Daily rate is based not the weekly rate of $150. The regular daily rate is $30. Easy access to the highway. Full hookup sites are all in a gravel area which needs to be re-leveled based on many storms. Good size sites when the park is not full. Might we tight if it were packed. The only showers available after 5:00 pm are near the Horse barn which is inconvenient. The campground shower house is locked after business hours which seems odd. The fairgrounds are about 25 miles from downtown Tucson. We choose this part at the last minute because other parks were either full or cost over $320 per week in season. We will stay here again in our Big Rig motorhome. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Thank goodness for Pima County Fairgrounds. We had hoped to get onto the Davis-Monthan FamCamp, where they didn't take any reservations. However, it was full, and we were in the area too long to want to dry camp there. Then began the perplexing search for an RV park that took a family under the age of 55, that was affordable. We found the fairgrounds and were so happy that there was room. Upon arrival, we found that the fairgrounds has a ton of sites, with room even during the weekend when there was a fair on-site. Additionally, they have a reasonably priced storage lot, which we took advantage of when we decided to do a quick side-trip without the trailer. The campground is really just a big gravel parking lot, but the hookups were excellent, the hosts very friendly, and the price extremely reasonable ($50/night less than one of the other "family-friendly" parks). The park has a security guard that monitors each vehicle's entry, so we felt safe at night. It is far enough out of town that we could see the stars, and hear the haunting songs of the coyotes. Easy in and out--the roads are simple to maneuver on, even with our 42.5' fifth. The office has a book exchange, which I always appreciate. We gave the park a 7 (versus a higher rating) based only on the lack of aesthetics...otherwise it was a great park. We would definitely return. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We enjoyed the Tombstone gunfight and lunch at the Crystal Palace. In Tucson, we visited the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, hiked in Saguaro National Park, and attended Mass at the San Xavier Mission. Do not miss out on the incredible food from the vendors at the mission parking lot--the Indian Fry Bread Tacos, the handmade paper-thin giant tortillas cooked over the fire--all absolutely delicious. Finally, do not miss the DeGrazzia art gallery.

We stayed here during the Tiffin Motorhome Rally. This is a wonderful facility. Though the wifi and the county roads leave a lot to be desired, this facility is great as far as critical infrastructure for RV's. Also, they don't have any breed restrictions so we felt very welcome with our large dogs and we also appreciate the dog parks for both large and small breed dogs. Each site has full hookups which was greatly appreciated. Though the sights are a little close to one another, there is plenty of room for slide outs. The Cantina on the grounds is wonderful. They have great food and a nice bar. Next time we are in the area, we will definitely be staying here! We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This was the first time we stayed at a fairground lot, but we'll look for these going forward. This was a great value. The spaces are basically set up as a large, open parking lot with hookups at each site. Sites are close, like a parking lot, with no foliage/privacy between sites. We only spent one night there and didn't use water/sewer, but our site was level and we used the electrical hookup. I can't speak to the wifi. Restrooms were clean, but many of them were locked (including the one by our site), which wasn't convenient. Maybe they're all open when they're busier? And there is only one shower facility, located in the restroom by the show arena. The showers were clean and had good hot water and water pressure, but there was a dog show the day we were there, so there was a lot of traffic in the restroom while we were showering. Park hosts were friendly, and there are some fenced dog-walk areas, which is nice. There is a racetrack nearby, and you could hear cars as they raced, but it wasn't intrusive, and the park was very quiet in general. We would camp here again. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

We had a great stay on the way through Tucson for Thanksgiving. Sites are gravel and level, all utilities (FHU w/ 50 amp) worked perfectly. Lots of trees and good for walking the dogs, who really enjoyed it as well! We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Signage could be improved; pull all the way through to the back (past the Host camper) and the office is on the right. Well-marked once you get to it. Wi-Fi would make this place perfect!! AT&T & Verizon hotspots worked well, however. We absolutely plan on returning.

