of the residence are full time and work in the area.

We enjoyed being out and away from the large busy parks for awhile.

Easy access to all the wonderful sites and things to do around Tucson. Very close to Gates pass, Sanora state park, Tuson mountain park and all the hiking trails. About 8 miles to shopping and the highway into Tucson.

Would probably stay here again if they could do something about the barking dog across the street. We camped at Bar J RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you plan to visit Tucson and the sites, which I highly recommend, go to the corner of Broadway and Church in downtown Tucson and go to the visitors center. You can buy a discount coupon book for $18.00 and it gives you a lot of buy one get one coupons. We paid for the book the very first place we visited. It saved us around a $100 in entrance fees to places like the Sonora desert museum, Old Tucson, The Botanical Gardens, Tombstone, Jewish history museum and many others.

As stated in another review, if you are not looking for a swimming pool, gym, or breakfast delivered to your door this is the place to stay. Although this park does not have the amenities that some of the other parks have if you are looking for peace and quiet this is the place to stay. The owners will go out of there way to make your stay the best ever. There is a tiki hut with flowing water to calm your nerves. At the end of a crazy day of sightseeing, you can also have a party under the hut with advance notice to the owners. I definitely will return. All sights have spacious concrete patios. Please take note that this is a 55+ park. We camped at Bar J RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

I called the owner while we were still in New Mexico. He told us the -J was a 55+ park with only 13 sites and gave us directions to the park once we arrived in Tucson. He met us upon our arrival at the park and assisted us in parking the M/H. His wife, took care of the registration and information about the local area.

We were very impressed with the sites; A concrete patio with a very decorative wall, a stand for our grill, water at the grill area, Saguaro Cactus and other local shrubs around the patio, and local lighting at night. Some of the wildlife we saw in and around our site: Gambel's quail (were a daily visitor), rabbits, small lizards, ground squirrels, and we also had a coyote pass through our site early one morning. Free laundry (washing machines) and clothes lines for drying , a pavillion with a tropical theme is available for use , and if you have your mail delivered to the park address, it will be delivered to your site mail box. We stayed here for 4 months and discovered that the owners are truly sincere in having a very nice 55+ park, and it shows, both in attitude and personality. We hope to stay here again next year. We camped at Bar J RV Park in a Motorhome.

This small park a few miles south of Tucson is a unique experience. The owners are two of the nicest, most friendly and welcoming hosts we have encountered in our years of RVing. Quiet desert setting, great views of the surrounding mountains, and the loudest sound was the coyotes at night in the desert. The owner has spent years building everything in this park himself, from the iron fencing to the adobe walls to the "Tiki Bar/Patio with Waterfall". Free laundry rooms are provided with Tucson sunshine for drying. If you want a quiet place near Tucson and don't need swimming pools, exercise rooms (hiking in Tucson Mountain Park is only a couple of miles away), or bingo games, check out the Bar J. We will return every year! We camped at Bar J RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a no frills park but we loved it. Very quiet, very clean, well maintained. Excellent management. We have Direct TV and a Verizon card for the computer, so we lacked for nothing. Laundry is free, no dryers because you can hang it out on their lines. Good old sunshine dry. The daily rate is an estimate as we are staying the whole season and pay the monthly rate. We camped at Bar J RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