We spent almost a month here between 2 rallies and some private time. It is all dirt/crushed stone. We had one of the new spots out front and it was a back in. Not spacious but ok. The wifi was excellent. I find it easy in and out and as noted if the "cars are on track" you will hear them. Not loud but you know they are there. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Gravel sites; some with full hookups and 50 amp, some with 30 amp, and some dry camping. We were there for a rally, so I'm not sure of the price. Roads are large - ample for big rigs. Sites are good size but right next to each other as they were trying to fit as many rigs as possible for this rally. Most were back-in sites but some could be used as pull-thru's. Recommend bringing bikes as the fair grounds are large. Quiet as along as NASCAR practice is not going on! We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Big gravel parking lot but with full hookups. The sites are narrow and back to back. We had trouble parking the pickup in front of the trailer since the site was narrow; there certainly wasn't room in front or back. However it is easy to get to and relatively inexpensive. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

Great value so we stayed 2 weeks and came back for another night after boondocking at casinos. A little loud when drag racing taking place and other events at the fairgrounds. We went to Cantina for eats and karaoke on Friday... we would come back weekly rate $125 usd. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

What a lovely surprise! Last year we stayed in an established RV Park - expensive, hard spot to get into. I was dreading trying to find an overnight spot in the Tucson area, but ran across this park going through this and a few other sites. Be warned they do not take reservations, but unless you are there during a particular big weekend, this shouldn't be a problem in getting a 50-amp site, as they recently added about 100 sites and are in the process of adding more. For longer term stays, there are some sites with tree canopies, but we were in the open. Okay, it's February, so it didn't matter, but in August, ask to be under a tree if you can. You are southeast of the city and in a gorgeous setting with the mountains nearby. Yes, the coyotes do an opera every night, which we enjoyed, but it may be a bit disconcerting as they sound pretty close. All in all, a great place to stay and we'll be back. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

The Fairgrounds have lots of events throughout the year, so check their website. It's a mile square park, worth a drive around to check it out. Hint - plenty of car and drag racing!

This is basically just a sand parking lot with full hookups. No cable tv. No picnic table. The camp hosts were very pleasant. Fairly new dog park with a large dog and a small dog side. Dumpsters were never overflowing. This was a good place to stay to visit the area in all directions. Now if you dont like any noise this just might not be the place for you. Speedway located in really close proximity. Air Force flies over frequently but I was not bothered by either of these things. Laundry is minimal...3 washers and 4 dryers but they were all working while I was there. $1.50 to wash and $1.50 to dry. I enjoyed my stay there. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This place is very similar to a lot of fairgrounds where we have camped. Basic camping at a value price. It is just a big open area with full hookups in rows. Sites were level with decent room in between. There are clean restrooms and a small (3 washers, 4 dryers) laundry room. There are supposedly showers somewhere, but we used our own and didn't go hunt them down so can't comment. The pros were easy access to I-10 and a super bargain especially at the weekly rate of $125 for FHU. It's quite a ways outside of downtown Tucson, but there is all sorts of shopping (including a Walmart and Frys) just up the road a mile or so. The only real con was the wi-fi was pretty much worthless. Verizon data was strong enough to get 'er done though. The other thing I really liked was the big dog parks. There is one for the big guys and one for the little fellas and they are connected so you can go from one to the other which my pup enjoyed doing especially since there wasn't another dog there the whole week we were here. There's also several patches of thick grass which is pretty rare to find in this desert area. Very dog friendly park. We would absolutely come back. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Truck Camper.

Rate is daily, there is no tax. The fairgrounds park is seasonal but works well for winter visitors. We liked that it is a quiet country setting, yet easy access to I-10. There is a nice off leash dog area and lots of room for walks. Sites are level on gravel or grassy, dirt. We chose a pull through and had plenty of room for the motorhome and car. WiFi worked. There is so much to see and do in this beautiful area we stayed an extra 3 days and hope to return. We would stay at Pima Co Fairgrounds again. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.
